00:00Well, thank you very much.
00:01We've had already a good meeting.
00:03We're going to decide to do a little lunch.
00:05It wasn't scheduled, but we are going to do it on the fly
00:08because we have a tremendous chemistry together.
00:12The Prime Minister of Iraq has been amazing.
00:17He won an election that a lot of people didn't anticipate.
00:20Could be won by anybody else other than another person
00:22who was not, in my opinion, a good person.
00:26Not good for America.
00:28I don't think good for Iraq.
00:30And I played a role in, I mean, it was very important to me
00:34to have somebody get in there that can do the job and do it well.
00:38And we have a fantastic champion, a new champion.
00:40And he won the election very soundly, very conclusively.
00:46And he wasn't favored.
00:48But by the time they got to know him, he ended up winning.
00:51And he's going to be there for a long time.
00:53So I just want to say it's a great honor to have
00:56the Prime Minister of Iraq with us.
01:00He's been a great fighter and he's been a great fan of America.
01:05We will be discussing that a little bit with you.
01:08But they have tremendous oil reserves.
01:11They have tremendous potential wealth.
01:14And they have tremendous wealth, not only potential.
01:17But he's done a fair.
01:18In a short period of time, he's changed that country so much,
01:21especially toward their thinking about the United States.
01:25And we have partnerships.
01:27Chris was just saying we have tremendous oil partnerships
01:31all of a sudden being formed over the last short period of time.
01:34And I guess you're going to be announcing them this week or next week.
01:37But massive, among the largest.
01:41So they have done a fantastic job over the last short period of time.
01:47But they have a great leader, the new Prime Minister.
01:49He's a great leader.
01:50I think he's going to be there for a long period of time.
01:54And it's great to have you at the White House.
01:56Thank you very much.
01:57The President of the United States
01:58And he's a young man.
02:00He's young and he's handsome.
02:02Which I don't like.
02:03I'm not happy about it.
02:17The President of the United States
03:00He is a great soldier and also one of the most important ones in America and the United States.
03:07Iraq is a country of war, and there are many of them in the United States and it is a
03:11country that is a country that is a country that is a country.
03:14And in a very short period, we have to make a lot of progress and at least change the world's
03:22views of Iraq.
03:23As Chris said, there are a lot of trade-offs in terms of trade-offs that will be announced this
03:33week.
03:34You will be a great job, and you will be a great job during a long time.
03:39The President of the Secretary is also a great leader, and I think you will be able to do this
03:46for long time.
03:57Please, Mr. President.
03:59Thank you for the warm welcome by his Excellency President Trump.
04:10This is my first visit to the United States of America.
04:17This visit was not just like any visit, rather it's an announcement of economic partnership, where I talked to his
04:27Excellency.
04:30On the 30th of September, the U.S. forces will be out of Iraq, while U.S. companies will be
04:36inside Iraq.
04:41While the social relations is about like economy, it's not about like military relations.
04:48I will convey my greetings from the oldest civilization in the world to the biggest economic and technological heart in
04:59the world.
05:03My thanks to the President for the warm welcome.
05:07Good.
05:08Well, thank you very much.
05:12Thank you, Mr. President.
05:14Go ahead.
05:17Thank you, sir.
05:18Go ahead.
05:34Thank you, sir.
05:42The Press.
05:43Sir, is the military attack on Iran?
05:46Is this a strategy to bring them back to the table?
05:49Was it to parade and degrade them, so the regime will eventually move?
05:54Well, we don't think we need the military there anymore.
05:57You know, it's a very big operation.
06:00And what we do have is the oil companies are all going in now, and they're doing partnerships with Iraq,
06:07and they're getting along very well.
06:10The relationship is a whole big relationship where we don't need the military there.
06:13We're there to help them.
06:15We're there to protect them if need be, but we don't think that's going to be necessary.
06:19And their primary, I consider an opponent, they might have considered a friend, but I consider that an opponent was
06:26Iran, was a big burden on Iraq because they were the bully of the Middle East, as you know.
