00:00I'm not sure about the etiquette, but I do know that hell hath no fury like a woman with a Twitter account.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're taking a look at the biggest celebrity controversies of each year since the start of the new millennium.
00:14You're dealing with a Vatican assassin, sorry. What does that mean, you're wondering?
00:18Whatever, it's just a joke.
00:212000, Gloria Trevi's abuse arrest.
00:30After going solo in 1989, Trevi became one of Mexico's biggest pop stars, with a string of number ones and roles in films, earning her the nickname of Mexico's Madonna.
00:43But in 2000, her image took a massive hit when she was arrested in Brazil alongside her then manager, Sergio Andrade.
00:51After a police manhunt, Trevi was arrested with two accomplices.
00:54The police had been looking for them for months after allegations they had kidnapped and abused girls after several backing singers and musicians came forward.
01:07In 2004, after four years and eight months in jail in Brazil and Mexico, Trevi was released due to a lack of evidence.
01:15In 2023, after the singer was included in a lawsuit from alleged victims, Trevi issued a countersuit against them and another suit against Andrade.
01:322001, Winona Ryder is caught shoplifting.
01:36In between her Oscar nominations and her starring role in the Netflix juggernaut Stranger Things, Winona Ryder made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
01:44The actress was caught trying to shoplift items worth over $5,000 in 2001 and spent the next several years in a high-profile court case.
01:54He said the actress walked past three cash registers with a pile of clothes and handbags before leaving the store.
02:00The charges ran the gamut, from burglary to grand theft to drug possession, although the latter was eventually dropped.
02:07This incident completely shattered Ryder's image as Hollywood's squeaky-clean it-girl, and even forced her into a four-year hiatus from acting.
02:16The actress is facing four shoplifting charges that carry a maximum three-year jail term.
02:22Ryder herself admits it was a dark time in her life, but thankfully, she's managed to bounce back both personally and professionally.
02:29They set up security cameras because of me?
02:32No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
02:33Wait, well, then why did they set them up this week?
02:35Because I can't think of a lie right now.
02:392002, Martha Stewart's insider trading.
02:43Given Martha Stewart's reputation for giving Americans happy homemaker tips, she was probably the last person anyone would suspect of being a white-collar criminal.
02:51Martha Stewart decided to spend her last night of freedom away from the glare of the spotlight.
02:57Tomorrow, she trades that glare for surveillance of a different kind.
03:01However, that changed in 2002, when it was alleged that Stewart had sold off more than 3,900 shares of ImClone Systems before its stock dropped 16% in value the next day.
03:12In 2003, Stewart was indicted on nine felony counts related to insider trading, and in 2004, she was convicted on all counts and served five months in a federal prison.
03:24What was a small personal matter became, over the last two years, an almost fatal circus event of unprecedented proportions.
03:33Because of the scandal, Stewart had to step down from the board of directors of Martha Stewart Living Omni Media Incorporated, and she couldn't join again until 2011.
03:422003, Kobe Bryant's assault case.
03:46Sometimes you may have, I don't know the extent of the discovery that the Bryant team has yet, but it's often used to find out specifically how a witness is going to testify, or you may have a written statement or a summarily written report.
04:01In 2003, the Los Angeles Lakers star was in the midst of his legendary career with a massive trophy haul and records set to be broken.
04:09However, that year would also leave the biggest smudge on his legacy.
04:14The NBA star was accused of assault against a teenage hotel employee, resulting in sponsors cutting ties.
04:21After he was charged, Bryant claimed it was consensual.
04:24As one of the many terms of probation, Bryant would undergo a polygraph test and have to admit his guilt or suffer the consequences.
04:32During the court case, the defense team deployed dubious methods by attacking the woman's character.
04:38The case was then dismissed after she refused to testify.
