00:08We met at the Met and Patrick was trying to woo me.
00:12I actually really liked him a lot and so what I did is I moved to Montreal.
00:18We lived in Montreal for five months. We periodically would come home and see my family.
00:22He really liked being in New York actually and so it was kind of convenient
00:24because I was going to go back to school and he could come with me
00:27and help me get settled back into New York and then the border guys, border folks,
00:34said to Patrick that he could only actually stay in the country for a couple days.
00:40It wouldn't feel right if he wasn't there so he stayed.
00:43The plan wasn't to get married but it also wasn't not to get married.
00:49I think that we knew that our relationship was going in the direction of forever
00:53but it sort of made us look at it a little bit differently all of a sudden.
00:57You know, we'd only really been together for a year basically.
01:01But we had to start making some real plans and so we did.
01:06The wedding day was exactly what you would never expect.
01:12Running late, City Hall closed at like 3.30.
01:18It was 3 o'clock and we were on our way down.
01:20My mother said, you guys have the paperwork, right?
01:22And we both forgot the paperwork.
01:24And so we had to turn around.
01:26She pulls up right out front.
01:27She says, go!
01:28And we just run.
01:29Give them all the paperwork and we're shaking.
01:30The woman says, where's your witness?
01:33And I said, oh, it's my mom.
01:34She's parking the car.
01:35She'll be here in a second.
01:36And the woman said, mm-mm, it's closing time.
01:39So I just turn around and I say, who here wants to be our witness?
01:43And Melinda's sent from heaven.
01:45Melinda, I don't know where you live, but if I ever meet you again, I'm going to name my firstborn
01:51after you.
01:52We got married.
01:52Melinda's there.
01:53My mom was there.
01:54There are like five pictures and it was really wonderful.
01:59Finally, we found the ring, which is, which is this, which is this ring.
02:04Every day when I look at it, it makes me feel like the most important person in the world.
02:08It's my little sparkly, shiny thing.
02:10I guess that's how married life feels.
02:12It kind of feels like all of this, you know, anxiety.
02:16Oh, what's it going to be like?
02:17And it's going to be perfect.
02:18You know, it's not going to be what I want it to be.
02:20And then the most beautiful part is, is when it's just simple.
02:25And, um, and when it's yours.
02:30What's for dinner?
02:34Burgers.
02:35Oh, cool.
