00:00You probably saw Kylie Jenner courtside at the Knicks game with Timothee Chalamet
00:04and a slew of celebrities. Hi, Tina Fey.
00:06But on the West Coast, things aren't going so well for Kylie.
00:09Here to break it down is our entertainment reporter, Eric Tedisco.
00:12What's going on with Kylie's legal troubles?
00:14Yeah, Kylie's getting in a little bit of a mess lately.
00:17So on Wednesday, a second housekeeper that formerly worked for Kylie
00:20filed a lawsuit against her, the supervisor, the housekeeping supervisors
00:24and the company that runs all the housekeeping supervisors.
00:27So the claimant's name is Juana Delgado Soto,
00:30and she claims that there was discrimination in a hostile workplace environment.
00:35What specifically, what are some of the details in the lawsuit that we've learned?
00:38Yeah, so she claimed that she started working for Kylie in about 2019
00:41and said that for the first few years she was treated not kindly.
00:45She said that she wasn't given bathroom breaks or water breaks,
00:48but she said that things really took a turn for the worse in 2023
00:50when she worked under a specific supervisor.
00:53And she said this supervisor specifically treated her really horrible
00:56and said that he allegedly called her stupid, made comments about her accent,
01:01made comments about her purported immigration status.
01:04And so she said from there things really took a turn for the worse.
01:07And there was one specific night where she said that she was working
01:11and it was her birthday and there was a surprise party planned for her
01:14with her friends and her family.
01:15And the supervisors basically told her,
01:17sorry, you have to stay. Kylie has a dinner planned.
01:20She was not allowed to leave the house.
01:21She missed her surprise party.
01:24And so there's just a whole bunch of stuff that she is claiming in this lawsuit
01:27that's filed against Kylie,
01:29against the supervisor that she worked under and the housekeeping supervising company.
01:33Yeah, and I read in your piece that there was a moment where
01:36the supervisor was suspended for a couple of months and then when she came back,
01:41when he came back,
01:42there might have been alleged retaliation for tattling, for whistleblowing.
01:46Correct.
01:46So once it came to 2024,
01:48she decided to make a report to HR and make all of these allegations
01:51about how she was allegedly being treated.
01:53He was temporarily taken off of his position,
01:56hired back,
01:57and from there she claims he retaliated against her.
02:01So what were some of the ways that he allegedly,
02:03the supervisor allegedly retaliated when she came back under his supervision?
02:07Yeah, so she's claiming that he changed her hourly wage
02:10and obviously allegedly decreased it.
02:13He's claiming that she had to work longer.
02:15She's claiming that he forced her to work longer hours.
02:18So she's saying that they really retaliate in a really brutal way.
02:21Cut to 2025,
02:22she claims that she wrote a note basically begging for help to Kylie
02:26and explaining some of the things that they've been doing and saying like,
02:29please help me.
02:30She says that she wrote a note and put it on Kylie's massage bed,
02:33which of course is such a Kylie Jenner thing to have in her household,
02:36of course.
02:36Not her main bed, the massage bed.
02:38No, exactly.
02:38Yes, there's sort of multiple.
02:40So she alleges that and then said that the following day,
02:43she does not clarify whether or not Kylie saw the note.
02:47We still don't know, at least from this lawsuit yet.
02:49And she says that the supervisors that she worked under once again,
02:53allegedly retaliated against her by telling her she is not allowed to talk to Kylie.
02:57She cannot smile at Kylie.
02:58She cannot look at Kylie.
02:59And then if Kylie comes around her, she is supposed to quote unquote disappear.
03:03So again, more alleged retaliation.
03:06No word about if Kylie saw the letter,
03:09if the supervisors caught it and kept it out of Kylie's hands,
03:13or if Kylie saw that and gave it back to the supervisors.
03:15That's still very much unclear because I think that the housekeeper doesn't know
03:19if it ever got into Kylie's hands.
03:20So she's very much making these allegations against the supervisor specifically,
03:24but is also blaming Kylie for not stepping in and having her back.
03:28Meanwhile, Kylie's at the Knicks game with Timothee Chalamet.
03:31I don't even know if Kylie knows that any of this was coming towards her way.
03:33Yeah.
03:33You know, when you're a makeup mogul like Kylie Jenner,
03:36she has billionaire status.
03:38She has a staff of many, many people.
03:40And clearly there's a lot of drama going on.
03:43When I read your piece, I was kind of shocked.
03:44I said, wait, I'm having deja vu.
03:46Is this the second housekeeper to file a lawsuit against Kylie Jenner and the company?
03:51This is correct.
03:52So the first housekeeper, her name was Angelica Vasquez.
03:55She's actually being represented by the same lawyer that the other house.
03:58So both housekeepers have the same legal representation.
04:00And she is claiming something similar, which she was treated very poorly by the management.
04:06They actually each cited the same supervisor's name.
04:08So there seems to be a lot of cross reference between these two stories.
04:12And like I said, they have the same legal representation.
04:14But she claimed that she was harassed and also picked on for her accent, her race, all of that.
04:19And also I saw in her religion, being Catholic, there were certain holidays she wanted off for
04:24and wasn't getting it or something like that.
04:26Yeah, a big thing and a big overlap in both of their stories was anytime they asked for days off,
04:31they were not given to it.
04:32Specifically in the latest, Juana's lawsuit, the second most recent lawsuit,
04:36she had asked off for her brother's death.
04:39She said that her brother died suddenly and she had asked off and they basically were like, nope.
04:44And she also alleges that she overheard when she was working in the house
04:47that some of the supervisors allegedly were whispering about if she was lying about her brother's death.
04:53When she went to them asking off for the brother's funeral mass, they said no.
04:57So again, these are all allegations that are being brought upon the supervisors in the building, in the household.
05:04This is not Kylie's doing, but Kylie's being blamed by her former housekeepers
05:08for not stepping in and for not being aware and for not protecting them.
05:12And either way, it's just not a good look.
05:14When these messy details come to light, I mean, you hear about a maid not being able to
05:18make her birthday party that turns out it's a surprise party that she misses.
05:21It just breaks your heart.
05:23So whether or not there's punitive damages owed or lost wages that will be paid back,
05:30that's up for the lawyers to decide.
05:34But when you hear about these details with a celebrity's story, it really, I think,
05:39brings the famous person's name into the headline as well.
05:43And so whether or not Kylie Jenner knew about any of this is yet to be seen.
05:47Yeah, exactly.
05:48Kylie has not publicly responded to either lawsuit.
05:50We've reached out to her rep.
05:51We have not heard back.
05:52So it'll be interesting to see what kind of course of action she takes.
05:56I mean, obviously, she's been busy in New York rooting on the Knicks with her man.
05:58So it'll be interesting because for all we know, she didn't know that this was coming her way.
06:03And she kind of is caught up in the mess.
06:05But at the same time, you know, when you have that platform and you have that much power,
06:08you need to vet those people and make sure that they're treating people that are even below them in the
06:12system
06:13with, you know, respect and kindness and not with, you know, harassment and all of these allegations that they're making.
06:18Right. I mean, when you have a mansion, it's not just your home.
06:22It's also a workplace and has to be treated as such.
06:25Well, thanks so much, Eric, for the story and for more on this developing story
