00:17The first thing you need to know about bras is your size.
00:20Let's cut to the chase, straight out the gate.
00:23Either you hate bra fitting or you've never had it done before.
00:27There's actually an easy way to do it when you go into a department store and you're
00:29ready to buy a bra.
00:31Just ask the salesperson to help you or you can just buy a tape measure and do it at home.
00:36There's always this dread that you go on a cup size up or down.
00:40Or you're confused as to how you can be a 38C and a 36D at the same time.
00:46Here's some tips to know if your bra is fitting.
00:48You should wear your bra on the outermost hook, not the inner ones.
00:52Then, as your bra loosens, you should work your way into the inner hooks.
00:55The second thing you need to know about buying a bra is what kind of bra to buy.
01:00Hold up on style and focus on this.
01:02You need a lift or nah.
01:04Do you need a demi bra?
01:05Do you need a push up bra?
01:07Do you need a bra with full coverage?
01:09Cue the Playtex commercials.

01:14You can always ask those same people in department stores what bra would best suit your needs.
01:19Or sometimes it's just trial and error.
01:20Let me paint a picture for you.
01:23At some point while I was in high school, I thought I could get away without wearing
01:27that pesky underwire in my bra.
01:29I realized I was wrong when, bloop, my breasts would fall out from under it.
01:35Never.
01:36Again.
01:37The third thing you need to know about buying bras is the sports bra.
01:40And yes, it gets its own number because this may be the smartest bra ever made.
01:45There are typically two types of sports bras, a compression bra and an encapsulation bra.
01:49They're exactly how they sound.
01:51The compression bra keeps your boobs compressed to your chest for support, but the encapsulation
01:55bra is better for women with a larger cup size.
01:58It supports your breasts like a regular bra would.
02:01Typically, these aren't wired and are acceptable as a top piece of clothing when you're working
02:06out.
02:06Also, there are no clips and tags in the back making you itchy.
02:09Funny story about these little lifesavers.
02:12When I was just eight years old, a sports bra was the first bra I ever wore.
02:16And it saved me from being teased as one of the only girls in my class to develop early.
02:21They've come a long way.
02:22The fourth thing you need to know about buying bras is how many and how often do you need
02:26to buy them?
02:27Figuring out how often to buy a new bra depends on how often you actually wear them and how
02:31often you wash them.
02:32Wash your bra too often and it'll probably lose its shape.
02:35You should probably hand wash or gentle wash after every three wears or so.
02:39Having several of your everyday bras can actually make it a lot easier if you put them in rotation.
02:44A good rule of thumb is to replace your bras after every six months.
02:47Some of us may keep it a little too long and it's not pretty.
02:52The fifth and final thing you need to know about buying bras is that you don't really
02:56need to buy these breast traps if you really don't want to.
02:59So this may negate my entire perspective this entire time I've been telling you about buying
03:03bras.
03:03But really I'm just saying it's up to you.
03:06I mean I have four basic bras in rotation.
03:08Two demis and two push up.
03:10Demis for more comfortable t-shirt days and push ups for those crop top days.
03:14And I just wear them because they make me feel comfortable and supported.
03:17See, but if I didn't care where these babies landed, I'd just ditch it.
03:22And honestly bras are pretty expensive.
03:24So all the more reason to free the nipple.
03:27Hashtag free the nipple.
03:29But also you don't really have to spend a lot of money on bras.
