00:00Hi, so today we're going to be helping my largest anaconda, Annie, shed.
00:07She's actually about to start her shed right now, and I caught her kind of in the middle of it,
00:12and I was just taking her out of her bathtub, and she started, which is what I was kind of hoping for.
00:18So I'm just going to help her get it off, because she's kind of looking for something to rub her nose on right now, to start it.
00:26And she's kind of digging into the carpet and stuff, so I'm going to help her.
00:32Oh, that's what I was trying to avoid.
00:35Here we go, though.
00:39All right, she's started now.
00:42So all I really need to do right now is just hold on and let her do the rest.
00:56There she goes.
01:21So all I'm doing right now is just holding the shed that's coming off, kind of like what they would do is rub themselves against something
01:32to just kind of push off against and have the shed come off naturally.
01:37The only thing I'm really doing is just having it out in the open like this.
01:46And sometimes what happens is their shed will kind of roll up like this.
01:48I've had to cut a shed off before in the process, because it got kind of tight on her.
01:54But I'm trying to, as much as it's happening, I'm trying to avoid it with this shed.
01:59So she is actually very, very hydrated because she gets a lot of baths as an anaconda.
02:06That's why it's coming off so easily.
02:09And this is how an anaconda should be shedding.
02:11It should be coming off really easily and nicely like this.
02:14And it should be coming off more or less in one piece, especially with aquatic species like this.

02:45I don't even think she needs much of my help anymore, but I'm going to anyways.
02:50As you can see, her new skin is really nice and shiny.
02:54I think this part just kind of rolled off a little bit, so I'll take that ring off.
03:10So when they're so hydrated and their skin comes off so fast and so easily,
03:17sometimes it just comes off too fast and turns into a little ring like this, like a little onion ring.
03:22But, um, she's about halfway done right now.
03:37This is the part that goes by pretty fast.

04:22So we always want to make sure that no shed gets stuck on the tail,
04:47because that's one of the most important parts to get off.
04:50Always the head and the tail.
04:55I think I can let her just do this.

04:59So, as you can see, they also shed on their vent, so it's important to get that off as well.

05:37So their tail likes to grab onto things.

05:53And she's leaving, but here we go.

06:09That's a fully shedded, nice anaconda.
