00:00:00I have a very short question to ask. In your speech, you talk about the hijab being something that serves to protect a woman.
00:00:05But how is it not extremely patronizing and degrading in not allowing the woman to make that decision herself?
00:00:10Sister posed a very good question that when I say that hijab is required for a woman, isn't it not degrading for the woman to patronize it?
00:00:17Isn't it degrading? If you read the Quran, the Quran and Islam has prescribed hijab.
00:00:22That means the woman should be covered. The only part that can be seen are the face and the hands up to the wrist.
00:00:27This is for the modesty. And it is not only mentioned in the Quran, it is also mentioned in the Bible.
00:00:33If you read the Bible, in the 1st Timothy, chapter number 2, verse number 9, it says that women should be dressed up with shamefacedness.
00:00:41They should be dressed up with sobriety and should not wear braided hair or gold or pearls.
00:00:46It's further mentioned in the 1st Corinthians, chapter number 11, verse number 5, verse 6.
00:00:50The woman that does not cover a head, then she dishonors a head. A head should be shaved off.
00:00:55Anyway, I don't agree with this. I'm just quoting you from the Bible.
00:00:57Same way, if you go to the Vedas, it says that the woman should cover the head.
00:01:01So all the religious scriptures, they talk about the woman covering their head.
00:01:05It is for modesty. It is not to degrade the woman.
00:01:08And if you analyze, there was allegation made against me saying that Dr. Zakir Naik says that if they don't wear hijab,
00:01:15you know, that if you wear Western clothes, there are chances that women will be raped.
00:01:19It is a misquotation again.
00:01:20What I said that if women wear revealing clothes, they have more chances of being raped.
00:01:25What I was doing, the same newspaper, Sunday Times, which spoke against me,
00:01:30one year before, on the March of 9th, 2009, Sunday Times carried an article.
00:01:35In Britain, one out of seven feel that the woman who wear sexy revealing clothes, she should be hit.
00:01:42I'm sorry, I don't agree with it.
00:01:44This is the statistics that was given in the Sunday Times on the 9th of March, 2009,
00:01:49that in Britain, one out of seven Britishers believe that the woman who wear revealing and sexy clothes should be hit.
00:01:55I disagree with this.
00:01:56Furthermore, one more article came in 2005.
00:01:59In the same newspaper, Sunday Times, it said that 26% of the Britishers,
00:02:04they feel that wearing revealing clothes is partially or totally responsible for the rape.
00:02:11So what I say that the more modest you are dressed up, you are respected more.
00:02:15So Islam has prescribed the modest hijab for the woman not to degrade her but to uplift her.
00:02:22I do agree there may be cultural differences.
00:02:25Islam cannot force anyone to adopt it.
00:02:27There are cultural differences.
00:02:28For example, I'll give you an example.
00:02:31That some societies, what they feel, that even looking at a woman is immodest.
00:02:35Some societies feel looking is no problem but touching a woman is immodest.
00:02:39Some of the societies feel shaking hand is no problem.
00:02:41Some societies feel kissing no problem.
00:02:43Some societies feel doing anything as long as both agree is no problem.
00:02:47Different societies and different cultures have got different rules and regulations.
00:02:51When I went to America, while I was giving a talk, one of the Americans told me,
00:02:55You Eastern woman, you're immodest.
00:02:57I was shocked.
00:02:58I said, why do you call the Eastern woman immodest?
00:03:00He told me, you Eastern woman, you expose your belly.
00:03:04So in American Western country, exposing belly is immodesty.
00:03:09In India, exposing belly is not immodesty.
00:03:12Wearing shorts is immodesty.
00:03:13So what do you realize, sister?
00:03:15There's different culture.
00:03:16There's different system.
00:03:17Islam cannot force anyone to adopt.
00:03:19It's clearly mentioned in the Quran in Surah Baqarah, chapter number 2, verse number 256.
00:03:23Like Rafiddeen, there is no compulsion in religion.
00:03:26But if some women want to adopt the hijab because they feel modest and they feel respected,
00:03:31I feel no other woman should disagree.
00:03:33And when I've been to UK, I've seen hundreds and thousands of women who do cover their hair
00:03:38and who feel that they are uplifted because of this modesty.
00:03:41Hope that answers the question.
00:03:42The question I have is you profess to be a man of peace.
00:03:45You've spoken very eloquently about the idea of peace and Islam.
00:03:47Peace is written in front of your microphone as you stand there.
00:03:50And I agree with you in many senses.
00:03:52But my question is, why then is your message still seen as so controversial?
00:03:55Why are there figures within the Islamic world?
00:03:57Why are there fellow Islamic clerics who see your message and still believe that you are wrong?
00:04:01Why?
00:04:01You've claimed that the Home Secretary has banned you from this country because of a sort of media conspiracy.
00:04:07But why is there a broader sense of discontent with your message?
00:04:09The brother asked a very good question that why if I'm a man of peace and I speak about peace,
00:04:15some people are against me, some Muslims, some non-Muslims, the Home Security.
00:04:19Brother, you have to understand that any person who's popular, there are bound to be people who are against him,
00:04:24irrespective whether the popular person is doing good work or bad work.
00:04:27And the best example I can give you that today, according to Michael H. Hart,
00:04:32he wrote a book saying the 100 most influential people in the world history.
00:04:36Though he's a Christian, he put number one most influential human being as Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
00:04:42Today, do you know, though Muslims consider him to be the most important and the most influential person in history,
00:04:46there are many non-Muslims who think the same.
00:04:48But today, if we analyze the maximum books written against any human being on the face of the earth,
00:04:54it is Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
00:04:55The second person he named in his list was Isaac Newton.
00:04:58But because he's not a common man for common human being, he's a scientist.
00:05:01The third person on his list was Jesus, peace be upon him.
00:05:04If we analyze today, the second person in human history who has maximum books written against him,
00:05:10it is Jesus Christ, peace be upon him.
00:05:12Based on this argument, do we have to agree that Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,
00:05:17and Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, they were not good?
00:05:19What we have to realize, when a person gets popular, there are bound to be people against him.
00:05:24And according to the Home Department of UK, when I had come in the year 2009,
00:05:29I was informed by reliable sources, that according to the Home Department of UK,
00:05:33the most popular Islamic satellite channel in the world is Peace TV,
00:05:38and the most watched Islamic satellite channel in UK is also Peace TV.
00:05:42Not only is it watched by Muslims, but even watched by non-Muslims.
00:05:45The same report said that the most popular Islamic speaker in the world is Dr. Zakir Naik,
00:05:50and the most popular Islamic speaker in UK is also Dr. Naik.
00:05:53That's the reason the Home Department was requesting me that can I reach out to those Muslims,
00:05:59which the UK government cannot.
00:06:01But not because of the change of government, what I feel, it was more of a political move,
00:06:07rather than a legal move.
00:06:10And as maybe they wanted someone popular, so that they could pass the message that we are tough fucking Muslims,
00:06:15and that's the reason what we feel, that we have more faith in the judiciary system,
00:06:21rather than the political system.
00:06:23I think it was mainly because of popularity, and it was mainly a political move,
00:06:27rather than a legal move.
00:06:29And inshallah, God willing, we feel that this exclusion order would be reversed by the Court of Appeal, hopefully.
00:06:35Dr. Naik, I'm Yasmin, I'm a student at the university,
00:06:39and my question is sort of related to the last question.
00:06:42You talked about you wanted to come to the UK,
00:06:45because you wanted to reach out to Muslims,
00:06:47who you felt that the government were not able to reach out to.
00:06:50And I wondered why, in your opinion,
00:06:53you felt that the government were failing in this way to reach out to Muslims in Britain.
00:06:58Sister has a question that I wanted to come to UK to reach out to those Muslims,
00:07:02who the government could not reach out.
00:07:05Sister, there's a slight confusion.
00:07:06I said, Charles Farr, the Director General of the Office of Security and Counterterrorism,
00:07:12felt that I could reach out to those Muslims who the government could not reach out to.
00:07:17He felt that, not me.
00:07:18And I think, again, because the information which the Home Department has,
00:07:21that Peace TV is the most popular Islamic satellite channel in UK,
00:07:26watched by the Muslims as well as the non-Muslims,
00:07:28and the most popular speaker, according to the Home Department,
00:07:31not according to me, according to the Home Department, is Dr. Zakir Naik.
00:07:33So, I repeated what he thought that I could reach better.
00:07:36Maybe he thinks that my speeches have influenced,
00:07:38and he may have read my speeches in context.
00:07:40That's the reason he was not in favor of the Home Secretary,
00:07:45that she passed the exclusion order.
00:07:47Hope that answers the question.
00:07:48Do you think that he has a point?
00:07:49Do you think that, in some sense,
00:07:52the government are failing to reach out to Muslims in prison, though?
00:07:55If you ask my opinion,
00:07:57that do I agree with the thoughts of Charles Farr,
00:08:00that the government is failing out?
00:08:02Yes, I do agree with him.
00:08:03I do agree because, as I said in my earlier answer,
00:08:06that the government should not think that Muslims are part of the problem.
00:08:10The government should think that Muslims are part of the solution.
00:08:13Because a Muslim,
00:08:15there are many Muslims who are British citizens,
00:08:18and it is the duty of every Muslim
00:08:20to follow all the laws of the country staying in
00:08:23as long as the law does not force him to do something
00:08:27which is prohibited in the religion
00:08:28or prevents him from doing something which is compulsory in the religion.
00:08:31As far as India is concerned,
00:08:32I do not know of any rule or any law in the constitution
00:08:37which forces a Muslim in India
00:08:39to do something which is prohibited.
00:08:41Neither does it prevent me from doing something which is compulsory.
00:08:45So, I am a practicing Muslim
00:08:47and I am proud to be an Indian.
00:08:48So, I am proud to be an Indian Muslim.
00:08:51Similarly, there are many Britishers who I feel
00:08:53may be feeling the same.
00:08:54They may be Muslims
00:08:55and they may be following the laws of the country
00:08:58so they are British Muslims.
00:08:59So, I feel that the government should take in confidence
00:09:02and what they should do
00:09:04that they should see to it
00:09:05that this maligning by the media should stop.
00:09:09And the best example,
00:09:10best example is myself.
00:09:11I mean, there are many,
00:09:12there are 100 million views of Peace TV
00:09:14and there are millions of people
00:09:16who tell that I am the ambassador for peace.
00:09:18They say I am a peaceful person.
00:09:20There are many heads of states
00:09:22of several foreign countries.
