00:00Hey, what's up? It's Nikki Vaughn and you know what it is another episode of Doggy Dog Thursdays with my friend Sarah from Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit and our very special guest.
00:10This is Van the Man. He is actually named after Van Morrison, so fitting that he is at a radio station.
00:17So cool.
00:18So he is about two. He came in as a stray. He was actually brought in by the Dearborn police.
00:24They found him outside and he's actually been with us for about seven weeks now, which is surprising to us because he's very sweet.
00:32Yes, he is.
00:33He's a big cuddle bug.
00:35Yes, and he's so soft and talkative.
00:37Yeah, of course you're quiet now.
00:39Oh, we should keep him here at the station.
00:41Good station.
00:42I think so too. Now, how long have you had Van?
00:46He's been with us about seven weeks.
00:48Okay.
00:48He is FELV positive, which is feline leukemia.
00:52Okay.
00:53So basically it just means that he needs to definitely be an indoor cat, which we suggest for all of our cats anyway.
00:59And he just needs, you just need to watch his nutrition, make sure he gets a well-balanced diet, lots of water.
01:05Okay.
01:06And he will live a healthy life. It just, it can compromise their immune system, makes them a little more susceptible to illness.
01:13But as long as he's an indoor cat and taken well care of, he will live a long, happy life.
01:18So we always talk about families. What type of family would be perfect for Van, the man?
01:23So we think pretty much any family. He's very calm. He's very lovable.
01:28Yes, he is.
01:29He's very cuddly. So someone that's willing to give him some attention and give him some love.
01:33And I think he'd be a good lap cat.
01:35But he's also playful because he's, we think he's about a year and a half to two.
01:38So he'll still have, you know, his kitten tendencies and all his fun stuff.
01:43We do suggest that if you are interested in adopting him, you can call us at 313-943-2697 and talk with one of our adoption counselors.
01:53They'll go over everything FELV related.
01:56If you have other pets, it doesn't mean you can't adopt him.
01:59There's just some other precautions.
02:00So they'll go over everything and make sure he's a good fit for you.
02:03And of course, you can come down and meet him.
02:05Sounds great. Give that number one more time, Sarah.
02:08313-943-2697.
02:11Perfect. So if you want to visit Van, the man, and see Sarah and all the other animals at Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit,
02:18just check them out at the website.