06:34And we were just talking about that, but they're not going to have that problem anymore because Iran has been
06:40very much destabilized.
06:43And really, their military power is just a tiny fraction of what it was just four months ago.
06:51So they're not going to have that problem.
06:52I think it's really, in a sense, it's given them freedom to do what they have to do.
06:57And I think that's one of the reasons that our oil companies are going in there at levels that have
07:02never been seen before.
07:03So.
07:04Mr. President, do you want to answer?
07:08Mr. President, thank you for your question.
07:12Mr. President, according to the program of the government, is to restrict the position of weapons to the state.
07:22And this is a basic point.
07:27And this is like a decision. It's not an option.
07:29Mr. President, we received weapons by different factions.
07:36And he whoever surrendered his weapon.
07:39Mr. President, turned into like a political or civilian.
07:43Mr. President, we will cooperate with them.
07:46Mr. President, after the 30th of September, there's no any need for the presence of any faction.
07:54Mr. President, as factions, is a need. It's not a profession.
07:59Mr. President, there's no any justification for their existence after the 30th of September.
08:05Mr. President, so hopefully by the end of this year or by the beginning of the next year,
08:11Mr. President, we will announce the sovereignty conference. It's the biggest conference in the region.
08:18Mr. President, that the Iraqi decision is by the hand of the Iraqis only.
08:22Mr. President, and our security forces are capable of protecting their borders.
08:28Mr. President, after the 30th of September, we will never accept for any entity to carry weapons outside the control
08:37of the state.
08:38Mr. President, thank you. Thank you, President Trump.
08:43Mr. President, I have two questions.
08:44I was wondering if you could explain your changing thinking on the strait for moves applying a 20% B.
08:50How did you get to the decision you just announced?
08:52Mr. President, so when I put that out yesterday, as we've been doing that for many, many years,
08:57it was never fair to me that we would be guarding the strait when we basically don't take anything.
09:02We don't need the oil at all.
09:05And it wasn't important for us, but it was important for allies.
09:07It was important for people that we get along with very well, including the major Gulf state countries.
09:15So I put it out yesterday. I thought it was good.
09:17I was called by different people, different countries.
09:20Kings and Amirs and all of the people that we all know and we all love.
09:26And they've been, frankly, they've been very strong partners.
09:30And they said, we'd love to do it a different way.
09:32We'd love to invest in the United States with billions and billions of dollars.
09:37And continue our record setting because we would, there's never been a time like this with the United States,
09:43with the factories, with the plants, with everything else.
09:46And we would like to invest tremendously in the United States as opposed to charging a fee.
09:52And I like that actually because I don't think anybody should be able to charge a fee for the, for
09:57the straight or for any other straight relationship in terms of other sections of the world.
10:03I don't think anybody should be really in that position.
10:06But we were doing it as a reimbursement.
10:09The Gulf states are going to invest a tremendous amount of money into the United States.
10:14And that was very satisfactory to me.
10:17I think it's actually much better.
10:20I could also ask, are you aware of why the FBI is looking into Senator Graham's death?
10:26Have you gotten any updates on why they were at his home?
10:28Well, I don't know why, because I think, you know, he had a problem.
10:32His father had a very similar problem, as you know.
10:35It's very unique.
10:36At first I heard it was clogged arteries, because he did have clogged arteries.
10:40He had a problem with that.
10:42He was, I wish he took better care of himself.
10:46I say, you know, you can solve that problem.
10:49But what happened is actually something that's very hard to detect.
10:53It was not related to the, any blockage.
10:56It was a totally different thing.
10:58And supposedly, and I've watched all the medical reports.
11:02I've had the doctors from the White House come in and explain what happened.
11:05And this is something that is very, almost undetectable.
11:10And if it happens, there's not much you can do about it.
11:13It sounds unfortunate, but there's not much you can do about it.
11:17If you look at his, his father died of the same thing at about the same age.
11:24So there was not much.
11:25They say it's almost undetectable.
11:28You can detect it by, if you have a very bad back, that's a sign.