00:09:24Many.
00:09:24They have called me as the state guest.
00:09:27So, do you mean to say
00:09:28all these heads of states
00:09:29of several countries,
00:09:31the President,
00:09:31the Prime Minister,
00:09:32the King,
00:09:33the Sheikh,
00:09:33they meet me,
00:09:34they have done a way.
00:09:35Do you mean to say
00:09:35they are meeting a person
00:09:36who is promoting terrorism?
00:09:38A person who spreads hate?
00:09:39So, what I am saying
00:09:40that this is all again
00:09:42manipulated by the media.
00:09:44So, the government
00:09:44should not fall prey to the media
00:09:46and take any decision easily.
00:09:49What they should do?
00:09:50They should give a chance
00:09:51for the person to clarify.
00:09:53And then,
00:09:54I am sure
00:09:54that most of the misconceptions
00:09:56will be removed
00:09:57and I am sure
00:09:59that UK would be
00:10:00a more peaceful country to live in.
00:10:02My name is Dr. Ramsey
00:10:03from Oxford,
00:10:05Ambassador of the Universal Peace Federation
00:10:07and one of the members
00:10:08of the Muslim Council of Britain.
00:10:10Now, my question,
00:10:11Dr. Zakhanai,
00:10:12in your opinion,
00:10:13is Islamophobia
00:10:14a real phenomenon?
00:10:16And if so,
00:10:17how do you suggest
00:10:19it can be tackled?
00:10:20Does the responsibility
00:10:21lie with the Muslim community
00:10:24or should Western society
00:10:26be doing more
00:10:28to breach
00:10:29this barrier of fear?
00:10:31I am talking about the fear.
00:10:32All phobias are fear,
00:10:35fear of unknown.
00:10:36The brother asked a very good question
00:10:37that is Islamophobia
00:10:39a real phenomenon?
00:10:40How should it be tackled?
00:10:42Is it the responsibility
00:10:43of the Muslim community to do it?
00:10:44Yes,
00:10:45there is Islamophobia,
00:10:46especially in this 21st century.
00:10:48And as I mentioned in my speech,
00:10:50I believe
00:10:51one of the major reasons
00:10:52for this Islamophobia
00:10:54is the media.
00:10:55And I said in my speech
00:10:56that the media spreads
00:10:58several misconceptions
00:10:59about this religion of Islam.
00:11:01I do agree
00:11:02it is the duty
00:11:03of us Muslims
00:11:05that we should spread
00:11:06the true teachings of Islam.
00:11:08I am aware
00:11:08that there are black sheep
00:11:09in the Muslim community.
00:11:10I am not saying
00:11:11all Muslims are 100% pious,
00:11:12all are good.
00:11:13There are black sheep
00:11:13in every community
00:11:14including Muslims.
00:11:15What does the media do?
00:11:16They pick up the black sheep
00:11:17of the Muslim community
00:11:18and they portray on the media
00:11:20as though they are exemplary Muslims.
00:11:22What we have to do
00:11:23is we have to portray
00:11:25the right teachings of Quran
00:11:28and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad
00:11:29peace be upon him.
00:11:31And if any Muslim
00:11:32is involved in doing acts
00:11:33which are against the religion of Islam,
00:11:35which are acts of terrorism,
00:11:36killing of innocent human beings,
00:11:38it is the duty of us Muslims
00:11:39that we should tell such people
00:11:41it is haram.
00:11:42There are some people
00:11:43who are being misguided
00:11:44and they are being brainwashed
00:11:46into saying
00:11:47that killing innocent human beings
00:11:49is part of Islam.
00:11:51You will get reward.
00:11:52It's our duty
00:11:52as the mainstream Muslims
00:11:54to try and convey
00:11:56the right message of Islam
00:11:57and prevent such Muslims
00:11:59from being misguided.
00:12:00That's point number one.
00:12:01Point number two,
00:12:02it's our duty
00:12:02to tell the government
00:12:04of the country
00:12:05where you are living
00:12:05that Islam is a peaceful religion
00:12:08and what I believe
00:12:09that Muslims
00:12:10should be part of the solution.
00:12:12They should not be part of the problem.
00:12:14The government should not think
00:12:15that Muslims
00:12:17are part of the problem.
00:12:18They should think
00:12:19Muslims are part of the solution.
00:12:21And that advice
00:12:22I even give to the police of India
00:12:23and the police of Bombay
00:12:24and I interact with the police force
00:12:26very often.
00:12:26And I tell them
00:12:27that you should take
00:12:28the Muslims in confidence
00:12:29and the best is
00:12:31to have an interaction.
00:12:32I have addressed
00:12:33many police officers
00:12:34from very different countries
00:12:35and we should try
00:12:37and have a question on secession
00:12:38and remove the misconceptions
00:12:40in their minds
00:12:41and prove to them
00:12:42that Islam is one
00:12:44of the most tolerant religions.
00:12:45It's a peaceful religion
00:12:46and if you know
00:12:48the teaching of Islam,
00:12:49surely the least person
00:12:51that you have to fear
00:12:52is a true Muslim.
00:12:54I'm not talking about
00:12:55the black sheep
00:12:55of the Muslim community.
00:12:56You gave a very
00:12:57excellent exposition
00:12:59of the Koran
00:13:01and Islam,
00:13:02but Judaism,
00:13:04Christianity
00:13:04and Islam
00:13:05are all
00:13:07Abrahamic faiths.
00:13:08A Jew
00:13:09could have said
00:13:10the same thing
00:13:11or almost the same things
00:13:12as you said
00:13:13by quoting
00:13:14the Koran.
00:13:15Sorry,
00:13:15it's quoting the Torah
00:13:17and the Talmud.
00:13:18A Christian
00:13:19could have said
00:13:20almost everything
00:13:20you said
00:13:21by quoting
00:13:22both the Old Testament
00:13:23and the New Testament
00:13:24and I do not know
00:13:26whether we should be
00:13:28trying to say
00:13:30one religion
00:13:30is superior
00:13:31or more truthful
00:13:33than another
00:13:34and if we do
00:13:35go down that line,
00:13:36what does that lead to?
00:13:38That's what led
00:13:39to the Crusades,
00:13:40etc.
00:13:40You mentioned
00:13:41about justice
00:13:42and peace.
00:13:42Of course,
00:13:43the Christian Bible
00:13:44mentions more
00:13:45verses about justice
00:13:47and peace
00:13:47than there are
00:13:48about the Holy Spirit
00:13:50and of course,
00:13:51Christians were pacifists
00:13:52until 313.
00:13:55So,
00:13:56what is the difference
00:13:57between what you are saying
00:13:59and Judaism
00:14:00and Christianity
00:14:01and what would that lead to?
00:14:02That's a very good question
00:14:03and I do agree with him
00:14:04that if you read
00:14:06the books of Judaism,
00:14:07the books of Christianity,
00:14:09you will find
00:14:09verses of peace.
00:14:10Never in my lecture
00:14:11ever did I say
00:14:12that any religion
00:14:13is against peace
00:14:14or any religion
00:14:15is in favor of terrorism.
00:14:16I always said
00:14:17all religions
00:14:18are against terrorism.
00:14:19What I made
00:14:20one statement in my speech
00:14:21that the verse
00:14:22of the Quran,
00:14:23chapter 5,
00:14:24verse number 32,
00:14:25this verse
00:14:25which is so emphatic
00:14:27I do not find
00:14:28a similar verse
00:14:29in any of the scripture
00:14:31because
00:14:31I am a student
00:14:32of comparative religion
00:14:33saying that
00:14:34if you kill
00:14:34one innocent human being
00:14:36it is as though
00:14:37you have killed
00:14:38the whole of humanity
00:14:38and
00:14:39if you save
00:14:40one innocent human being
00:14:41it is as though
00:14:42you have saved
00:14:43the whole of humanity.
00:14:44It was only one verse
00:14:45so that generally
00:14:45I do agree
00:14:46that most of the religions
00:14:48almost all
00:14:49they speak about peace
00:14:50that's the reason
00:14:51Jesus Christ
00:14:52peace be upon him.
00:14:53If you read
00:14:53the gospel of Luke
00:14:54chapter number 24
00:14:55verse number 36
00:14:56when he goes to the upper room
00:14:58he says
00:14:59when he wishes apostles
00:15:00Shalom Aleikum
00:15:00which means
00:15:01same
00:15:02peace be upon you
00:15:03in Hebrew
00:15:03so the greetings
00:15:04of Jesus Christ
00:15:05peace be upon him
00:15:06too
00:15:06when he met
00:15:07the people
00:15:08was Shalom Aleikum
00:15:08which meant
00:15:09same in Arabic
00:15:10As-Salaamu Aleikum
00:15:12may peace be on you.
