Newcastle v Wolves - Liam Keen and Nathan Judah preview
Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judo. I'm here with Wolves Report. It is Mr Liam Keane from a sunny Compton Park.
00:06It's been a bit rainy. The sun's out now. Rainbow potential situation?
00:09Maybe. I can't wait, mate. Let's find out. Happy days.
00:12Feeling rough after last night? It's not great, mate. I'm not a bit tired, to be fair.
00:16A little bit tired, but he was fantastic even.
00:18I tell you lots of tired. The Wolves players. Let's veto.
00:21We just heard from him. Big game, of course.
00:24Tomorrow. Can't wait for that drive. Absolutely buzzing.
00:26Nine and a half hour round trip. Hopefully for three points.
00:29We'll take one, though. We'll take anything at this point, mate.
00:32To be honest, I think Vito would take anything as well. I think he would.
00:34He was a little bit, I'm not going to say down in the dumps today, but look, I think frustrated.
00:39He's only had one day to work with these players, hasn't he?
00:41And that's difficult when you've got zero points in three games,
00:44and you go into a very difficult away game at St James' Park.
00:47Yeah, he definitely came in and was a little bit, maybe stern, a little bit short
00:51with a couple of the broadcast questions to start with.
00:53I thought he warmed up and was a lot better with a lot of other questions,
00:55which will be more to come later tonight and this afternoon as well.
00:59But he felt like he was faced with a really difficult situation
01:03and a difficult way to describe it because he's had limited time to work with these players,
01:07having come out for international break.
01:09He said today training was the only day he's had everyone together, bar Larsson, which we'll come on to.
01:15And basically said, look, we're going to have to go and do our best at Newcastle,
01:19which is not the most inspiring of messages.
01:21No.
01:22But if all can go there and get something and put a performance together,
01:26it would be probably against the odds and a shock,
01:29but it would be massive for this team moving forward because they've got some big games to come.
01:32They certainly do.
01:33Look, let's go on to Jorgen Strun-Larsson.
01:35He was asked about Jorgen Strun-Larsson and about his availability.
01:37Will he start?
01:38Will he be on the bench?
01:39No, he's not.
01:40Jorgen Strun-Larsson will not be playing against Newcastle United
01:42and potentially Wolves could lose him for multiple games.
01:45Yeah.
01:46He said he hasn't trained at all.
01:48He said he's not in condition to play is the phrase he used
01:51and said that the Achilles injury that we're all aware of,
01:54albeit, of course, this is in tandem with the interest from Newcastle and the two rejected bids.
01:59The injury that he has has stopped him or is more serious
02:03and stopped him from being part of Wolves in the last few days.
02:06So he won't be playing tomorrow at all, according to Vito.
02:09Which is a big blow.
02:10Which is a massive blow.
02:11Of course it is.
02:12He's a really, really important and key player to this team
02:14and to lose him for any amount of time is a massive blow.
02:17Wolves needed him against Everton and didn't have him.
02:19So that's a really difficult one to deal with.
02:22The second one, in fact, he's just left in the car past us right now.
02:25Nice car.
02:26It's Keanu Hoover.
02:27Yeah, very nice car.
02:28Yeah, that's the second injury concern.
02:30Vito said that he's technically available now after his knee injury,
02:33but that he's had a conversation with the player.
02:35He's still got discomfort in his knee in training
02:37and he hinted heavily that he was going to be left out.
02:39The fact that he's now left in that car hints that he probably isn't going to be playing.
02:43In terms of Jorgenstron Larsson, though, look, he said they don't know.
02:46Look, he's working day by day.
02:48They want to get him back as quickly as possible.
02:50Of course, we also know that he's got in contract talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers
02:54to extend his deal or sign a new deal after the interest for Newcastle United.
02:57And Jeff Sheehy is very strong and not going anywhere.
02:59And he didn't go anywhere.
03:00But they need him back sooner rather than later, don't they?
03:03Like you say, OK, not for Newcastle, but a massive game on the horizon,
03:06a home game against Leeds United.
03:08You've got Sunderland in less than a month's time as well.
03:11These are massive games against the bottom three.
03:13We all know that Wolves are probably going to struggle.
03:15They're going to be in a battle this year.
03:17You need your number nine playing, starting and scoring goals.
03:21Absolutely, you do.
03:22He's so important to the way Wolves play and his quality.
03:27He's a goalscorer and Wolves need that.
03:29They do have other players, of course.
03:30Look, Todor Akadari is coming in for his debut hopefully tomorrow,
03:33but we expect him to probably be in and around the squad.
03:36And he's a player that people have got some high hopes for as well.
03:39So all is not lost without Larsson.
03:42This team doesn't crumble without him, but it does make it hard for you to pick up points.
03:46And Wolves at the moment with zero points on the board
03:48and some really big games coming up.
03:49I have to get results sooner rather than later.
03:51They do.
03:52Look, it's an interesting one in terms of team selection.
03:54I think there's quite a few ways it could go.
03:56What do you think there's going to be on Saturday?
03:58Yeah, I'm a little bit uncertain, but I'll go with what I think and inevitably be a couple out.
04:03Of course.
04:043-4-3.
04:05Yes, I'll go with that.
04:06Let's go Sarr in goal.
04:07I think Tatua, right wing back.
04:09I'm really unsure about the centre-back situation,
04:12but they recalled Krajci from the Czech national side early
04:17and they allowed that to happen.
04:18The national team.
04:19So I've got a feeling you might play him when I start.
04:21I think so.
04:22Let's say he goes in the centre.
04:23Agbadi maybe move over to the right.
04:24Totti on the left.
04:25And I'm going to go with Hugo Bueno, but I think it's a root.
04:28It's a toss of a coin.
04:29Yeah, between him and Wolves.
04:31I've got Andre Jardim's midfield.
04:32And my front three, I think, with no lasting there, would be Minetzi, Hwang and Arias, in my opinion.
04:40But I think that's a decent effort.
04:43I think the only one I would say is Emmanuel Leipzig would do.
04:47Because, you know, he's bang out of form.
04:49Do you take him out of the limelight?
04:50Do you go into a dock or a Santi Brenna on the right and just bring Krajci in the middle?
04:54I think that would be interesting.
04:55And I think Fir Lopez is pushing for a start.
04:57I agree with you.
04:58I think maybe he goes with Arias because he's been playing.
05:00But I wouldn't be surprised if Fir Lopez gets a start there.
05:03Although I think maybe we're more likely to see him start against the United.
05:06Scoreline, please.
05:07I'll stick with what I said on the live podcast last night.
05:10Crowd pleaser.
05:11Yeah.
05:122-0 defeat.
05:13I desperately hope that I'm wrong.
05:14But I think it's going to be a difficult afternoon for Forbes.
05:16It's a difficult afternoon.
05:17But look, they're difficult afternoons last season.
05:19Vito Pereira did a fantastic job.
05:21I can remember going to Bournemouth, everybody thinking that we'd get battered three or four times.
05:23We'd get battered three or four-nil.
05:24They came out with a one-nil win.
05:25Maybe they could galvanize.
05:26Maybe they could get a point.
05:27And if they got a point or even three points, you know, with the backs against the wall,
05:30then this would be an absolutely magnificent start going into Leeds United.
05:33And things would look a lot more rosy.
05:35Fingers crossed.
05:36Myself and Liam will be at St. James' Park tomorrow for all the previews to this one.
05:39Make sure you log on to expressandstar.com, baby.
