00:07I don't know my upbringing was good I had like good upbringing I think maybe the I think maybe
00:17the influence of my upbringing was to put me in a position where I could give a shit about
00:24something other than my fucking upbringing you know like parents dig it parents like ham nope no
00:33gay problems with the parents they seem to get it they seem to support what I'm doing so I'm free
00:41to stress out about other fucking things that is the definition of privilege I think I know there's
00:48a lot of talk about privilege but it's a it's a it's a really extreme privilege to just not have
00:52to give a shit about family struggles the way that ham sandwich like as a persona has progressed
01:03is to just become more and more like my normal self and in the initial stages there was a lot
01:09of pressure to like be something and you can see that when people are starting out too they want
01:14to just be something once that solidifies and once ham sandwich or whoever the fuck you are
01:19your drag identity solidifies then you just are it so you don't have to put any energy in and so
01:25I've
01:25actually taken energy out and you find that being dressed up carries a lot of the energy
01:32if you have big hair if you have big eyes if you're wearing a kind of ostentatious outfit you just
01:39sit
01:39back and fucking people pay attention there's no need to like do all this stuff so so for me
01:44the character is now just me but it's me with hair you know which changes everything
01:54this is not going to save the world this talent but it might entertain a few people
01:59it's generally kind of good natured and uh and not everybody can do it
02:07not everybody can do drag every gay person at this point thinks drag hey I could do that
02:12they all all gay people kind of feel uh not not necessarily entitled but just kind of
02:22that the idea has become so commonplace now that it's like hey fuck it I'll become a drag queen
02:26why not if everything else falls through all of my other lazy friends seem to be doing it so I
02:31don't
02:31see why I can't either some people they just look like a dude in a dress like a fucking monkey
02:35in a
02:35dress uh they'll never be drag queens or they'll never be good drag queens not that you no listen I
02:42don't want to say that a monkey in a dress can be a pretty good drag queen
03:01as a person I stand for freedom of expression the right to offend the right for controversial ideas
03:07is to meet in dialogue and for each side to refine their position and to do it all with a
03:12kind of
03:13sense of levity and a little bit of irony and a little bit of contempt and um I stand hopefully
03:21generally for fucking always being able to undercut yourself right at the moment when you're taking
03:27yourself too seriously I do not always succeed in doing that um but in the moments when I do not
03:33succeed at least I'll have a wig on my head and a goofy expression on my face sorry I flicked
03:41in the
03:41fucking hands
03:42you
03:44you