00:15:13Regarding you
00:15:14saying that
00:15:15one religion
00:15:15superior to the other religion
00:15:17I believe
00:15:18Almighty God
00:15:19sent only one religion
00:15:20He has not
00:15:21sent different religion
00:15:21what the Quran says
00:15:22He has made
00:15:23human beings
00:15:24into different tribes
00:15:25different colors
00:15:26different languages
00:15:27so that they may
00:15:28recognize each other
00:15:29not they may
00:15:30despise each other
00:15:31the only religion
00:15:32that God
00:15:33has sent
00:15:34to all His messengers
00:15:36whether it be
00:15:36Moses
00:15:37whether it be
00:15:38Jesus
00:15:38peace be upon him
00:15:39Moses
00:15:39peace be upon him
00:15:40Muhammad
00:15:40peace be upon him
00:15:41it was
00:15:42to submit
00:15:42their will
00:15:43to Almighty God
00:15:44I believe
00:15:45all these messengers
00:15:47right from
00:15:47Adam
00:15:48Noah
00:15:49Moses
00:15:50Jesus
00:15:50Muhammad
00:15:51peace be upon them all
00:15:52all of them
00:15:53brought the same message
00:15:54that believe in one God
00:15:56and worship Him alone
00:15:57and only Him
00:15:58and submit
00:15:59your will
00:16:00to that Almighty God
00:16:01Islam
00:16:01comes from the root
00:16:03word Salam
00:16:04which means peace
00:16:05it's also derived
00:16:07from the Arabic word
00:16:08Silm
00:16:09which means
00:16:10to submit
00:16:11your will
00:16:12to Almighty God
00:16:12Islam in short means
00:16:14peace acquired
00:16:15by submitting
00:16:16your will to Almighty God
00:16:17and any person
00:16:19who submits
00:16:20his will to Almighty God
00:16:21he is called
00:16:21as a Muslim
00:16:22many people
00:16:25have a misconception
00:16:25that
00:16:27Islam
00:16:27is a new religion
00:16:29which came into existence
00:16:311400 years ago
00:16:32and Prophet Muhammad
00:16:34peace be upon him
00:16:34is the founder
00:16:35of this religion
00:16:36in fact
00:16:38Islam
00:16:39is there
00:16:40since time immemorial
00:16:41since man
00:16:42set foot on this earth
00:16:44and Prophet Muhammad
00:16:45peace be upon him
00:16:46is not the founder
00:16:47of this religion
00:16:48but he is the last
00:16:49and final messenger
00:16:50of Almighty God
00:16:51the religion of Islam
00:16:55is based
00:16:56on the teachings
00:16:57of the glorious Quran
00:16:58which came into existence
00:17:001400 years back
00:17:01is it possible
00:17:05that today
00:17:06the humanity at large
00:17:08in this 21st century
00:17:10can gain guidance
00:17:12how a life should be led
00:17:13from a book
00:17:14which is 1400 years old
00:17:15but natural
00:17:17the answer
00:17:18obviously is no
00:17:19if this book
00:17:20is written by human being
00:17:21but the glorious Quran
00:17:23is the last
00:17:24and final revelation
00:17:25of Almighty God
00:17:27which was revealed
00:17:28to the last
00:17:28and final messenger
00:17:30Prophet Muhammad
00:17:31peace be upon him
00:17:31the glorious Quran
00:17:33is
00:17:34the proclamation
00:17:35to humanity
00:17:36it is
00:17:37the fountain
00:17:38of mercy
00:17:39and wisdom
00:17:39it's a guide
00:17:41to the erring
00:17:41it's a warning
00:17:42to the heedless
00:17:43it's an assurance
00:17:44to those in doubt
00:17:45it's a solace
00:17:46to the suffering
00:17:46and it is
00:17:48an hope
00:17:48to those in despair
00:17:49the glorious Quran
00:17:51is the last
00:17:52and final revelation
00:17:53of Almighty God
00:17:54which was revealed
00:17:55to the last
00:17:56and final messenger
00:17:57Prophet Muhammad
00:17:58peace be upon him
00:17:59for any book
00:18:00to claim
00:18:00that it is
00:18:01a word of God
00:18:02for any book
00:18:03to prove
00:18:04that it is
00:18:04the revelation
00:18:05from Almighty God
00:18:06it should stand
00:18:07the test of time
00:18:08previously
00:18:10in the olden days
00:18:11it was the age
00:18:12of miracles
00:18:13the glorious Quran
00:18:15is the miracle
00:18:16of miracles
00:18:17later on
00:18:18came the age
00:18:19of literature
00:18:20and poetry
00:18:20Muslim
00:18:22and non-Muslim
00:18:23Arabic scholars
00:18:24alike
00:18:24they acclaim
00:18:25the glorious Quran
00:18:26to be the best
00:18:27Arabic literature
00:18:28available on the face
00:18:29of the earth
00:18:29but today
00:18:31if a religious book
00:18:33in a very poetic fashion
00:18:34says
00:18:34the world is flat
00:18:36will a modern man
00:18:38believe in it
00:18:38but naturally
00:18:39the answer is no
00:18:40because today
00:18:41is not
00:18:42the age
00:18:43of literature
00:18:43and poetry
00:18:44today
00:18:45is the age
00:18:46of science
00:18:47and technology
00:18:48so let us analyze
00:18:49whether the glorious Quran
00:18:51is compatible
00:18:52or incompatible
00:18:53with modern science
00:18:54according to Albert Einstein
00:18:57the famous physicist
00:18:58and the Nobel Prize winner
00:19:00who I am told
00:19:01also addressed
00:19:02this historic Oxford Union
00:19:03he said
00:19:05science without religion
00:19:07is lame
00:19:08and religion without science
00:19:11is blind
00:19:11let me remind you
00:19:14the glorious Quran
00:19:15is not a book of science
00:19:17S-C-I-E-N-C-E
00:19:20but it's a book of science
00:19:21S-I-G-N-S
00:19:24it's a book of ayats
00:19:25it's a book of verses
00:19:26and the glorious Quran
00:19:27has more than
00:19:286,000 signs
00:19:296,000 ayats
00:19:316,000 verses
00:19:32out of which
00:19:33more than a thousand
00:19:33speak about science
00:19:34as far as my talk
00:19:37today is concerned
00:19:38I will only be speaking
00:19:40about scientific facts
00:19:41I will not be speaking
00:19:43about scientific
00:19:43hypotheses and theories
00:19:45which all of us
00:19:46know many a time
00:19:46these theories
00:19:48and hypotheses
00:19:48take you turns
00:19:49in the field of astronomy
00:19:52a few decades earlier
00:19:55in the 1970s
00:19:56there were
00:19:57a group of scientists
00:19:58who described
00:19:59how the universe
00:20:01came into existence
00:20:02for which they got
00:20:03the Nobel Prize
00:20:03this they called
00:20:05as the Big Bang
00:20:06and these scientists
00:20:07said that initially
00:20:08our universe
00:20:10was one primary nebula
00:20:11then there was
00:20:13a secondary separation
00:20:14there was a Big Bang
00:20:15which gave rise to galaxies
00:20:16the stars
00:20:18the planets
00:20:19the sun
00:20:20as well as
00:20:21the earth on which we live
00:20:22this they called
00:20:23as the Big Bang
00:20:23this what the scientists
00:20:25discovered about
00:20:2640 years back
00:20:27is mentioned in the Quran
00:20:291400 years ago
00:20:30in Suri Ambiya
00:20:31chapter number 21
00:20:32verse number 30
00:20:33where it says
00:20:33do not the unbelievers see
00:20:36that the heavens
00:20:40and the earth
00:20:41were joined together
00:20:42and we clothed them asunder
00:20:44this Big Bang
00:20:46which the scientists
00:20:47discovered recently
00:20:48is mentioned in the Quran
00:20:491400 years ago
00:20:50previously we human beings
00:20:53we thought
00:20:53that the world was flat
00:20:54it was in 1577
00:20:57when Sir Francis Drake
00:20:59sailed around the earth
00:21:01that he first time
00:21:02proved that
00:21:03the earth on which we live
00:21:05it is spherical in shape
00:21:06the Quran mentions
00:21:081400 years ago
00:21:09in Surah Naziyat
00:21:10chapter number 79
00:21:11verse number 30
00:21:12and thereafter
00:21:15we have made
00:21:16the earth egg shape
00:21:17one of the meaning of
00:21:19Daha is an expanse
00:21:20and the earth is an expanse
00:21:21the other meaning
00:21:22is derived from
00:21:23the Arabic word
00:21:23Dhuya which means
00:21:24an egg
00:21:25and today we know
00:21:26the earth is not
00:21:28completely round like a ball
00:21:29it is starting from the pole
00:21:30it is geospherical in shape
00:21:32and if we analyze
00:21:33the Arabic word Daha
00:21:34doesn't refer to a normal egg
00:21:36it specifically refers
00:21:37to the egg of an ostrich
00:21:39and if we analyze
00:21:40the egg of an ostrich
00:21:41is too
00:21:42geospherical in shape
00:21:44imagine the glorious Quran
00:21:451400 years ago says
00:21:47that the earth
00:21:48is geospherical in shape
00:21:49previously we thought
00:21:51that the light of the moon
00:21:52was its own light
00:21:53recently we have come to know
00:21:55that the light of the moon
00:21:56is not its own light
00:21:57but it is a reflected
00:21:59and borrowed light
00:21:59the Quran says in Surah Furkan
00:22:01chapter number 25
00:22:02verse number 61
00:22:04blessed is he
00:22:05who has placed the constellation
00:22:06in the sky
00:22:07and placed therein
00:22:08sun
00:22:09a lamp
00:22:10having its own light
00:22:11and moon
00:22:12having borrowed
00:22:13or reflected light
00:22:14so the Quran describes
00:22:15the moon light
00:22:16as borrowed
00:22:17or reflected
00:22:17which we came to know
00:22:18recently in science
00:22:19recently in science
00:22:20means 50 years back
00:22:21100 years back
00:22:22200 years back
00:22:23when I was in school
00:22:25I passed my school
00:22:27in 1982
00:22:28or 29 years back
00:22:29there I had learned
00:22:31in science
00:22:32that the sun
00:22:33though it revolves
00:22:34it does not rotate
00:22:35about its own axis
00:22:36but the Quran mentions
00:22:38in Surah Ambiya
00:22:39chapter number 21
00:22:41verse number 33
00:22:42it is he who has created
00:22:46the night and the day
00:22:47the sun and the moon
00:22:50each one traveling in orbit
00:22:53with its own motion
00:22:54the Quran says
00:22:55the sun and the moon
00:22:56besides revolving
00:22:57it also rotates
00:22:58about its own axis
00:22:59and today
00:23:00recently
00:23:01a few decades earlier
00:23:02science has come to know
00:23:04that the sun rotates
00:23:05and takes about 25 days
00:23:06to complete one rotation
00:23:07which has been incorporated
00:23:09in most of the school textbooks
00:23:10throughout the world
00:23:11there may be certain skeptics
00:23:15who will say
00:23:15it's nothing great
00:23:17that the Quran
00:23:18speaks about astronomy
00:23:19since the Arabs
00:23:21were advanced
00:23:22in the field of astronomy
00:23:22I do agree
00:23:24that the Arabs
00:23:25were advanced
00:23:26in the field of astronomy
00:23:27but I'd like to remind them
00:23:28that the Arabs
00:23:30became advanced
00:23:31in the field of astronomy
00:23:32a few hundred years
00:23:34after the Quran
00:23:35was revealed
00:23:36so it is from the Quran
00:23:37that the Arabs learned
00:23:38about astronomy
00:23:39and not the vice versa
00:23:40in the field of hydrology
00:23:44we learn in the school
00:23:46about the water cycle
00:23:47how the water
00:23:50evaporates from the ocean
00:23:51forms into clouds
00:23:52moons into interior
00:23:53falls down as rain
00:23:54and the water is replenished
00:23:56this was first described
00:23:57by Sir Bernard Palissy
00:23:59in the year 1580
00:24:01the Quran too
00:24:03describes the water cycle
00:24:05in great detail
00:24:061400 years ago
00:24:07the Quran says
00:24:08the water evaporates
00:24:09from the ocean
00:24:09forms into clouds
00:24:10the clouds join
00:24:11they move into the interior
00:24:13they fall down as rain
00:24:14and the water table
00:24:15is replenished
00:24:16and the water cycle
00:24:17is completed
00:24:17the Quran
00:24:18speaks about the water cycle
00:24:20in great detail
00:24:21in several places
00:24:22in Surah Az-Zumur
00:24:24chapter number 39
00:24:25verse number 21
00:24:25in Surah Room
00:24:26chapter number 30
00:24:27verse number 24
00:24:28in Surah Mu'minun
00:24:29chapter number 23
00:24:30verse number 18
00:24:31in Surah Hijar
00:24:31chapter number 15
00:24:32verse number 22
00:24:33in Surah Noor
00:24:34chapter number 24
00:24:35verse number 43
00:24:36in Surah Araf
00:24:37chapter number 7
00:24:38verse number 57
00:24:39in Surah Rad
00:24:40chapter number 13
00:24:41verse number 17
00:24:41in Surah Furkan
00:24:42chapter number 25
00:24:43verse number 48 and 49
00:24:44in Surah Fatir
00:24:46chapter 35
00:24:46verse number 9
00:24:47in Surah Yasin
00:24:48chapter number 36
00:24:49verse number 34
00:24:50in Surah Jashya
00:24:51chapter number 45
00:24:52verse number 5
00:24:53in Surah Qaf
00:24:53chapter number 50
00:24:54verse number 8 and 9
00:24:55in Surah Vaqya
00:24:56chapter number 56
00:24:57verse number 68 to 17
00:24:58In Surah Mulk, chapter 6, 7, verse number 30.
