00:00Hi, I'm health reporter Sarah McCann. An estimated 1.5 million people in the UK currently use
00:06weight loss medications, with that number predicted to rise after GPs were given the
00:11green light to prescribe weight loss jabs in June. With so many people on these medications,
00:17it's important to know what to expect. We spoke with Well's Pharmacy pharmacist Alex
00:22to find out more. When speaking to a trained pharmacist, we obtain information during the
00:27consultation. We get a full understanding of the patient, their past medical history, their diet,
00:32lifestyle and any specific requirements that that person might need. With all this information,
00:37we can make an informed choice and ensure the patient receives treatment that is suitable and
00:40tailored to them. It's important that they meet the requirements of the indication of the medicine,
00:45as will be the case with all medicines. As a pharmacy and as a registered professional,
00:49we have a duty of care to ensure the service we're providing to our patients is safe and
00:52appropriate and at Well Pharmacy, we pride ourselves on that. Patients can expect to have a
00:57consultation with a trained healthcare professional. They should expect to receive information about
01:01the treatment, but most importantly, have someone there who is able to help them on their journey,
01:05set objectives with them and be available to answer their questions, no matter how many they
01:09might have. Alternatively, you can find out more information about weight loss and weight loss
01:14treatment available on the NHS at Better Health.