04:42In 2005, after the woman issued a civil suit against Bryant, the case was settled out of court.
04:48This is not a basketball game where I have, you know, a lot of control on the outcome.
04:54You really just got to let it go.
04:56And I think to do that, you instantly have to mature.
05:012004, Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction.
05:05Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's halftime performance at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004
05:10is undoubtedly one of the most infamous television events of all time.
05:14At the end of Rock Your Body, Justin removed part of Janet's costume, exposing her breast for about half a second.
05:30The backlash was massive, with shocked and outraged commentators lamenting the country's moral collapse.
05:37Over half a million letters poured into the FCC, who fined CBS $550,000, although it was later voided.
05:45The controversy is now remembered for having unfairly tarnished Jackson's career, while not affecting Timberlake's at all.
05:53All the emphasis was put on me, not on Justin.
05:56And, uh...
05:59Justin...
06:02We were friends.
06:04Since 1993, allegations about the king of pop and inappropriate conduct with children have haunted his career.
06:23In 2003, the documentary Living with Michael Jackson shone a light back on it,
06:29showcasing a lot of questionable behavior from Jackson toward child Gavin Arvizo at his Neverland Ranch.
06:36But I have slept in the bed with many children.
06:38I sleep in the bed with all of them.
06:40When Macaulay Culkin were little, Kieran Culkin would sleep on this side, Macaulay Culkin's on this side,
06:45his sister's in there, we're all just jamming the bed.
06:48This led to the police gathering evidence to arrest and charge Jackson on several counts.
06:54In February 2005, one of the biggest celebrity trials got underway,
06:59garnering a media circus of attention as several celebrities testified for the pop star's defense.
07:05In June 2005, after a week of deliberation, the jury found Jackson not guilty of all charges.
07:12The judge doesn't want to hear it, doesn't want to talk to the doctor and says,
07:16I am issuing a warrant for Michael Jackson's arrest.
07:19I'm forfeiting bail, but I'm going to hold it for an hour, and then the clock starts ticking.
07:232006, Mel Gibson's anti-Semitic rant.
07:27No one comes out of a DUI arrest looking good,
07:30but this drunken road trip ended up being the least of Mel Gibson's problems.
07:35It seemed like he was definitely, uh, had drank a little too many that night.
07:38When the arresting officer refused to let him drive home,
07:41Gibson unleashed a hate-filled tirade full of jaw-dropping anti-Semitic remarks.
07:47After TMZ leaked the arrest report, it hit mainstream news outlets,
07:51and that was that for Gibson's image.
07:53The devout Catholic wrote,
07:55I am not a bigot.
07:56Hatred of any kind goes against my faith.
07:58The ensuing backlash threatened to capsize his entire career.
08:02Actually, it did for a while.
08:04In the years following this 2006 scandal,
08:07Gibson struggled to make new friends in Hollywood.
08:10He's since apologized and regained his footing in the industry,
08:13but there's no way Gibson will ever fully leave his words behind him.
08:17You had some rough patches over the last 10 years.
08:20Yeah, a rough patch.
08:21Uh-huh, and, and, and how was that?
08:25Eh, not my proudest moment.
08:272007, Phil Spector's murder trial.
08:30The inventor of the so-called Wall of Sound.
08:33Now he's in jail facing a minimum of 18 years in prison.
08:37As the creator of the Wall of Sound music production style,
08:41Spector was one of the biggest producers in the industry.
08:43However, his life was turned upside down when actor Lana Clarkson
08:47was found fatally shot at his residence in Alhambra, California.
08:52Spector claimed it was self-inflicted,
08:54but the police didn't agree after gathering evidence and testimonies
08:58from staff of his involvement.
09:00So they arrested the producer for murder.
09:02In 2007, it was announced Spector's trial would be televised,
09:06drawing the world's media towards the event.
09:09D'Souza's testimony seems to be the nail in Spector's coffin,
09:14but defense attorney Brad Brunyon wastes no time trying to tear it apart.
09:20However, a mistrial was declared after a hung jury.
09:23In 2009, after the retrial,
09:26Spector was found guilty and sentenced to 19 years to life.
