Welcome back to our vintage cinema archive, your ultimate digital space for premium restorations of golden age Hollywood, rare drive-in gems, and essential cult classics. Today, we venture deep into a isolated forest canyon for a groundbreaking landmark of Lovecraftian horror and visual effects history: the 1970 supernatural cult classic, Equinox.
Produced by Jack H. Harris and created by a team of legendary future visual effects masters—including multi-Oscar winner Dennis Muren, David Allen, and Jim Danforth—this atmospheric thriller begins when four young college students hike into a remote canyon to visit their geology professor. Upon arrival, they find his cabin completely destroyed and the professor mysteriously missing. Exploring the surrounding woods, they encounter a cackling, unhinged hermit who hands them an ancient, leather-bound book filled with mystical symbols and dark incantations. Unwittingly inspecting the tome, the students unlock an ancient dimensional doorway, unleashing a terrifying horde of stop-motion demons, giant winged beasts, and ape-like monsters into the forest. As night falls, the group is hunted by Asmodeus (Jack Woods), a sinister forest ranger who is secretly a powerful demon in human form, desperate to reclaim the book and rule the earth. Trapped in a nightmare landscape where reality bends around them, the surviving students must use the book's ancient rituals to banish the evil entities before they are consumed body and soul.
Featuring pioneering stop-motion creature effects, eerie location photography, and a special appearance by fantasy author Fritz Leiber, Equinox stands as a crucial creative blueprint for modern horror cinema. Our channel is fiercely dedicated to preserving historic film treasures, offering a curated library of vintage monster movies, rare B-movies, film noir thrillers, and retro adventures.

00:07:19you if you need us. Thanks, I won't be alone. How are you feeling, David?
00:07:41Uh, what's the cross for? To protect you from the curse?
00:08:07Dave, I've got something to show you.
00:08:34Ah! Hey! Get him off of me! Get him off!
00:08:49Here, this will make you feel better.
00:08:56I thought you said he was the quiet type.
00:08:59Yes, well, you never know.
00:09:06No, my kid, honey!
00:09:14All right. Thank you, nurse.
00:09:16Yes, sir.
00:09:18Oh, uh, here's the cross. Somehow I wound up with it.
00:09:24My cross!
00:09:28I hope I didn't mess up your therapy, Doc.
00:09:30We'll see. This is the tape I made the day after they brought David in.
00:09:34The one the cops had?
00:09:36That's right. This is a copy.
00:09:40June 18th. Initial interview with David Fielding.
00:09:44David, I am Dr. Johansen. Do you remember me?
00:09:54We met yesterday, down and receiving.
00:10:00Well, I'm not surprised if you don't.
00:10:03You were pretty upset.
00:10:05You kept insisting that someone was after you.
00:10:07You said they were going to kill you.
00:10:12Who are they, David?
00:10:15Now, we're all here to help you, David.
00:10:17We all want to help you.
00:10:19This gentleman is Detective Harrison.
00:10:22Hello, David.
00:10:25We can't help you if you won't let us, David.
00:10:28I think you're well enough to tell us about it.
00:10:31Why don't you try?
00:10:36I...
00:10:38All right.
00:10:41I'll try.
00:10:46I suppose I've got to tell someone.
00:10:55Even if they think I'm crazy.
00:10:59How did it start, David?
00:11:02Saturday.
00:11:04I got a call from Dr. Waterman.
00:11:07Who is Dr. Waterman?
00:11:10He was my geology professor.
00:11:13And why did he phone you?
00:11:15He wanted to see me right away.
00:11:18His mountain cabin.
00:11:20Something important.
00:11:22Jim Hudson was with me.
00:11:24I asked if he could come along.
00:11:27He said okay.
00:11:29I told him we'd be there the next afternoon.
00:11:31There were two girls with you, weren't there?
00:11:34Yeah.
00:11:35Jim's girlfriend, Vicki, had a picnic planned.
00:11:39They decided to keep it on.
00:11:42Didn't tell me till the last minute.
00:11:44Even had a blind date for me.
00:11:46So there was Jim and Vicki?
00:11:49And what was your blind date's name?
00:11:52Susan.
00:11:53Susan Turner.
00:11:55She was just down here from New York.
00:11:58I was worried the professor wouldn't like it.
00:12:01Why, David?
00:12:02Well, he sounded so strange.
00:12:06Kind of mysterious.
00:12:08And, well, nervous.
00:12:10Did you explain this to your friend?
00:12:13Yeah, I told Jim.
00:12:16He said the girls could wait in the car if necessary.
00:12:21Who took my car and drove into the mountains.
00:12:25Would you change that awful station, Susan?
00:12:29And in here's the shutter.
00:12:31Now, you press this button and it takes the picture.
00:12:34Last picnic you brought your camera and then forgot all about that.
