00:46Allora, I mean, just, you know, families are, it's endless fodder for drama.
00:58And it's always fun to mess with, you know, these God-sanctioned, you know, units that are, you know, especially
01:10in the States, you know, are the nuclear families, you know.
01:15I have a curiosity, why in this movie and also in your short Munchen food is always associated with something
01:25horrible?
01:26The food, I'm from Italy, so.
01:29Right, yeah, because it's been poisoned.
01:36You know, I think it's, this film and that short to maybe a lesser degree are playing with, you know,
01:45paranoia and the idea that, you know, people have, people might have these Machiavellian ends in mind.
01:54And they might not have your best interest at heart.
01:59And so, you know, I'm just playing with that natural skepticism that people might already have.
02:12I really enjoyed sound design in this movie.
02:15I think it's really amazing.
02:16And I was curious about the constant and deep sound that we hear through all the movie.
02:24I'm curious, it is the sound of hell?
02:26The sound of pain?
02:28What is it?
02:29That...
02:29Oh, yeah.
02:30Yes, almost like a washing machine.
02:32Yeah.
02:33Well, it's funny because that, you know, part of that sound design in that it's more sound mixing in that
02:39we brought it up, but that's actually part of the score by Colin Stetson.
02:43And I believe that's sax.
02:46That's a saxophone.
02:47But I knew I wanted to have this, like, sub bass sound that you could feel in your gut more
02:55than you could hear it.
02:55And it almost sounds as though it's coming from the next theater, like reverb.
03:03But, yeah, it's just meant to enhance the dread.
03:16The most horrible thing that we see in this movie is the things that mother and son tell each other.
03:25So, how was directing these two actors, which are amazing?
03:29They scream all the time.
03:31They are amazing.
03:34Well, you know, it was all in the script.
03:37So, there was very little that I had to do once I had cast the film, you know?
03:41I think so.
03:42It's a platitude, you know, to say, you know, like 90% of directing is in the casting.
03:48But it's really true.
03:50And so, you know, I got to just sit at the monitor and basically be a fan and just enjoy
03:58what the actors were doing.
03:59.
