00:13My name is Sarah Jane Smith, and I defend the world from aliens.
00:18These are my alien files.
00:20The collected information gathered by me and the rest of the Bannerman Road gang
00:24about extraterrestrials that have threatened our planet and might do so again.
00:30The universe is amazing, and don't be fooled by what some people might tell you.
00:37It's full of strange and wonderful life.
00:39I've met so much of it out there among the stars, and here on Earth,
00:43but not all of it is friendly.
00:46Pay attention, because one day, Earth might be depending on you.
00:51Entering the alien files this time are Space Police, the Jadoon,
01:00Alien Secret Protector, Mr. Dread,
01:03and Androvax, the Galaxy-Destroying Veil.
01:10Mum?
01:12Oh, no-one home.
01:13Dear Luke, sorry to miss you.
01:19Investigating a fossilised Silurian egg at the Ferris Institute.
01:23Might be a while.
01:24Pizza in the fridge if you're hungry.
01:25Love, Mum, Clyde and Rani.
01:27Typical.
01:29We come home from uni and everyone's off chasing aliens.
01:32Ah, well, Mr. Smith, I need you.
01:34Ah, Luke.
01:41Home again?
01:42Home alone, more like.
01:44Do I detect a certain wistful desire for your alien-chasing days, Luke?
01:48Well, astrophysics is pretty cool,
01:51but not as cool as hunting aliens.
01:53Not even as cool as getting hunted by them, come to think of it.
01:57Well, perhaps work on the latest updates to Sarah Jane's files
02:01will help you feel a little less alienated.
02:04Oh, Mr. Smith, was that a joke?
02:07I'm really not sure.
02:09Upload to the Alien Files commences in three, two, one.
02:20Most urgently required is collation of available information on Androvax,
02:25long thought to be the last known survivor of the Vale Race.
02:28What do you recall of your encounter with him?
02:31I remember it was a Sunday.
02:33Mum had been on a story, and when she got home,
02:36there was something in the sky.
02:37Something burning up has entered the atmosphere.
02:40But it was no comet.
02:43It was pretty spectacular.
02:45And the truth behind it was pretty amazing, too.
02:47It crossed the solar system in 45 minutes.
02:53Oh, well, we're not talking about a meteor, are we?
02:56It was a prisoner transportation craft carrying Androvax,
02:59although we didn't know that then,
03:01and its pilot, Captain Taibo, was in big trouble.
03:03I intercepted the following distress signal.
03:09He was a Jadoon, and his craft with Androvax on board
03:12had crashed to Earth only a few miles away.
03:14I think a profile of the Jadoon might be in order first, Mr. Smith.
03:19They're not the bad guys, but that doesn't mean they're not dangerous.
03:24The Jadoon are thick-skinned, yellow-blooded humanoids,
03:27two metres in height.
03:28Like the wasp-like Vespiform,
03:32the fish-like Haff,
03:33and the cheetah people,
03:35the Jadoon resemble an Earth animal.
03:38In this instance, a rhinoceros.
03:41They serve the Shadow Proclamation,
03:43and their strict obedience to the law
03:45and brutality in maintaining it
03:47has seen them employed as a mercenary interplanetary police force.
03:51Interplanetary thugs.
03:53That's what the doctor calls them.
03:55Indeed.
03:56Their obsession with working within the rules
03:58can hamper their operational effectiveness.
04:01Halt! Do not infringe directive!
04:04And they have the ability to analyse and translate
04:06any language using scanner devices.
04:09To sum up,
04:10the Jadoon are trigger-happy and brutal law enforcers.
04:14Logical, but stupid.
04:16They tend to execute first,
04:19ask questions later.
04:21Get down!
04:23Too right.
04:23No sooner had we met Captain Tybo
04:25of the 1005th Jadoon Guard.
04:27Then he was ready to shoot the lot of us.
04:30Not that we'd done anything wrong.
04:32The scary thing is that Tybo wasn't really the problem.
04:35The real worry was that Tybo had lost his prisoner.
04:39He knew he was deadly,
04:40and out there somewhere.
04:42Jadoon!
04:43Androvax, the last of the veils.
