00:00Hello Dailymotion! New format, new challenge, and you're in charge.
00:05Welcome to Did You Ever Know? The show where you give me any topic.
00:10Sports, cinema, philosophy, manga, plumbing if you like.
00:14And I have to find an anecdote that no one knows.
00:18But be careful, if I don't find it, I'll have to draw a picture of the subject,
00:22and even if it's ugly, I'll have to show it to you.
00:24And for this very first episode, I set a trap for myself.
00:27I chose my favorite manga, GTO, Great Teacher Unizuka.
00:31So I thought, easy, I know it by heart.
00:34But very quickly, I realize that everyone already knows all the same things.
00:38Everyone knows the anecdote that he was a thug in a Young GTO gang,
00:42that there was a drama that came out in the 90s,
00:45and that the author was inspired by his own teachers to write the story.
00:48Anyway, I'm starting to panic.
00:50So I dug, dug, dug Japanese interviews, obscure forums,
00:55I even dug out some old scans, and I also looked in my old collection.
01:00And there, jackpot.
01:02Did you ever know that the creator of GTO, whose name is Toru Fujizawa,
01:07he admitted that he sometimes wrote entire chapters without Onizuka,
01:10just because he had no more inspiration for him.
01:12It's like doing Naruto, without Naruto.
01:15But wait, it's not over.
01:17The first name Eikichi Onizuka is a nod to a highly cult Japanese rock singer.
01:22Eikichi Yasawa, the author wanted to pay homage to him by giving this badass first name to his character.
01:28In short, Onizuka is literally the rockstar of manga.
01:32GTO challenge completed, no drawing this time.
01:36The next topic is up to you.
01:38Like this video as much as you can with your heart,
