00:22You've got to trust your instinct
00:28And let go of regrets
00:33You've got to bet on yourself now, star
00:39Cause that's your best bet
00:41Punch me now with a wicked and wild and I say
00:43Come with a funky style that gets us known for the show
00:45And we'll fix a hip hop break if we say it is so
00:48Fuck the naysayers cause they don't mean a thing
00:51Cause this is what star we bring
00:53Now it's morning but life's not on my mind
00:55I need to get off my chest
00:58And no matter what may come to shine
01:01The dream will always be high
01:04All mixed up, you don't know what to do
01:06They say you turn around and find a person it's you
01:09Thought a freak might be the thing but the first could be the last
01:11So just get off of your ass
01:14All mixed up, you don't know what to do
01:17They say you turn around and find a person it's you
01:19Thought a freak might be the thing but you know this will pass
01:22So just get off of your ass
01:24Here we are in Wichita making the set list for tonight
01:29Use my good eye with that one, alright?
01:32Woohoo!
01:33What kind of choice is that?
01:35Hello?
01:37Ha!
01:39Ha!
01:41Ha!
01:41Ha!
01:44Ha!
01:50Ha!
01:53Ha!
02:12Ha!
02:14Ha!
02:20Ha!
02:21My cousin, Michelle's kid, Max
02:26Did this for me
02:29It's pretty snazzy
02:31And this is John Scofield, this is our
02:34Yeah
02:35Our God
02:36So I'm gonna take a picture of both of them
02:40Cause you know they say take a picture, it lasts fucking a lot longer
02:54It's cool to go back in time with the instrument or to be able to do that like the guitarists
03:03do with acoustic, the bass, the grandfather of the bass is the upright of course.
03:09I've taken lessons for the last year, didn't take too many, I took close to a half a year's
03:17worth of lessons, I love it so much.
03:22Some of these songs like sometimes Jack's Rule the Realm has so many overdubs of like
03:29mandolin and piano, taking the files off of the Pro Tools session and giving them to Matt,
03:35Hunter, our drum tech slash sample guy so he can trigger those samples to happen at the
03:43right time, fill out the parts.
04:08It's like a palladium in the middle of the Midwest.
04:16It doesn't get any easier, I'll tell you that much.
04:19Must hydrate before 3-11 day, days before, not day of, doesn't help you out.
04:26Talking about a chugging regimen.
04:29It's 3-10 so we are going first of mini plugs for 3-11 day.
04:42It's 106.7 The End, New Orleans New Rock, what's up, it's Jason Gintze and well look who's
04:47here.
04:48We've got 3-11 day tomorrow and these guys couldn't look more excited about it.
04:53Obviously, as you can tell.
04:55Peanut and Nick from 3-11, welcome.
04:57What's going on?
04:58We're just shooting for 3 hours and 11 minutes just because that's more than double our normal
05:03show and when it's such a high energy experience that our normal show is, that's about all that
05:08people can hack so we're not trying to break records in time, we're trying to make it the
05:14best 3-11 show to date.
05:16And I've been hearing some things, people have been calling me up, hey man, what are they
05:19going to play?
05:19What are they going to do?
05:20And I said, well I've heard there's going to be some rarity, some strange stuff you haven't
05:23heard in a long time, some stuff they've never played live.
05:25Is that what we can expect tomorrow night?
05:26That's true.
05:27Exactly.
05:28So you guys look at your fingertips tonight and go, I'm going to miss you after tomorrow.
05:31Look at that.
05:33Oh jeez.
05:34You've got some rough looking hands already.
05:36My hands are falling apart at this point.
05:38You guys have known each other forever from what I've heard.
05:42High school, you've known each other and got together right after that.
05:44You guys hook up and then you went to L.A. in like 88.
05:47I read this on your bio.
05:49I went there by myself in 88 and then came back at 90 and hooked up with what is now
05:543-11.
05:55Gotcha.
05:56And when you went there in 88, now I don't know what your sound was in 88, but in 88
06:01the
06:01music style from what you guys are and what like the metal that was happening at L.A.
06:05That was the problem.
06:06Well that was the problem.
06:07There was two cool bands, three cool bands in L.A., Chili Peppers, Fishbone and Jane's.
06:14I thought you were going to say Motley Crue Poison and Warren.
06:17And that was like my whole mission in life was to go and check out those bands and I met
06:22them and I worked at Guitar Center and sold instruments to these people and it was like,
06:29I don't know.
06:29But basically the clubs were still into big hair metal and there wasn't, you know, none
06:37of those bands had blew up at that point and no one was really looking to sign, you know,
06:42hybrid music, you know, Chili Pepper style, that type of thing.
06:47They really opened the door for a lot of bands and you know, so it took us a while to,
06:54the
06:55first, those first couple of years were pretty frustrating.
06:58I bet.
06:59But that's why when we started in Omaha, the Omaha people were just so open minded to any
07:06style of music.
07:07We just built up such a huge following very quickly and were able to sell a lot of CDs
07:11on our own.
07:12And then we were able to tell the labels, hey, we've already sold this many CDs on our own.
07:19Just think of what we could do on your label.
07:21Right.
