00:00The MMDA Special Operations Group Strike Force conducted clearing operations on some streets in Manila.
00:06This as part of the continuous enforcement of discipline and the removal of transactions that affect the smooth flow of traffic.
00:14Rod Lagusad reports.
00:19Michael, a tricycle driver, attended to appeal to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, or MMDA,
00:26Special Operations Group Strike Force after his tricycle was confiscated.
00:30However, his request was denied because the tricycle had no license plate and lacked the required documents including the ORCR.
00:37In addition, he did not have a driver's license, which is a clear violation of traffic laws.
00:42Namanay ko ka walang lisensya, nagaatid ka ng mga bata. Paano pag nadisgrasya po kayo?
00:47Ikaw nag-iingat. Yung iba pwedeng hindi nag-iingat. Di ba? May impound po to, ha?
00:53Michael, however, promised to save money to obtain a driver's license and recover his confiscated tricycle.
00:59Meanwhile, the MMDA also impounded an SUV that was blocking the sidewalk along Kapulong Street, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road.
01:07Kapulong is an alternate truck route. So alam naman po natin napakadaming truck commodities, mga delivery vans, private vehicles,
01:14are passing through this circumferential road. So dapat malinis po ito.
01:18Other obstructions along the roadway were likewise removed.
01:22Violators were fined P1,000 for attended illegal parking and P2,000 for unattended illegal parking.
01:28The MMDA Special Operations Group Strike Force assured the public that clearing operations will be further intensified
01:34to ensure discipline and guarantee the proper use of roads for public safety.
