00:00Then going to the movies, you know, honestly, some of my favorite, you know, experiences was,
00:04you know, like, you know, seeing Jurassic Park with my dad.
00:24The first movie was an horror movie.
00:27This one is an horror too.
00:28You are going to go with another horror movie with the third.
00:33Why do you love scaring people so much?
00:35You know, I love the experience.
00:36I just love, you know, from being a kid, you know, you know, when I would see, you know,
00:41scary movies on VHS, like, you know, I would usually watch it with my friends, like on
00:45sleepovers and, you know, and then going to the movies, you know, honestly, some of my
00:49favorite, you know, experiences was, you know, like, you know, seeing Jurassic Park with my
00:53dad.
00:53And that was like, maybe not a horror movie, but it really, you know, in some ways it is.
00:57I mean, it really is like that thrill ride feels so much the experience of going to the
01:04movies.
01:04And, you know, it's so ingrained in me.
01:06And I think that that's always kind of an experience I'm trying to get back to.
01:09And, you know, I, you know, it's my favorite experience in the theater.
01:13You know, all the secrets and the tricks behind special effects and horror scenes.
01:20So what scares you now when you watch another movie?
01:24I think one of the things that I, you know, I just love is in camera effects.
01:28I think that, you know, the more and more I just feel like it's a lost art.
01:31And, you know, even though I love CG and respect the, you know, the work that goes into
01:35it, I think that when you see, you see something that is unmistakably in camera, or at least
01:41you believe it's in camera.
01:43I think that that is something that is really just, you know, it's, it's a testament to the
01:47art.
01:47You know, it's, it's becoming more and more lost craft, a lot, you know, this kind of
01:51this lost art.
01:52And I think that there's just so much, you know, cool craftsmanship in it.
01:55I think people respond to it.
01:56I think that even just having actors on set, you know, responding to it, you know, in
02:01our, the opening of the movie has this exorcism and all of those contortions are, you know,
02:06real, all of that kind of, you know, you know, all the stuff is, you know, happened in front
02:11of the, the, the camera.
02:13And I think it has an effect.
02:14I think people are, you know, see that and they get, you know, you know, disturbed in a
02:18way that CG can't deliver.
02:19John Noble's character says that, uh, uh, for, for satanists, uh, why is irrelevant?
02:27So do you think that, uh, when we stop asking ourselves why we are doing something, then bad
02:35things happen?
02:36Yeah.
02:36I mean, I think that the, um, I think we're, you know, where John Noble is, you know, kind
02:42of what he's getting at and the, you know, the intention behind that, that line is, um,
02:47Um, you know, really speaking to, you know, absolute and kind of unknowable evil.
02:54I think that there is something that, you know, that is, you know, one of the things
02:57that is kind of, you know, a thread through the, um, the conjuring universes is there is
03:03some, there's some evil that you just can't understand that it kind of operates in its
03:08own, you know, its own world with its own reason.
03:11And I think that that in itself is, you know, just so, so much more powerful.
03:15Um, you know, and when you have something that, you know, is just committed to taking
03:19lives.
03:19And, um, I think that that is kind of part of, you know, part of his intention.
03:23And I think, you know, I think maybe getting at your question more is, you know, it's like,
03:29I think that, you know, and even the bigger, the film is, you know, I think asking questions
03:34is important.
03:35I think we're in a world where it's like, everyone wants the easy, quick answer.
03:40They want basically the tweet, you know, what is the tweet answer of it?
03:43And, you know, a lot of times, you know, I think, you know, situations are much more
03:47complex than that.
03:48And I think we're kind of, it's, I think good conversation and asking why and digging into
03:53the nuance of, of a situation should be encouraged.
03:58You know, we shouldn't just be in, you know, a world where we are just making snap decisions,
04:03even though I think it's, you know, we're overloaded with information, overloaded with, you know,
04:07issues, it's, it's really tempting to just kind of have like, you know, to just say everything
04:12is black and white.
04:14And I think honestly, that was one of the things that I just found in making the movie.
04:17And, you know, I, you know, just going through it, you kind of have like, you have to kind
04:22of question, you know, you know, did Arnie do it?
04:25Did, is this something that do I even believe the defense of demonic possession?
04:30And I think that, you know, the more you dig into the situation, the more you understand
04:34it, I think that there is, it isn't just open and shut.
04:37It isn't just like, you know, black and white case.
04:39And I think that that, you know, there should be more conversation like that.
04:42There should be more conversation with nuance.
04:45Okay.
04:46Thank you so much.
04:47Bye.
04:48Thank you so much.
04:48Good to see you again.
04:50Bye.
