00:38You were big city living, girlfriend like Eva Mendes, until your side chick called you up, saying she might be pregnant.
00:47Now you're alone and crying, inside you're slowly dying, cause Magic Mike just got your key.
00:54That's how you know you messed up.

02:24costumes please welcome tv personality and founder of the thielife.com miss thai bullshop how are you
02:30hey love bug hi my love my friend hi it's so nice to have you back thank you it's always good to be
02:35back and it's nice to be back with a fro if i do say so myself you feeling it tell me about your
02:39costume i love this fro okay well who am i you get pam greer pam greer right i'm the foxy brown number
02:46one so um i you know it's out of my closet because it was very last minute um and it was just you
02:52know the jeans and a shirt that you just tied the waist a great fro which i paid i think like
02:58twenty dollars for and threw some boots on easy and go can you guess who i am well i really am
03:03thinking that you're a sexy jailbird well gloves i call myself a dirty mime but the producers are
03:11gonna get mad at me i'm just a mime you're just a mime okay i think you're you're a little bit dirty
03:16i can see the mime i okay the gloves right i get it cute i like the sequin because i think the
03:22idea of what we do with fashion and halloween costumes is that we have to bring a little bit
03:26of our personality right pizazz to it too so the sequins i'm loving you cute cute thank you very
03:31much all right so now we're just going to go ahead and jump right into it with a few of these
03:35last minute festive costumes so number one we have my girl flo from progressive insurance
03:41so tell me a little bit about this look how can we recreate this it's very very easy i mean if you
03:46have a pair of white bell-bottom jeans or white jeans period you have a white apron and we literally
03:50just got the press-on letters i think they're three dollars a pop at michael's or any craft store
03:55um you have the blue headband you add the bob wig a definitely flowy wig right and then you just go
04:01with it but but it's super easy it's festive and you still get to be you in some ways but then you
04:06step into someone else's you know kind of image for a minute that's super quick and easy and that's
04:10very very fun don't forget the red lip too you need that red lip and the fabulous smile
04:14oh gorgeous girl that's our essence staffer girls and i love them through in the paint
04:19and our last minute costume number two black panther activist come on out this is i i love this and i
04:27mean we're you know we're kind of channeling the same person in some ways but all you do is you
04:31dress in all black so your black jeans your black turtleneck your black mock neck your moto jacket and
04:37then a fro and you want it you know black sunglasses of course add the gloves um and you're good to go
04:41i think everybody has this outfit right now i would wear this actually every day even if it
04:46wasn't halloween no absolutely so you would you totally would but i think the other cool thing
04:49that we did here is that we added the buttons right so you want to personalize it you can go a
04:53little fun and funky with it you can actually even overdo it if you want just to make a little
04:57bit more of a power statement and there we go and our third last minute costume our obsession
05:02we're gonna love this one miss cookie lion cookie so how do you do cookie oh just with fear i think
05:09the most of it is attitude and fierceness it's attitude and fierceness but the other thing is
05:13that you want to just be all over the top so you have on the glitter shoes or the sequins shoes you
05:17have a black dress take a faux fur um overcoat or jacket add the leopard too and then of course you
05:23want to add a purple or a blue lip and then um in the glasses i mean look she is working cookie look
05:29see that attitude and that fierceness okay all right we see you essence staffer imani
05:34we see you she did it get it okay so what are you going to be for halloween um is this your
05:41type of shop no actually no i i was thinking i was going to go with this for halloween but since i
05:47debuted it here we'll have to do something else last year i was janet jackson on the thielight.com
05:51we did a whole mix of last minute costumes as well that are all empowering so i might switch it up
05:57and do a i don't know who am i thinking madonna maybe um you know right now i believe uh rosie
06:03the riveter i don't know i think i'm gonna have i'm gonna do something that's all about being
06:07empowered because i want to be me but step into a different me of sorts i love it i love it thank

11:36It's not like...
11:37You look good.
11:38You look like...
11:38A little zhuzh, a little something.
