00:00Tennis is one of the favorite sports of screenwriters.
00:02It's Roland Garros, so we're going to talk about tennis and cinema.
00:06I make videos about movies and TV series, so subscribe.
00:08There are a huge number of films about tennis, and it's not because Hollywood loves the sport.
00:13But that's because tennis is a sport that is very easy to turn into a story.
00:17Unlike football and basketball, there are no teams.
00:20The player is alone; there is no one who can come to save him.
00:24When he loses, he is alone. When he wins, he is alone too.
00:27And that's exactly what many screenwriters are looking for.
00:29In the film Challengers, tennis becomes a psychological war between three characters.
00:34The match is ultimately just an extension of their relationship.
00:37In Borg vs McEnroe, sport is used to tell the story of the clash between two completely opposite personalities.
00:43Bjorn Borg's calm versus John McEnroe's anger.
00:46And even in Match Point, tennis is used as a metaphor for success, chance, and ambition.
00:51In reality, tennis has everything that cinema loves.
00:53A hero, an adversary, pressure, rivalries, sacrifices and a permanent confrontation.
00:59And perhaps that's why tennis is such an interesting sport for putting into practice...
01:03place of rivalries or tension.