00:12:36Now you probably forgot to load the camera.
00:12:39Uh-uh. No. Not this time.
00:12:40Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
00:13:11Uh-huh.
00:13:13You sure this is the right roll?
00:13:16Yeah. I think so.
00:13:27Looks like we took the wrong road.
00:13:29Maybe we didn't. We might have to walk to get there.
00:13:32Dr. Waterman's place is in the woods a little ways.
00:13:35Why don't we walk up there and see if we can get a Coke or something?
00:13:38Don't you think we ought to let Dave see Dr. Waterman?
00:13:40Since we don't know what his plans are?
00:13:42Water jugs in the car.
00:13:43What'd you put in it?
00:13:46Nothing.
00:13:47I thought you were supposed to put something in it.
00:13:49Well, I thought you were going to put something in it.
00:13:51Why was I supposed to? No, I don't believe it.
00:13:53Come on. We'll go see.
00:14:02Come on.
00:14:04It's very pretty up here.
00:14:07Yeah, great place for a picnic with nothing to drink.
00:14:11You know, with all these trees around here,
00:14:13seems like there should be a stream somewhere.
00:14:15There is. Near the cabin.
00:14:24Watch yourself.
00:14:30Oh, darn.
00:14:49Jim.
00:14:51Wow.
00:14:52What happened?
00:14:53Is that Dr. Waterman's cabin?
00:14:56Explosion. Stove. Or water heater, maybe.
00:14:59No. It's caved in, not blown out.
00:15:03Doesn't look like he was there when it happened.
00:15:05No sense of life.
00:15:08Think Uncle Waterman... Can I help you?
00:15:10Oh, hello. You the ranger here?
00:15:12That's right. Name's Asmodeus.
00:15:17You looking for someone?
00:15:19Yeah, Dr. Waterman.
00:15:22That was his cabin. What happened to it?
00:15:25I'm not sure.
00:15:27Could have been a boulder from up above.
00:15:30Have you seen Dr. Waterman?
00:15:32Are you friends of his?
00:15:35Yeah, we had an appointment today.
00:15:36He's not here. I haven't seen him.
00:15:41Anything I can do for you?
00:15:43No, thank you.
00:15:45We brought a picnic. I guess we'll have it and go back to town.
00:15:48Well, have fun.
00:15:52See you later.
00:15:54You'll probably find Dr. Waterman back in town.
00:15:57Right. Thank you.
00:16:02Where's Vicki?
00:16:16Hey, what do you do?
00:16:18Hey, tell me I don't see that.
00:16:21A castle?
00:16:22I asked you not to tell me that.
00:16:24Only been here once and I'm not sure it's the same area.
00:16:28But I sure never saw a herd of a castle.
00:16:30Far out.
00:16:32Looks like a picture on a travel folder.
00:16:34Yeah, for Transylvania.
00:16:37Let's go take a look at it.
00:16:39Yeah.
00:16:39How the heck do we get there?
00:16:41Well, we can hike over that way and take a look.
00:16:44Might be an entrance on the other side, but it's too far.
00:16:47This side's too steep for the girls to climb.
00:16:50Would like to get to it though. It might be where Dr. Waterman is.
00:16:53Well, it doesn't cost anything to try.
00:16:56Susan?
00:16:57I'm with you.
00:17:12This is the best way.
00:17:14See the road?
00:17:24Some picnic, huh?
00:17:29It came from in there, in the cave.
00:18:03What?
00:18:09What was that?
00:18:10What should I know?
00:18:13Anyone want to go in there?
00:18:15Well, it would like to.
00:18:16If we had some way to see.
00:18:18Have you got a flashlight in the car?
00:18:20No, I haven't.
00:18:23Matches.
00:18:25Matches.
00:18:25All right, we'll...
00:18:26We'll make some torches.
00:18:27Torches.
00:18:28All right.
00:18:53Hey, come here.
00:18:57Come on.
00:19:03Hey, babe.
00:19:04What do you got here?
00:19:06Well, look at this.
00:19:11What a pair of gunboats.
00:19:14You're our geologist, Dave.
00:19:16What do you think?
00:19:17Ever unearth anything like this?
00:19:19Heh.
00:19:20I think what we're about to unearth is a practical joker who plants phony footprints and makes weird noises in
00:19:26caves to put people on.
00:19:41Well, watch your step.
00:19:43There's a lot of junk in here.
00:19:45Yeah, there's something right here.
00:19:47Well, come on, dummy.
00:19:49That's why I gave you the torch so you wouldn't break your neck.
00:19:52Well, my eyes haven't adjusted yet.
00:19:55Just take your time.
00:20:36Jim?
00:20:38Jim?
00:20:40Jim?
00:20:41Jim!
00:20:44Dave?
