00:00rebuild their club but they need a result tonight to hang around with a
00:04chance of getting out of this group and Olympia meanwhile in a quest to finally
00:08win this tournament for the first time in their history. An Olympia who were
00:12disappointed to be held to a draw at home in their last match as the whistle
00:16sounds and we are rolling in Rio de Janeiro. Can they attack those two
00:23center backs? It's a good delivery as well and it's headed over by Richard
00:29Ortiz. Morales actually getting up for it. They're right back.
00:57One other match in progress in the Sudamericana currently. Carabobo leading
01:02Blooming 1-0. Game being played in Valencia, Venezuela. Later tonight Tigre at home to
01:11America de Cali in Buenos Aires. Alianza Atletico and Makara. Headliner River Plate
01:20visiting Red Bull Bragantino. Now a chance for Vasco and just wide.
01:30Accepting it in that pocket and able to stride onto it with his left foot.
01:35And in 1898 that was the 400th anniversary of the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama's famous
01:50voyage as this is struck from distance and beaten away at his near post by Gaston Olvera.
02:00That was on frame. That would have crept inside that post.
02:04This is Quintana. Their box to box midfielder. Now Romeo Benitez up against Rodriguez. Lays it off top of the
02:11area. Curled with the right foot and the first save of the night for Leo Jardim.
02:16This was the strike a moment ago from Quintana. Hit it well. Trying to curl it inside that far post.
02:21It's a decent stop by Jardim who did well to hold on and allow no rebound.
02:28Adzon combining with Puma Rodriguez. Rodriguez looking to run and doing so and coming to the inside on his left
02:36foot. Puma Rodriguez straight at Olvera.
02:39Puma Rodriguez. Strong run. Strong shot. Couldn't pick a corner.
02:57Now give it away at the other end. Nearly.
03:01Saldivia able to punch it away.
03:04There is Ramon Rique.
03:11Barely played for the first team until tonight.
03:13Wasn't supposed to start tonight either.
03:23Vasco getting themselves in some trouble.
03:26Able to work their way out of it.
03:32Again Olympia's tactical setup at the start of this night
03:36make it difficult to play through the middle against them.
03:39but there's some space out wide
03:40which Vasco are finding.
03:44Headed back for Rodriguez.
03:46Puma Rodriguez
03:48scores for Vasco da Gama
03:50and their main threat in this first half
03:53finally pays off for the team in black.
03:57And it's the side from Rio
03:59in Rio
04:00who are in front.
04:12And Adson involved again.
04:14He's combined so well with Puma Rodriguez
04:16in this first half
04:17and that time the combination
04:19was perfect
04:20and the finish
04:23couldn't have been walked in any better.
04:25Watch how well he hits this with the left foot.
04:27The cushioned header back
04:29straight into his path.
04:30First time on the half volley.
04:31No chance for Gaston Olvera.
04:34And every chance for this heavily rotated Vasco side now
04:37to possibly take three precious points
04:41and get themselves back.
04:48With the right foot
04:49it's just over.
04:51Johan Rojas
04:53and it concluded
04:54in the best possible way
04:55in the 40th minute
04:56for Vasco
04:57through Puma Rodriguez
04:58who finished so beautifully
05:00from the cushioned layoff
05:01by Adson.
05:03Three goals better
05:04in goal differential
05:05than the second place team
05:07Addox Italiano
05:08who won here in Rio
05:09two weeks ago.
05:10There's our second half whistle.
05:12We're back underway.
05:14Vasco trying to go to four points
05:16and join Olympia.
05:17It was a loose touch
05:19and it's lost to Spinelli.
05:21Three in the attack for Vasco
05:22and they're able to press through.
05:25Advancing is Moreira.
05:26Lays it off for Spinelli.
05:28Spinelli hit the foot of the post.
05:30Still alive on the edge.
05:32Then from the penalty spot
05:33they score.
05:34Nuno Moreira
05:35and it's a second
05:37for Vasco da Gama.
05:45So many question marks.
05:47They're answering all of them
05:48and they are two goals
05:50to the good
05:51early in this second half.
05:54And it came from
05:55another Olympia mistake.
05:57Spinelli was so close
05:58as he hit the post
05:59but then it's kept alive
06:00and recycled back to Moreira
06:03who finished.