11:39Flava, flavor, something.
11:40A little something, something.
11:42So where did That's How You Know came from?
11:45That's how you know, came from just, like, having fun in the studio.
11:48And, you know, we're just singing around, playing around,
11:51and all of a sudden we started singing,
11:52That's How You Know, You Messed Out.
11:54And just, like, randomly, we had fun, we joked about it,
11:57and then was like, hey, let's try to record it, though.
12:00And so we did, and it's like, this is kind of cool.
12:03Okay, since you took off your Halloween costumes,
12:05and you left me to fend for myself...
12:08But you look good.
12:08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:09It's not the same.
12:10It could be your outfit.
12:11It could be what you came here with today.
12:12Hey, you are just...
12:13No, no, stop trying to make up for it.
12:15No!
12:15We're going to play a trick-or-treat game.
12:17All right.
12:17So, this is my little smoking jack-o-lantern.
12:21Okay, so this is the way it works.
12:22Okay.
12:22You're going to pull a question out of the cup.
12:24Can I put my hand in there?
12:25You can totally put your hand in there.
12:26Okay.
12:26It may not come back the same, but you can totally put your hand in there.
12:29Yeah.
12:29And there's either a trick or a treat for whatever it is.
12:32If it's a trick, you have to kind of, like, do it.
12:34It's like a truth or dare.
12:35But if it's a treat, you have to answer the question.
12:37It's like a really juicy question from one of our audience members.
12:40Okay, gotcha.
12:40Okay, you want to go first?
12:41I can go first.
12:42You can go first.
12:42Okay.
12:44Cold.
12:46Oh, my God.
12:47Why?
12:47What is it?
12:48What is it?
12:48You have to read it aloud.
12:49We're family.
12:50You got to show what you're doing on stage.
12:52Trick or treat.
12:53Show us your sexiest dance moves.
12:54Oh, get it.
12:55You used to be showing off on stage, and we got a dance move.
12:58You can't even dance with us in the conference room, so I know that's the move.
13:02No, he's been doing some stuff.
13:03Check this out.
13:03Sexiest stuff.
13:04You can do your stuff before you do the thing.
13:06This is a treat.
13:07It's a treat, right?
13:09That was a treat.
13:10Okay, bring it.
13:12Okay.
13:12Oh, Lord, have mercy.
13:14You putting on the beat and stuff.
13:16Okay.
13:16Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
13:20Go, Nico.
13:20Oh, go, Nico.
13:22Oh, hey.
13:23Hey.
13:24Hey.
13:24Wait, the shirt has to be a part of it.
13:29The shirt's a part of it.
13:30The shirt's always a part of it.
13:31We have a dance competition on the show.
13:33That's what I do to win every time.
13:35Oh, you said the win.
13:36Yeah.
13:37All right, you have to tell us, is it a trick or a treat?
13:38I hope this is...
13:39Oh, wow.
13:41Mm-mm.
13:42Is it a good one?
13:42It's a treat.
13:43It's a treat?
13:44Yeah.
13:44Read it.
13:45What is your favorite type of foreplay and why?
13:48Mm-mm.
13:49Okay, essence.com.
13:51I see you.
13:51Let us know.
13:52You guys said juiciest questions.
13:54You guys are insane.
13:55Our ladies love you guys, and so they send in their questions via social media.
13:59Yeah, you know.
13:59What do you expect?
14:00Cater.
14:01Let's cater to the ladies.
14:02Let's go.
14:02What do you expect?
14:04I like to, you know, take care of a woman.
14:08Are you blushing?
14:08That's not...
14:09I'm not blushing at all.
14:10I'm not blushing at all.
14:11He's like, no, I'm not at all.
14:12Okay.
14:12No, I like to take care of a woman and, you know, make her feel comfortable and, you know, satisfied.
14:18That technically did not answer the question.
14:21What you want me to say?
14:22But we're going to move on anyway.
14:24So we have time for one more.
14:25Who wants to do it?
14:26Okay.
14:26Should we...
