When architect Ruchanan Patarapanich set out to redesign this 54sqm/581sqft Bangkok apartment, for his longtime friend Promchan Chanratanapreeda, the goal wasn't just to make it feel bigger—it was to make it feel like home. Located in the relaxed, lively Ari neighbourhood in Bangkok, the former one-bedroom layout was stripped back and reimagined as a single, flowing space shaped by flexibility, calm, and creative thinking. Soft, ceiling-mounted curtains replace solid walls, defining zones for sleeping, dressing, and lounging—without sacrificing light or openness. A plywood kitchen with portable appliances, a flexible dining area, and cleverly integrated storage keep the home adaptable and efficient, while a raised platform at the back of the apartment doubles as a space for rest and movement, with a foldable tatami mattress tucked away by day.