09:30In 2021, he passed away in prison.
09:32I met a lot of crazy people in my life.
09:36I met very few same ones
09:38that I could talk to.
09:422008, O.J. Simpson's robbery.
09:45Count one, conspiracy to commit a crime,
09:48one year in the county jail.
09:51Count two, conspiracy to commit kidnapping,
09:53a minimum term of 12 months, max term of 48 months
09:55in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
09:57In 1994, the former NFL star was thrust into the spotlight
10:01as he was arrested for the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman,
10:05of which he was acquitted at the trial.
10:07By 2007, Simpson was living a very different life.
10:10He was arrested for taking part in the armed robbery
10:13of the Palace Station Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada
10:16for stealing sports memorabilia,
10:18which he claimed was stolen from him.
10:20Two sports dealers, L. Beardsley and Bruce from Mong
10:23say they were held in the room and robbed at gunpoint.
10:26Four out of the five co-defendants testified against Simpson
10:29for lighter sentences.
10:30With his conspirators making deals to testify against Simpson,
10:34his case went to trial in 2008.
10:37He was found guilty of all charges
10:39and was sentenced to 33 years.
10:42In 2017, Simpson was released on parole.
10:45In 2021, he was granted early discharge for good behavior.
10:49However, three years later, Simpson passed away.
10:52And I didn't know I was doing anything illegal.
10:54I thought I was confronting friends.
10:56So I'm sorry.
10:57I'm sorry for all of it.
10:58When Taylor Swift won Best Female Video at the 2009 VMAs,
11:07Kanye was so outraged that he crashed Swift's acceptance speech
11:11and let everybody know what he thought.
11:13Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you.
11:17I'm gonna let you finish.
11:18But Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.
11:23The moment was embarrassing for everyone,
11:26even Beyonce, for whom West was advocating.
11:29Beyonce graciously invited Swift back to the stage
11:32to finish her speech when she won for Video of the Year.
11:35West faced enormous public backlash for ruining Swift's big moment
11:39and apologized.
11:40It was just, it was rude, period.
11:43And, you know, I'd like to be able to apologize to her in person.
11:46But in 2016, he also later took credit in an improbable lyric
11:51for making Taylor Swift famous.
11:532010, Jesse James cheating scandal.
11:56I never, in a million years,
11:59the last person I would ever want to hurt or harm
12:02is her.
12:04In March 2010, Sandra Bullock suddenly cut short
12:07her European promotional tour for The Blind Side
12:10to deal with personal issues.
12:12As it turned out, several days before,
12:15a number of women came forward claiming to have had affairs
12:18with Bullock's husband, James.
12:20Best known for creating West Coast Choppers
12:22and hosting Monster Garage,
12:24the two married in 2005.
12:26James soon made a public apology to Bullock
12:29and his family before checking into a treatment facility
12:32to try to save his nuptials.
12:34Unfortunately for him, it didn't work.
12:36As the Oscar winner filed for divorce a month later,
12:39which was finalized by June 2010.
12:42It was sad.
12:43You know, it's tough to tell somebody,
12:47someone that you love,
12:48it's tough to tell them something
12:50when you know when you tell them
12:51you're never going to see them again.
12:532011, Charlie Sheen's Fall from Grace.
12:56Ambien, hello, Ambien.
12:57Ambien, the devil's aspirin.
12:59Anyone? Ambien?
13:01I think that led to that thing in New York.
13:03I don't know.
13:03I know that's the one thing in the mix
13:04that was not part of my normal blend.
13:07Starring in Two and a Half Men,
13:09he was the reigning champion of TV acting,
13:12becoming its highest paid performer.
13:14Yet in 2011,
13:16Sheen had one of the most public downfalls
13:18in the industry's history.
13:19After entering a treatment facility for substance issues,
13:23the actor then criticized show creator Chuck Lorre
13:26multiple times in interviews
13:28as he demanded a pay raise.
13:30Nothing is kind of deplorable
13:32that a certain Haim Levine,
13:34yeah, that's Chuck's real name,
13:36mistook this rock star
13:37for his own selfish exit strategy, bro.
13:39So Sheen was fired,
13:41but he wasn't done.
13:42Sheen then did more interviews
13:44where his mental health was questioned
