00:00It's Christmas, let's stick with tradition and start with some injury updates.
00:10Ben White, obviously you think you've got some kind of hamstring issues,
00:17what can you tell us about him?
00:20Yeah, he's out. He's evolving well.
00:23He's not a major injury, but it will keep him out for a few games, I think.
00:28So, better than maybe it's been reported out there, it's not a major hamstring problem?
00:33I don't think it's going to be, and Ben is a really fast healer as well,
00:37so there's hope that we're going to have him in the next few games.
00:41Also, I'm seeing, of course, that there might be a bit of a target for Gabriele
00:45in terms of that big Aston Villa match on the 30th of this month.
00:49Would that be about what you were aiming for?
00:51No, he's pushing hard, as he always does every time he's out,
00:54and he's evolving really well, he's doing pitch sessions,
00:57so it's not too far.
00:59We have to see in the last stages of that rehab how he progresses,
01:03but we are quite positive about it.
01:05Earlier this week, I think it was Tuesday,
01:07we were allowed him to go out with the initial 15 minutes of access to the cameras and training.
01:13What did you get from it?
01:14We got back that it was a really happy bunch.
01:20A group of Premier League winners in the making.
01:23Top.
01:24And those who were Mendes, while we were there,
01:27I just wanted to check that that was just part of his normal process.
01:30Yeah, that was load management for a few players that played out of Mino recently,
01:35so that's probably the reason why.
01:37Happy anniversary.
01:39Thank you very much.
01:40Six years as you kick off against Everton tomorrow, exactly.
01:45Okay.
01:46Have you gone quickly or slowly?
01:48He's gone fast.
01:49A lot happened, but it's been an incredible journey,
01:54and I enjoyed every minute of it.
01:57And obviously, your first game, you weren't in Chica,
02:01but you were in the stand.
02:02The first game after you were appointed was at Everton.
02:05I think Carlo Ancelotti was in the stand as well.
02:07And back to Everton tomorrow, but a different stadium.
02:12How will that feel?
02:13Because obviously your connection is good to see you.
02:16Well, it's strange but very exciting as well.
02:19I think obviously one of the most iconic stadiums in the Premier League
02:24is not any longer part of our schedule.
02:28But yeah, I'm going to have the opportunity to win this.
02:31We're all going to have the opportunity to win this.
02:33An incredible stadium that they built.
02:35And yeah, Saturday night, you know what you expect.
02:38All those games you've played that good.
02:40But as a manager, it was a little bit of a bogey stadium for you, wasn't it?
02:45I don't think anyone won.
02:46For all that way, visitors, it's always like this.
02:49It's a really tough place to go.
02:51We all know that and that's why we're going to have to be at our best to win on Saturday.
02:56The mission is to make a new place, a new place, a bit more of a stadium
03:02where you can go and get a win for basketball.
03:04Yeah, and we had in the last few years very good records away from home.
03:08And that's the places that you have to go and win the game.
03:11And in order to achieve that, we're going to have to be really good.
03:15Nick from the Premier League.
03:16Hi.
03:17And you've all started a previous schedule of seven games in 20 days.
03:22The games are 100 tickets fast.
03:24You've been involved in the family environment for many years.
03:27Despite the hectic schedule, what is it the most you enjoy of being around the family?
03:34That is different.
03:35It hits you with big demands and a lot of games.
03:40And a lot of things happen in not only your professional life but in your personal life as well
03:46because there are special days for all of us.
03:49But ice is an opportunity.
03:51I think we are blessed to have the opportunity to play when people are on holidays.
03:55They can enjoy a lot of families.
03:57I think the atmosphere that is creating the stadium, it's unique.
04:00And that's what we have to enjoy.
04:03You look at your outfit there.
04:05Seb Declan Rice, Martin Julien, is playing the highest amount of family minutes.
04:09And this is his first season not experiencing a winter break.
04:12In terms of managing the world, how do you try to do it and get the best for the evening?
04:18Well, in the small windows that we have, we make sure that we look after him.
04:22And he understands that every possibility and every chance that you have to look after yourself,
04:28you have to take it in this league.
04:30Because the demands are going to be really, really high.
04:33But I think he's coping really, really well with the league,
04:36with all the challenges that the league brings to you.
04:39A new club, a new country.
04:41And I think he's been exceptional.
04:43He's spent six years, he's done good support with iconic stadiums.
04:46When you move into a new ground, a new stadium,
04:49how important it is to maintain the connections between the club and the fans?