14:27Maybe it's a two for one.
14:28It's our last one.
14:30What is it?
14:31Trick or treat?
14:33Demonstrate what you would say or sing to a woman to make her blush.
14:37Is that a trick or a treat?
14:38That's a treat.
14:39Wait.
14:39I think there's a treat in here, Diane.
14:42Okay.
14:43So let's go, both of you.
14:44Say or sing.
14:45Mm-hmm.
14:46What would you say?
14:47Yeah, what would you say?
14:48I'm going to say like, am I wrong?
14:50Oh, look at him.
14:52For thinking that we could be something for him.
14:55Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:57And that would be it, hopefully.
14:58And that would be it?
14:59That would you would answer, right?
15:00I'd be like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:03Well, thank you guys so much for coming.
15:05Thanks for having us.
15:06And thank you for performing with us.
15:07Slate or Shade is coming up next.
15:08Don't Go Anywhere.
15:08More Essence Live Halloween Edition.
15:38That's fine, cause I love the way you're staring at it.
15:54Stand out by design.
15:56Welcome back to Essence Live.
16:09We have had so much fun thus far on our Halloween episode, but now it's time to go all in with
16:15the new Slade or Shade.
16:16First, let's find out who's joining us today to slay these hot topics or throw a little
16:20shade.
16:21I got my wig, y'all, so I could really toss my hair today.
16:23She was here a little bit earlier giving us tips on how to create a last minute but super
16:27fierce Cookie Lions costume ensemble.
16:29Miss Ty Beauchamp, how are you?
16:31I'm great.
16:32It's so good to be here.
16:33Are you ready to slay or shay?
16:34Listen, I'm all about slaying.
16:36Slayacity.
16:37Yes.
16:38I'm going to give you hand gestures because it's on my mind.
16:41Next we have a slay or shay regular media personality, Mr. Ray Holliday.
16:44He's back.
16:45How are you?
16:46How are you?
16:47I'm good.
16:48How are you feeling?
16:49I'm good.
16:50I owe you a cup of gumbo.
16:51You do?
16:52I do.
16:53I owe you a cup of gumbo to help him over his head.
16:54It never came out.
16:55But I'll make gumbo for everybody.
16:56Okay.
16:58Help my boo out.
16:59Thank you for joining us.
17:00And next we have a newbie to the Essence Live Sofas here, reality show, star if you will,
17:06hot topic of all the shows, as well as an artist, Mr. Miles Brock, how are you?
17:11Um, great.
17:12Thank you for having me today.
17:13Okay.
17:14Now I have to ask you, there's a lot going on on social about the status of your relationship.
17:17What's going on with us?
17:18Uh, without giving too much, you guys just got to tune in.
17:21Without a piece.
17:22You guys just got to tune in.
17:23Because you know we have to ask all the tea, so what can you spill?
17:27I don't want to spill too much without spoiling things, but you know, with having a relationship
17:32in front of the entire world and being put it under a microscope, it makes things hard.
17:36Mm-hmm.
17:37So, you know, we're just kind of going through a-
17:39So are you together or nah?
17:40We're just in a foggy moment.
17:42We're in a gray area.
17:43I know the foggy moments.
17:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:45You know how you're in gray.
17:46It's a little gray.
17:47All right.
17:48So my at-home panelists, and those of you who are at work that we won't tell anybody,
17:52please use hashtag Essence Live.
17:53Let us know what you're thinking.
17:54You can join the conversation.
17:55So, let's get started in an all-new tell-all book, Beyonce, excuse me, becoming Beyonce,
18:00the untold story.
18:02Jonathan Hay, former publicist to Rihanna, says he leaked the Jay-Z Rihanna affair rumor
18:06back in 2005 to create hype around Rihanna's first single, Ponda Replay.
18:11In an email sent to the Daily News, Jonathan said he has since apologized to Beyonce and
18:15Jay-Z, and I quote, I didn't think it would be this big story, he said, but now seeing Beyonce
18:20on the cover of this book and knowing that people are going to profit from speculations
18:23and opinions about her really turns my stomach.
