00:29How are you?
00:29Hello dear brothers and sisters! Welcome back to our virtual classroom for active evangelization in what I hope will be a very interesting course.
00:38about the Pauline writings, which is now coming to an end with this fourth module in which we are already talking
00:47of Pauline spirituality.
00:49In our first meeting, we saw conversion as a fundamental part of our spirituality, and within this, this experience that
01:01It must also be foundational and transformative for us, like the experience of Damascus, that illumination where God...
01:08reveals to his son.
01:09And in that experience of revealing Christ to ourselves, He gives us a clearer understanding of our whole life and of
01:16all our history.
01:17Okay, let's look now at a topic that I think is very important because this new Christian life will indeed
01:25It will be a novelty, but it will also be a problem.
01:31And the Christian life is going to present us with a series of new things, isn't it?
01:38It's something new.
01:39This new development will bring with it a series of problems, especially in our times.
01:46This also happened in times past.
01:51The Christian life always presents itself as something new, but a newness that, in confronting itself, in confronting with
02:00The world is going to end up being a problem in our lives too, isn't it?
02:05So, that's why, my brothers, it will be so good for us to review what Paul tells us about
02:12This situation occurs, has occurred, and will always occur in the lives of Christians.
02:19Above all, we're going to delve into the problems of this new life so we can understand them and overcome them, and that
02:27May that newness which the Lord has given us through his Spirit remain in us.
02:33Okay, so let's talk first about the newness of the Christian life.
02:39And we can say in short that the novelty of the Christian life is the indwelling of the Spirit.
02:46This is the big news.
02:48And this newness produces in us the fruits that are proper to it and that Saint Paul presents to us in his
02:55letter to the Galatians.
02:56I would like us to look at this text, which will serve as a clear guide for us.
03:02Galatians 5:22
03:04Let's go to the text.
03:10But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
03:27So we see here the fruits of the Spirit, don't we?
03:32This is what allows a person to experience a new reality in all aspects of their life.
03:39The theme of love, which is the driving force behind everything, is fundamentally highlighted.
03:46For the same Spirit is identified with love, as we already know from what Saint Paul tells us in
03:53His letter to the Romans, chapter 5, verse 5.
03:56Because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
04:04So we have within us a force that is God himself, that is his Spirit, and that is love.
04:11Pure love.
04:13This love is the gift par excellence, as Saint Paul's letter to the Corinthians says in his
04:20first letter.
04:21He writes beautifully in chapter 13.
04:26If you like, let's read this text which I find truly beautiful.
04:31For me, it is always one of the most beautiful and brilliant texts in writing.
04:36Let's go to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
04:40We read.
04:42Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
04:54It behaves indecently, it does not seek its own, it is not easily angered, it does not keep a record of wrongs, it does not rejoice.
05:04despises injustice, but rejoices in the truth.
05:08Everything happens.
05:11Everything happens.
05:13He awaits everything.
05:15It endures everything.
05:18A truly epic and beautiful text, because it speaks to us of this reality within us that radically, diametrically, changes the way we think.
05:34how we live and how we live with others.
05:38He who has received this gift, we can say that he already lives in paradise, in love, in God himself.
05:47And if that weren't enough, it is the spirit that makes it possible for the new man to live the experience
05:54of paradise.
05:57What does Saint Paul describe to us in the letter to the Romans?
06:00Let's see what Romans, chapter 14, verse 17 tells us.
06:05We read, therefore, in the writing.
06:08For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
06:18The kingdom is therefore the inheritance and natural habitat of the new man, and love, the inheritance with which
06:26where life reaches its fullness.
06:28The Christian, filled with the Spirit, dead to this world and reborn to Christ, goes about spreading, as we said before,
06:38the sweet aroma of Christ everywhere.
06:42For the Christian, everything is fine.
06:45He knows that everything works in his favor.
06:47Furthermore, everything is possible to experience: poverty, wealth, everything, absolutely everything.
06:56As Saint Paul says in his letter to the Philippians, I know how to live in poverty and I know how to live in prosperity.
07:04I have learned the secret of being content in every situation, and of being hungry, and of having plenty, and of being content in every situation.
07:12of suffering need.