00:25:01In Surah Tariq, chapter number 6, verse number 11.
00:25:03I can go on and on giving references only in the Quran of the several verses which speak about the water cycle in great detail.
00:25:12In the field of oceanography, there's a verse in the Quran.
00:25:17In Surah Furkan, chapter number 25, verse number 53, which says that
00:25:21Previously, we human beings knew that there are two types of water, sweet and salty.
00:25:38But the commentator of the Quran could not understand what does God Almighty mean by saying
00:25:43that these two waters, when they meet, they are not mixed and there is a barrier which is forbidden to be trespassed.
00:25:49Today, after science's advance, we have come to know that whenever one type of water flows into the other type of water,
00:25:55it loses its constituents and gets homogenized into the water it flows.
00:25:59This today's science calls as the transitional homogenizing area, which the Quran refers to as Barzakh, as a barrier.
00:26:07And this can be seen in Cape Point, the southernmost tip of South Africa.
00:26:13And when we see even the color of the water between these two types of water differs.
00:26:17And Professor Hay, a very famous oceanologist, he said that this information came to the human knowledge recently.
00:26:25This book, the Quran, is difficult to explain how does it mention 14 years ago.
00:26:32In the field of biology, the Quran says, in Surah Ambiya, chapter number 21, verse number 30,
00:26:38that we have created every living thing from water.
00:26:42Will you not believe?
00:26:43Imagine in the deserts of Arabia, the Quran says,
00:26:47every living thing is made from water.
00:26:48Who could have believed in it?
00:26:50Today, after science's advance, we have come to know
00:26:53that every living being, it contains cells.
00:26:57And the basic substance of cell is the cytoplasm, which contains about 80% water.
00:27:01Today, science tells us that every living creature contains 50 to 90% water.
00:27:09In the field of botany,
00:27:11previously, we did not know that even the plants have got sexes male and female.
00:27:16The Quran says in Surah Atah, chapter number 20, verse number 53,
00:27:20that it is he who sends on water from the sky,
00:27:23and with it brings diverse pairs of plants, each separate from the other.
00:27:26The Arabic word Azwaj, meaning pair, saying that the plants have got sexes male and female.
00:27:35In the field of zoology, the Quran says in Surah Anam, chapter number 6, verse number 38,
00:27:43it is he who has made every animal that walks on the earth,
00:27:47and every bird that flies in the air, to live in communities like the human beings.
00:27:51Today, science agrees that even the animals and the birds live in communities like the human beings,
00:27:58which was not known earlier.
00:28:00The Quran speaks about the lifestyle of the bee.
00:28:03In Surah Nahal, chapter number 16, verse number 68 and 69,
00:28:07the Quran speaks about the lifestyle of the spider.
00:28:11In Surah Anqabud, chapter number 29, verse number 41,
00:28:14the Quran speaks about the lifestyle and the communication of ants.
00:28:18In Surah Anamal, chapter number 27, verse number 17 and 18.
00:28:22In the field of medicine, the Quran says, in Surah Nahal, chapter number 16, verse 68 and 69,
00:28:28that from the belly of the bee, we give you a drink of varying colors,
00:28:33in which there is healing for mankind.
00:28:35It is recently we have come to know that the honey that we have is obtained from the belly of the bee.
00:28:41And today, science agrees that there are mild antiseptic properties in honey
00:28:45and it is even a healing for mankind.
00:28:49In the field of physiology, the Quran describes the blood circulation
00:28:53and the production of milk in a nutshell in Surah Anahal, chapter 16, verse number 66.
00:29:00600 years after the Quran was revealed,
00:29:03Ibn Nafis, he made it known to the world about the production of milk and blood circulation.
00:29:09400 years later, that is, 1000 years after the Quran was revealed,
00:29:13William Harvey, he made it famous to the Western world.
00:29:17We hear about William Harvey, but we hardly hear about the name of Nafis,
00:29:21who 400 years before William Harvey spoke about the blood circulation and the production of milk.
00:29:26In the field of embryology, the Quran describes the various embryological stages
00:29:34of the human development in great detail in Surah Muminun, chapter number 23, verse number 12 to 14.
00:29:40It says that the human, we were nutfa,
00:29:42then we made it into an alaka, ammudga, ezama,
00:29:45that human being is created from a minute quantity of fluid,
00:29:48then it made it into alaka, that is, a leech-like substance,
00:29:51then made it into a chewed-like lump,
00:29:54then made it into bones, then clothed the bones with flesh.
00:29:57When this verse was showed in the early part of the 1980s to Dr. Keith Moore,
00:30:01who at that time happened to be the highest authority in the field of anatomy and embryology,
00:30:06he was the head of the department in the University of Toronto,
00:30:10he said that the description of the Quran is far superior
00:30:13to what modern embryology describes today instead of stage 1, 2, 3,
00:30:18and he said that it's not possible that any human being can mention these things in the Quran.
00:30:23This Quran has to be the word from Almighty God
00:30:27and he has no objection in accepting Prophet Muhammad as the messenger of Almighty God.
00:30:32Time does not permit me to speak a lot about science.
00:30:35I'll just give one more example which is mentioned in the Quran.
00:30:39The Quran mentions in Surah Qayyamah, chapter number 75, verse number 3 and 4,
00:30:43that when the unbelievers say that how will Almighty God be able to reconstruct our bones?
00:30:51After we are dead, we are buried, our bones have got disintegrated.
00:30:55On the day of judgment, how will Almighty God be able to reconstruct our bones?
00:31:00Almighty God replies in the Quran and says,
00:31:02tell them Almighty God can not only reconstruct the bones,
00:31:06He can even reconstruct in perfect order the very tips of the fingers.
00:31:11What does Quran mean by saying God can not only reconstruct the bones,
00:31:16He can even reconstruct in perfect order the very tips of the fingers.
00:31:20It was in 1880 that Sir Francis Gould discovered the fingerprinting method
00:31:24and he said that no two fingerprints even in millions of people are identical.
00:31:29And today, this fingerprinting method is used by the police to identify the criminal,
00:31:34it's used by CIA, by FBI, by the police worldwide.
00:31:38This Quran mentions 1400 years ago.
00:31:41Francis Bacon, a very famous philosopher, he said,
00:31:48little knowledge of science makes a person an atheist,
00:31:52but in-depth knowledge of science makes a person a believer in God.
00:31:56That is the reason today, scientists are not eliminating God,
00:32:01they are eliminating models of God.
00:32:03La ilaha illallah.
00:32:04There is no God, but Allah.
00:32:07I started my talk by quoting a verse from the Surah Al-Quran,
00:32:11from Surah Al-Hujurat, chapter number 49,
00:32:14verse number 13 which says,
00:32:15Ya ayyuhan nasu inna khalaqnaakum min zaqin wa unsa wa ja'alnaakum,
00:32:20shu'uban wa qaba'ila li ta'arafu,
00:32:22innna kramu windu Allah yatkaakum, innna Allah alimun khabeer,
00:32:24which means,
00:32:25O humankind,
00:32:26we have created you from a single pair of male and female,
00:32:30and have divided you into nations and tribes,
00:32:33so that you shall recognize each other,
00:32:35not that you shall despise each other.
00:32:37And the most honored,
00:32:38in the sight of Almighty God,
00:32:40is the person who has taqwa.
00:32:42The criteria for judgment,
00:32:43in the sight of Almighty God,
00:32:45it's not sex,
00:32:46it's not color,
00:32:47it's not wealth,
00:32:48it's not age,
00:32:49but it is taqwa,
00:32:49it is God consciousness,
00:32:51it's piety,
00:32:52it is righteousness.
00:32:52The only way one human being,
00:32:55can be superior to the other human being,
00:32:57is by righteousness,
00:32:58and by piety,
00:32:59and no other criteria.
00:33:03Quran says,
00:33:04in Surah Room,
00:33:05chapter number 30,
00:33:06verse number 22,
00:33:07Amongst his signs,
00:33:09he has created the heavens and the earth,
00:33:11and the variation in your languages and color.
00:33:14These are signs for the people who understand.
00:33:17The Quran says,
00:33:18he has created the different variation in the color,
00:33:20and the languages,
00:33:21so that those who are knowledgeable people,
00:33:23they will know it's a sign from Almighty God.
00:33:25This speaks about the universal brotherhood,
00:33:27that Almighty God has created all the human beings,
00:33:30from a common pair of human beings,
00:33:32Adam and Eve,
00:33:33may peace be upon them.
00:33:35And Almighty God says,
00:33:37in Surah Surah,
00:33:38chapter number 17,
00:33:39verse number 17,
00:33:40And we have honored the children of Adam.
00:33:45Almighty God says in the Quran,
00:33:46that all the children of Adam,
00:33:48irrespective whether they're black or white,
00:33:50male or female,
00:33:51whether they're born in UK or India or USA,
00:33:54whichever part of the world they belong to.