13:45after discussing tiger blood
13:47and declaring himself a warlock as he ranted.
13:51You're dealing with a Vatican assassin, sorry.
13:53What does that mean, you're wondering?
13:55Whatever, it's just a joke.
13:57People take everything so literally.
13:58After Sheen spoke publicly
14:00about returning to Two and a Half Men,
14:02it was announced Ashton Kutcher
14:03was cast to replace his character.
14:062012, Jimmy Savile's tarnished legacy.
14:10From charitable to con man,
14:11there may never be anyone who faces
14:13as steep a fall from grace as Jimmy Savile.
14:16Did you make up your mind
14:18that you were going to be totally honest?
14:19What are the certain things
14:20you weren't going to say?
14:21The bits that I didn't say
14:23are only those which I forgot.
14:26The English celebrity made a name for himself
14:29through radio shows,
14:30eclectic interviews,
14:31and mountains of benevolent fundraisers.
14:34He was a good, honest man,
14:36or at least that's how it seemed
14:37until his death in 2011.
14:39While there had been allegations before then,
14:42Savile's passing opened the floodgates
14:44to hundreds of sexual misconduct claims.
14:47Please do not let him get away with this perversion.
14:50Don't let him continue to think he's untouchable
14:52or that his secret is too well hidden.
14:55You heard that right.
14:56There were hundreds,
14:57many of whom were underage at the time.
15:00The overwhelming evidence
15:01shook the industry to its core,
15:03with many still wondering
15:04how such a rampant predator
15:05never faced justice in his lifetime.
15:08I don't think he would get away with that now.
15:10I think times have changed.
15:122013, Miley Cyrus's image change.
15:19At the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards,
15:24the internet was awash with shock.
15:26During Robin Thicke's performance of Blurred Lines,
15:29Cyrus used a foam finger suggestively
15:31and twerked against the performer.
15:34It was a far cry from the wholesome image
15:36she'd developed during her Hannah Montana days.
15:38And what has all this taught you?
15:41That parents should believe their kids
15:43when they tell them their cousins are evil.
15:45However, the seeds of the more risque change
15:47had been planted years before.
15:49On the same day as the VMA performance,
15:51Cyrus released the music video for Wrecking Ball,
15:54which drew further pearl clutching
15:56as she swung around in the buff
15:58and got intimate with a sledgehammer.
16:00When she was asked about the transformation
16:02on the Fashion Police show,
16:04Cyrus stated, quote,
16:05it's called puberty.
16:07You know now, you know what's happened.
16:08Madonna's done it, Britney's done it.
16:09Every VMA performance, anyone that performs,
16:11you know, anyone that performs,
16:12that's what you're looking for.
16:13You're wanting to make history.
16:14Me and Robin the whole time said,
16:15you know we're about to make history, right?
16:172014, Bill Cosby assault accusations.
16:20Before Hannibal Buress's rant
16:22at a stand-up show went viral in 2014,
16:25Bill Cosby was so loved and respected as a comedian
16:28that he was known as America's dad.
16:30But this squeaky clean image was quickly shattered
16:33as the sexual assault allegations came pouring in.
16:37However, after the Burris video gained attention,
16:40several women felt encouraged to come forward
16:42and accuse Cosby of misconduct.
16:44In 2018, Cosby was indicted and convicted
16:47of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constant
16:51and received a prison sentence of three to 10 years.
16:54However, in 2021, he was released early
16:57after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court
16:59overturned his conviction,
17:00citing a violation of due process.
17:03Many do not see a legal path for another case,
17:06but some say they're not giving up.
17:08Other cases are still pending, however,
17:10and the scandal has forever tarnished his legacy.
17:132015, Jared Fogel's crimes.
17:16Wow, wow, wow, look at that.
17:18This is the old, this was a 60-inch waist.
17:20Now, these are the relaxed fit, though,
17:22which is very important to have.
17:23After getting national attention
17:24for losing a load of weight by exercising
17:27and consuming a Subway diet,
17:29Fogel joined the sandwich company in 2000
17:31as a spokesperson,
17:33regularly popping up in their commercials.