00:20:50Jim?
00:20:53Jim?
00:20:59Jim!
00:21:01Jim?
00:21:02Jim where are you?
00:21:04Jim!
00:21:05Jim, where are you?
00:21:06This way, Jim.
00:21:07Down this way.
00:21:11Vicki, where are you?
00:21:14Oh! Oh, Jim, hurry!
00:21:18We're coming, Vicki! Stay where you are!
00:21:20You know you're getting farther away!
00:21:23Dead end. Turn back.
00:21:25This is the right one, Dave. To the left.
00:21:28Here, around this bin.
00:21:33Don't get too far in front of me, Jim.
00:21:40Oh, Jim! Jim!
00:21:52Jim!
00:21:52Mickey!
00:21:53Oh, Jim! Jim!
00:21:55You all right, babe?
00:21:56Who the heck are you?
00:21:57The book. If that's what you're after.
00:22:00We aren't looking for a book.
00:22:03You're here. You have to take it.
00:22:08Come on. Come on.
00:22:10Oh, is this weird?
00:22:11Oh, let's follow him.
00:22:13Oh, let's go.
00:22:41Come on. Come on. Here it is.
00:22:54The book. The real book. Now it's your book. Take it.
00:23:00Don't you want it back?
00:23:24Jim. Jim, there was a skeleton in there. Don't you think we're...
00:23:27A skeleton? What's this about a skeleton?
00:23:29I saw one in there, just before the old...
00:23:32What kind of skeleton? Human.
00:23:34Oh, come on. You didn't see a human skeleton. It was just...
00:23:37Don't tell me what I didn't see. It was right in front of me.
00:23:40In that torchlight? It was probably some animal or some rod.
00:23:44It was human.
00:23:45Well, we could go back and see. No, not this kid.
00:23:48No matches. Now, look. We'll tell somebody back in town about it.
00:23:52And let them take care of it, okay?
00:23:56Feeling better?
00:23:58Boy, I'd love to get this book open.
00:24:00Well, let's have the picnic and examine the book.
00:24:03Okay. You hungry?
00:24:04Frankly, I'm starved. But let's do find a more wholesome atmosphere.
00:24:09What?
00:24:09I can't believe that crazy old man has really been living in that cave.
00:24:13Yeah, it looked like it was.
00:24:15How do you suppose he exists in there?
00:24:17I doubt if we'll ever know.
00:24:21Well, I took care of the beverage.
00:24:24Fresh mountain stream water.
00:24:26And I just hope you can cook chicken.
00:24:30I'll have you know my chicken is of world renown.
00:24:33Voila.
00:24:35Saved by the Colonel. Look at this.
00:24:39Yeah. Must be that pioneer stock in your background.
00:24:44Oh.
00:24:48Lunchtime.
00:24:48No, I want to get this open first.
00:24:52I'm sure fighting that thing.
00:24:55The old man neglected to give us the key.
00:24:57Would you like to go back and ask him for it?
00:24:59Hmm.
00:25:00Here.
00:25:01Try this.
00:25:05Well, well, we brought a boy scout with us.
00:25:07Yes, we did.
00:25:13Wait.
00:25:14Now, wait.
00:25:14Now, bec...
00:25:15Now, wait a minute.
00:25:15You're gonna break the point off that thing.
00:25:17Let me do it.
00:25:18Okay?
00:25:19Here.
00:25:20Catch.
00:25:21Ah!
00:25:26All right.
00:25:42I think I got it.
00:25:47Pretty clever.
00:25:49No springs.
00:25:50Just two interlocking links.
00:25:51Okay, okay.
00:25:52Open it, Jim.
00:26:03What a stink.
00:26:05Where do you keep this thing?
00:26:06In a sewer?
00:26:06Smells more like rotten eggs.
00:26:08Sulfuric.
00:26:09Yeah.
00:26:10Hey, what's this?
00:26:15Well, what is it?
00:26:17Somebody's notes.
00:26:19Well, what's it say?
00:26:21Hmm.
00:26:21Unknown preservative.
00:26:23Talks about the excellent condition of the book.
00:26:25Couple of chemicals that might be involved.
00:26:28Very knowledgeable.
00:26:29Very scientific.
00:26:31So?
00:26:32So, if this is more the old man's put on,
00:26:35at least it's getting more interesting.
00:26:37Hey, I didn't make all the stuff for the ants.
00:26:40She didn't make all that for the ants.
00:26:43Okay.
00:26:44Be right there.
00:26:45If the smell of this book doesn't make me lose my appetite.
00:26:50Look at this character.
00:26:52Have a look.
00:26:53Yeah.
00:26:56Wow.
00:26:57This is some piece of literature.
00:26:59Only it's gonna be a little difficult to follow the story without a translation.
00:27:06Come on, you guys.