04:53And you know everything very well.
04:55It's been a new, completely new stadium.
04:58Well, I imagine that that's what they've been trying to achieve.
05:02It's never going to be the same because everyone has his own history, energy and moments.
05:07And then you have to translate that we had experience here at Arsenal as well
05:10in order to achieve that.
05:12And yeah, it takes time.
05:14Ian Tottenham.
05:15Hi, Mikael, how are you?
05:16Hi, good, thank you.
05:17And six years in charge, in terms of your achievements,
05:22would you say changing the culture of the football club is right up there?
05:27It was one of them.
05:28It was the first foundation that we have to sit and I think that was done.
05:35Pretty rapidly maintaining it something that is very, very difficult
05:38and you need a lot of good people and very aligned people to achieve that.
05:43I think we have that in a really strong and solid way,
05:46but all the things socially, the transformation has been around the club
05:50in terms of the size, in terms of revenues, in terms of the squad,
05:53that we build the value of the sporting success that we had.
05:57Even though we haven't won any major trophies yet,
06:00I think it's very, very consistent.
06:02So we're in the right place.
06:04You mentioned not having any finally major trophies yet.
06:07That could come this season.
06:09You seem a very modest man.
06:10You'd like to share around all the praise.
06:15How much is this all down to you?
06:19But one man cannot really change anything,
06:24especially when you talk about the size of the history of this football club.
06:28You need a lot of good people, very committed people around you
06:32with the same vision, the same work ethic, the same passion.
06:36And I'm very lucky because I had throughout that.
06:39And then at the end, you need a lot of support.
06:42And starting from upstairs with everybody that makes decisions alongside you.
06:47But the most important one are the players.
06:49I think the players have to bind into what you say and what you do.
06:53And I feel very lucky because those players,
06:55they give you 100% in the direction that you want every single day.
06:59Tomorrow you face a man who fought you through the football.
07:02And maybe apart from the grey hair, not much has changed about David Moyes.
07:06Just talk about your admiration for him.
07:08Yeah, I think that's the word that I would use.
07:11Gratitude and admiration.
07:13I think he taught me the love that he's got for the game.
07:17And then the integrity that the game requires at any cost.
07:22You know, I think he's a remarkable man.
07:24I think the way he managed the club, the people, his players, it's outstanding.
07:30And I'm very grateful for everything that he did for me, for Everton as well.
07:35But I think in general for English football as well.
07:38Because he's been an example of how to behave in good moments and in difficult ones.
07:42And normally when you see how people are.
07:45And I think, David, that is something extraordinary.
07:48I'm a slightly left-field question.
07:49Not football-wise, but if I could wrap you up a little present this weekend,
07:53what would you like to get?
07:54Win, win, win, win, win.
07:56All the games that we won.
07:57No, no, that's it.
07:58After the rest will come naturally.
08:00But my mood, my energy is going to be much better.
08:02So that's what I want.
08:04We'll go to Matt from the center.
08:07Okay.
08:08When you took us three years ago, what chances then do you have given yourself to be in the match?
08:15How much would I bet, do you mean?
08:17I don't know.
08:18If I say, okay, I never coach at the highest level.
08:21I come to a club that is in a difficult stage of history.
08:26And the recent past of the previous managers, I don't know.
08:30But you have to take this job day by day.
08:33I do the same on day one, not today.
08:36Do your best.
08:37Do what you feel.
08:38Make sure that the people are on board with you in what you do.
08:43And that's it.
08:44And then at the end, in my job, at the end, it's about winning four matches.
08:47That's it.
08:48Yeah.
08:49Yeah.
08:50Yeah.
08:51He sets an option.
08:52I think he's given us every reason as well to consider him in a really serious way.
09:09If you look at the goals that he scored and the importance of those goals, I think he needs to be right up.
09:14I don't know if this is a word, but he's a player that has done a job in with his qualities and in the games that we demanded these qualities.
09:30Victor brings many other different ones and it's great that we can have those.
09:35And now Gabi as well, which he came in the last two games and made an impact in the game.
09:39And again.
09:40Last week you said Kai Habert was doing stuff on the bench.
09:44Is that still a case of how close he is?
09:47Yeah.
09:48It's progressing really well and quite fast in the last few weeks.
09:53So yeah, we are really positive that if everything continues like that in the next training sessions, he's going to be with us soon.
10:00And you mentioned that away form over the last few years has been really strong.
10:05But in the last three Premier League away games, Arsenal have conceded the first goal in each of those.
