00:00Ever since The Flash TV show wrapped up, fans have been buzzing about whether we might
00:12ever see Grant Gustin and his team suit up again, either in live action or animation.
00:18It makes sense, because when The Flash finally ended its 9-season run in 2023, it marked
00:24the conclusion of not just Barry Allen's story, but also the Arrowverse as we knew it.
00:30The show lasted nearly a decade, gave us 184 episodes, and became one of the most beloved
00:36parts of The CW's superhero lineup.
00:39So even though the main series is over, there's still a huge appetite for more stories from
00:44this world.
00:45That's part of why the idea of a Flash movie, or even an animated follow-up, is such an exciting
00:50possibility.
00:52It might not have happened yet, but everything from the cast's enthusiasm to DC Studios'
00:57current plans shows there's a clear path for it to happen, and plenty of reasons to stay
01:02hopeful.
01:03Recently, at Fan Expo Cleveland, Grant Gustin reunited with several of his Flash castmates,
01:09including Candace Patton, Danielle Pannebaker, and Tom Cavanaugh, to reminisce about the show.
01:16Naturally, someone asked if they'd be interested in coming back for an animated Flash movie that
01:21continues the Arrowverse's story.
01:24Without missing a beat, they all lit up.
01:26Gustin said he'd absolutely be on board.
01:29Cavanaugh jumped in with a 100% absolutely.
01:32Pannebaker chimed in with, I'm available, and Patton cracked that they all have bills
01:36to pay, so of course they'd be in.
01:39It was a funny, candid moment, but also super encouraging because it shows the cast hasn't
01:44grown tired of these roles.
01:46They're still deeply connected to these characters and would happily step back into those shoes
01:51if given the chance.
01:52It's especially worth noting because Grant Gustin's Barry Allen is arguably the most popular
01:58live-action Flash we've ever had.
02:01Sure, Ezra Miller brought the Scarlet Speedster to the big screen, but there's something about
02:06Gustin's take, his heart, vulnerability, and optimism that resonated in a bigger way.
02:13After nearly a decade, fans still feel like he is the definitive Flash, which is why there's
02:18so much interest in seeing him headline a movie, and that could actually happen for a bunch of reasons.
02:24For starters, DC has already laid the groundwork for stories like this to fit into their new plans.
02:31Under James Gunn's vision, the DC universe is getting a clean slate, but they've also confirmed
02:37they'll be producing Elseworlds stories, projects that exist outside the main continuity.
02:42That's exactly where a Gustin-led Flash movie, either animated or live-action,
02:48could fit in perfectly.
02:49It wouldn't have to compete with whatever the new DCU does with their version of Barry Allen,
02:55and it wouldn't confuse audiences because it would be labeled as its own separate universe.
03:00Animation might even be the smartest first step.
03:03It's more financially manageable than live-action, which comes with expensive sets,
03:08special effects, and all that lightning CGI.
03:11Plus, the Arrowverse already has a history of spinning off into animated side stories,
03:16like Vixen and Freedom Fighters' The Ray.
03:19So, it's totally believable that they could continue Barry's adventures
03:23in a high-quality animated movie that still uses the same cast's voices.
03:28It would let them revisit this world in a fun, less risky way,
03:32while keeping the characters alive for fans who followed them for nearly a decade.
03:36And when you think about it, there's still a bunch of great story potential left on the table.
03:42The show wrapped up well, but there are countless comic book arcs that never made it to the screen.
03:47A movie could pull from epic tales like The Flash Rebirth,
03:51or dig deeper into the Speed Force mythos in ways the series never fully explored.
03:56It might even let Barry team up with speedsters across the multiverse again,
04:00but this time with more room to breathe than a single crossover episode.
04:05Another reason this feels possible is simply because of the passion of the actors.
04:10Gustin, Pannebaker, Patton, and Cavanaugh clearly still care about these characters.
04:16Even though Carlos Valdez recently admitted he wouldn't want to return as Cisco right now,
04:21he still talked about his years on The Flash with genuine love.
04:25He described it as joyful and illuminating and said he'll always be grateful for that chapter of his
04:31life. It's not so much that he's against ever being Cisco again, just that he feels he's grown
04:37beyond it for now. But honestly, even if Cisco didn't come back, there are so many other characters
04:43fans would be thrilled to see in a new project. Plus, doing something like an animated movie opens
04:49up the door for them to bring back beloved characters who had bittersweet or final endings
04:54in the live-action series. Animation has a freedom to go a little wilder with alternate timelines,
05:00the multiverse, and second chances. It could be a way to honor the Arrowverse's legacy while telling
05:07fresh stories that don't mess with the satisfying conclusions of the show. The timing could also work
05:12out really well. Right now, James Gunn's DCU is still in its early stages, meaning it'll be a while
05:19before we see how they plan to introduce their version of The Flash. So in the meantime, doing an
05:26Elseworlds project with Guston would keep the character relevant and continue feeding fans love
05:31for the speedster. It's actually a smart move for DC Studios because it uses a version of the character
05:37people already adore, without stepping on the toes of their long-term plans. It also helps that
05:43audiences were pretty underwhelmed by The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller. That film's multiverse
05:49story was hyped to be a game-changer but ended up not honoring much of The Flash's broader live-action
05:55legacy, especially the rich history built by Guston's and John Wesley Shipp's TV versions.
06:01So it left a big opening for a project that does lean into what fans actually want. A new movie or
06:07animated feature starring Guston's Barry could explore multiversal team-ups, alternate speedsters,
06:13or even give us a version of Flashpoint that feels more connected to everything we loved about the
06:18Arrowverse. And while it's true that the Arrowverse got a pretty definitive wrap-up,
06:23the Flash was literally the last Earth Prime show standing, it doesn't mean the stories have to
06:28stop forever. If anything, giving it a break and then coming back with a special project
06:34makes it even more exciting. Imagine the buzz if they announced a return, even just as a limited series
06:41or a standalone film. It would draw in long-time fans and probably even new viewers curious to see why
06:48this character has been such a fan favorite for so long. Honestly, the best part is that there's
06:53no real downside to doing this. The cast is game, the fans are hungry for it, and DC Studios' new
07:00multiverse-friendly approach gives them the perfect excuse. Whether it ends up being a heartfelt,
07:05animated adventure that brings back Barry, Iris, Caitlyn, and Joe for another race against Destiny,
07:12or a smaller-scale live-action special that reminds us why we fell in love with these heroes in the first
07:17place, there are countless ways this could work. So even though nothing official has been announced yet,
07:23it really feels like a Flash movie is more possible than ever. With the actors eager to return,