00:27:07Let's have our picnic and go see that castle.
00:27:09Lot more interesting than some smelly old book.
00:27:11Dear Hart, why don't you dummy up?
00:27:14She's right, Jim.
00:27:16We should try to find out where Dr. Waterman is.
00:27:18We can examine the book later.
00:27:20Okay.
00:27:20Okay.
00:27:29All right.
00:27:30Who made the potato salad?
00:27:32Joe's delicatessen?
00:27:33I made it myself.
00:27:35Then I'll stick with the chicken.
00:27:36Say, here's something I can read.
00:27:39Pretty well, anyway.
00:27:40It's in Latin.
00:27:43Nima?
00:27:46Forever glory, the and.
00:27:49Must mean and the.
00:27:52Power.
00:27:52The and.
00:27:54Kingdom.
00:27:55The is.
00:27:57Thou.
00:27:58Thine.
00:28:00Yeah?
00:28:01The is thine.
00:28:02Kingdom.
00:28:03The is thine.
00:28:04Hey, wait a minute.
00:28:06Don't read anymore.
00:28:07I know what that is.
00:28:09That's the Lord's prayer.
00:28:11Backwards.
00:28:18You know, I still keep thinking about that skeleton.
00:28:21Oh, boy.
00:28:22Well, it's nice you have something to occupy your mind.
00:28:26Heh heh.
00:28:29Come on, Dave.
00:28:38Hey.
00:28:39What happened?
00:28:40Dr. Wannerman.
00:28:41Sure?
00:28:42Yeah, I got a glimpse of him.
00:28:43He has the book.
00:28:44You stay here.
00:28:45Okay.
00:28:45Ahn.
00:28:47Ahn.
00:28:59Ahn.
00:29:01Yeah.
00:29:02Yeah.
00:29:04Yeah.
00:29:07Yeah.
00:29:12Up.
00:29:13Yeah, we're still there.
00:29:15Yeah, yeah.
00:29:15ever.
00:29:18Let's go.
00:29:56Dr. Waterman! Dr. Waterman! I'm sorry, I didn't meet.
00:30:03What happened?
00:30:05Must have had his head on a rock. I can't feel any...
00:30:07Jim, he's dead.
00:30:12I can't believe in him. It was just a fall.
00:30:17Dave, are you sure?
00:30:19Yes, yes, I'm sure. I've seen dead bodies before.
00:30:24Come on. Let's get him out of the water.
00:30:33We'll go back and tell the girls, and we'll go to the police and make a report.
00:30:53Let's get it.
00:31:07We'll go.
00:31:15Dave, listen, I know you and Dr. Waterman were close, but you can't blame yourself for his death.
00:31:29It was an accident.
00:31:34The way he ran from us, he did it himself.
00:31:36Now, it's not exactly... Where are you going?
00:31:49He's gone.
00:32:04This is the place. If he got up, there would have been footprints. It's as though he just disappeared.
00:32:12Yeah.
00:32:14If anyone else were here, we would have seen them, wouldn't we?
00:32:17I think so. Those footprints are our own.
00:32:22Dave, a minute ago, Dr. Waterman was lying here dead. And now he's gone.
00:32:29Flesh, bones, blood, all are gone, if he really was dead.
00:32:34Sulfuric acid. Can you smell the sulfur?
00:32:38Yeah, but what does that mean? He burned up in a bed of sulfur?
00:32:41Lose something?
00:32:44Hi there. Say, have you seen Dr. Waterman?
00:32:47Oh, I'm afraid not. I thought we agreed he was back in town.
00:32:51Well, he was just here and...
00:32:52Well, he was just here yesterday when he phoned. We wondered if you'd seen him since then.
00:32:56No. If he were around here, I think I'd know it. Did you have your picnic yet?
00:33:01Yeah, back there.
00:33:02Well, I'd like to ask you to leave the area like you found it, if you will.
00:33:05People camp and picnic around here, and they sometimes leave an awful mess.
00:33:09Yes, sir. We cleaned up.
00:33:10You never know we were there.
00:33:12By the way, in a cave back up that way, we ran into some weird old character in a book.
00:33:16Yeah, it was a weird old character right out of a book, like he said.
00:33:19He gave us quite a scare at first.
00:33:21Man, that cave. I should have warned you.
00:33:24Now, that place is really dangerous. You shouldn't go in there.
00:33:26Well, we're about ready to leave anyway.
00:33:28Well, there were some footprints. Really big. Like nothing you ever saw before.
00:33:33Like a monster or something.
00:33:35Monster.
00:33:37Well, there used to be a few brown bears around here.
00:33:39Maybe an occasional mountain lion, but I'm afraid we're fresh out of monsters.
00:33:42It was probably that crazy old man's idea of a joke.