11:33It's a bad sign.
11:34So if anybody has a bad back, it's a pretty rough thing to think about.
11:40But the fact, that's one of the primary signs.
11:42And he would tell me he had a bad back.
11:44But little did anyone realize it was for that.
11:46So, and when that bursts, which it did, it burst.
11:50There's not much.
11:51So I don't see a lot of evil there.
11:52I know there's all sorts of conspiracy theories going along.
11:56And I don't think the FBI, I think the FBI is wasting their time if they're doing that yet.
12:01So, just on the prior question, the informal straight-pull idea for you, that's dead now.
12:08That's completely gone.
12:09No, I just told you, you have Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, you know, primarily, and then others.
12:20I spoke to all of them, and they would love to invest more money in the United States at record
12:27amounts.
12:27And that would be very acceptable.
12:29And this way, there's no fee.
12:31I don't like the concept of a fee.
12:33But at the same time, it's not fair that we're protecting this straight for the entire world, for China and
12:39everyone.
12:39I don't mind protecting it for China.
12:41I don't mind protecting it for anybody.
12:43But it's unfair that we're not in somehow compensated.
12:46And we've been doing this for many years.
12:48It's bothered me 25 years ago.
12:50It bothered me.
12:51During my first term, I was doing things like you have to invest in the United States.
12:57But by doing it that way, there's no fee.
12:59They're investing and they're getting a return on their money, and it's good.
13:02But they're going to be making massive investments into the United States.
13:08And I like that much better.
13:10Can I ask you a bit about the name of the U.S. today, whether you discussed OPEC?
13:16There's been some reporting that Iraq is pushing for changes to OPEC, a larger share, even that they might consider
13:22leaving.
13:23The gentleman right here, because here he is.
13:26Would you like to know about it?
13:27Are you considering, Mr. Prime Minister, leaving OPEC, or are you pushing for changes to OPEC?
13:31And Mr. President, would you support Iraq's pressing for changes?
13:36Well, I support him.
13:36You know, I supported him very early.
13:37And I endorsed him, something I rarely do.
13:40But I've had great successes endorsing.
13:43You know, we just had Colombia, which was a big one.
13:46Argentina was a big one.
13:47We had many.
13:48I've endorsed.
13:49I think everybody I've endorsed from a foreign standpoint.
13:54They just win.
13:55And, you know, I've been hearing great things.
13:57I'm a student of a lot of history.
14:00And I do know a lot about the history of Iraq.
14:03And I watched what was happening in Iraq with the elections.
14:06And I put a very strong endorsement out because I was very unhappy with the man that was supposed to
14:11win the election.
14:13And this great gentleman, I think he's going to end up being a great leader, he won.
14:17So I'm very happy about that.
14:19As far as OPEC, that's his decision.
14:21And you might ask him that question.
14:28We are one of the countries that established OPEC.
14:34However, we need like a fair share for Iraq.
14:39Iraq fought ISIS.
14:41And terrorism at all.
14:43In support of United States of America.
14:49This fight with ISIS.
14:52It would cost us like huge amounts of money.
14:56And destroyed the Iraqi infrastructure.
14:59The damage that really was against Iraq.
15:03Is more than 400 billion dollars.
15:08And until today, like some Iraqi cities are totally destroyed.
15:13And they're like living camps.
15:14I have a plan to get them back to their homes.
15:20We need a fair share.
15:24We need a fair share.
15:28Because if you remember, even though I was a civilian and had no thought of running for president, I get
15:35a disproportionate amount of publicity, as you probably heard.
15:38And I used to say, don't go into Iraq.
15:42Don't attack Iraq.
15:45Frankly, they attacked the wrong country.
15:47And they did a lot of damage.
15:50Yes.
15:52Given how the Iranians have been behaving, do you have any regrets about lifting the naval blockade or giving the
15:59sanctions waivers?
15:59No.
16:00I gave them a chance.
16:02I wanted to give them a chance at making a deal.
16:05You know, we had a deal two days ago.
