00:00I'm a little bit shy, I don't want necessarily everyone to see me, but I just wanted to say it was a really powerful film. It really struck me and it made me feel very emotional. I'm British and I'm from the UK.
00:20Oh, I didn't realise there were other deaf people in the audience. My apologies.
00:32So I was just saying that, wow, it was such a powerful work. It really struck me emotionally.
00:39My partner and I are both deaf and we are from the UK ourselves.
00:43And there were so many things that were similar, so many themes that were similar to our experience here in the UK through the difficulty in learning and going through all education,
00:54being separated from other schools, those who were taught orally in deaf schools were separated from those who learned through sign language.
01:02I think some of the examples, especially in the car, when deaf people get together and that solidarity that we have
01:10and that enjoyment of sharing our language with each other and going to places like deaf clubs.
01:18And of course, in the UK, we have deaf people who use spoken language as well.
01:21They might have grown up orally or they might have grew up orally in schools and then they come to deaf community and sign language community later
01:30because they've gone through many years of trying to learn to speak and they've missed a lot of their education
01:35because I've sent so many errors in speech therapy. And sometimes it doesn't work.
01:40And sometimes also the situation where you saw there weren't interpreters available for some of the hospital appointments.
01:45That happens here. And it means that deaf people sometimes miss out on those experiences
01:51and you can see that stress and that tension for deaf people in their lives.
01:55So it was amazing. It was really powerful. And you had so many themes that were very similar.
02:02I think they're worldwide themes as well. So congratulations. Well done. It was a beautiful film.
02:07And I hope that the film really is released and gets released worldwide.
02:12And it's not just available for one night, but it's available for mainstream audiences and mainstream cinema as well.
02:17It's so valuable to be able to show how deaf people navigate the education system
02:23and how deaf people grow up and become professionals. So it's just powerful.
02:30So it's just so much like my experience. I really felt like that.