00:33:45Well, maybe I'll just look in on your friend.
00:33:52See you later.
00:33:54Right.
00:34:03Oh, I forgot to ask him about the castle.
00:34:11What are you going to do now?
00:34:13I just want to think about it for a minute.
00:34:17Listen, if those guys start yakking with Dr. Waterman or somebody, we could still be here this time tomorrow.
00:34:22I think we ought to find them.
00:34:23Well, they might come back a different way and we could miss them.
00:34:26I'll stay here if you want to go ahead and find them.
00:34:29Okay, you hold the fort.
00:34:30I'll bring them right back by the ears.
00:34:33Okay, okay.
00:34:34I can understand not telling him about Dr. Waterman, but why shouldn't I have mentioned the book?
00:34:39It may be an important find. I just don't think we should advertise it.
00:34:43But what's a range you're going to do with an old book?
00:34:46Jim, I don't know. I just want to try and figure out this Dr. Waterman thing.
00:34:50Yeah, yeah. Well, the girls are going to be frantic and I think we ought to get back to them.
00:34:55All right, let's go.
00:35:03Hey, listen, man. This thing is getting pretty far out.
00:35:06Do you think Dr. Waterman was sick or anything?
00:35:10I don't know of any chronic condition Dr. Waterman might have had that could have put him in a catatonic
00:35:14coma like that to make him appear dead.
00:35:16That kind of stuff is out of my league.
00:35:19I wouldn't know a catatonic coma if it bit me.
00:35:23Have you thought of anybody back in town you could talk to?
00:35:25Do you know who this doctor is?
00:35:26No, but if we don't find him ourselves, we'll have to tell the police and they'll do all that.
00:36:06Oh, Mr. Asmodeus, you startled me.
00:36:11What are you doing?
00:36:18No, Mr. Asmodeus...
00:37:10ORGAN PLAYS
00:37:24ORGAN PLAYS
00:37:53ORGAN PLAYS
00:38:12ORGAN PLAYS
00:38:13ORGAN PLAYS
00:38:21Susan?
00:38:23Susan?
00:38:27Susan, are you all right?
00:38:28Oh, David.
00:38:29Yes, I'm fine.
00:38:31What happened?
00:38:31I don't know.
00:38:32I guess I just fell.
00:38:34Here, you better sit down.
00:38:37what's this oh my cross I guess I've broken the chain I'm all right really
00:38:45Susan something's happened something really strange we were chasing dr.
00:38:50Waterman and he fell and we thought he was dead we were gonna go back to town
00:38:55and call the police but I just couldn't leave him there and so we went back and
00:38:59he was gone gone but I don't know I don't have a single theory I've never known
00:39:06him to do anything strange like the way he took that book and ran it could be
00:39:14brain damage or mental disorder of some kind or maybe he was in that house when
00:39:23it was wrecked that's the only thing that could explain his behavior some mental
00:39:28aberration he might even be suffering from look it's here's dr. Waterman's
00:39:32name what I found this piece of paper in the book with his name on it
00:39:43well what does it say well listen to this it's dr. Waterman all right it's his
00:39:50notes about this book translation goes along smoothly then completely bogs down
00:39:58as the book indiscriminately changes languages I believe tests will prove
00:40:02the book to be a thousand years old not as old as the Dead Sea Scrolls evidently
00:40:08from the opposite camp absorbed in the difficult task of translation I was at
00:40:15first unaware of the meaning of this rare and unique text seems to be a very
00:40:21veritable Bible of evil witchcraft or demonism as it was practiced in the
00:40:27remote area of the Persian Gulf where the book was found from the time I first
00:40:34laid hands on the book I heard nothing but rumors and vague warnings of its danger
00:40:38all from the superstitious people of the area quite different than anything else I
00:40:49have seen it approaches the subject very methodically as an absolute as though its
00:40:56doctrines were widely practiced in its era and place
00:41:23I have also found the philosophy of the book to be fascinating considering its ancient orations
00:41:38origin the forces of good and evil coexist throughout the universe and in the minds of men the
00:41:44object of each force and its practitioners is to lessen or cancel as much as possible the
00:41:52effectiveness of the opposite force
00:42:04the adept demonologist held a position of high honor the practice of evil and destruction is put
00:42:12forward as a joy and reward in itself
00:42:26the practitioners of evil who compiled this book use symbols to counteract the
00:42:32effectiveness of good many combinations of symbols for both forces are listed
00:42:37however as the practitioner needed certain symbols of good to protect himself from the demons he
00:42:44brought forth and created manipulation of these symbols is treated exactly like the science of
00:42:51chemistry this element changes that one one symbol is a catalyst another is an agent or counteractant
00:42:58strangely enough in the list of symbols for good are some very familiar ones the cross and the
00:43:04double triangle star of david if made of certain metals are among them
00:43:13in actual practice of course the science of demonology is outlined in the book is much more complicated than I
00:43:19have indicated here
00:43:20which brings me to the point where I now stand in full scientific skepticism but with much personal curiosity I
00:43:29have set up and executed some experiments as
00:43:32diagrammed in the book in a nearby secluded area I followed to the best of my knowledge the
00:43:39instructions for some of the simpler manifestations the last of which produced fantastic results it worked I felt as
00:43:48though I had found the fabled touchstone I could see myself changing the entire structure of modern science more recently
00:43:56however I've come to feel that my
00:43:58experiments were somewhat premature of my knowledge on the subject there is instability I am unable to control what I
00:44:08have created
00:44:35there's another writing here that looks like a scrawl Pandora's box
00:44:44uh they are attracted to the book like flies no I can't read it
00:44:57it's pretty heavy stuff yeah well what do you make of it Dave I don't know unless we talk to
00:45:06Dr. Waterman we may never know

00:56:13What happened? Where is he?