18:26So, what do we think?
18:28Count of three, slate of shade.
18:29One, two, three.
18:30Oh, it is shade all the way.
18:31Yeah.
18:32I'm going to start with you.
18:33Why is this a shade?
18:34I mean, it's shady because you can't say it all after the fact.
18:38You did it.
18:39But what I will say is that I wonder whether or not Jay knew about the leak because Rihanna's,
18:45and he stood to profit as well from the album selling.
18:48Absolutely.
18:49But, you know, you can't say that you're sorry about it after all these years.
18:53You know, once you put something out like that, it's out there.
18:55The internet was here.
18:56Right, right, right.
18:57And I have to add a little twist myself.
18:58I was reading on the way over that I believe Jonathan is now an employee of Tidal.
19:02Oh.
19:03So, it's a little extra, a little something on the back end, like, oh, Lord Jesus, let me
19:07not lose my job.
19:08How long he going to keep his job done?
19:09Right, right.
19:10Okay.
19:11Ray, you had a shade?
19:12See, that's why I shaded it, because I also read that.
19:15He's now an artist, and he's releasing his music exclusively on Tidal.
19:20Well, was.
19:21And in that same article, he says, well, now I hope that J&B, my relationship is not ruined.
19:26Jonathan, look right here.
19:28That relationship is ruined.
19:29It's done.
19:30It's done.
19:31I hate to tell you, I'm going to send you an email about it.
19:33All over.
19:34It's all over.
19:35Miles?
19:36I don't know what she feels.
19:37Like, it's already out there.
19:38Once you put it out there, it was just shady.
19:39It's shade.
19:40It's shade all the way across the board.
19:41I kind of feel bad for Jay-Z, like, you know, because he's a celebrity.
19:45He's an icon.
19:46Right.
19:47His fingers, so many fingers are being pointed out.
19:48He's like, but I really didn't do this one.
19:49This is right.
19:50Who's going to believe him?
19:51Like, kind of, you know what I mean?
19:52And I agree with that, but that's my point.
19:53Like, the fact that Jonathan put it out there, he had to go to his boss first.
19:57Absolutely.
19:58As a publicist, he had to get sign off on, like, because she's the deposit from it.
20:02So, I don't know.
20:03I mean, it's shady all the way around, though, because, you know.
20:06And these days, you never really know.
20:08You never really know.
20:09The truth, I mean, you never really know.
20:11Mmm, Jonathan, find a new label.
20:16Next up, just months after Miss NeNe, bloop, leaks, announced she was leaving Real Housewives
20:22of Atlanta, she's coming back.
20:24NeNe apparently made a surprise appearance in Jamaica, where her former castmates were filming
20:28their season eight trip.
20:30According to sources, she only made the brief comeback because producers reached out to
20:33her due to lackluster storylines from other housewives.
20:36All right, now, y'all.
20:37We all know how reality TV works.
20:39Mom, I'm going to need you to chime in.
20:40Okay, guys.
20:41On the count of three, is this a slate or shade?
20:44One, two, three.
20:45Slate?
20:46Oh, so shade.
20:47There's always one.
20:48Oh, no, no, no, no.
20:49Always one.
20:50One.
20:51Okay, Mom, I'm going to start with you on the reality TV test.
20:53Let's go.
20:54Thoughts?
20:55The show, my thoughts is, it just shows NeNe is just the baddest.
20:58They need her.
20:59They need her.
21:00That's a slate for NeNe.
21:01They need her.
21:02They added new cast members this year.
21:03They have, what's her name, Kim Fields?
21:05Right.
21:06Oh, wow.
21:07I kind of feel like she doesn't really know what she walked into, to be quite honest
21:10with you.
21:11How could you not know?
21:12I know, right?
21:13I'm sorry.
21:14She's probably like, what?
21:15I'm sorry.
21:16I mean, I thought I was 2D, so anyway.
21:17Right, right, right, right.