06:06The reaction right here
06:08the sliding pass.
06:10It's Adzon again
06:11who's going to pick up
06:12a second assist.
06:13He has now assisted both goals.
06:14Remember he laid off
06:15the cushioned header
06:16into the path of Puma Rodriguez
06:18late in the first half
06:20for that opening goal.
06:22And now the sliding pass.
06:24So well improvised by Adzon
06:26and so well finished.
06:28They are fully into it now.
06:30And their side wins it back again.
06:32Spinelli the stepovers.
06:35Spinelli over the bar.
06:39Had a teammate making a run.
06:44But as a center forward
06:45he went for it himself
06:46and he can't blame him.
07:08nothing seems easy for Olympia.
07:14Even simple passes
07:15going astray.
07:19Right now the result
07:21very much going astray
07:22from their standpoint.
07:28Fosco looking dangerous
07:29every time they win the ball now.
07:32Rodriguez wanted it
07:33into his path
07:34didn't get it initially
07:35but now it's Adzon.
07:36Adzon is in.
07:37Adzon scores!
07:39And Fosco
07:40are running over Olympia
07:43and what a night
07:44he's having.
07:45What a night
07:46they're having.
07:47It's a party in Rio.
07:49It's 3-0.
07:57There were so many options.
08:00Adzon
08:01had to get it out
08:01of his feet initially
08:02but did ever so well.
08:04Not only did he do that
08:06he stuck it right
08:07in the far corner.
08:10Confident finish.
08:11Perfect finish.
08:13And it's turning
08:14into a perfect night
08:15for Vasco da Gama.
08:24And Olympia have
08:25yet to recover.
08:28They do have this
08:29free kick here
08:30which they blast
08:31over the barns
08:32and frustrates
08:33a bunch of teammates
08:34in white.
08:36This is turned over.
08:39Olympia trying to create
08:40just a bit of doubt
08:41and the referee
08:42has pointed
08:43for a penalty.
08:46Penalty for Olympia
08:4770 minutes in.
08:51And maybe a chance
08:52to introduce
08:53just a hint of doubt
08:54to this result.
09:00And now
09:01Jesus Valencia
09:02is being called
09:02to the monitor.
09:04So hold on.
09:06That penalty
09:06very much in doubt now.
09:10Well I did think
09:11at first glance
09:12if there was contact
09:13with the arm
09:14with the ball
09:14it was very slight.
09:16Now even slight contact
09:17can be enough
09:18for handball.
09:19Does it actually
09:20hit his arm there
09:20is the question
09:21and I think
09:23lead VAR tonight
09:24Carlos Orbe
09:25has a real doubt
09:26in his mind
09:27as to whether
09:27it actually did.
09:30Does it actually
09:31hit the arm?
09:33Now with the original
09:35decision being
09:36contact and a penalty
09:41of course
09:42the VAR
09:42has to judge
09:43that there's
09:43a possibility
09:44of a clear
09:45and obvious error.
09:49And
09:50was the ball
09:50even in the penalty
09:51area
09:52when it was
09:52touched by the arm
09:53if it was touched
09:54at all
09:56by Freitas?
09:57So that's also
09:58a question
09:59and the decision
10:00is
10:01a drop ball
10:02and no penalty.
10:08Vasco looking
10:09for a fourth
10:09now.
10:11First time
10:12cross toward
10:12the near post
10:13it's redirected
10:14on target
10:14by Spinelli
10:15and capped out
10:16by Olvera.
10:22Now this is a good run
10:23ball through
10:24chance for Olympia
10:25and it's blazed over
10:26and
10:28another moment
10:28where they could have
10:29grabbed something
10:30back tonight.
10:31But as things
10:31currently stands
10:32in this group
10:35it would be
10:36Vasco to the top
10:37of the tables
10:38this is driven
10:38on goal
10:39and pushed
10:39out
10:40by Olvera.
10:43They played
10:44the free kick
10:45short
10:45then it was
10:45driven on goal.
10:52It's over.
10:53A banner night
10:54for the Blackshirts.
10:56A giant result
10:57for the Giants
10:58of the Hill.
11:02God bless you.
11:05God bless you.
11:09He's a good nation