00:33:55Almighty God has honored all the children of Adam,
00:33:58all the human beings.
00:34:01And Islam does not only speak about universal brotherhood,
00:34:05it practically demonstrates,
00:34:07that every Muslim,
00:34:08who follow the religion of Islam,
00:34:10should practically practice it minimum,
00:34:13five times in the day.
00:34:14I'm talking about one of the pillars of Islam,
00:34:17that is Salah,
00:34:18which is the prayer.
00:34:19And a beloved Prophet,
00:34:21Muhammad peace be upon him said,
00:34:22that when you stand for prayer,
00:34:23you should stand shoulder to shoulder.
00:34:25Irrespective whether the person standing next to you,
00:34:27is black or white,
00:34:29rich or poor,
00:34:30king or popper.
00:34:31When you stand for prayer,
00:34:32you have to stand shoulder to shoulder.
00:34:33This demonstrates,
00:34:35the universal brotherhood every day,
00:34:37minimum five times a day.
00:34:38And another example is Hajj,
00:34:42which is one of the pillars of Islam,
00:34:44that every rich person who has the means,
00:34:47and who has the health,
00:34:48to travel to Makkah,
00:34:50for the pilgrimage,
00:34:51should at least do it,
00:34:52once in his lifetime.
00:34:54And Hajj is the biggest annual gathering in the world,
00:34:57where about three to four million people,
00:34:59from different parts of the world,
00:35:01from USA,
00:35:01from Canada,
00:35:02from UK,
00:35:03from India,
00:35:03from Malaysia,
00:35:04from different parts of the world,
00:35:06they gather together in one place,
00:35:07in Makkah and Arafat,
00:35:08and they are dressed in two pieces of unsewn cloth,
00:35:12which is white in color.
00:35:14You cannot identify the person standing next to you,
00:35:16as king or a popper.
00:35:18And all of them come on a common statement,
00:35:21Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik,
00:35:22Here we are,
00:35:23O my Lord,
00:35:23here we are at your service.
00:35:26Islam practically demonstrates universal brotherhood.
00:35:31Many religions believe,
00:35:33that humankind,
00:35:34has been created from a single pair of Adam and Eve.
00:35:37May peace be upon them both.
00:35:38But there are some religions,
00:35:40who put the blame,
00:35:42only on Eve,
00:35:44for the downfall of humanity,
00:35:45for the original sin.
00:35:47But if you read the Quran,
00:35:49the blame,
00:35:50for disobeying almighty God,
00:35:51is equally put on both,
00:35:52Adam and Eve.
00:35:53May peace be upon them.
00:35:54The Quran says,
00:35:56in Surah Araf chapter 7,
00:35:58verse number 19 to 27,
00:35:59Adam and Eve,
00:36:00peace be upon them,
00:36:01they are both addressed,
00:36:03more than a dozen times.
00:36:05Both of them,
00:36:06they disobeyed God,
00:36:07both of them repented,
00:36:08and both were forgiven.
00:36:10The blame is equally put on both of them.
00:36:12There is not a single verse in the Quran,
00:36:15which puts the blame,
00:36:16only on Eve.
00:36:18However,
00:36:18there is one verse in the Quran,
00:36:19in Surah Taha,
00:36:20chapter 20,
00:36:21verse 121,
00:36:22which says,
00:36:22and singles out Adam,
00:36:23peace be upon him,
00:36:24and says,
00:36:24he disobeyed God.
00:36:27But on the whole,
00:36:28if you read the Quran,
00:36:29the blame is equally put on both of them.
00:36:31There are some religions,
00:36:33who because,
00:36:34they say,
00:36:35that woman,
00:36:36is the cause of the downfall of humanity,
00:36:37which Islam doesn't agree.
00:36:39Some religions say,
00:36:40because of that,
00:36:41God punished her.
00:36:42And pregnancy is a curse,
00:36:44and punishment of God,
00:36:45on the woman.
00:36:47But in Islam,
00:36:48pregnancy uplift the woman.
00:36:50The Quran says in Surah Nisa,
00:36:51chapter 4,
00:36:52verse number 1,
00:36:53respect the womb that bore you.
00:36:55The Quran says in Surah Luqman,
00:36:57chapter number 31,
00:36:58verse number 14,
00:36:59we have enjoined on the human beings,
00:37:02to be kind to the parents.
00:37:03In travail upon travail,
00:37:04did the mother bore them,
00:37:05and in years twain,
00:37:06was the weaning.
00:37:08The Quran repeats the message in Surah Aqaf,
00:37:10chapter number 46,
00:37:11verse number 15,
00:37:12we have enjoined on the human beings,
00:37:13to be good to the parents.
00:37:15In pain,
00:37:16did the mother bore them,
00:37:16and in pain,
00:37:17did she give them birth.
00:37:18So pregnancy,
00:37:19uplift the woman,
00:37:20does not degrade her.
00:37:22And a beloved prophet said,
00:37:24it's mentioned in Sayyid Bukhari.
00:37:26Sayyid Bukhari is one of the collections
00:37:27of the authentic sayings
00:37:29of the last and final messenger prophet,
00:37:31Muhammad,
00:37:31peace be upon him.
00:37:32It's mentioned in Sayyid Bukhari,
00:37:33volume number 8,
00:37:34in the book of Manners,
00:37:35chapter number 2,
00:37:36hadith number 2,
00:37:37a man approaches the prophet
00:37:38and asks him,
00:37:40that who deserves the maximum
00:37:41companionship and love in this world?
00:37:44Prophet said,
00:37:45your mother.
00:37:45The man asked after that who?
00:37:47The prophet repeated,
00:37:48your mother.
00:37:50The man asked after that who?
00:37:52Again the prophet said,
00:37:53your mother.
00:37:53The man asked for the fourth time
00:37:55after that who?
00:37:56Then the prophet said,
00:37:57your father.
00:37:58That means,
00:37:5975%,
00:38:00three-fourths of the companionship
00:38:03goes to the mother,
00:38:0525%,
00:38:06one-fourth goes to the father.
00:38:09In short,
00:38:10the mother gets the gold medal,
00:38:11she gets the silver medal,
00:38:12as well as the bronze medal.
00:38:14The father has to be satisfied
00:38:15with a mere consolation prize.
00:38:18These are the teachings of Islam
00:38:19which we have to agree.
00:38:21And if we analyze,
00:38:23Islam
00:38:24gave economic rights to women
00:38:261,300 years before the Western world.
00:38:311,400 years ago,
00:38:32Islam gave right
00:38:34to any adult Muslim woman
00:38:35to own or disown the property
00:38:37without the permission of anyone else.
00:38:39The first time the Western world
00:38:41gave right for a woman
00:38:42to own or disown property,
00:38:44was in 1870s
00:38:46under the Married Woman Property Act
00:38:47which said
00:38:48that a married woman,
00:38:50adult,
00:38:50can own or disown the property
00:38:52without the permission of the husband.
00:38:54And this act was later revised.
00:38:56Islam
00:38:57gave economic rights to women
00:38:591,300 years before the Western world.
00:39:02And in Islam,
00:39:03we did not agree
00:39:04with the word housewife
00:39:06which is used in English language
00:39:08because we don't consider
00:39:09the woman
00:39:10to be married to the house
00:39:11to be called a housewife.
00:39:12We prefer calling her
00:39:14as homemaker,
00:39:15the person who makes the home,
00:39:16the person who builds the home.
00:39:19Though we see
00:39:20that there are many misconceptions
00:39:21and many people think
00:39:24that men and women
00:39:25in Islam are not equal.
00:39:26In fact,
00:39:28in Islam,
00:39:29men and women are equal.
00:39:31But equality
00:39:31does not mean identicality.
00:39:33They are equal
00:39:34but they are not identical.
00:39:36Depending upon
00:39:36their physiological makeup,
00:39:38their psychological makeup,
00:39:39their biological makeup,
00:39:41they have different roles.
00:39:42Overall,
00:39:43men and women are equal
00:39:44in some aspects.
00:39:46The woman,
00:39:47she may have a degree of advantage.
00:39:48In some aspects,
00:39:49the men may have a degree of advantage.
00:39:51Let me give you an example.
00:39:53If there are two students
00:39:54in a class,
00:39:55student A and B,
00:39:56both of them,
00:39:58they come out first
00:39:58in examination.
00:40:00Both get 80 out of 100.
00:40:02When we analyze the answer sheet,
00:40:04the 10 questions
00:40:05which have 10 answers,
00:40:07each carrying 10 marks.
00:40:09In answer to question number 1,
00:40:12student A gets 9 out of 10.
00:40:14Student B gets 10 out of 10.
00:40:17In answer to question number 2,
00:40:19student B gets 9 out of 10.
00:40:20And student A,
00:40:21he gets 10 out of 10.
00:40:23In all the remaining 8 answers,
00:40:26both get 8 out of 10.
00:40:27If we add up,
00:40:28both get 80 out of 100.
00:40:29they are equal.
00:40:30But in answer number 1,
00:40:32the student A has a degree of advantage.
00:40:34In answer number 2,
00:40:35student B has a degree of advantage.
00:40:37In the other aspects,
00:40:38both are equal.
00:40:39And overall also they are equal.
00:40:40In the same way,
00:40:42men and women in Islam are equal,
00:40:44in some aspects,
00:40:45the men have a degree of advantage.
00:40:47In some aspects,
00:40:48the women have a degree of advantage.
00:40:49For example,
00:40:50if a robber,
00:40:52if a thief
00:40:53enters my house,
00:40:54I will not say
00:40:55I believe in woman liberalization.
00:40:57I will not ask my wife
00:40:58or my daughter to go and fight.
00:41:00Since God has given me more strength,
00:41:02it is my duty to fight.
00:41:03As the Quran says
00:41:04in Surah Nisa 4,
00:41:05verse 34,
00:41:06that God has given more strength to men.
00:41:08It is his duty to protect the woman.
00:41:10So in strength,
00:41:11the men have a degree of advantage.
00:41:14And the other example I gave earlier,
00:41:15that where companionship
00:41:17of the children is concerned
00:41:18for the parents,
00:41:19the women
00:41:20have three times
00:41:22more companionship
00:41:23as compared to men.
00:41:25The mother
00:41:25has three times more companionship
00:41:27as compared to father.
00:41:28So here,
00:41:29the women have a degree of advantage.
00:41:30So as I said earlier,
00:41:32men and women in Islam
00:41:33are equal.