16:07It was done.
16:07And then all of a sudden, they couldn't do it.
16:10They didn't like something about the deal.
16:11They couldn't do it.
16:12And they shot first.
16:14And that was a big mistake that they shot first because we have been knocking the hell out of them.
16:19They're very difficult people.
16:2147 years we put up with it.
16:23The SS call.
16:24You go back all the way.
16:26Thousands of people.
16:27Thousands of Americans were killed.
16:29A lot of soldiers were killed.
16:31A lot of soldiers are walking around or not walking around.
16:34I mean, they've been so badly injured.
16:36The arms, the legs, the face.
16:39With the Soleimani, with the bomb.
16:44They call it the roadside bomb.
16:46Most people call it the roadside bomb.
16:48It's a disaster.
16:50And I killed him in my first administration.
16:54Had I not, it might be a different story today.
16:57He was a mad genius.
17:00He was a mad, probably a mad man, but he was a general.
17:04And he had total control over the country.
17:05And I actually think the leaders of Iran were afraid of Soleimani.
17:10But I killed him.
17:11And, by the way, with him went a very bad person also.
17:16They happened to be meeting each other at the airport.
17:19And a very bad person from Iraq happened to be, a leader of Iraq happened to be killed in that
17:25same incident.
17:27So I don't know if I did you a favor or not.
17:28I've never asked you that question.
17:30You probably would know better than me.
17:31But no, I think that, I think that what we've done to Iran is we've taken away all of their,
17:38almost all of their military capabilities.
17:42Go ahead, you.
17:44Explain that.
17:46Explain that.
17:47All that?
17:48Yes, they hear that.
17:50Go ahead.
17:50Go ahead, Mir sermon.
17:51Go ahead, Mir President.
17:51Let's ask them.
17:53Superfeet security.
17:53Go ahead.
17:57Go ahead.
18:00Go ahead, arkadaşlarской psalte.
18:02Go ahead, Mir assimPol!
18:03Go ahead, Mir게요.
18:03Go ahead.
18:03Go ahead, Mir.
18:04Go ahead, Mir.
18:04Go ahead,
18:04go ahead.
18:04stay out of it.
18:05All that war?
18:06How did itsические can't even matter,
18:08How do we change anything?
18:11up there,
18:13we can't move ahead.
18:26At that time I was not in politics, in my visit like I'd like to talk about the future,
18:37but it's not like we are fed up with the past.
18:40Mr. President, thank you for your time.
18:51Last year in May, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan region, Maslur Barzani, signed about $110 billion
18:58in energy gels with U.S. companies here in Washington, D.C.
19:04Mr. President, if Baghdad and Erbil work together better, that investment could grow, grow, grow.
19:13What is your message and advice to the leaders in Baghdad and Erbil to work together?
19:20Why am I asking this question? Because you are a miracle makers, Mr. President.
19:25I love this question. It's my favorite question so far, by far.
19:30Thank you very much for the question. Look, Baghdad, I think, and I and this country,
19:36we're going to make some tremendous music together.
19:41We haven't been dealing very much over the last four or five years with the previous administration.
19:48Iraq has tremendous potential because of their oil and because of other things, but because of their oil.
19:55And we're going to be doing a lot of deals. We're going to create a lot of jobs for both
19:59countries.
20:00And we're going to be taking out a lot of oil. A lot of oil is coming out.
20:04And the American companies are doing it, mostly American companies now.
20:08They don't want to do business with others. They want to do business with America, and that's good.
20:12And that's one of the reasons that I felt so strongly that this was going to be a great Prime
20:16Minister.
20:17And I fought for that.
20:19Another question for the Prime Minister.
20:23How would you describe your relationship with Kurdistan Regional Government at this time?
20:28Because the Prime Minister yesterday had a statement and fully support you.
20:33How would you describe your relationship with Kurdistan Regional Government at this time?
20:40I look at Iraq as a body.
20:45And each part of Iraq is part of my own body.
20:51So I would never distinguish between two, any organ.