04:54Would a data update on the veil be in order?
04:57Is the sky blue?
05:00Yes.
05:01A figure of speech.
05:03The veil are reptilian humanoids with scaly skin, horns, and a long tongue.
05:10Androvax was long thought to be the only known survivor
05:12after their planet was destroyed when its sun was extinguished.
05:16While the Cybermen have repeatedly tried to invade Earth,
05:19and the beast claims to have been spreading evil since before the universe existed,
05:24it is Androvax the veil who tops the Jadoon's most wanted list
05:28for his terrible crimes,
05:30which include the destruction of 12 planets.
05:33And number 13 on his hit list was Earth.
05:35After his own planet was destroyed,
05:39Androvax believed destruction to be the way of the universe.
05:43He's capable of stunning adversaries,
05:45but his most notable attribute is the ability to possess the bodies of others.
05:50To sum up,
05:51an embittered and vengeful adversary.
05:54A merciless killer whose body-jumping powers are impossible to resist.
05:59And that's a party trick that has to be seen to be believed.
06:05Androvax came to you in Sarah Jane's body,
06:28and you couldn't do anything but follow his instructions.
06:30Unfortunately, I am programmed to respond to Sarah Jane.
06:34I cannot choose when to conform to the rules or not.
06:38Just following orders?
06:39You sound like Captain Tybur.
06:41I trust you are not comparing me, a Ziloc,
06:44with that galactic Jobsworth policeman?
06:46No, of course not.
06:50Androvax headed for the attic.
06:52He was in possession of Sarah Jane's thoughts as well as her body,
06:55so he knew that your supercomputing powers, Mr Smith,
06:58could be just what he needed.
06:59I'm detecting an alien presence.
07:03Ignore it.
07:04But my analysis suggests that it's a veiled life form.
07:09Mr Smith,
07:10is your central processor fully functioning?
07:14I believe so.
07:16If you wanted to stay that way,
07:18you would do what you're supposed to do and obey me.
07:20Got that?
07:21Yes, Sarah Jane.
07:22Understood.
07:23Good.
07:23Androvax took the information he needed from you, Mr Smith,
07:28and then programmed you to self-destruct.
07:32So when we found you,
07:34there wasn't any time to waste?
07:36Only 60 seconds to be accurate.
07:38Luke, Clyde, run.
07:40Get out of the house, now.
07:41I don't understand.
07:43Sarah Jane has instructed my self-detonation protocols
07:45to initiate on activation.
07:47I will explode in 60 seconds.
07:49Oh, boy.
07:50The explosion will destroy all of Bannerman Road.
07:53You must run.
07:54Now.
07:56But it wasn't Sarah Jane that ordered you to explode.
07:58It was some freaky alien insider.
08:00This was not good.
08:02But what I didn't do was panic.
08:04That's the worst thing you can do.
08:07Come on, Luke.
08:08You can do this.
08:09I'm trying to think.
08:10You haven't got time to think.
08:11You're a genius.
08:12Robert Einstein did.
08:13He's a guy when any computer in his attic
08:14could turn into a bomb.
08:15Trying to keep calm and logical is always best.
08:19Mr Smith,
08:19you're a Ziloc.
08:21And what is most important to a Ziloc,
08:22purpose?
08:24I was expecting wire cutters here,
08:25not chit-chat.
08:26And what is your purpose?
08:28What did Mum tell you was your purpose?
08:29To defend and protect Earth.
08:31And that purpose overrides all other protocols?
08:33Yes.
08:34Ten Earth seconds.
08:35Mum's orders endanger Earth.
08:37Your purpose overrides her commands.
08:38You have to stop the detonation.
08:40Your point seems logical.
08:41I must consider it.
08:42No, just do it.
08:45Detonation suspended.
08:46Who else can talk a bomb out of going on?
08:53Your exemplary powers of logic were most effective.
08:57Well, we'd saved Bannerman Road,
08:59but Androvax was still out there in my mum's body.
09:02And he had big plans.
09:03He needed a ship to get away.
09:07And fast.
09:09He knew that experiments were being carried out
09:11on a new technology called nanoforms.
09:14And drawing on information he had got from you,
09:16Mr Smith,
09:17he was going to use them to make him one.
