00:00If you've been following all of the self-isolation rules, you should be home for just over your second month now.
00:06Staying home can be very difficult, both mentally and physically, but it does come with plenty of silver linings.
00:14We've spoken to six UAE residents who have told us about the positives that have come from being home 24-7.
00:22Let's take a look.
00:24If I have to mention only one positive thing from my isolation experience,
00:28I would say discovering the innate human capabilities in me,
00:32majorly conquering the kitchen by preparing delicious, healthy, funny-looking meals for my entire family
00:39and especially for my baby Noah,
00:41as well as making my daily home-chores routine into fun, engaging workouts for me and for my entire family.
00:50So definitely I would say it made me learn one thing,
00:53where there is a will, there is a way.
00:55For me, it's a gift of time.
00:58Before this pandemic happened, everybody wished to have more time with family, with friends, to have more time with oneself.
01:07Because of the self-isolation, you do have all the time in the world.
01:11You have more time spending with your family, either through video call or being with them at home.
01:20And also you just have to have all the time in social media to catch up with friends
01:27that you have not been connected to for a long time.
01:30And also this is actually the time for you to learn new things, like me.
01:36I've been trying to play guitar for like two weeks now.
01:40And also I've been trying to level up my cooking skills because I do have all the time for that.
01:47It's time to learn new things, time to exercise, to reflect and to be creative during this time.
01:56To make us more connected to our loved ones and to ourselves.
02:02To not waste it just lying in bed and thinking what to eat next.
02:06Stay healthy, get up, and we can still be productive.
02:11I have been practicing and developing on my singing as I have been passionate about singing for a long time.
02:22And I want to pursue singing as my future career.
02:25So therefore I am developing and practicing on my singing while balancing my schoolwork.
02:32And then the second thing is that I have been doing my work independently
02:37and doing my work at my own pace, my schoolwork, as we all have online schooling.
02:41So that's one other benefit that is there in isolation.
02:45And I've been getting good remarks from my teachers because of that, which I have not gotten before.
02:52I mean as much.
02:54And another thing is that I can talk to my friends even though we can't physically see them.
03:02I can still talk to them through Zoom.
03:05I have been talking to them, I have fun with them.
03:08And also my birthday is also coming up so I'm going to have a Zoom party which I have not really done before.
03:14But it's a new experience so I am looking forward to that on the 18th.
03:20It's a new experience but I enjoy it.
03:23I'm trying to enjoy it and make the most out of it.
03:27Self-isolation had thought to be the simplest and the most basic things in life.
03:33One positive thing is of course time.
03:36You appreciate time and the way you spend it with your family.
03:39Because probably before you've been very busy outside.
03:42Now you tend to appreciate time because it gives you the chance to pause
03:48and to reflect about what are really important and what are really essential in your life.
03:54From a personal experience, I never realized that there would be any positive effects.
03:59But being at home for about six weeks now, I realized that we do have positive effects.
04:08One of them being that I have developed a very close bond with my daughter.
04:13Through all my 16 years of work, I have never really sat at home.
04:19But I was able to help her out with a lot of her work.
04:24Because having a new system of education is really hard for the children.
04:29And another thing what I realized was developing a new skill.
04:35Being a pediatric physiotherapist, I developed the skill of telehealth.
04:41So it has really worked out for children that I never imagined would be benefiting.
04:52From actually the families being involved in their therapy.
04:57And the therapist being a spectator, someone who is guiding the parents.
05:03So I have learnt a lot from these six weeks.
05:08I have also learnt to appreciate the work of those people who are coming home to do the cleaning and the cooking.
05:16Because it's a lot of hard work and I've really grown to respect them a lot.
05:22The first thing I've been doing is film a ton of YouTube videos.
05:26So I launched a YouTube channel and I've been filming a lot of videos about a ton of equipment.
05:31Like some new lights and a new tripod and just filming a lot of videos.
05:37And the second thing I've been doing is doing a lot of coding.
05:41I've coded my own website. I designed it and then I coded it and it's going live in a few days.
05:46So that's how I've been spending my time. Just filming and editing and coding.
