00:00Our family's particularly different to a lot of the families in Emmerdale because we've got a
00:12really strange relationship haven't we? Because we were never together when our baby was born.
00:17Exactly, but they've done very well at kind of co-parenting haven't they?
00:20Yeah. The Sugden family is such a family family. I think they always have put that first,
00:27family comes first. What Emmerdale do really really well and that what the
00:31writers do really well is the right things that people can relate to, that
00:35families can relate to. People in their everyday lives don't necessarily know
00:40what other people are going through and Emmerdale reaches out to a lot of people
00:45who can hopefully go oh it's not just me that feels like that or is going through
00:49that. Every family can identify I think with one family or another in Emmerdale.
00:53There's no such thing as normal in a family especially in a Soap family where
00:57you know often a lot of the families are fragmented over time.
01:01Smile. Cheers!
01:02They've definitely hit on the nuances of the fact we represent social diversity and I
01:09think that's really important and but I what I think they've done so brilliantly
01:12is that they haven't put too much emphasis on it.
01:15I love you. I love you too. Obviously David owns the shop and he's got Jacob but that's another...
01:21That's very interesting Jake because he's not your biological son is he?
01:24No not in any way but he calls me dad. David's practically brought him up since he was little.
01:31Who is your favourite Emmerdale family? I don't know.
01:33I think it would be impossible to answer that question without talking about the Dingles.
01:37If you ever mention Emmerdale to anyone the Dingles are probably the family that they will
01:41first think of. They've been here for so long.
01:45I always liked the Bartons when they first came in and took over the farm.
01:49I think Emmerdale is great at telling diverse, difficult sometimes stories that really do represent
01:57a true modern day family.
