00:00Hi guys, I'm Pip and welcome to my sweet digs.
00:04If you haven't already, subscribe below and come on in.
00:10I live in a maisonette in a 60s tower block in Hoxton, which is in East London.
00:16I live here with my boyfriend Dan, he's actually from the area and he owns the flat.
00:22So I pay £400 towards the mortgage, which is a bargain for an area and a flat like this.
00:29So over here we have my living room.
00:31It houses quite a lot of my plants, which you can see I've got a lot of them.
00:35I got most of them from Columbia Road Flower Market, which is just across the road.
00:39The flower market makes Hoxton unique.
00:41On a Sunday it's so buzzy, there's people from all parts of the world here.
00:45They're like really London, like flower traders and they shout all kinds of funny stuff.
00:49I have a lot of mid-century furniture, it's one thing that I really love, but we try and
00:53mix it in with industrial pieces.
00:55This piece of furniture is actually probably the only piece of furniture that my boyfriend
01:00had in this flat.
01:02And I saw this and I thought, okay, you know, he's quite cool, at least he has a piece of
01:07mid-century furniture.
01:08Inside it, it houses all of the DVDs and the TV stuff that's so ugly and you can just put
01:14it away and hide it.
01:16This is the main focal point of our living room.
01:20It's a bookcase that we actually built out of scaffolding planks and it houses all of
01:25my little pots and plants and trinkets.
01:32We have this awesome balcony and look, we've got Canary Wharf over there and the Olympic
01:39Stadium.
01:40The whole of East London, it's just perfect on a day like today.
01:48We have the kitchen over here with the big breakfast bar.
01:52It's quite small, but it's open plan, which is nice.
01:55You can all hang out in one big space.
01:57There's a lot of good prep area to do the cooking and lay everything out.
02:02Obviously, we do all the cooking over there on the stove.
02:04I said stove, that's so American.
02:06Why did I say that?
02:08I just cook whatever I fancy, whatever they have in the organic shop.
02:12The thing is, we like to do it together.
02:14I like to control what's happening and Dan will help me.
02:18We live in a flat that is across two floors, which I think is quite cool.
02:22I think it's probably quite typical of a 60s building.
02:27So, follow me upstairs and I'll give you a little tour of it there.
02:31Our bedroom, it's yet to be decorated.
02:34It's actually my next task is to do this room.
02:36Dan has given me the theme of Miami Vice.
02:40So, millennial pinks, velvet headboard, very boudoir-y, lots of plants.
02:46And we're going to do a naughty gallery wall.
02:49We have a great piece by the Notes to Strangers.
02:52We've got one that's like, you can be a feminist but enjoy spanking, which is quite fun.
02:57One of my favorite things in this room is the record player.
03:01It doesn't work and I think it's going to cost a lot of money to get it fixed.
03:05But it really goes with the mid-century like, cheap vibe that I've got downstairs in the flat.
03:12These are mine and Dan's childhood toys.
03:14Ben Bunny and Foxy.
03:16They have now become best friends.
03:18He's my little thing that makes me feel safe at all times.
03:22And over this side, we have our office.
03:28I can work from home here.
03:30Dan makes jungle music.
03:33So this is all of his equipment.
03:34This piece is something that I bought Dan for his birthday.
03:39This is a jungle song.
03:41I have no knowledge of jungle, so I don't know.
03:45But he loves it and it makes him really happy and yeah.
03:48I love orange.
03:49It's the happiest color.
03:50It just makes you feel so good.
03:53Orange shirts, orange bags.
03:55I love this orange cushion.
03:57We bought this couch specifically because it was orange.
04:01We have a toilet and then this is the bathroom.
04:06So they're separated.
04:07The bathroom is actually the only room in the house that I really don't like.
04:12It's really small.
04:14There's no bath.
04:15There's no natural light.
04:16Eventually, we'll probably do it up and knock the wall through.
04:20But right now, there's nothing going on.
04:22So let's not spend any more time in here.
04:24And let's go and check out one of the other rooms.
04:26We've got our walking wardrobe.
04:29The most expensive thing that we have in the house is the wardrobe.
04:32I have everything hung on velvet hangers because you get more clothes in that way.
04:37But it does manage to house everything.
04:39On this side, we have Dan's trainer collection.
04:42He has 200 pairs.
04:44He loves them.
04:45He wears a different pair every day.
04:46We take all the photos for his Instagram.
04:49His trainer collection definitely dictated how the room was going to be designed.
04:55So we decided to go for an Ikea bookcase so that everything could be stacked and quite neat.
05:01I've actually put Dan on a one-in, one-out basis on the shoes.
05:07Whether he will stick to that, we will find out.
05:09It's kind of the same with me in clothes.
05:11I collect dagger collar shirts.
05:13So they're a specific shirt from the 1970s and they have really big pointed collars.
05:20I don't even look at the design, the color, the size.
05:22I look specifically at the collar and then I'll see if it fits me.
05:26I have this one.
05:27I think this one really has a kind of like Gucci vibe to it.
05:31I think this is the biggest collar I have.
05:33This is actually a smaller one.
05:35Got a green one.
05:37I've lived in this flat for about a year.
05:41Me and my partner have been together for a year and a half.
05:44And quite quickly after we got together, I moved in.
05:47Hoxton's great.
05:48There is a overground train, very close.
05:51There's lots of really cool cafes and coffee shops.
05:54The people are really nice and friendly and there's lots of cool shops.
05:58We're right close to Shoreditch, so lots of bars and stuff for a night out.
06:01Hoxton is like one of those places where there's people that have lived here forever,
06:05like my boyfriend Dan, or there's people from all over the world.
06:09It's just great.
06:10I think it's really important to have a place where you can come and kind of switch off from your
06:18day job.
06:18But I'm always so busy, so it's really nice to come here and chill out and relax at the end
06:23of the day
06:23and just switch off from all of that.