00:41:34In some aspects,
00:41:36the women have a degree of advantage.
00:41:37In some aspect,
00:41:38the men have a degree of advantage.
00:41:39The foundation of the religion of Islam
00:41:46is the belief
00:41:48in one and only
00:41:51sole creator and sustainer.
00:41:54And this creator and sustainer,
00:41:56almighty God,
00:41:57is the same for all the human beings.
00:41:59Only if you agree
00:42:00that our creator,
00:42:01sustainer,
00:42:02and cherisher,
00:42:02one God,
00:42:04is the same,
00:42:05then only can brotherhood
00:42:06be maintained in all religions.
00:42:08And this is the basis
00:42:10of all the religions.
00:42:12Religion,
00:42:13according to Oxford Dictionary,
00:42:14means
00:42:15a belief
00:42:16in a superhuman controlling power,
00:42:18a personal God
00:42:19or gods
00:42:20that deserve
00:42:21worship and obedience.
00:42:23So according to Oxford Dictionary,
00:42:24religion means
00:42:25belief in God.
00:42:26If you understand God,
00:42:27you understand that religion
00:42:29in the right perspective.
00:42:31Quran says in
00:42:32Suley al-Imran
00:42:32chapter 3,
00:42:33verse number 64,
00:42:34come to common terms
00:42:38as between us and you.
00:42:40Which is the first term?
00:42:42Allah naabada illallah.
00:42:43That you worship
00:42:44none
00:42:44but one almighty God.
00:42:46So the Quran says,
00:42:47let the people
00:42:48of different religions
00:42:49come to common terms.
00:42:51What is different,
00:42:52we can discuss tomorrow.
00:42:54Let us agree
00:42:54to follow what is common.
00:42:56And one thing common
00:42:57in all the religion is
00:42:58to believe
00:42:59and worship
00:42:59only one God.
00:43:01To understand
00:43:03any religion
00:43:03or to understand
00:43:05the concept of God
00:43:06in a religion,
00:43:07it is not appropriate
00:43:07to try and observe
00:43:09the followers
00:43:10of that religion.
00:43:12Because many a time
00:43:13the followers
00:43:13themselves may not be aware
00:43:15about the religion
00:43:16or the concept
00:43:17of their God and religion.
00:43:18The best
00:43:19and the most authentic way
00:43:21of understanding
00:43:22a religion
00:43:23or understanding
00:43:24the concept of God
00:43:25in a religion
00:43:26is to try and understand
00:43:28what the authentic scriptures
00:43:30of that religion
00:43:31have to speak about God.
00:43:34Let us try and understand
00:43:36the concept of God
00:43:38in the major religions
00:43:39in a nutshell.
00:43:40First, we will try to understand
00:43:41the concept of God
00:43:42in Hinduism.
00:43:44The two major
00:43:45and most authentic scriptures
00:43:47in the religion of Hinduism
00:43:48are the Vedas
00:43:50and the Upanishad.
00:43:51It is mentioned
00:43:52in the Chandogya Upanishad
00:43:53chapter number 6
00:43:54section number 2
00:43:55verse number 1
00:43:56God is only one
00:43:58without a second.
00:44:00This is the Sanskrit quotation.
00:44:02It is mentioned
00:44:02in the Svita Sitaru Upanishad
00:44:03chapter number 6
00:44:04verse number 9
00:44:05of that God
00:44:09He has got no parents
00:44:10He has got no Lord
00:44:11He has got no father
00:44:13He has got no mother
00:44:13He has got no superior.
00:44:15It is mentioned
00:44:16in the Svita Sitaru Upanishad
00:44:17chapter number 4
00:44:18verse number 19
00:44:19as well as Yajurved
00:44:20chapter number 32
00:44:21verse number 3
00:44:22of that God
00:44:25there is no Pratima.
00:44:26Pratima is a Sanskrit word
00:44:28which means
00:44:28an image,
00:44:30a photograph,
00:44:31a painting,
00:44:31a picture,
00:44:32a sculpture,
00:44:33a statue,
00:44:34an idol.
00:44:35It says
00:44:36of that God
00:44:37there is no image,
00:44:38there is no picture,
00:44:39there is no painting,
00:44:40there is no portrait,
00:44:41there is no statue,
00:44:42there is no idol,
00:44:43there is no sculpture.
00:44:44And the Brahma Sutra
00:44:46of Hinduism,
00:44:47the fundamental creed
00:44:48of Hinduism is
00:44:49Ekka Braham
00:44:50Deotya Naste
00:44:51Nena Naste Kinchan
00:44:53Bhagawan ekhi hai,
00:44:54dousra nahi hai,
00:44:55nahi hai, nahi hai,
00:44:55zara bhi nahi hai.
00:44:56There is only one God,
00:44:57not a second one.
00:44:59Not at all,
00:44:59not at all,
00:45:00not in the least bit.
00:45:02So if you read
00:45:03the Hindu scriptures,
00:45:04you shall understand
00:45:04the concept of God
00:45:06in Hinduism
00:45:06and understand
00:45:07Hinduism in the right
00:45:08perspective.
00:45:10Let's discuss
00:45:11the concept
00:45:12of God
00:45:13in Hinduism.
00:45:15It's mentioned
00:45:15in the Old Testament
00:45:16in the book of Deuteronomy,
00:45:17chapter number 6,
00:45:18verse number 4.
00:45:19Moses,
00:45:20peace be upon him,
00:45:20says,
00:45:21Shema Israel,
00:45:22adnahain radna ikat.
00:45:23Yoro Israel,
00:45:24the Lord,
00:45:25our God,
00:45:26is one Lord.
00:45:27It's mentioned
00:45:28in the book of Isaiah,
00:45:29chapter number 43,
00:45:30verse number 11.
00:45:31I,
00:45:31I am Lord
00:45:34and there is no
00:45:35saviour besides me.
00:45:36It's mentioned
00:45:36in the book of Isaiah,
00:45:38chapter number 45,
00:45:39verse number 5.
00:45:40I am Lord
00:45:41and there is none else,
00:45:42there is no God
00:45:43besides me.
00:45:44It's mentioned
00:45:44in the book of Isaiah,
00:45:45chapter number 46,
00:45:46verse number 9.
00:45:47I am God
00:45:48and there is none else.
00:45:49I am God
00:45:50and there is none like me.
00:45:52It's further mentioned
00:45:53in the book of Exodus,
00:45:53chapter number 20,
00:45:55verse number 3 to 5,
00:45:56as well as
00:45:57in the book of Deuteronomy,
00:45:58chapter number 5,
00:45:59verse number 79.
00:46:02Almighty God says,
00:46:02So if you read the Old Testament, you should understand the concept of God in Judaism
00:46:23and understand Judaism in the right perspective.
00:46:27Before we discuss the concept of God in Christianity, I would like to clarify a few points.
00:46:32Islam is the only non-Christian faith which makes it an article of faith to believe in Jesus Christ, peace be upon him.
00:46:39No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus Christ, peace be upon him.
00:46:44We believe that he was one of the mightiest messengers of Almighty God.
00:46:48We believe he was the Messiah that ascended Christ.
00:46:51We believe that he was born miraculously without any male intervention, which many modern day Christians today did not believe.
00:46:57We believe that he gave life to the dead with God's permission.
00:47:00We believe he healed those born blind and lepers with God's permission.
00:47:05The Christians and the Muslims, we are going together.
00:47:08One may ask, then where is the parting of ways?
00:47:11The parting of ways is that many Christians believe, or most of the Christians believe,
00:47:16that Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, he claimed divinity.
00:47:19They believe that he was Almighty God.
00:47:21In fact, if you read the Bible, there is not a single unequivocal statement.
00:47:27There is not a single unambiguous statement.
00:47:30In the complete Bible, where Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, himself says that I am God, always his worship me.
00:47:36In fact, if you read the Bible, it's mentioned in the Gospel of John, chapter number 14, verse number 28.
00:47:42Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, said, my father is greater than I.
00:47:45Gospel of John, chapter number 10, verse number 29, my father is greater than all.
00:47:49Gospel of Matthew, chapter number 12, verse number 28.
00:47:52I cast out devils with the spirit of God.
00:47:54Gospel of Luke, chapter number 11, verse number 20.
00:47:57I, with the finger of God, cast out devils.
00:47:59Gospel of John, chapter number 5, verse number 30.
00:48:01Anyone who says, I seek not my will, but the will of Almighty God, he's a Muslim.
00:48:11As I mentioned, Muslim means a person who submits a will to God.
00:48:15And Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, said, not my will, but the will of Almighty God.
00:48:20So in Arabic, we say he's Muslim.
00:48:22Therefore, we say Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, was one of the mightiest messengers of Almighty God.
00:48:26And he further clarified, in the gospel of John, chapter number 14, verse number 24, he said,
00:48:32That the words that you hear are not mine, but my father's who has sent me.
00:48:37It's mentioned in the gospel of John, chapter number 17, verse number 3, Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, said,
00:48:41This is life eternal, so that you may know one true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
00:48:46It's clearly mentioned in the book of Acts, chapter number 2, verse number 22, it says,
00:48:50E men of Israel, listen to this,
00:48:53Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God amongst you,
00:48:57by wonders and miracles and signs, which God did by him and you have witnessed to it.
00:49:01A man approved of God amongst you,
00:49:03by wonders and miracles and signs, which God did by him and you have witnessed to it.
00:49:07And when Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, was asked,
00:49:09that which is the first of the commandments,
00:49:11he repeated verbatim what was said by Moses, peace be upon him, earlier.
00:49:14It's mentioned in the gospel of Mark, chapter number 12, verse number 29,
00:49:18Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, said,
00:49:19Which means, here O Israel, the Lord, our God, is one Lord.
00:49:25So if you read the Bible, you should understand the concept of God in Christianity
00:49:29and understand Christianity in the right perspective.
00:49:33Let's discuss the concept of God in Islam.
00:49:37The best reply that any Muslim can give you regarding the concept of God in Islam
00:49:41is quote to you, surah class, that is chapter number 112, verse number 1 to 4, which says,
00:49:46Say he is Allah one and only.
00:49:49Allah is Samad, Allah, the absolute and eternal.
00:49:52He begets not no, he is begotten.
00:49:56There is nothing like him.
00:49:57This is a four-line definition of Almighty God.
00:50:00Any person says so and so candidate is God,
00:50:02if he passes these four tests,
00:50:04we Muslims have got no objection in accepting as God.
00:50:07The first is, say he is one and only.
