More than 200 people have been arrested at a protest in Parliament Square in support of the banned group Palestine Action, the Metropolitan Police said.Hundreds had descended on the square for the demonstration as part of a busy weekend of protests in the capital. The Met said it had drafted in officers from other forces to form a “significant policing presence” and warned it would arrest anyone expressing support for the proscribed group.

00:00I'm standing outside Parliament, which is meant to be the mother of democracies,
00:05and I'm watching people being arrested for simply holding up the sign.
00:10There are hundreds of people here of all ages simply wanting to make their point about what's happening in Gaza,
00:18and also obviously protesting against the prescription of Palestine action.
00:24Good people here simply trying to get a message across for being arrested.
00:29The police officers who prefer to be patrolling our streets and keeping us all safe,
00:34rather than having to go through this exercise which is undermining our history and tradition of civil liberties
00:42and the right to protest and the right to free speech.
00:45Here we are outside Parliament.
00:47It actually is a disgrace that this sort of action is taking place in our country,
00:54by peaceful protesters of being arrested simply because they wanted to reasserve their right to assemble,