00:56:16There. He's not moving.
00:56:18I think you killed him.
00:56:21Better go see.
00:56:48Oh, my God. Whose nightmare is that thing?
00:56:52That's a whole lifetime of nightmares.
00:56:56Dave, did you notice?
00:56:58One of the pictures in the book.
00:57:00It looks like this thing.
00:57:02Yeah, I wonder if that's one of Dr. Waterman's experiments that went haywire.
00:57:06That poor old man.
00:57:09Jim, that thing.
00:57:11Oh, it killed the old man from the cave.
00:57:13What?
00:57:14It was chasing him when we saw it.
00:57:17It caught him.
00:57:19Let's go.
00:57:20Let's get out of here.
00:57:21No, no.
00:57:22First, we have to take care of the old man's body.
00:57:25Then we'd better notify the authorities.
00:57:27Oh, can't we just tell that ranger and let him take care of it?
00:57:31Yeah, if we know where to find him, we don't even know where the station is.
00:57:34Yeah, and that ranger would try to tell us it was Smokey the Bear.
00:57:38They're going to sure think we're crazy when we tell them about this thing.
00:57:42My camera.
00:57:43I'll get it and take a picture.
00:57:45Here, good.
00:57:52Oh, darn.
00:58:05Jim, the hand.
00:58:06It moved.
00:58:09Must have been a reflex or something.
00:58:12It's dead, honey.
00:58:13We're safe.
00:58:42I'll go this way.
00:58:44Now, I'll take a picture and meet you later.
00:58:45I don't like all the splitting up.
00:58:47No, no, no, no.
00:58:47This is the quickest way.
00:58:49Now, you go with Davis, Sue, and see about that old man.
00:58:52And help take the picnic gear back to the car, hear?
00:58:54Boy, I knew he'd find a way to get out of all the work.
00:59:26Very, I knew he'd find a way to drive along.
00:59:27Boy, Suzie, point to me.
00:59:36Oh, my God.
01:01:19It was around here someplace, wasn't it?
01:01:21Yeah, it was right over there, I think.
01:01:25Yeah, I'd better go along.
01:01:33I just don't believe this day.
01:01:37You know, I keep thinking that pretty soon I'll wake up.
01:02:00No!
01:02:02Ah!
01:02:05Ah!
01:02:06Ah!
01:02:08Ah!
01:02:08Ah!
01:02:10Ah!
01:02:10Becky!
01:02:11What?
01:02:12She's gone crazy!
01:02:14She's an asshole!
01:02:32Ah!
01:02:50Hello?
01:02:55Anybody here?
01:03:11It's a shame, isn't it?
01:03:13I mean the way people mess up the countryside like that.
01:03:15Mr. Asmonius, I was just looking for you.
01:03:17Yeah, well, I was just looking for you too, kid.
01:03:19You people have the book, don't you?
01:03:21Whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:03:21You have the book and you're going to give it to me.
01:03:26If you knew what was in that book, you'd turn to jelly.
01:03:29It's not meant for worms like you.
01:03:32What did you think you were going to do with it?
01:03:34Sell it to a museum?
01:03:36Why didn't you tell me you had it?
01:03:38Ah!
01:03:38Damn!
01:03:39Heaven!
01:03:42All right.
01:03:44I underestimated you.
01:03:48Put it away.
01:03:49You're safe.
01:03:53Put it away.
01:04:02I gotta hand it to you, kid.
01:04:04Not many people could have come up with that.
01:04:06So we'll make a deal, huh?
01:04:09Let me tell you, I can make a deal like nobody you ever saw.
01:04:14Who are you?
01:04:14It's not who I am.
01:04:17It's what I can do.
01:04:19For you.
01:04:21What do you want?
01:04:22Anything in the world.