21:18I thought I was 2D.
21:19Okay, Ray, I see you over there dying to get in on this one.
21:23The show should be called NeNe Leakes and The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
21:26Because she's carried that show for like seven, what, eight seasons.
21:30So I really think, and then they said it was about money.
21:33Pay her what she's worth at the end of the day.
21:35Everybody's storyline last season was about her.
21:38Right.
21:39So I'm not surprised that there are no storylines.
21:41They barely have storylines to begin with.
21:43Right.
21:44It's kind of hard to imagine Housewives without Lanithia Lee.
21:48Lanithia.
21:49Oh, wow.
21:50I love saying that name.
21:51When you think of the entire franchise.
21:52I love saying that name.
21:53When you think of the entire franchise across the board, you think of NeNe.
21:56You think of NeNe.
21:57That's true.
21:58Why this Lachey?
21:59Okay, so I think it's a slay for NeNe to be able to go back.
22:03And obviously, like you said, she's going to make a lot of money from this.
22:06I mean, she's done well after leaving.
22:08She's going back.
22:09She's going to make a lot of money.
22:10And what the shade is is that if I recall correctly, and I don't watch Housewives all the time, but I have seen a few episodes.
22:16And I've heard her say that she was past that.
22:20Right.
22:21So the fact that she was beyond that not too long ago, but now going back, that's a little bit shady because she threw her castmates on the bus before.
22:28That's fair enough.
22:29Miles, would you go back and do another season of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood knowing what you know now?
22:33Yes.
22:34I would.
22:35I would.
22:36That was a pause.
22:37Differently.
22:38But, you know, situations have changed, but yeah, I would go back.
22:40What would you do differently?
22:42You'll have to wait and see.
22:45No!
22:46Molly, we in danger right now.
22:47Look, we still in the middle of the season.
22:49Y'all, you know, I got to save a little bit.
22:51And y'all going to be like, oh, he going to go back without.
22:53Well, let me ask you this.
22:54Are there certain things that you would choose to leave off of camera?
22:56Uh-huh.
22:57So would you be a little bit more curated, going back and doing a season two?
23:01You know what?
23:02I'm an open book.
23:03You guys have watched me.
23:04I'm open.
23:05I'm all out there now.
23:06It ain't no more secrets for me.
23:07You taking the leap off the cliff, honey.
23:08So it's, it's, it's.
23:09You already went there, so I don't know what.
23:14Ain't no more secrets.
23:15I don't have no more secrets.
23:16My secret?
23:17Hey.
23:18Okay.
23:19No more secrets for me.
23:20Fair enough.
23:21All right, our third topic.
23:22Well, actually, before we get to our third topic, I'm going to check in with you out there on Facebook family.
23:25Wendy Stewart said, and I quote,
23:27I thought she was done with that and she didn't want or need that drama.
23:30Better be careful before you burn down those bridges.
23:32Okay, Tom?
23:33I'm just saying, Wendy.
23:34They're on your side.
23:35Thank you, Wendy, for your comment.
23:37Next up, I'm sure you all are aware and have seen the viral and very scary video of Officer Ben Fields
23:42violently flipping over a student at her desk and dragging her across the classroom,
23:46all in an effort to arrest her after she allegedly would not get off of her phone.
23:50Yes, I said arrest after not getting off of her phone.
23:52Officer Fields has since been fired.
23:54However, the incident continued to be fodder for media outlets.
23:57Most recently, The View co-host, our girl Raven Simone, suggested that Officer Fields
24:02and the student he slammed were both at fault.
24:05Take a look at this clip from after The View via The View's YouTube account.
24:09The girl was told multiple times to get off of her phone.
24:12To get off the phone.
24:13There's no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm.
24:17That's ridiculous.
24:18But at the same time, you got to follow the rules in school.
24:21First of all, why are there cell phones in school?
24:23This shouldn't even be a problem to begin with and he should have been acting like that on top of it.
24:27We all a little speechless.
24:30We all like, hold up.