17:35Subway even claimed he played a major role
17:37in vastly increasing their revenue.
17:39Every Subway sandwich is made fresh right in front of you,
17:42so you choose all the ingredients,
17:43the meat, the veggies, the sauces.
17:45However, after first coming to the police's attention
17:48in 2007, in 2015, Fogel's house was raided.
17:52After they found indecent media featuring children
17:55in his possession, the spokesperson was arrested.
17:58Not long after, Fogel pleaded guilty to his crimes
18:01as a part of a deal and was sentenced to 15 years
18:05and eight months in jail, plus fines totaling $225,000
18:10and a combined restitution to the victims of $1.4 million.
18:14Just hours after that raid,
18:17Subway suspended their relationship with Jarrett,
18:19who in the past few years
18:20had become the public face of the sandwich empire.
18:242016, Donald Trump's Access Hollywood tape.
18:28I gotta use some Tic Tacs
18:29just in case I start kissing her.
18:31You know, I'm automatically attracted to beautiful.
18:33I just start kissing them.
18:34It's like a magnet.
18:35You just kiss.
18:36In any other election,
18:38this scandal would have ended the candidate's career.
18:40Somehow it didn't,
18:42as Trump went on to win the U.S. presidency.
18:44Amid his campaign in 2016,
18:47footage of him talking in 2005
18:49to Billy Bush for Access Hollywood came to light.
18:52Unknowingly being recorded on a microphone
18:54as they were on a bus,
18:55Trump was heard speaking grossly
18:57about Days of Our Lives actor Arianne Zucker
18:59and Bush's co-host Nancy O'Dell.
19:02This is a time to set an example,
19:05to set example for our youth, men and women,
19:08and to teach our children
19:10how to be respectful of each other.
19:12Before talking about assaulting women,
19:15it was horrendous.
19:16Trump, who called it, quote,
19:17locker room talk,
19:19didn't get any serious repercussions.
19:21However, Bush,
19:22who weirdly laughed at the businessman's comments,
19:25was fired from today.
19:26Hey, when you're a star,
19:27they let you do it.
19:28You can do anything.
19:29Whatever you want.
19:30Grab them by the p***.
19:312017.
19:33Harvey Weinstein and Me Too.
19:35An influential producer
19:36once considered a titan in Hollywood,
19:38Weinstein was accused of assault and harassment
19:40by numerous women,
19:42as detailed by the New York Times
19:43and the New Yorker.
19:45After these stories came out,
19:46actress Alyssa Milano
19:47encouraged women around the world
19:49to share their stories on social media
19:50with the hashtag Me Too.
19:52It was started by actress Alyssa Milano.
19:55She tweeted out,
19:57if all women who have been sexually harassed
19:59or assaulted wrote Me Too as a status,
20:02we might give people
20:03a sense of magnitude of the problem.
20:05This would spark a movement
20:06that changed the way many industries
20:08viewed misconduct in the workplace.
20:10In February 2020,
20:12Weinstein was found guilty
20:13on multiple counts of misconduct
20:15and was later sentenced to 23 years in prison.
20:18Although that conviction has been overturned
20:21and he will be retried,
20:23he's still serving 16 years
20:24for a separate conviction as of 2024.
20:27This is seen as a severe sentence
20:29and perhaps a watershed moment
20:31for the Me Too movement.
20:32Harvey Weinstein sentenced
20:33to 23 years behind bars.
20:352018, Alison Mack and NXIVM.
20:39Best known for her role
20:40as Chloe Sullivan on Smallville,
20:42this actress was involved in NXIVM,
20:44a sex cult dressed up
20:46as a multi-level marketing organization.
20:49As part of NXIVM,
20:50which she joined in 2006,
20:52Mack recruited girls to become slaves
20:54for cult leader Keith Raniere.
20:56In 2018, Mack was indicted on charges
20:59including sex trafficking
21:00and forced labor
21:01that potentially could have landed her
21:03between 14 and 17 years in prison.
21:06However, because of her cooperation
21:07with investigators
21:08in bringing down Raniere,
21:10Mack was only sentenced
21:11to three years in prison,
21:12a thousand hours of community service,
21:14and was fined $20,000.
21:17She was released in 2023
21:18after serving just 21 months of her term.
21:22Prosecutors asked the judge
21:24to give Mack a reduced sentence
21:25because of the quote,
21:26substantial assistance she provided
21:28with their investigation into the cult.
21:302019, Felicity Huffman
21:33and Lori Loughlin's college admissions scandal.

