00:00Okay, open them up!
00:05Better use those brains!
00:13A Barbie production.
00:15We have Alicia and Laura starring in today's challenge.
00:18Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourselves?
00:20Hi Barbie, I'm Alicia.
00:22I'm 11 years old and I've been cooking for about 4 years now.
00:26My name is Laura, I'm 9 years old
00:28and I've been cooking for about 2 years now.
00:31Ooh, I love your unicorn headband, Laura!
00:34Thank you Barbie!
00:35As usual, because you should always cook with the help of an adult,
00:38our executive chef, Kim, is here too!
00:41Well, as you both may know,
00:43Skipper, Stacy, Chelsea and I love to get all our friends together
00:46for pizza parties at the Dream House.
00:48So much pizza!
00:51But here's the thing, we're fresh out of pizza dough!
00:56I need your help.
00:58Do you think you can make us great pizzas without the dough?
01:02I don't know.
01:03I don't think I've ever made pizza without pizza dough.
01:06Well, it's time to think outside the box for this one.
01:10And I have a couple of boxes that might help you do just that.
01:14Time to see what's in today's mystery boxes!
01:18Boom!
01:20Looks like we've got spinach, corn, and hot dogs.
01:25Laura, do you think corn will be good on pizza?
01:30It sounds a little weird, but some people like corn on pizza,
01:34so I don't know.
01:35Alicia, how do you feel about a hot dog on a pizza?
01:39I usually say with the basic ingredients for pizza,
01:42never something like hot dogs.
01:45Are you ready?
01:46It's time to get this pizza party poppin'.
01:49Yes!
01:50When I say go, you'll have 30 minutes to serve up some radical pizza pies.
01:55Okay.
01:56Ready?
01:57Ready!
01:58Go!
02:00Remember that time I did the pizza challenge with Ken on my vlog?
02:04I made him eat a pizza with bananas on it.
02:08He couldn't do it.
02:13Laura, looks like you're using a croissant roll for your dough.
02:16Why don't you tell us your plan with that?
02:18My croissant roll, I'm just going to flatten out the pizza
02:21to make do as my pizza dough.
02:25Alicia, talk to me about your pizza.
02:27I'm planning on making a pizza with naan bread.
02:32I like it better than pizza dough because it's so soft.
02:35The pizza dough is kind of tougher.
02:37Laura, why don't you tell us what you're blending up?
02:39Um, I'm making my sauce right now.
02:42I have corn, garlic, cherry tomatoes,
02:45and my special ingredient, roasted bell peppers.
02:48Nice use of the corn there.
02:51What are you putting on your pizza?
02:53I am putting some mozzarella cheese right now
02:55just so it can melt on all my stuff that I put on
02:58because as you can see, it's a mountain of stuff.
03:00I love cheese!
03:02Laura, why don't you tell us how you learned how to cook?
03:05I learned how to cook from my grandmas
03:06because my grandma would make the best tamales
03:09and my other grandma would make the best papusas.
03:13What is a papusa?
03:14Papusa is basically this dough-wrapped treat
03:17and inside can be beans, cheese, and chicharron.
03:19I love chicharron.
03:21Chicharron is the best.
03:22What about you, Alicia? How did you learn how to cook?
03:25I've taken a cooking class or two,
03:27but my mom and my Lola were really influential.
03:36I bet the crescent roll will be a delicious pizza base.
03:39And now it's time for a little science.
03:41Tell us how that dough rises, Nikki.
03:43You bet your pepperoni it will.
03:45Just like pizza dough, the crescent roll dough
03:47will rise in the oven because the dough contains baking powder.
03:51Baking powder is a mixture of powders that are both acidic and basic.
03:55When the dough goes into the oven,
03:57the heat makes the acidic and basic powders
03:59produce a gas called carbon dioxide.
04:01The carbon dioxide makes little air pockets in the dough,
04:04causing it to rise and be fluffy on the inside.
04:06Yum! I can't wait to try it!
04:09Hey, why don't you tell the viewers what's going on
04:11with the cheese in that oven?
04:13So Alicia is using mozzarella on her pizza
04:16because it melts easy.
04:17The heat from the oven will cause the oils in the cheese
04:20to rise to the top.
04:22As the cheese gets hotter,
04:23the bonds that hold the molecules of the cheese together
04:26begin to break, causing the mozzarella to collapse
04:29into a soft, gooey, delicious goodness.
04:31Safety tip!
04:33When working with hot appliances,
04:34make sure to have an adult close by as your assistant.
04:37You can never be too careful.
04:39Wow, those pizzas are smelling incredible.
04:42One more minute.
04:44You can do it!
04:47Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one!
04:57Stop!
04:58It's pizza time!
05:00AKA, the best time of any day.
05:02Those pizzas look amazing!
05:04I can't wait to try them!
05:05So let's get on with tasting time!
05:08Laura, tell me about your pizza.
05:10I call my creation the rainbow pizza.
05:13And on the rainbow pizza, I have crescent dough
05:17and a sauce made of roasted bell peppers, cherry tomatoes,
05:22corn, garlic, and salt and pepper.
05:25Then I have fontina cheese, sautéed hot dogs with olive oil,
05:29and it is covered with baby spinach.
05:32What a creative presentation!
05:34It's really beautiful!
05:35Time for you to try it!
05:37Mmm!
05:40Alicia, what do you think?
05:41It's very cheesy, and you can really taste the bell pepper.
05:45Laura, are you happy with your creation?
05:47I think my creation came out very good
05:49because it has a very strong flavor,
05:51and, like, at the end it has, like, a sweetness flavor,
05:54and it's really good.
05:55It's totally delish!
05:57I wish I had more!
05:58Now, it's Alicia's turn.
06:00Tell me the name of your pizza.
06:01The name of this dish is Viva La Alicia, along with Alicia,
06:05and it's a naan bread crust with a pesto sauce folded into corn.
06:13On top of that is sautéed hot dog with onions and mushrooms.
06:19Dig in, pizza queens!
06:21Laura, how is it?
06:23It was really good.
06:24It was really sweet, and you can really taste the corn.
06:26Alicia, how do you think it turned out?
06:28I think this is really good.
06:30I feel like the hot dog balances out the sweetness of the corn
06:35and the, kind of, sourness of the onion.
06:42It's good.
06:44I love both these pizzas.
06:47You two are a couple of pizzanistas.
06:50Thank you, Barbie.
06:51Thank you, Barbie.
06:52Laura, I was really impressed with your use of the crescent roll dough.
06:55That's why I'm awarding you with best technique.
07:00Alicia, you put together an amazing combination of flavors.
07:04So, I'm awarding you with best taste.
07:07Thank you, Barbie.
07:08Great job, you two.
07:10I cannot wait to try your techniques at my next pizza party.
07:13What would you make with today's ingredients?
07:16Today, we learned how to think outside the pizza box.
07:20With a little imagination, you can be anything.
07:23Yay!
07:24Yay!
07:25Goodbye.
07:28A Barbie production.
07:30Anything is possible, but unstoppable.
07:34Me and my girl.
07:35H-A-R.
07:37We are my king.