20:55And I cannot cut off any part of any organ from my own body.
21:01Kurdistan is such an important part of Iraq.
21:05Kurdistan is such an important part of Iraq.
21:07Kurdistan is more different than Basra and other provinces.
21:11But because such nice things were said about him, that means he likes the man that said those nice things.
21:20Go ahead, please.
21:22Thank you so much, Mr. President.
21:24I have a question for you, and I have a question for Prime Minister.
21:27Go ahead.
21:27The first question, Mr. Prime Minister, why did you choose the United States as your first strength operator?
21:35And what steps, concrete steps, do you take when you go back to Iraq to make sure that the agreements
21:40you are reaching in Washington, D.C. implement?
21:47I inherited such a heavy burden, country.
21:52I, as I have a master degree in finance, I analyzed the economic situation of the country.
22:02With this burden, I need such a strategic partner to really lift this burden.
22:08And the most important strategic partnership partner in the world is the United States of America.
22:15It wasn't just like any visit or came out of that.
22:18So it's not emotional, it's about mindset.
22:21Thank you for it, Al vị.
22:24Please, please.
22:27Inflation slowed to 3.5 percent.
22:28Yeah, thank you.
22:29Will this trend hold now that strikes on Iran?
22:31I think so.
22:32I think it's going to, inflation is down.
22:34We inherited the worst inflation in the history of our country.
22:37They say 48 years.
22:39It was the worst in the history of our country from Biden.
22:41Sleepy Joe.
22:42He might have been sleepy, but boy he could create inflation like nobody.
22:46And I inherited that and I got blamed for it. And it's not my fault. We are putting it to
22:52sleep. And we've done a great job, Scott and Howard and Marco and even Pete, because he's watching his dollars,
22:59right? But they've done a fantastic job. We've all done a fantastic job.
23:04So we had the worst inflation in history and the history of our country. I mean, we had months where
23:12it was nine and 10 percent. And now we have a report just came out. It was just released. Thank
23:18you for bringing it up. But the report was incredible. Inflation is way down. That means prices are coming way
23:24down and we're doing a great job.
23:28And remember that. Remember that to the midterms, I say to that camera. Remember that because nobody else could do
23:34it. Prices are way down. Prices are coming way down and we're going to bring them much lower yet.
23:40I think around the world and around the nation are anticipating your big announcement on Thursday night regarding election machines
23:47and integrity. Can you give us sort of a sneak peek about what to expect?
23:51Well, I'd rather say it will concern that subject and we'll have a couple of other things to say also.
23:56But I'd rather save it. But it's really big news. It's really, really big news. And our country has to
24:05shape up.
24:06But that's what we're going to be talking about Thursday is it doesn't get bigger because without free and fair
24:14elections, you don't have a country.
24:16We'll be discussing other things, too. But but it's going to be a very big announcement.
24:20Mr. President, you have an assertion pushed hard to shape your vast leadership.
24:26And tied U.S. support to disarming your on-backed factions. With the September 15th deadline weeks away, what happened
24:33in the Baghdad?
24:34This is it. And does the U.S. troops withdraw from Kurdistan region still proceed on schedule?
24:39I think everything's on schedule. We have a great here we are. I mean, we're right now.
24:43I even called for a lunch. It wasn't scheduled. OK, so in that way.
24:48But no, we usually we I don't think I've ever done that where we didn't have lunch. I said, let's
24:53have lunch.
24:54You know why? Because I like it. I like it. So I think I think that's all going to work
24:59out very well.
24:59Yeah. Well, I know that Lindsay wanted it very badly. I think they may be adding Iran to it.
25:09They're going to add Iran, which is a very big thing if they did that. They may add Hezbollah to
25:15just put them if you do business with Hezbollah.
25:17So we're looking at that. But they're seriously thinking. And this is in honor of Lindsay. This was his thing.
25:25He wanted this more than any other thing. You know, you know, he felt and there's a good chance that
25:30it gets done.
25:31But they'd like to add Iran and they'd like to add Hezbollah to it. That's what I'm hearing.