24:31All right, so I have to ask.
24:33Slade or Shade?
24:34One, two, three.
24:35We have Shade, Shade, and Shade.
24:37Miles, I'll start with you.
24:38Why is Shade?
24:39Because it has absolutely nothing to do with cell phones in school.
24:42Like, okay, everybody has cell phones these days.
24:44The fact that he put his hands on a child and drug her out like that.
24:47Like, that's absolutely absurd.
24:49You had WWE on her.
24:50Yeah, that's absolutely absurd.
24:52Like, I don't care what's going on.
24:53I don't care if she had a knife in her backpack.
24:55She shouldn't have been drug out like that.
24:56That's crazy.
24:57I completely agree.
24:58Ray?
24:59I mean, I'm only from one continent, Africa.
25:02So I might not get her view, because she's from several.
25:07That was a subliminal.
25:08Did y'all catch it?
25:09That was a subliminal.
25:10I think the way she thinks might be differently.
25:12I think that amount of excessive force is always just real.
25:16He flits her upside down and then dragged her.
25:19And why are there cell phones in school?
25:21The same reason why people are opening up gunfire everywhere.
25:24Like, your kids have to be prepared.
25:26Now, I don't agree that they should be scrolling Instagram during school,
25:30but there are ways to discipline people without putting your hands on them.
25:34And that was the wrong aspect in any given.
25:37I think she's trying to compare and contrast, and you really can't.
25:41You can't compare her being on the phone to her being flipped over and dragged out of the classroom.
25:45I couldn't imagine being a kid in that classroom.
25:47How?
25:48I mean, and when I saw the video, I was watching it this morning.
25:52I saw the video, and it was so hard to see the students behind them looking at this happen.
25:57Yeah.
25:58I mean, because at that point, you feel assaulted.
25:59Right, right, right.
26:00You're in my classroom taking away time for my education because the young lady didn't get off her phone attacking her.
26:07And so the shade, I mean, the shade for me is I, Raven is a very smart woman.
26:14She's not ignorant at all.
26:17Right.
26:18But I think that what Raven does is she uses her platform to get attention.
26:21Agreed.
26:22And I think that her comment was really about her getting attention.
26:24Agreed.
26:25Opposed to using this platform to say, look, that was wrong.
26:28And educate.
26:29Right.
26:30And if you want to talk about education later in our education system and the problems that we have in our education systems, that's a different conversation.
26:37So I just feel like it was a little bit of a sensational answer.
26:40Mm-hmm.
26:41So all of you are kind of in line with the fact that maybe Raven sometimes, she should just be using her platform maybe for more good versus evil, if you will.
26:48And it's not even about good versus evil.
26:50It's about this need to be the shock shock of the show.
26:53Exactly.
26:54And that means more to her than really addressing the issue.
26:57So she'd much rather get those ratings up for them when you're really going to end up being the joke at the end of the day.
27:03Right.
27:04I just want to know what the young lady's parents are doing.
27:05Because I know that was Donald and Kathy Johnson.
27:06It's a lawsuit.
27:07Yeah.
27:08A big lawsuit.
27:09It's a lawsuit, though.
27:10Oh, definitely.
27:11I mean, it's definitely a lawsuit.
27:12And I think, you know, the sad part about it is that why do you call a police officer in for an eighth grader who's sitting at their desk?
27:19And he's a police officer slash football coach for the school.
27:22Called Slam, I heard.
27:23Wow.
27:24I heard his nickname is Slam.
27:25That's what rumors have.
27:26Amazing.
27:27Wow.
27:28This may not even be the first person that he, first child that he slammed.
27:30Well, he has an expensive history.
27:31You never know.
27:32Oh, I didn't know that.
27:33Which is the real issue.
27:34He's done this several times in different ways.
27:35So why is he even working at school?
27:37Okay.
27:38Wow.
27:39Well, thank you guys, all of you for joining me.
27:40Ty, Ray, and Miles.
27:41Thank you so very much.
27:42Thank you for having me.