01:04:24Name it.
01:04:24Money.
01:04:26Prestige.
01:04:27Girls.
01:04:28You could have all the things you've ever dreamed of.
01:04:33You want proof?
01:04:36Well, let's see.
01:04:36There ought to be some proof walking around here somewhere.
01:04:39Or maybe you've seen him.
01:04:42My large simian friend, the 30-foot ape.
01:04:45I see you have.
01:04:49Let me tell you, kid.
01:04:50The supply is limitless.
01:04:52Now, if I can create creatures like that,
01:04:54you know if I can fulfill my promise.
01:04:58All you have to do is give me the book
01:05:01and discredit any story your friends tell back in town.
01:05:04And you can have anything in this world you want.
01:05:08Why is that book so important to you?
01:05:10Listen, kid.
01:05:11You've got some protection right now.
01:05:14But don't think that can save you.
01:05:16You've been lucky so far.
01:05:18But I haven't tried yet.
01:05:21So make up your mind.
01:05:23Which one of those girls is yours?
01:05:25The tall one?
01:05:27The other one.
01:05:28Well, I haven't got to her yet.
01:05:30But I will.
01:05:32You better think fast, kid.
01:05:34Take my offer or you and your friends are as good as dead.
01:05:41All the money you ever want, kid!
01:05:49It'll be all right.
01:05:51Susan, remember what Dr. Wunderman said in his notes?
01:05:53He said that good and evil coexist throughout the universe.
01:05:56And in everybody's mind.
01:05:59No.
01:06:00Not what was in my mind.
01:06:03Nobody has thoughts, feelings like that.
01:06:06Nobody human, anyway.
01:06:08Listen, what was done can be undone if you have the knowledge.
01:06:12And we have it.
01:06:13Or we will have with the book.
01:06:15That man.
01:06:17That whatever he is.
01:06:18How could he do a thing like this?
01:06:21Dave, I didn't even remember it until just now.
01:06:25Well, maybe that's a good sign.
01:06:28Oh, damn!
01:06:29Here, let me help you.
01:06:31Oh, it's no use.
01:06:33Let me just break.
01:06:35Where's Jim?
01:06:37We've got to get out of here!
01:06:38Take it easy, Vicki.
01:06:39Jim will be back.
01:06:40He has to come this way.
01:06:42Vicki, any one symbol or Susan's cross will protect the entire group from...
01:06:46from whatever.
01:06:47It's only when we separate that we're...
01:06:49Oh, yeah?
01:06:50Then why'd you spend all that time trying to find Susan's cross?
01:06:53You've got a symbol.
01:06:55Well, take my symbol.
01:06:56No.
01:06:57I don't know what I'm saying.
01:06:59Take care of Susan.
01:07:06Oh, Vicki, I'm so...
01:07:07Don't apologize again, Susan.
01:07:09Please.
01:07:10I'm all right.
01:07:12It wasn't your...
01:07:16Oh, God.
01:07:17I've got to find Jim.
01:07:19Vicki!
01:07:21Vicki, stop!
01:07:24Stop!
01:07:24We've got to stick together.
01:07:26If you run after Jim, we'll lose him.
01:07:28He'll be back this way.
01:07:29David, I'm so scared.
01:07:32We're gonna make it, Vicki.
01:07:34He'll be along.
01:07:36We'll be all right, Vicki.
01:07:38I'm sorry.
01:07:39Susan, I'm sorry.
01:07:41I didn't mean to make it worse for you.
01:07:42Here comes Jim.
01:07:43Oh, Jim!
01:07:44We've got to get out of here.
01:07:46Now.
01:07:46And leave that book.
01:07:47What?
01:07:48That Mr. Asmodeus.
01:07:49He was the one who made it.
01:07:50Yeah, yeah, we know.
01:07:50He's done something to Susan, but we're not leaving that book.
01:07:53We've got to.
01:07:54He says he'll kill us if we don't.
01:07:56He made the monster.
01:08:06Like it or not, we have a responsibility to ourselves, if no one else.
01:08:09What he did to Susan, well, with the book, she can be helped.
01:08:13But without it, it just...
01:08:14What did he do?
01:08:15Never mind that.
01:08:16Let's get the book and get out of here.
01:08:18Yes, but what if he comes back?
01:08:19We're gonna be...
01:08:20Look, if Asmodeus comes back, we...
01:08:23Asmodeus.
01:08:24I just remembered.
01:08:26Asmodeus is another name for the devil.
01:08:28The devil?
01:08:29I believe it.
01:08:30You should have seen him in action.
01:08:32Oh, my God.
01:08:33Go get the book and let's get out of here.
01:08:35Okay.
01:08:42Jim, look!
01:08:43Over there!
01:08:50Stay back here or out of the way.
01:09:12Jim, use your symbol.