09:19Your nanoforms.
09:20They're going to build me a spaceship.
09:26Data profile on nanoforms uploading.
09:30Nanoforms are microscopic robots
09:33created to deconstruct objects at molecular level
09:36and reconstruct them into new forms.
09:39It is a technological advance
09:40capable of totally changing,
09:42but also of destroying worlds.
09:45They get into the environment,
09:47they take the whole planet apart!
09:48They have been programmed to build my spacecraft.
09:52My escape from the Jadu.
09:56Then what better way to cover my tracks
09:59than to destroy Earth?
10:05Do your work,
10:09my army of the infinitesimal!
10:16It was awful seeing my mum possessed like that.
10:19My mum.
10:20Sarah Jane acting like a destroyer of worlds.
10:23Ready to destroy her own world.
10:25But I knew the real mum was in there somewhere.
10:28My mum will beat you.
10:29I don't care what you are.
10:31She's strong
10:32and is going to kick you out.
10:34You can fight him, Sarah Jane!
10:35No, you're in there.
10:37You can beat him!
10:38I love you.
10:39I love you.
10:39Mum.
10:42Luke.
10:43I love you.
10:46Mum.
10:48It was one of those times when
10:54everything looked pretty dodgy.
10:56I would concur, Luke,
10:58that the outlook appeared distinctly bleak.
11:00Until Clyde came up trumps.
11:03They're right behind us!
11:04He and Ronnie escaped into one of the labs
11:06and were desperately trying to find something,
11:08anything,
11:09to stop the out-of-control nanoforms.
11:10The doors won't last much longer.
11:16Vink!
11:16What would Luke do?
11:17I don't know.
11:18I get by on good looks and one-liners.
11:20I'm not supposed to understand all this techie stuff.
11:23Yeah, I know you're the cool one.
11:24But cool isn't much help right now.
11:26That's it.
11:28Cool.
11:29Luke said nanoforms have to be stored
11:30at sub-zero temperatures.
11:31Dormant!
11:32He said they were kept dormant.
11:33If they get cold, they go to sleep.
11:34Yeah.
11:34Here they come.
11:44Activise this.
11:49It's working!
11:50It's working!
11:58You're not so fuzzy now, are you?
12:01Just shows that Clyde does listen sometimes.
12:03He'd listen more if he knew he'd get the chance
12:05to zap stuff with fire extinguishers more often.
12:08That certainly is Clyde's style.
12:11Meanwhile, I went aboard the spaceship
12:13that the nanoforms had created.
12:15And even though we were in terrible danger,
12:18what all those microscopic robots had built
12:20was awesome.
12:22It's amazing.
12:25But for Androvax,
12:27this amazing ship was just a way of escaping.
12:29It's time to leave.
12:31Or so he thought.
12:32Mr. Smith showed me the ship's schematics.
12:35I know everything about it.
12:36Where the door controls are,
12:37and that you can't take it anywhere
12:38without this,
12:39the ionic fusion bar.
12:40Give it to me!
12:41You can have it, Androvax,
12:42but you have to come and get it,
12:44not my mum.
12:46Release my mum,
12:47and you can take off
12:47after you disable the nanoforms.
12:49What do you say?
12:50Deal?
12:51No wonder Sarah Jane is so proud of you.
12:54It makes me want to be sick.
12:57Give it to me!
12:58We were about to do the deal
12:59and save Earth from the nanoforms.
13:02When guess who turned up?
13:03Androvax, the annihilator.
13:05Prepare for judgment.
13:06No.
13:07Captain Tybo.
13:08And he'd brought some Jidun reinforcements.
13:11Great timing.
13:12I know they were supposed to be
13:13keeping law and order,
13:14but sometimes the so-called
13:15intergalactic police
13:16caused more problems
13:17than the real bad guys.
13:18You will face
13:20shadow proclamation
13:21and execution.
13:25No!
13:26First you have to let him
13:27disable the nanoforms!
13:29It's too late.
13:31All Tybo was interested in
13:33was arresting Androvax.
13:35He didn't care a bit
13:36if Earth got destroyed
13:37in the process.
