00:00Today we are going to laugh a little. Deepak has brought some funny superstitions that we
00:13still see in our India. Deepak please share with us.
00:17Thanks Sonia. Yes friend some of these beliefs are so funny but still people follow them
00:22seriously. Let's check a few.
00:24First one I remember, my mom never allowed me to cut nails at night. Why is that?
00:29That's a classic. Long ago electricity was not there. People feared losing small nail pieces
00:35in dark which could hurt later. But today with tube lights everywhere still many follow this rule.
00:41Haha true. And what about the black cat? Even educated people stop their car if one crosses.
00:47Exactly. This came from old jungle days. Panthers and black animals were feared at night.
00:54Slowly it became a bad luck sign. Now poor cats are blamed for everything.
00:59Oh yes. I also heard shaking legs means money will run away. My daddy used to shout at me for that.
01:06Haha. I got scolded too. Actually shaking legs was seen as impatience and wasting energy.
01:12But no. Money doesn't get wings and fly away because of it.
01:16One more. I was told never to sweep the floor after sunset. Otherwise Lakshmi Devi will go away.
01:22That again was practical. In old times with lanterns people could lose small valuables like coins
01:28or jewelry while sweeping at night. So they made it a superstition.
01:33So basically these funny beliefs had some logic once but today they just look silly.
01:38Correct. Our India is full of such everyday mysteries. Some are harmless fun but some stop us
01:44from using common sense. Viewers which superstition made you laugh the most? Tell us in the comments.