21:38named Operation Varsity Blues
21:40uncovered a criminal scheme
21:42in which parents were bribing
21:43their children's ways

21:46The bust is called Operation Varsity Blues,
21:49and the accusations range
21:50from paying thousands of dollars
21:52for higher SAT scores
21:53to presenting students
21:54as top athletes in sports
21:56they never even played.
21:58It is a little enraging.
21:59Among those involved
22:00were actresses Felicity Huffman,
22:02best known for her role
22:03in Desperate Housewives,
22:05and Lori Loughlin of Full House fame.

22:12and Loughlin paid $500,000
22:14to have her daughter enrolled

22:24$30,000 fine,
22:26one year supervised release,
22:28and 250 hours of community service.
22:31The scandal shone a spotlight
22:33on how the rich are able to use money
22:35and influence
22:36to give their children
22:37an unfair advantage.

22:41treatment of employees.
22:43The comedian presented herself
22:44on her talk show
22:45as a friendly,
22:46down-to-earth personality.
22:47However, rumors of mean remarks
22:49and actions had circulated for a while,
22:52and in 2020,
22:54employees began to speak out.
22:56Remember, these were allegations
22:57of fear and intimidation
22:59at the workplace,
23:00of sexual harassment,
23:01of racism.
23:02Shocking allegations on their own,
23:05but this was at The Ellen Show.

23:09employees alleged that Ellen presided
23:12over a toxic work environment
23:14where they were exposed
23:15to sexual harassment,
23:16racist comments,
23:17and other issues
23:18from the show's producers.

23:25by acknowledging
23:26she's not just a TV personality,
23:29she's also the boss

24:07with aggravated criminal sexual abuse
24:09of four women,
24:10including three

24:41about the sexual abuse charges
24:43that landed him
24:43in jail last month.
24:45The embattled R&B singer
24:46spoke with Gail for nearly...
24:472022.
24:49The slap heard
24:49around the world.
24:51The morning after
24:52the 94th Academy Awards,
24:54everyone was talking
24:55about Will Smith,
24:56and not just because
24:57of his Oscar win.
24:58During the show,
24:59presenter Chris Rock
25:00made a tasteless joke
25:02about Jada Pinkett Smith's
25:03bald-headed appearance.
25:04That was a nice one, okay.
25:06In response,
25:07Will Smith climbed on stage
25:09and slapped the comedian,
25:11all on live TV.
25:12The burst of violence
25:13had more drama
25:14than all the Best Picture
25:16nominees combined,
25:17especially when Smith
25:18later won Best Actor
25:20for his work in King Richard.
25:21You're gonna be
25:22the best it ever was.
25:25You're gonna be
25:26the greatest of all time.
25:29You know how I know?
25:32Because I planned for it.
25:33Now regarded as
25:34the slap heard
25:35around the world,
25:36Smith's actions resulted
25:37in intense media
25:39controversy
25:39and a 10-year ban
25:41from future Oscar ceremonies.
25:43Will responded,
25:44I accept and respect
25:46the Academy's decision.
25:472023,

25:50According to
25:51the Associated Press,

25:54without any visible reaction
25:55during their comments.
25:57One woman calling him

25:59and completely violent.

26:12Masterson was soon
26:13fired from the show
26:14and his management team
26:15dropped him as a client.
26:17The deputy district
26:17attorneys saying
26:18justice may have been delayed
26:19but ultimately still served.
26:21Somebody needs to be
26:22held accountable
26:23despite the length
26:24of the time.
26:25Shortly after,
26:26more accusations came out,
26:28many of which were
26:28against other Scientologists
26:30at the time of the attacks.
26:32This led to Masterson
26:33being arrested
26:34and going to court.
26:35After the first case
26:36ended in a mistrial,
26:38the actor was retried
26:39in 2023.
26:40Masterson was found guilty

26:44the last resulting
26:44in a hung jury.
26:46He was sentenced
26:46to 30 years to life
26:48in prison.
26:48I'm going to explain
26:49my feelings to you
26:50through a highly disciplined
26:51form of Japanese poetry.

28:112025, Justin Baldoni
28:15versus Blake Lively.
28:17Looks like we will be seeing
28:19a little more
28:19of each other then.
28:21Is that so?
28:22In a year that also included
28:24the controversial
28:24Sidney Sweeney
28:25American Eagle ad,
28:27the story that dominated
28:28celebrity headlines
28:29throughout the year
28:30was the production fallout
28:31of the 2024 film
28:33It Ends With Us.
28:34The controversy began
28:36when a slew of allegations
28:37were raised
28:38regarding sexual harassment
28:39and a toxic workplace,
28:41against director
28:42and actor

28:48by the leave room story,
28:50then I can only imagine
28:51what this could do
28:51for so many people.
28:52So I wrote Colleen
28:53and she believed in me enough
28:56to give me the honor
28:57of adapting it
28:57and it's been five years
28:58to get here.
28:59In response,
29:00Baldoni sued
29:01the New York Times
29:02for running the story
29:03and Lively set forth
29:05a lawsuit against Baldoni
29:07for the initial allegations.
29:09Baldoni responded
29:10with a counter lawsuit
29:11for Lively and her team,
29:13alleging that
29:13the initial allegations
29:15were false
29:15and that she attempted
29:16to seize control
29:17of production of the film.
29:19As of November 2025,
29:21Baldoni's lawsuits