07:22And we got signed in 92.
07:24You filming the show tomorrow?
07:25Absolutely.
07:26Attendance means that you don't mind being filmed.
07:29Perfect.
07:29That's a, it's a, like a mental wiener, waiver.
07:33Wiener.
07:34Almost a wiener.
07:35Impossible.
07:35Hey, what's up?
07:36This is Nick.
07:37Hi, I'm Peanut.
07:38And we are in 311.
07:40Happy 311 day from New Orleans, New Rock 1067.
07:43The end.
07:45The end.
07:45That's the end.
07:46Now we're going into our fan cocktail party.
07:50There's been winners from 12 stations around the country that have flown in and we're having
07:55a big meet and greet slash cocktail party, take pictures, have drinks, sign things, and
08:04all part of the 310, part of the 311 celebration.
08:08Here we go.
08:10Along the way to close my eyes.
08:15I lost where I was going.
08:18The Lord will spend all that I try.
08:23You start my mind blowing away, away.
08:29Hi, I'm Peanut and there's lots of background 311 noise.
08:32I'm here interviewing some of the...
08:35I said noise.
08:36I'm in the band.
08:37I'm here with Chad Saxon, the drummer at 311.
08:40Can I ask you?
08:41I want to ask you, I've obviously listened to the Blue Album very much, you know, a lot
08:46since I've been growing up.
08:47I wanted to know, how did you get your cymbals so dark sounding, so deep, bassy sounding?
08:58They're like a crash mini gong, kind of.
09:01That's what I call them.
09:02Because they're so dark and they're not...
09:04They don't have instant attack.
09:06It's not going to be like, but it's going to be like...
09:09How was the flight?
09:11A little scary.
09:12Yeah.
09:15A little choppy.
09:16I'd like to say something.
09:18How come he doesn't get tired from jumping around so much?
09:20We won a contest from the radio station in West Palm Beach.
09:23We just called in and I was caller 10.
09:26You had three cell phones trying to call you?
09:28Yeah.
09:28Actually we had five cell phones.
09:30We worked for the radio station.
09:32We worked for the radio station.
09:33Oh yeah.
09:33We made one guy do a 311 stash-stash.
09:36He had to go around the city and get things that were legal, types of a bowl, grass, a pipe.
09:45What's up 311 from Cincinnati?
09:47Some of these folks from out of town get to come here and experience New Orleans, like
09:52every American should.
09:53That's how it has to be.
10:00The songs I sing, they don't mean a thing if you're my dad to hear it.
10:10I'm Brady from Iowa.
10:12It took us about 14 hours to get down here to see the kickest-ass band in the world.
10:16311 fucking rules.
10:20Yep, that's right.
10:21Biatch!
10:22embarrass!
10:27The best man in the world right now!
10:30You got any good stories?
10:31What do you got?
10:32What?
10:32You got any good stories?
10:34Oh yeah!
10:35311 best man in the world.
10:37Ow!
10:38Fuck the bullsh** and it's time to throw down!
11:06You guys don't know how much you mean, there's a lot of people out there.
11:10You mean a lot to a lot of people and we appreciate, we appreciate what you're doing and keep it
11:15up and don't stop, ever, ever.
11:18Tim Mahoney, I started playing the guitar because of you. That's gotta mean something man, you're good, alright.
11:40I went to Detroit to see 311 for the 11th time.
11:4211th time?
11:43Yeah, I've seen them 11th time.
11:45And we flew into a fucking price corner to see them.
11:49What do you have to say to the band?
11:50To see the band that they're fucking awesome and we flew a thousand miles to see them.
11:54All I have to say is thank you. Yeah, thank you is right.
12:09I'm playing guitar, I'm watching the lake team, getting ready to do a rehearsal here.
12:14It tears my heart.
12:20That's a trap.

19:40Damn!
19:42Feels so good!
20:03Well, everybody got a pen out loud, not bending, I spend my time, giving it many together.
20:08It's a question of whether leopards is here.
20:11Well, I give you not a choice, a path you must be our critic.
20:14Difficult is levity, so related, as we get the prism of a Nobel laureate.
20:18I'm down for days of court, it's eating you through when you're up with second and arithmetic genius.
20:24You know I don't grow, I blow in this circumstance.
20:27You'll get your chance to be gone, said.
20:30Hey, that's a motherfucking mission.
20:32Took the park, no way, I took the ship of a rock, I'm no-riding, I'm lost to vision.
20:36Send me you a force, send me you up.
20:38And those who are up, they say, taught me everything I know, I go on.
20:42So sick and weird, go to that gym, it's a jam, bullshit!
20:45In the face!
20:49Feels so good!
20:51Put the kids in your place!
20:55That's right!
20:57Feels so good!
21:00Think you won't throw down, S.A.
21:01Say I thought you'd cross, see me you're looking out.
21:03In the dorm room, no time to doubt.
21:05This is what I think, but I'll be rhyming.
21:07And you're sticking in the car, then you're flying.
21:09You're doing it, I think you're rocking my mind.
21:12Licking all the shit in that head spot.
21:14Losing the jasping, the groove of that.
21:16Great thing to do, just like that.