13:38So disabling the nanoforms
13:40was going to be down to me.
13:41I know this sounds like
13:47a stupid question,
13:48but do you know what you're doing?
13:50The nanoforms built this computer
13:51and I can use it
13:52to get into the Genetech systems
13:53and delete their programming
13:54before this place collapses.
13:57If you are ever in a really tight spot,
13:59try to block out
14:00unnecessary distractions
14:01and concentrate.
14:04And if you remember one thing
14:05from these alien files,
14:07remember this.
14:08Panic will get you nowhere.
14:10And?
14:11Send!
14:20We did it!
14:20Oh, I missed you!
14:22Oh, I knew I could depend on you!
14:25The nanoforms have all been deactivated.
14:27They're harmless now.
14:29Silence!
14:29The Jadoon had their prisoner back.
14:32For now, anyway.
14:34And took him away
14:35in the craft the nanoforms had built.
14:36And Earth was safe.
14:38However, Androvax did not remain a prisoner of the Jadoon long.
14:46He has been back to Earth, Luke,
14:48while you have been away.
14:49Mum said.
14:50Wanting Sarah Jane's help.
14:52And of course,
14:54Mum might be wary,
14:55but she's always prepared
14:56to give anyone the benefit of the doubt.
14:58Even Androvax.
14:58It is an admirable quality.
15:01Whether it's the blatherine bearing gifts
15:03or Mrs. Wormwood asking for her assistance,
15:06Sarah Jane always wants to believe the best of any visiting alien.
15:10Yes, but this was Androvax.
15:13You'd better take me through it.
15:16The first indication of any irregularity
15:18was when Rani's father, Haresh,
15:21was observed looking for a lizard-like alien
15:23that his wife, Geeta, insisted she had seen.
15:27I'm armed!
15:36Haresh?
15:37Dad, what are you doing?
15:40I'm sorry.
15:41Geeta thought she'd seen someone suspicious.
15:44And you thought they needed a hand change and a tire?
15:46But Geeta had been right.
15:49It was Androvax,
15:50back on Earth
15:51and looking for a body to inhabit.
15:55Mr. Smith!
15:56I need you!
15:58Now!
15:58Rani, I sense you're not quite yourself today.
16:02You're just as annoying as you were
16:04the last time I was here.
16:06And I hoped we'd seen the last of you then.
16:08I don't mean you harm.
16:10What?
16:11And that's why you jumped into Rani, is it?
16:13Get out of her, you freak!
16:17You okay?
16:18Yeah!
16:19Yeah, I'm fine.
16:20Androvax, here in the attic.
16:22Again.
16:23Makes my skin crawl to think of it.
16:25Mr. Smith, containment vortex!
16:29Understandably, Sarah Jane opted for caution.
16:32But my analysis revealed that Androvax was gravely ill
16:35after receiving a swamp viper bite.
16:37And he claimed to be here not bent on destruction,
16:40but seeking assistance.
16:41I don't have much time.
16:44I need you to help me.
16:45Help save my people.
16:47Your species is dead.
16:48Your planet turned into a ball of ice when its star died.
16:51Before our planet was destroyed,
16:53my people launched a ship.
16:55Aboard it were a hundred of my kind in cryogenic sleep.
16:57But they crashed.
16:59On Earth?
17:00Forty years ago.
17:01The craft carrying the cryogenically frozen veils
17:04had been stored in a hyper-dimensional vault,
17:07along with many other confiscated spacecrafts.
17:10They were deposited there by an android called Mr. Dread.
17:14Mr. Dread?
17:16He sounds like a nice guy.
17:18Oh, no, Luke.
17:19Quite the reverse.
17:20He's like Captain Tybo.
17:22Another one to shoot first, ask questions later.
17:25I was being ironic, Mr. Smith.
17:28Oh, I see.
17:29So what does this Mr. Dread do?
17:32Is that a genuine question, or an ironic comment?
17:36Genuine question.
17:37Good.
17:39Mr. Dread is a dark-suited android
17:41with two similarly dressed associates.
17:45His weaponry includes a built-in laser blaster in his left hand
17:48and the ability to activate a force field to ward off incoming fire.