01:09:14His back's to me.
01:09:16Mr. Asmodeus?
01:09:20Mr. Asmodeus, where are you?
01:09:25See, you can hear me.
01:09:27Oh!
01:09:28Oh!
01:09:31Oh!
01:09:32Oh!
01:09:32Oh!
01:09:33Oh!
01:09:33Oh!
01:09:33Oh!
01:09:34Oh!
01:09:39Oh!
01:09:41Oh!
01:09:41He disappeared!
01:09:43Oh, my God!
01:09:43He disappeared!
01:09:51Dad, what do we...
01:09:52Jim, stay here.
01:09:54I'm going through the barrier.
01:09:55See if I can help Jim.
01:09:57Don't give me two...
01:09:57Dave!
01:09:58Jim!
01:09:59Dave!
01:10:00Here, quick!
01:10:01The book!
01:10:04Grab me!
01:10:05Grab his arm!
01:10:06Hurry!
01:10:07No!
01:10:07No!
01:10:08No!
01:10:11Jim!
01:10:12Oh, Jim!
01:10:13You've got to get out of here, quick.
01:10:15Take the car and get help.
01:10:16No!
01:10:17He's right, Vicki.
01:10:18Come on.
01:10:44Come on.
01:10:51Hmm...
01:10:53Uh, hmm.

01:11:45Jim!
01:11:48Over here!
01:11:53Here, let me help you.
01:12:03Okay?
01:12:07Where'd the girls go?
01:12:08Well, they've... I sent them back to the car to go to the police or get help.
01:12:12With the book?
01:12:13Mm-hmm.
01:12:14Well, let's stop them.
01:12:15Jim?
01:12:17Hold it!
01:12:39Hold up. No use running. I forgot to give them the keys.
01:12:42Which one of them has the book?
01:12:44Susan, but...
01:12:45Which way is the car?
01:12:46Well, that way, but we...
01:12:47Good. We'll split up.
01:12:49No, I don't think we should.
01:12:50If you find them first, yell.
01:12:53Jim?
01:12:56Jim?
01:12:58You're not Jim, are you?
01:13:00What have you done to Jim?
01:13:08What are you?
01:13:10You are all such fools.
01:13:11You and your friend Waterman, who was handed the secrets of the powers of darkness and then didn't know what
01:13:16to do with them.
01:13:18That barrier is the result of his work.
01:13:23Huh. Now do you see how helpless you are? And now for those two girls.
01:13:30Ah!
01:13:35Ah!
01:13:37Ah!
01:13:39Ah!
01:13:40Ah!
01:13:40Ah!
01:13:40Ah!
01:13:41Ah!

01:15:49David!
01:15:51Ah!
01:15:57Susan?
01:16:10Susan, the cross.
01:16:11David?
01:16:17David?
01:16:29Susan, you okay?
01:16:32Come on!
01:16:35David!
01:16:37David!
01:16:37David, those feelings!
01:16:38Into the woods!
01:16:55Come on!
01:16:58You're right there, sir!
01:17:11David, David, those feelings are coming back.
01:17:14Hang on, Susan. We'll make it. We'll be all right.
01:17:18I've got the cross.
01:17:19If we can just get to the highway, we'll flag a car.
01:17:37Oh, David, my head.
01:17:44David. Oh, David.
01:18:09Come on.
01:18:45You will not escape in one year, and one day you will be dead.
01:19:07Oh, David.
01:19:43Oh, David.
01:20:04Is that the whole story, David?
01:20:07Yes, that's all of it.
01:20:09I'll have to take that cross with me, David. The crime lab wants it.
01:20:12No. No. No, you can't.
01:20:14You won't get it back.
01:20:15No. No, you can't take my cross.
01:20:17No, kill me.
01:20:20Did you hear anything usable for your newspaper story?
01:20:24Eh, I'm afraid not.
01:20:26What about the police?
01:20:28No, I was there first.
01:20:30I was in hopes something would happen.
01:20:32Something I could get a story out of.
01:20:33But this, it's a year old.
01:20:37So, what did you expect to happen?
01:20:40I don't know.
01:20:41But it's been exactly a year and a day since that made news.
01:20:45My editor wanted a follow-up.
01:20:49Well, then this is it.
01:20:51A year and a day.
01:20:52That's right.
01:20:53But it doesn't look like he's going to do anything.
01:20:55Oh, my cross!
01:20:58My cross!
01:21:02He's slinged out!
01:21:03Let me out!
01:21:04My cross!
01:21:08Let me go!
01:21:10Let me out!
01:21:11The killer is my cross!
01:21:14Thanks for your time, Doctor.
01:21:18My cross!
01:21:49Iook in my cross!
01:21:49I think you were good.
01:22:03My cross! Where is my cross? My cross!