07:18In this way, the man, reborn in Christ, is a man who lives with great peace, with great serenity, who
07:25He is kind, bringing joy and happiness to everyone around him.
07:30Nothing worries him, because what was important to him, he now considers trash.
07:36Don't worry, everything is fine.
07:38The new man is driven inwardly by the spirit, which radically changes his moral life, so that he leaves
07:46He doesn't get overly angry when he lies; if he does get angry, well, we all get angry, but not excessively.
07:53He gives no place to the devil, he does not steal, he does not speak destructive words to his listeners, and above all, he does not extinguish
08:04the fire of God's spirit in his heart.
08:07Life isn't bitter, it's fine, she gets angry, but she doesn't get enraged, nor does she shout or curse.
08:16And he is a new man.
08:19He will turn away from all malice and all idolatry.
08:24Chapter 4 of the letter to the Ephesians practically refers to this whole new way of life.
08:32He speaks to us of the new man, of that man that you and I must become.
08:38When conversion has truly taken root in our lives, then we have this kind of life.
08:44Obviously, everyone notices.
08:48This is the life that Christ came to offer when he said that he came so that we might have life and that the
08:55we had in abundance.
08:56It is the life for which He paid for us on His cross and which we receive freely through His resurrection.
09:06This, my brothers, this is the life of the new man.
09:11It's the perfect life.
09:13It is life that helps us to live a wonderful reality in Christ.
09:19It cannot be done if our life has not received that foundational experience of the Lord.
09:27But this is the new thing.
09:30This is what makes the Christian life, obviously, worth living.
09:36Because who wouldn't want this lifestyle?
09:41The people who live with us would be truly happy to live with someone who has these qualities.
09:49which are the fruits of the Spirit and which come directly from this action of God in our hearts.
09:57And that is another of the great statements of Saint Paul in relation to the new life he is proposing
10:03and that is precisely what identifies us as Christians,
10:07It is the way of life that must be identified with the Gospel of Christ.
10:13The apostle says so in Philippians, in chapter 1, verse 27.
10:18Let's go to the Bible because it's important that you have it underlined.
10:22Philippians 1, chapter 1, verse 27.
10:30The apostle tells us.
10:33Just conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ.
10:40In a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ.
10:44I think that sums it all up here.
10:47The new man, converted to Jesus Christ, not only does not steal, does not kill, does not commit sin,
10:55but also that their life should be a source of pride for Christ.
11:02Jesus must be proud of us.
11:07This expression of Saint Paul means that our lives must be identified in their entirety with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
11:16So that Jesus will feel proud and say, look at my son Ernesto, look at my daughter Luisa, look at
11:24my son José,
11:27Look at his way of life, a life in accordance with his Gospel.
11:33If we think about it, he's talking about life.
11:37In other words, he's talking about behavior.
11:41This life must be worthy of the Gospel.
11:45In other words, it must agree with this.
11:48With this expression we understand that the Gospel is not a document that we have to read, know or memorize.
11:56Rather, it is the rule of behavior for those who have been born again.
12:01And this further explains why evangelization and personal acceptance of this Gospel are necessary.
12:11The Gospel is more than letters and knowledge.
12:14It is and should be the norm of life for a Christian.
12:19A rule that must always be lived and everywhere.
12:24This is what a Christian is.
12:26But what's going on?
12:28What do we see today?
12:31Sadly, today the Gospel is far removed from the lives of the vast majority of Christians.
12:36And we don't see that there is a way of life that provides an exemplary way of being according to what we
12:45Jesus Christ taught.
12:47Christians, you and I, must live and begin a new life.
12:54Which must be in correspondence with Christ.
13:09In that regard, I would like to quote an author named Antonio Romero.
13:14It says that the Christian life becomes holy when one walks with Christ.
13:20Which sanctifies our entire life.
13:25All aspects of our lives.
13:27All the demonstrations are being carried out in a Christian manner.
13:34This is how our life should be.
13:37However, how sad that it's in a different way.
13:42Okay, we'll be back in a moment to continue with our topic.
13:45Speaking of the spirituality of Saint Paul.
13:48We'll be right back.
13:52Thank you!
13:54Thank you!
13:54Thank you!
14:05Thank you!
14:07Thank you!
14:08Thank you!