17:53He was employed by the Alliance of Shades,
17:56an alien initiative to prevent human awareness of extraterrestrial life.
18:01He has wiped the memories of thousands who had encountered aliens.
18:04He and his fellow Men in Black remove all incriminating alien evidence
18:08to the hyper-dimensional vault for safekeeping.
18:10And that incriminating alien evidence included Androvax's people's ship.
18:16Indeed.
18:17Access to the vault required two activator discs,
18:20and Androvax only had one.
18:23He thought that I, as the most powerful computer on Earth,
18:26might be able to assist in his predicament.
18:28I need Mr. Smith to help me crack the vault's second code.
18:33You've got to help me.
18:34I have destroyed twelve planets.
18:37Twelve civilisations.
18:39Please help me save just one.
18:43Mr. Smith, deactivate the containment vortex.
18:46What are you doing?
18:49Sometimes I think my mum should be a bit more like Clyde.
18:52I assume you are referring to his tendency to be wary
18:55rather than his questionable sense of humour.
18:57I mean, Clyde's almost naturally suspicious.
19:01But Sarah Jane's instincts to help Androvax's people
19:04overrode her misgivings about his lamentable track record.
19:08Welcome to the British UFO Research and Paranormal Studies Society.
19:13Ealing branch.
19:15Her first course of action was to visit a ufologist called Ocean Waters,
19:20who Sarah Jane thought might be able to help.
19:23To avoid attracting attention, Androvax travelled there in Clyde's body.
19:28Clyde?
19:33And a disc around Ocean's neck soon caught his attention.
19:37It was a second activator disc,
19:39just what Androvax needed to access the vault.
19:42Somehow, this has always felt so special.
19:45I have no idea where it came from, where I bought it or found it.
19:49It's just always felt so precious.
19:52I haven't taken it off in 40 years.
19:55Androvax, no!
20:00Prepare to be incinerated.
20:04And guarding the vault is what Mr. Dread exists to do.
20:11Mr. Dread, no!
20:12Give me the activator disc.
20:14Never!
20:15We only want to save Androvax's species.
20:17Why would you help us?
20:18The equilibrium must be maintained.
20:20What does that mean?
20:21The Vale ship must not be taken from the hyperdimensional vault.
20:24And your pities?
20:25The ship's star drive engines will disrupt the vault matrix.
20:30The dimensional disturbance will tear your planet apart.
20:33Sarah Jay had taken Androvax at his word.
20:36But now he had the two discs,
20:38where the Earth would be destroyed as a result,
20:40was of no interest to him.
20:42So there you go.
20:43How long was it exactly before Androvax reverted to his double-crossing ways?
20:47One hour and eight minutes.
20:53But by now, Androvax's illness meant he was getting ever weaker
20:56and needed to occupy new bodies to boost his depleted energy levels.
21:03It's you!
21:08Rani's mother, Geeta, was next.
21:10You know, with all the aliens we get down Bannerman Road,
21:15Rani's mum's been really lucky not to run into more of them.
21:18Not that Geeta's close encounter lasted long.
21:23The energy boost from occupying each new body
21:26only gave Androvax a temporary relief from his extremely weakened state.
21:31You gonna be all right?
21:32Of course not!
21:35The swamp vibe of Venom is killing me!
21:38Then give me my mum now!
21:39I need her to free my people!
21:42We all want to save the people we love.
21:44But you don't need my mum.
21:45You can take me.
21:47Mo!
21:48Look, I need to save my mum!
21:51Your body for hers.
21:52I'm younger than she is.
21:54I'm fitter.
21:56Take me.
21:57You have a deal.
21:58Go Rani.
22:12Go Rani.
22:12One double cross, a double cross.
22:14Result.
22:14So it appeared.
22:17And without a new body to occupy so as to replenish his strength,
22:21the end appeared imminent for Androvax, the destroyer of worlds.
22:25Swamp vipers.
22:26They don't give you any second chances.
22:29No, it doesn't seem like it.
22:31It doesn't seem like it.
22:32Hello again, old friend.
23:02With renewed energy and two activator discs, Androvax's dream of saving his people from extinction
23:08and destroying humanity in the process was almost within his grasp.
