00:00When, after the French Revolution, Europe was passing through the Age of Enlightenment,
00:07then the philosophers of the time used to take great pleasure in quipping that the gods have feet of clay
00:18and that the temples are all in the skies and they don't even have pillars
00:28to bind them or root them to the earth.
00:32In other sense, your temples are all just wisps of imagination.
00:37They have no concrete base.
00:41Vedanta, on the other hand, has a very, very concrete base
00:45and that base is not speculative.
00:50That base is not dogmatic or doctrinal.
00:54That base is factual.
00:57You exist or do you not?
00:59In your eyes, you exist.
01:01This is where Vedanta starts from.
01:04First, I exist.
01:06Second, I am and I am not satisfied.
01:11Vedanta doesn't start off by saying,
01:14Oh, there is a holy god sitting somewhere in the skies and let's all worship him.
01:19Not that.
01:21You start from Aham.
01:23And you want to treat Aham.
01:25Aham is you.
01:27And in the process of treating Aham, you reach, you become, you find that you always were Brahma.
01:37But Brahma is not the objective, even though the entire thing is called Brahma Vidya.
01:43Brahma is not the objective.
01:46The objective is to heal your condition.
01:50That's the objective.
01:51Because Brahma you do not know of.
01:52How can Brahma be the objective?
01:54What do you know of in your day-to-day living?
01:57You know of your daily miseries.
02:00You know how pissed off you are at small things.
02:03This is what your daily experience comprises of, right?
02:06So that's where Vedanta starts from.
02:08So that's where Vedanta starts from.
