00:00real sense of where negotiations go from here how do you read this scenario have you
00:04spoke recently to any of any officials connected to to hamas to understand their position
00:13well first of all um i admire greatly the qatari determination to continue with the process
00:22um the israelis have done this before during the shalik deal when it was almost on the verge of
00:30having an agreement for his release in december 2008 they chose the very morning when those
00:39negotiations were to happen they chose instead to take the military option and that was to
00:45bomb gaza and we had the 2008-2009 war now that set back i think the release of gilat javid by at
00:54least three years and the lesson from it should have been that military pressure only stiffens
01:03resistance and i think it was march last year that the qatari prime minister himself reminded
01:10um prime minister method netanyahu but basically it was diplomacy not bombing that got the release of
01:19the hostages so i hope they can remain in this state but having been in jerusalem the last couple
01:26of days i honestly think we are heading to a very very dark place tell me what you mean by that and
01:35particularly when it comes to to your thoughts on a cease the ceasefire negotiations do you see them
01:40on kind of permanent hold what's your take well what i was picking up was that actually the war
01:49is likely to go on for another six months now the thought of that is just horrendous because i think
01:55of the two over two million people in gaza who are suffering unimaginable so another two or six months
02:04of this is unthinkable it was also expressed to me and i would say from informed sources that gaza will
02:12become so unlivable in to reconstruct it it will be necessary to actually evacuate the whole of the
02:21population again that's i would say a disaster waiting because what i know of the gazzan people
02:29their resilience they will resist evacuation even though in the face of death