10:10So, Cyprus, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
10:13What do you put that down to?
10:15Because I think Arthur Walsh came from there and defensive habits you didn't like to see.
10:19Is that something that cracks him from those games or is that more individual?
10:24It's about consistency.
10:25I think we've lost one game in 21, yeah, away from home.
10:29So that said, you're in this league the difficulty of that.
10:31But if you want to continue to that, you have to hit almost perfectly.
10:34In a lot of things that you do.
10:38We've lost two games in the last kick of the game.
10:42Two possibilities to win the games as well.
10:45But that's why we have to learn and do it better.
10:48Tom, what's your problem?
10:49Tom?
10:50Tom, Michael.
10:51You mentioned at the Wals game about deteriorating.
10:53You don't get to try and resolve the game as much.
10:56You now have this first midweek.
10:58I'm curious.
10:59What have you been able to establish?
11:01What's been recovered in this week that has deteriorated?
11:04Well, sometimes it's the level of energy and consistent energy that you need throughout
11:09a game to sustain when you have players with so many minutes in their legs.
11:14And other things are the small things that we talked about.
11:17Those defensive habits or connections that you don't build because you don't have to do
11:22that and this week we have time to work on them.
11:24And hopefully we're going to see an improvement on Saturday.
11:26You're playing in a brand new stadium as well this weekend.
11:29We've seen a lot of new stadiums feel best-handed before moving the London stadium over to
11:33moving Arsenal back in 2006 as well.
11:35And those types of atmospheres in the old grounds are so intimidating.
11:38Do you ever feel like they get lost when a team moves to perhaps a bigger, more broader
11:43arena at the start of the game?
11:45I don't know.
11:46Sometimes when you change the location maybe as well.
11:49But I don't know.
11:50We're going to have to go and win this, how it looks like on Saturday night.
11:54It is going to be different to the previous one.
11:56You cannot expect to have the same one.
11:59But I think it will bring some good and positive things as well, I imagine.
12:03Okay, last one in the live section.
12:04Thank you, Charlie.
12:05Hi, Miguel.
12:06Hi.
12:07When you've got all your boards big, you've got lots of options at the moment.
12:10I mean, I imagine you've got more headaches in terms of selection.
12:14So what's the process in terms of picking?
12:17Do you play to these games about who's ready?
12:21How do you kind of come to the team?
12:23So, so far we are in December.
12:26My headaches have come with having no options in the front line and no options in the back
12:32line.
12:33That's a headache.
12:34I haven't had headaches.
12:35The other way around, I hope that I do.
12:38It won't be headaches.
12:39It will be difficult decisions, but they're going to make the team better.
12:43The headaches are when you have to make decisions that, you know, you're making the team weaker.
12:48Or you cannot make decisions because you're going to expose all the players or players that you give them too much game time.
12:55Probably they're going to get injured as well.
12:57So that's the headaches.
12:58I do.
12:59I don't want to say it because, again, I think in that last part of, especially after such a long time, that up of the rehab, I think we need to be cautious and we need to go really firm with every step that we take along the way to make sure that when it's back, it's back and it's back for the long term.
13:22I think the level of attention on him, it hasn't changed since he signed to today.
13:41It's normal.
13:42You know, everybody was so excited to bring a nine into the club.
13:46We did it.
13:47We brought a player with an incredible goal scoring record that had to adapt to the league.
13:51He had no precision.
13:52The first few weeks was difficult because physically he wasn't in his best state.
13:56And he's a player that needs that like any other player in this league almost to perform at that level.
14:02Then he kicked on.
14:03I think he had a really good period and he got injured.
14:05And now he's back.
14:06But I saw a lot of positive things in the last two games that he's done.
14:11We need to continue to tweak and understand him a little bit better in certain situations and he needs to do the same.
14:18But that's about time and we have full support for him.
14:22I don't know.
14:23At the end you have to experience it.
14:38You can imagine the global impact that you're going to have to deal with when you come to a big club and the expectation as it is.
14:47But after you have to leave it.
14:48And leaving it is always slightly different to your imagination.
14:51But he's doing it with a lot of desire.
14:55I think his energy level, his commitment, it's absolutely top.
14:59And we are here all to help him.
15:01Because we've all been here.
15:02We all need time.
15:03There is always moments.
15:04And the strikers have moments.
15:05They score more goals, less goals.
15:07And we need to be there for him.
15:09I think so, yes.
15:16Okay, well that finishes the live action.