00:50:09The second is, he should be absolute and eternal.
00:50:12The third, he begets not no, he is begotten.
00:50:14And fourth, there is nothing like unto him anything in this world.
00:50:18This is a four-line definition of Almighty God,
00:50:20which we call as the litmus test for theology.
00:50:24It is the touchstone of theology.
00:50:25And further, the Quran says in Surah Anam, chapter number 6, verse number 108,
00:50:30that revile not, abuse not,
00:50:33those gods who they worship besides Allah,
00:50:36lest in their ignorance, they will revile,
00:50:38they will abuse Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
00:50:40Quran prohibits any Muslim
00:50:42from speaking bad, from reviling, from abusing
00:50:46those who other people worship as God besides Allah,
00:50:50lest in their ignorance, they will abuse Allah.
00:50:52So to understand the concept of God
00:50:55in Islam, you have to read the Quran.
00:50:59Today, unfortunately,
00:51:02Islam is the most misunderstood religion in the world.
00:51:06The religion which has the maximum misconception in the world today,
00:51:10it is Islam.
00:51:12And one of the reasons for these misconceptions
00:51:14about this religion,
00:51:16I would say, it is the media.
00:51:19Today, we find in the international media,
00:51:23there is virulent propaganda regarding Islam.
00:51:26We find in the international newspapers,
00:51:28in the international magazine,
00:51:29on the radio broadcast stations,
00:51:31on the international satellite channels,
00:51:32on the internet,
00:51:33there is virulent propaganda regarding Islam.
00:51:37And the most misunderstood word regarding Islam,
00:51:41it is the word jihad.
00:51:42It is not only misunderstood by the Muslims,
00:51:46because of the media,
00:51:47it is also misunderstood by the non-Muslims.
00:51:50Today, most of the people,
00:51:51whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims,
00:51:53they think that any war fought by any Muslim,
00:51:57for any reason,
00:51:58whether it be for personal gain,
00:51:59whether it be for name,
00:52:00whether it be for fame,
00:52:02whether it be for honour,
00:52:03whether it be for land,
00:52:04any war fought by any Muslim is called as jihad.
00:52:07Jihad does not mean any war fought by any Muslim,
00:52:11for any reason.
00:52:12Jihad comes from the Arabic word jihadah,
00:52:15which means to strive,
00:52:17which means to struggle.
00:52:18In the Islamic context,
00:52:20jihad means to strive and struggle
00:52:23against one's own evil inclination.
00:52:26Jihad also means to strive and struggle
00:52:29to make the society better.
00:52:31Jihad also means to strive and struggle against oppression.
00:52:34Jihad also means to strive and struggle in self-defense.
00:52:37So, jihad basically means to strive and struggle.
00:52:41For example,
00:52:41if a student is striving and struggling
00:52:43to pass in the examination,
00:52:45in Arabic, we will say he is doing jihad.
00:52:49So, jihad basically means to strive and struggle.
00:52:52Today, most of the Orientalists,
00:52:55they translate the word jihad as holy war.
00:52:59If you translate holy war into Arabic,
00:53:01it is harbu muqaddasa.
00:53:02And this word harbu muqaddasa appears nowhere in the Quran,
00:53:06nowhere in anything of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
00:53:10This word holy war,
00:53:11if you go back into history,
00:53:12was first used for the Crusades.
00:53:16In the Crusaders,
00:53:17they forced people to accept
00:53:18the religion of Christianity by force.
00:53:20And unfortunately today,
00:53:22it is used for the Muslims and Islam.
00:53:23Quran mentions explicitly,
00:53:29in Surah Maidah,
00:53:30chapter number 5,
00:53:31verse number 32,
00:53:33if anyone
00:53:33kills any other human being,
00:53:37unless it be for murder,
00:53:38or for spreading corruption in the land,
00:53:40it is as though
00:53:41he has killed the whole of humanity.
00:53:43The Quran says,
00:53:44if any human being
00:53:46kills any other innocent human being,
00:53:48whether Muslim or non-Muslim,
00:53:49it is as though
00:53:50he has killed the whole of humanity.
00:53:52And the verse continues,
00:53:53if anyone saves any human being,
00:53:55whether Muslim or non-Muslim,
00:53:56it is as though
00:53:57he has saved the whole of humanity.
00:54:00I, being a student of comparative religion,
00:54:03I have not come across
00:54:04any verse in any scripture
00:54:05besides the Quran,
00:54:06which is so explicit against terrorism,
00:54:09against killing innocent human beings.
00:54:10It says that
00:54:11if any human being
00:54:12kills any other human being
00:54:14who is innocent,
00:54:15whether Muslim or non-Muslim,
00:54:16it is as though
00:54:17he has killed the whole of humanity.
00:54:18And I have not come across
00:54:19any verse in any other scripture,
00:54:21any other religious scripture
00:54:22besides the Quran,
00:54:23which promotes
00:54:25the prevention of terrorism.
00:54:26And it says,
00:54:27if any human being
00:54:28saves any human life,
00:54:30whether Muslim or non-Muslim,
00:54:31it is as though
00:54:32he has saved the whole of humankind.
00:54:35Islam condemns
00:54:37all forms of terrorism.
00:54:39Islam condemns
00:54:40the killing of any innocent human being,
00:54:42irrespective of caste,
00:54:43colour, creed,
00:54:44irrespective of which
00:54:45nationality belongs to,
00:54:46irrespective of which
00:54:47religion he belongs to.
00:54:49Islam
00:54:50and
00:54:51I too
00:54:52condemn
00:54:53all forms of terrorism.
00:54:55I also condemn
00:54:57the 9-11
00:54:58which took place on
00:55:0011th of September 2001,
00:55:02the Twin Tower
00:55:03bombing in New York
00:55:04where
00:55:05few thousand innocent people
00:55:06were killed.
00:55:07I condemn
00:55:08the 7-7
00:55:097th of July
00:55:102005,
00:55:12London bombing
00:55:13where more than
00:55:1450 innocent people
00:55:14were killed.
00:55:15I also condemn
00:55:16the serial
00:55:17train bomb blasts
00:55:19that took place in Bombay
00:55:20on the 11th of July 2006
00:55:22where more than
00:55:23180 innocent people
00:55:25were killed.
00:55:25I also condemn
00:55:26the Gujarat massacre,
00:55:28the riots which were
00:55:29plea-planned,
00:55:30which took place
00:55:30in Gujarat,
00:55:31in India,
00:55:32where
00:55:32innocent few thousand
00:55:34Muslims were killed.
00:55:35I condemn
00:55:35all sorts of terrorism
00:55:37where innocent human beings
00:55:39are killed,
00:55:40irrespective of
00:55:41whether Muslim or non-Muslim.
00:55:42and whatever
00:55:43acts of terrorism
00:55:45which takes the life
00:55:47of innocent human beings
00:55:48is to be condemned,
00:55:50including suicide bombing.
00:55:52Now we have
00:55:52recently in the past
00:55:54few decades
00:55:54that a person goes,
00:55:57he puts up a bomb,
00:55:58goes in a marketplace,
00:56:00goes in a
00:56:01tube station
00:56:02on the road
00:56:03and he blows himself up
00:56:05and with him
00:56:06takes several
00:56:07other human lives.
00:56:08this act
00:56:09is not tolerable
00:56:10in any religion,
00:56:11especially Islam.
00:56:13Suicide bombing
00:56:14where innocent human beings
00:56:15are killed
00:56:16is totally prohibited
00:56:17in Islam.
00:56:20Unfortunately,
00:56:22though Islam
00:56:23is a religion
00:56:23which condemns
00:56:24all sorts of terrorism,
00:56:27all acts of terrorism
00:56:28that took place
00:56:28in the past,
00:56:29which is even taking place
00:56:30in the 21st century,
00:56:32even though it condemns,
00:56:34unfortunately,
00:56:35today,
00:56:35the media portrays
00:56:37Islam as a religion,
00:56:38which promotes terrorism.
00:56:41Every community
00:56:42has its black sheep
00:56:44and I am also aware
00:56:45that there are black sheep
00:56:48in the Muslim community.
00:56:51What does the media do?
00:56:53The media picks up
00:56:54the black sheep
00:56:55of the Muslim community
00:56:57and they portray
00:56:58as though they are
00:56:59exemplary Muslims.
00:57:02Because of this,
00:57:03today,
00:57:04we find
00:57:04that
00:57:05most of the people
00:57:08think
00:57:08that Islam promotes terrorism.
00:57:10If you read the Quran,
00:57:11if you read the sayings
00:57:12of the Prophet,
00:57:13Islam,
00:57:14amongst all the religions,
00:57:15is at the foremost
00:57:16in condemning
00:57:17the killing
00:57:18of innocent human beings.
00:57:19And
00:57:20one such prey
00:57:21of the media,
00:57:22of these media tactics
00:57:25was myself.
00:57:29Eight months back,
00:57:31in the fourth week
00:57:33of June 2010,
00:57:34I was supposed
00:57:35to give a series
00:57:36of talk in UK.
00:57:37I was supposed
00:57:39to give a talk
00:57:40in the Wembley Arena,
00:57:42in Wembley London,
00:57:44in LG Arena,
00:57:45NEC Birmingham,
00:57:46as well as
00:57:46Sheffield Arena
00:57:47in Sheffield.
00:57:48All these venues
00:57:49had a capacity
00:57:49of 10 to 15,000
00:57:51people.
00:57:52And these are
00:57:53prestigious venues.
00:57:55Just three weeks
00:57:56before my lecture tour,
00:57:58there was an article
00:57:59which came in one
00:58:00of the leading newspapers
00:58:01that is Sunday Times.
00:58:03Sunday Times,
00:58:04it gave an article,
00:58:05Muslim preacher of hate
00:58:07let into Britain.
00:58:09And this article,
00:58:10it gave portions
00:58:11of my speeches
00:58:12which were either
00:58:13quoted out of context
00:58:14or they were misquoted.
00:58:15And it portrayed me
00:58:16as a preacher of hate,
00:58:18a person who promotes terrorism.
00:58:21And the next couple of days,
00:58:23the same article
00:58:24was picked up,
00:58:26rehashed
00:58:27and reprinted
00:58:28in many of the newspapers
00:58:30of UK.
00:58:31Not only newspapers of UK,
00:58:33but newspapers internationally,
00:58:34including the newspapers
00:58:35of India.