25:37And if that was the secondary sanctions on China, India, Europe.
25:40Well, we'll have to look. That hasn't been discussed.
25:46The Prime Minister, they say he has not campaigned to pay weapons held by militia under the control of the
25:54state. How does your administration support him to accomplish this vision?
25:58And my second question, how do you envision the future relations between Kurdistan region and Iraq?
26:04I think everything is going to work out. I think people are the Middle East, believe it or not, is
26:09coming together.
26:10We're getting rid of the bully of the Middle East. Iran was the bully of the Middle East.
26:15They bullied Iraq. They bullied every country. There were they there was fear all over the Middle East with other
26:22countries.
26:23I understand that. But there was fear. But there's no fear anymore because their military capability has been knocked to
26:29hell.
26:30And there's no fear. I think the Middle East is coming together like it's never come together before.
26:34You can't have a dominant factor like Iran that would kill 52,000 protesters.
26:40You know, they kill. Nobody likes talking about that. I don't like talking about it.
26:44They killed 52,000 protesters. So the bottom line, all regions, I believe, are coming together.
26:50And I think it's going to be this is going to be one of the great leaders right here.
26:54It's going to be one of the great leaders in the Middle East. Go ahead, please.
26:58Just explain that, please.
26:59I think it's going to be one of the great leaders in the Middle East.
27:45And I think I think we can go into this for a long time.
27:48And the bottom line is that we have a fantastic relationship with many countries now.
27:54We just had it. I just came back from NATO.
27:57I know many of you were there and you saw how that worked out.
27:59It was a phenomenal it was a love fest, to be honest.
28:03And they love the United States.
28:04They even like me, but they love the United States.
28:07And we're going to cut costs there by hundreds of billions of dollars, maybe.
28:12But the NATO event was incredible.
28:15Today's event is incredible.
28:16This is a potentially really great country.
28:20And many people would say it's a great country.
28:23We're helping it.
28:24We want to help it.
28:25We have a fantastic relationship with the new prime minister.
28:28He's a strong person.
28:30He's a very brilliant guy.
28:31He's very much acknowledged.
28:34Or he couldn't have won that election.
28:35That was a highly competitive election.
28:38And he went out and won.
28:40And it's a big story.
28:41I mean, it's a big, big story.
28:42And I just want to say that the United States has never done better.
28:47We're doing well.
28:48You know, more people are working today in the United States than at any time in history.
28:53We have more things being built.
28:54Factories, plants, AI, automobile plants are being built at record numbers.
29:01More than we've ever had ever before.
29:03The tariffs have done, have been used very judiciously and properly.
29:07And companies are pouring in, and countries are pouring into this country to build factories.
29:13Because when they build them, they have no tariffs.
29:16And we have numbers, $19.2 trillion.
29:20As an example, under Biden, it was less than $1 trillion for four years.
29:25We're at $19.2 trillion for 12 months.
29:29Nobody's ever said anything like it.
29:31Our relationship with Iraq is, I would say, it went from being not so good to being outstanding.
29:40And we're going to have a long-term relationship with Iraq.
29:42We're going to have a long-term relationship with a man that will be a great leader.
29:46You mark my words.
29:48I knew what I was doing.
29:50This man is going to be a great leader in the Middle East, beyond Iraq.
29:55His influence is going to spread all throughout the Middle East.
29:58And we're very happy about it.
30:00And we're very happy to have you with us.
30:02Thank you very much.
30:10I just want to, I don't think there's anything much else you can ask us.
30:14This is a very important meeting.
30:16It's something I've never done before.
30:18No lunch was scheduled.
30:20I said, let's have lunch.
30:21I've never done that before.
30:22Sometimes we'll have a lunch scheduled.
30:25But I've never done this.
30:26Right, Susie?
30:26This is a first.
30:28So I have no idea what we're going to be eating.
30:30But it'll be fine.
30:31But we're doing it because we like the people that we're with.
30:33Thank you very much.
30:37Thank you so much.