23:13But what happened to Androvax?
23:15The swamp viper venom took him.
23:17So why are we opening the vault?
23:20Well, if you can save just two of his people, the veil species still has a chance.
23:24So there's no need to start the star drive.
23:27Mr. Smith can arrange for a passing ship to take them to a new planet.
23:32So there's no need to start the star drive.
23:54Opening the vault revealed the full extent of its hyperdimensional properties.
23:59Behind the doors, it was capacious to a degree that humans find hard to grasp.
24:04There isn't much time.
24:08Sarah Jane?
24:11Tell you that!
24:12No way!
24:12Oh, somebody told me I didn't just see that.
24:17If you start that ship's engines, the vault will be destabilized.
24:21The dimensional imbalance, it will destroy Earth.
24:25Destruction and reverse, Sarah Jane Smith.
24:29It is the way of the universe.
24:31No!
24:32Oh, you took the other disc.
24:38We can't get in there.
24:43Is that it then?
24:44We're all going to die?
24:46I realize all this is new to you, Geeta.
24:49But there's one thing we never do in this situation.
24:51And that's give up.
24:53Yeah, but I really wish Luke was here now.
24:55Well, Luke isn't here.
24:56All we've got is Mr. Dread.
24:57That hurt.
25:05I'm sorry, but we need your help.
25:08Andromax has started his ship's star drive.
25:10I did warn you.
25:12Earth will be destroyed in approximately two minutes.
25:16The laws of hyperdimensional physics cannot be changed.
25:19Then you said, Mr. Dread, the transmat equipment.
25:21That's how you put all those ships in there, isn't it?
25:23Yes.
25:24Then you can use it to beam that ship out of there and into space.
25:28Theoretically, there is no power source.
25:31Yes, there is.
25:32You.
25:32You've got a power cell that will keep you running for 500 years.
25:35Oh!
25:36Come on, Mr. Dread.
25:37If you've always been here to protect the Earth from alien stuff,
25:40then now is the time to really get stuck in.
25:42I want you to know, this is not in my job description.
25:51Hurry up, Mr. Dread.
25:52I don't think we've got much time.
25:53Andromax's ship was beamed far enough away from Earth so as to prevent any dimensional
26:23disturbance when its star drive engines were started and Earth was saved.
26:30So Andromax's people may have the chance to live again.
26:33Although whether Andromax himself has found a way to survive his illness is unknown.
26:44I need a holiday.
26:45We did it!
26:46We did it!
26:48We saved the world!
26:49Ah!
26:51Yay!
26:52No!
26:52Wow!
26:54And Rani's mum saw all of this.
26:56And she knows about what we do and everything.
26:58That's a bit of a nightmare, isn't it?
27:01Fortunately, Mr. Dread's memory-wiping powers came in handy.
27:05She can't remember a thing.
27:07I think that's probably for the best.
27:09To conclude, Luke.
27:11Uploading three new entries into the alien files as a permanent record for all to learn
27:17about these deadly threats to Earth's safety.
27:24The Jadoon.
27:25These trigger-happy law enforcers can be as brutal as the criminals they seek to apprehend.
27:31Their logical approach is undermined by their stupidity.
27:35Do not underestimate the harm these supposed protectors of the law can do.
27:39Androvac's The Veil.
27:43Embittered by the destruction of his home planet, this vengeful killer cannot be trusted.
27:50Merciless in his appetite for destruction, watch out for his body-jumping powers.
27:55Never turn your back on him.
27:57Even for a second.
28:00Mr. Dread.
28:01An android who will let nothing get in the way of the mission with which he has been charged.
28:07His laser blaster is lethal.
28:08And his force field provides high-level protection.
28:13Approach with caution if you do not want to be incinerated.
28:16Right. Mum, Ronnie, Clyde.
28:18I've updated the alien files and Mr. Smith has been filling me in on what you've been up to while I've been away.
28:23And I thought those molecular physics tutorials have been exciting.
28:27See you soon.
28:28And for anyone else who might need to use this information, good luck.
28:31The battle for regionals is finally here, but who will win?
28:39The next step, regionals week.