00:58:38Unfortunately,
00:58:39these articles
00:58:40inspired
00:58:42the Home Secretary
00:58:44of UK,
00:58:45Theresa May
00:58:45to pass
00:58:47an exclusion order
00:58:48on the 16th of June,
00:58:492010.
00:58:51After reading these articles
00:58:53and hearing some clips
00:58:54from the YouTube,
00:58:55which were again
00:58:56either out of context
00:58:57and there were portions
00:59:00which were manipulated,
00:59:03based on these YouTube clips
00:59:05and the media report,
00:59:07the Home Secretary of UK
00:59:08on 16th of June,
00:59:092010,
00:59:11she passed
00:59:11an exclusion order
00:59:12against me.
00:59:13And the next day,
00:59:1470th of June,
00:59:15the Deputy
00:59:16High Commissioner
00:59:17of Britain
00:59:18in Bombay,
00:59:20on the 70th of June,
00:59:22they revoked
00:59:23and cancelled my visa.
00:59:24I had a valid
00:59:255 years multiple entry
00:59:27visa to UK
00:59:27which was issued
00:59:28on the 15th of July,
00:59:312008,
00:59:32valid till 15th of July,
00:59:352013.
00:59:36I have been coming to UK
00:59:37since the past 20 years.
00:59:38I have come several times
00:59:39and for lecture
00:59:40two other several times.
00:59:41I had a valid
00:59:42multiple entry
00:59:435 years visa
00:59:44which had come twice before
00:59:45in 2008,
00:59:462009,
00:59:47which was cancelled
00:59:49without giving me
00:59:49a fair hearing.
00:59:50I think
00:59:51this is an attack
00:59:52on freedom of expression
00:59:53as well as
00:59:54on human rights.
00:59:57Charles Farr,
00:59:59who is
01:00:00the Director General
01:00:01of the Office
01:00:02of Security
01:00:03and Counterterrorism,
01:00:04he was not
01:00:05in favour
01:00:06of this exclusion order
01:00:06and he wanted me
01:00:08to reach
01:00:09to those Muslims
01:00:11who he felt
01:00:12the government
01:00:13could not reach.
01:00:15But the Home Secretary,
01:00:16ignoring the advice
01:00:17of her senior
01:00:18most security advisor,
01:00:20she went ahead
01:00:21with the exclusion order
01:00:22and later on,
01:00:23a few weeks later,
01:00:24she even suspended
01:00:25one of the advisors
01:00:26under Charles Farr
01:00:27who supported me.
01:00:30I personally
01:00:31have more faith
01:00:33in the judiciary system
01:00:34rather than
01:00:35the political system
01:00:36of my country,
01:00:37India,
01:00:37as well as
01:00:38the country of UK.
01:00:40We did a judicial review
01:00:43and took it
01:00:45to the High Court.
01:00:47Though the Home Secretary
01:00:47said I have no right
01:00:48to file under human rights
01:00:50because I am
01:00:50a non-UK citizen,
01:00:53Justice Cranston said
01:00:54and he reviewed it
01:00:55and he said
01:00:56that he can file a case
01:00:58and he passed a judgment
01:01:00and said
01:01:01that the first three decisions
01:01:03of the Home Secretary
01:01:04on 16th of June,
01:01:0517th of June
01:01:06and the 27th of June
01:01:07all three were unlawful.
01:01:10But however,
01:01:11later on
01:01:12in the month of August 2010,
01:01:14when they gave
01:01:15additional information,
01:01:18he said
01:01:18that this is lawful
01:01:19which is not logical.
01:01:22I have faith
01:01:23in the judiciary system.
01:01:25We have filed
01:01:25for an appeal
01:01:26against
01:01:27the last judgment
01:01:28of the High Court
01:01:28and I have full faith
01:01:30that inshallah,
01:01:32very shortly,
01:01:33this exclusion order
01:01:34would be reversed
01:01:34by the Court of Appeal.
01:01:36I hope in future
01:01:40I may have the chance
01:01:41to meet the Home Secretary
01:01:43Theresa May
01:01:43personally
01:01:45and explain to her
01:01:46the peaceful message
01:01:47of Islam
01:01:48and remove
01:01:49any misconception
01:01:50about Islam
01:01:51or any of my lecture
01:01:52that she may have.
01:01:54I would have personally
01:01:54preferred
01:01:55to come personally
01:01:56in the Oxford Union
01:01:57and give this talk
01:01:58and have a lively
01:01:59questionnaire session
01:02:00rather than the satellite.
01:02:02Last month
01:02:03I had gone to France.
01:02:05I was in Paris.
01:02:07We had a board meeting
01:02:08of our trust
01:02:10Islamist Foundation International
01:02:11which is based in UK
01:02:12as well as
01:02:13Universal Broadcast Limited.
01:02:16Because I could not
01:02:17come to UK
01:02:17I called the board members
01:02:18to Paris
01:02:19and I was shocked.
01:02:21Normally
01:02:21the world feels
01:02:23that France
01:02:25is more strict
01:02:26against Islam
01:02:27than UK
01:02:27but when I applied
01:02:28for visa
01:02:29I got it within one hour
01:02:30and we had
01:02:32the board meeting there
01:02:33I would prefer
01:02:34having it in UK
01:02:34but because of the exclusion order
01:02:36which I feel
01:02:36the court of appeal
01:02:37very shortly will reverse it
01:02:39and
01:02:39though the world
01:02:41may think
01:02:42that
01:02:44because of the exclusion order
01:02:45it is an attack
01:02:47on freedom of expression
01:02:48but I would like to
01:02:49thank the Oxford Union
01:02:50that
01:02:51even though
01:02:52an exclusion order
01:02:53has been passed on me
01:02:54yet
01:02:54they permitted
01:02:55this debate
01:02:57or this lecture
01:02:58for the question and answer session.
01:02:59I would like to
01:03:00thank the Oxford Union
01:03:01especially the president
01:03:02Mr. James Langman
01:03:03for being bold
01:03:04and agreeing
01:03:06to have this lecture.
01:03:09The Oxford Union
01:03:10may or may not
01:03:11agree with my speech.
01:03:14They may like my talk
01:03:15or may not like my talk.
01:03:16What I appreciate is
01:03:17that they
01:03:18are really people
01:03:19who promote
01:03:21freedom of expression.
01:03:23I would like to conclude
01:03:24my speech
01:03:24by giving a message.
01:03:27Peace
01:03:27is the only solution
01:03:29for the problems
01:03:30of humanity.
01:03:32Many nations
01:03:33many countries
01:03:35have armies.
01:03:37They have got military
01:03:38they have got navy
01:03:39they have got air force
01:03:40some countries
01:03:41have weapons
01:03:42of mass destruction
01:03:43some have nuclear weapons.
01:03:46Believe me
01:03:46all these
01:03:47are not the solution
01:03:49for the problems
01:03:50of humanity.
01:03:51The only solution
01:03:52according to me
01:03:53for the problems
01:03:54of humanity
01:03:54is peace.
01:03:56There may be differences.
01:03:59There are differences
01:04:00in culture
01:04:00there are differences
01:04:01in languages
01:04:02there are differences
01:04:03in color
01:04:04there is difference
01:04:04of society
01:04:05irrespective of
01:04:06the differences
01:04:07one common factor
01:04:08amongst all human
01:04:10means of the world
01:04:10is that all
01:04:12want peace.
01:04:13According to me
01:04:14peace is the only
01:04:15solution
01:04:16for the problems
01:04:17of humanity.
01:04:18I said at the
01:04:19starting of my talk
01:04:20Islam is derived
01:04:22from the Arabic word
01:04:23salaam
01:04:24which means peace.
01:04:26And this word
01:04:27salaam
01:04:28is mentioned
01:04:29in the Quran
01:04:29no less than
01:04:3043 times
01:04:31and along with
01:04:32its derivatives
01:04:32it's mentioned
01:04:34no less than
01:04:35143 times.
01:04:37Salaam
01:04:37peace
01:04:38is mentioned
01:04:39in the Quran
01:04:39no less than
01:04:40143 times.
01:04:42And
01:04:42I started my talk
01:04:43by greeting
01:04:45all of you
01:04:45assalamualaikum
01:04:46which means
01:04:47peace be
01:04:47on all of you.
01:04:49The Quran
01:04:49says in
01:04:50Surah Yasin
01:04:50chapter 36
01:04:51verse 58
01:04:53that peace
01:04:54is a salutation
01:04:55from the
01:04:56Lord
01:04:56who is the
01:04:57most merciful.
01:04:59One of the
01:05:00attributes of
01:05:00Almighty God
01:05:01is assalam
01:05:02the source
01:05:03of peace.
01:05:04Quran says
01:05:04in Surah
01:05:04Al-Hashar
01:05:05chapter 59
01:05:06verse 23
01:05:07it refers to
01:05:08Allah
01:05:09Almighty God
01:05:10as assalam
01:05:10the source
01:05:11of peace.
01:05:13Quran says
01:05:13in Surah
01:05:14Maida
01:05:14chapter 5
01:05:14verse 16
01:05:15that
01:05:16Almighty God
01:05:17guides those
01:05:18people who
01:05:18come towards
01:05:19Him
01:05:19towards peace
01:05:20and safety
01:05:21and takes them
01:05:22out of darkness
01:05:23into light.
01:05:25That's the reason
01:05:25every chapter of
01:05:27the glorious Quran
01:05:28there are 114 chapters
01:05:29in the Quran
01:05:29every chapter except
01:05:319
01:05:31starts with the
01:05:32beautiful formula
01:05:33Bismillah
01:05:34Ar-Rahman
01:05:34Ar-Rahim
01:05:34in the name
01:05:35of Allah
01:05:36Almighty God
01:05:37the most merciful
01:05:38the most gracious.
01:05:41According to me
01:05:42peace is the only
01:05:44solution for humanity
01:05:45and I am a person
01:05:47who spreads peace
01:05:48my mission is to
01:05:49spread peace
01:05:50and as many may be
01:05:51aware
01:05:52that I
01:05:54started
01:05:55a global
01:05:56peace TV network
01:05:57about 5 years before
01:05:58in January 2006
01:06:00in January 2006
01:06:02I launched

01:06:59in the hands
01:06:59of the Arabs
01:07:00they fail to realize
01:07:01that the Islamic bomb
01:07:03the bomb of peace

01:07:32that they cannot
01:07:33be happy

01:07:38adult
01:07:39and then she

01:09:58completely
01:09:59change
01:10:00the condition
01:10:00of the heart
01:10:01so my dear