21:17Don't hop and rock, you've got to point it.
21:19Don't hold the punch, you know I'm coming in.
21:21Style we style on the rock, the flash sale shop is in my mind.
21:25I'd get a baton, yeah, now the eye's on.
21:27If you know a condition which to keep you close, you gotta like calm.
21:30But, you know my scene?
21:32Monty thinks this ain't supreme, but you're the weasel.
21:35We try to make it down when reality makes you look like a clown too bad.
21:38Cause you'll be sitting in the tonnage of a rocky ass bathroom.
21:41In your face, feel so good.
21:48In your face, feel so good.
21:56Peanut, beat that thing.
22:06One.
22:06One to one.
22:28This is how we feel it hard to feel
22:31Just take a moment to smoke our joint
22:35Once in a while
22:38You know, you know
22:40We do it daily and like it
22:43But then I'll stop
22:44If we go wrong
22:47In your face
22:49And down your throat
22:51Feels so good
22:54Just right
22:55In your face
22:57And down your throat
22:59Feels so good
23:04Yeah
23:35My name is Volatile
23:38I've been this way a long while
23:40I'd truly like to rest
23:43With energy gets the best of me
23:45And it's been a wild ride
23:48I wouldn't change a minute
23:50I can't slow down inside
23:53Guess that's what I live in
24:18Watch it
24:20Miss Jim
24:23Followed by weeks of thrill
24:28I land on Earth's hot flames
24:31No lakes could keep that place
24:34It's true for rest I sinned
24:38Ah, is there ever a time
24:43When the state of sleeping willingly leaves my mind
24:49I live in the state of living may check
24:51Come on, they're born
24:52We built your nature
24:53It's illegal and become the war
24:56Because after these were late to drown
24:59I'm not used to it
25:01You should think I'd be by now
25:04Because the earth is the earth
25:06The earth is the earth
25:07And the seas
25:08What else
25:09I wanna make a mess
25:11I wanna blow our stress
25:14I wanna stove the fire
25:16Cause creatures for a while
25:19I wanna make a mess
25:21I wanna blow our stress
25:24I wanna stove the fire
25:26Just creatures, just creatures
25:29Comes and goes and comes and goes
25:31Sometimes
25:32I'm going a little crazy
25:35Sometimes
25:38I'm going a little crazy
25:40Just like you I do
25:43I know what you were gonna say
25:48But were afraid to cause dismay
25:54Your lyrics switched around
25:56The mixture watered down
25:59Now a pointless display
26:03But
26:04Something
26:06One won't understand
26:09Unless they're
26:10Ended with me
26:13Here and
26:14And
26:15The things you love
26:18You always keep me around
26:20Carry on and you won't be withdrawn
26:22Even if you're coming down
26:24Sometimes
26:26It's wearable
26:27Sometimes
26:28It's wearable
26:30Like a reek to wood
26:32Now
26:32Let's tell the class
26:34It's full
26:35I wanna make a mess
26:37I wanna blow our stress
26:40I wanna stoke the fire
26:42Just creatures
26:44For a while
26:45I wanna make a mess
26:48I wanna blow our stress
26:50I wanna stoke the fire
26:52Just creatures
26:54Just creatures
26:55Comes and goes
26:56Comes and goes
26:57Comes and goes
26:57Sometimes
27:00Sometimes
27:02I get a little happy
27:03Sometimes
27:06I go home
27:10Sometimes
27:16I go a little crazy
27:19Just like you
27:24Just like you
27:27I go a little a Pero a Crazy
27:30Sometimes
27:32I go a little Crazy
27:33Just like you
27:34I do
27:35Sometimes
28:04We're five minutes shy
28:07of five hours.
28:18Y'all are still on your feet.
28:23Big up.
28:29There's only one thing left to say.
28:34Fuck the bullshit, it's time
28:36to throw down.
28:40Fuck the bullshit, it's what it did
28:42to it is. Fuck it, 311.
28:44I just showed you what it did
28:46to it is. Fuck it, 311.
28:48Fuck the shit, it's what it did
28:49to it is.
28:52You know I'm
28:54petty. Yes, sure, I'm steady.
28:56My name's not Betty or Teddy, but
28:58Nick. And I'm a Jermakka, I'm
29:00a heretic. Yes, and I am from Nebraska.
29:02My god, I tell the fight, you can ask
29:04us. You know I never visit in Alaska.
29:06Come on, here in the oil world.
29:07Don't that drum kit cast, it should be
29:09careful. Good in the sea, because I see
29:11the sea walks pretty well.
29:13This one goes to all the birds that
29:14ground. Fuck the bullshit,
29:16it's time to throw it down.
29:18Fuck the bullshit, it's time to throw it down.
29:22Fuck the bullshit, it's time to throw it down.
29:26Fuck the bullshit, it's time to throw it down.
29:30Fuck the bullshit, it's time to throw it down.
29:31Hey Holmes, just fuck the bullshit,
29:32turn it down, fuse it, man.
29:34Take your time, go blind, so for fed,
29:35and words of wisdom that keep your
29:37busy, cause they're tired of playing,
29:39and they're tired of messing around.
