Following widespread speculation regarding a second Formula 1 Grand Prix in Australia to replace cancelled rounds in the Middle East, official development timelines confirm that Albert Park is currently unable to host additional events.

While new garages are expected to be operational for the 2027 Australian Grand Prix, the event will rely on temporary hospitality and media structures until the full complex is completed in 2028.

00:00You've probably seen the rumors that say that Australia will host a second Formula One Grand Prix to replace the
00:06races that were cancelled in the Middle East.
00:08Well, I'm unfortunately here to burst your bubble.
00:11Melbourne is unfortunately out of the running and it has nothing to do with the FIA, the teams, the owners,
00:17the cars.
00:18It has to do with this.
00:19With the Middle East races cancelled, fans were begging for a replacement race.
00:24Was it going to be Japan? Was it going to be Malaysia or Thailand?
00:27Could it even have been Albert Park round two?
00:30Well, unfortunately not.
00:32Melbourne literally cannot step up.
00:35According to Development Victoria, the Albert Park pit building is being completely torn down and demolition starts on March 27th,
00:432026.
00:44They're tearing down all 14 garages, race control, the media centre and all of the hospitality suites.
00:50The government is spending millions to build a brand new facility that doubles as a community sporting hub with seven
00:56indoor courts.
00:57But here's the kicker.
00:58The building won't be finished until 2028 and being Victoria, expect the costs and the time to just blow out.
01:05In fact, things are going to be so tight for the scheduled 2027 Australian Grand Prix,
01:10they'll have to use a mix of temporary pop-up facilities just to get the race done.
01:14So even if the Formula One was desperate for a replacement track right now, even further ahead, Melbourne literally can't
01:20do it.
01:21So the moral of the story here is to just not believe everything you see and read online.
01:26They won't be racing Formula One cars across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Melbourne won't get a double header.
01:31In fact, with the current situation, all of the influencers that were sipping Moet in the hospitality suites this year
01:37might be doing it on the grass.
