00:00In 1931, Europe breathes the smoke of a war that is not yet over.
00:06Spain, a kingdom wounded by centuries of glory and decline, is teetering.
00:11In the streets of Madrid, the people are clamoring for change.
00:14And somewhere, a prophet named Nostradamus had already foreseen this moment.
00:19not with clarity, but with symbols, with enigmas that only time would decipher.
00:25For forty years the iris will not appear. For forty years, every day it will be veiled.
00:30What is an iris to a prophet? Not a flower, but a symbol.
00:34The fleur-de-lis, the emblem of the Bourbons.
00:37And in 1931, Spain removed it from its coat of arms.
00:41Alfonso XIII, the last king of the dynasty, fled into exile.
00:46The second republic was born amidst the clamor of the masses.
00:49But Nostradamus spoke of a power vacuum that would last forty years.
00:53The parched land in drought will grow, and so it did.
00:57In 1930, the sky closed over Spain.
01:01The wells dried up. Hunger fueled discontent.
01:05A year later, the monarchy collapsed like a house of cards.
01:09But Nostradamus did not stop there.
01:11He looked further back to 1969.
01:14In July 1969, Franco designated Juan Carlos I as his heir.
01:21And great floods when it has been distinguished.
01:24That same month, two tsunamis struck the world.
01:27One in Portugal, and one in China.
01:29The floods were not just water.
01:32They were symbols of the Age of Aquarius.
01:34The end of a cycle.
01:35The return of the Bourbons.
01:37But not as kings, but as ghosts of a past.
01:40In his 1559 almanac, the prophet was more explicit.
01:45The country and kingdom of Spain will find itself in dire need due to discord, revolts, and violence.
01:52He wasn't talking about 1559.
01:54He was talking about 1936.
01:56Of the civil war that was to come.
01:59And of a river called Liris, which would flood the land.
02:02A real river, or a metaphor for the blood that would soon stain Spain.
02:06In Germania, various sects will be born, prophesied Nostradamus.
02:10And in 1933, a sect called Nazism was born.
02:14But the prophet did not limit himself to Germany.
02:17He saw three kingdoms united by fire and sword.
02:20Three regions, three dictators, three shadows over Europe.
02:24Mussolini, the Prince of Rome, and Hitler, the German.
02:27And Franco, the leader.
02:30Nostradamus called them equal in nature, although different in faith.
02:34Three men who worshipped power and dragged their people into darkness.
02:40German prince, on the golden throne.
02:42Hitler was not a king, but he ruled like one.
02:45And his throne was not of gold, but of blood.
02:50In his letter, Henry II, Nostradamus, warned.
02:54They will give the daughter to preserve the Christian church.
02:56The daughter, Spain.
02:58She will have two children, one faithful, one unfaithful, the republic and Francoism.
03:04Did Nostradamus see the future or did he just interpret the symbols?
03:08The truth is that Spain experienced what he had prophesied.
03:12Three dictators rose up as princes of darkness,
03:15united by a distorted faith and an insatiable thirst for power.
03:19But there's something more.
03:20In her letter she mentioned the barren lady, the republic, democracy,
03:25Or perhaps a prophecy, not yet fulfilled.
03:28Because if there's one thing quatrains teach us, it's that time is not linear, it's a circle.
03:33And what is the past today could be the future tomorrow.
03:38These texts are part of the fifth century of the book Prophetic Chronology, by Nostradamus.
