00:01When I first heard of chin lipo, I thought, scary.
00:05I thought, maybe not for me.
00:07It's invasive.
00:08You do have to think about you're changing yourself forever.
00:16I'm Lindsay Pierce, and I'm getting chin lipo done today.
00:19I'm actually in my almost mid-30s, which, ee, it's hard to hear and say that.
00:24So now when I look back in pictures when I was, like, early 20s, 25,
00:28I look at that Lindsay, and I'm like, wow, where'd she go?
00:32I've been in beauty for about six years now, and I own a waxing studio.
00:37My day-to-day job, I'm actually professionally a lash artist.
00:40I'm an esthetician, but definitely looking down, focusing,
00:43so I can already feel the skin drooping.
00:46But then also because we're, you know, on our phones as well, too.
00:49With my job, I'm posting, I'm responding to emails, et cetera.
00:54So, yeah, everything that we do is downward, so we need to lift it up.
00:57I think every single aspect of my job lifts up others,
01:01and I think that's what makes it so fun and connective,
01:04is when somebody walks in, we take care of them from start to finish,
01:08and they leave feeling like a million bucks.
01:10You know, we live with a lot of things that you don't really like,
01:13and you just kind of, like, cope with it,
01:14but now I know that there's an option that I can change it,
01:17and so that's why I'm so happy where I can just not have to think about it anymore
01:20and just be myself.
01:23I'm Jubin Gabay.
01:25I'm a board-certified plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, California.
01:28I've been a board-certified plastic surgeon,
01:31and in practice for almost a decade in beautiful Beverly Hills,
01:34I focus on breast and body contouring on all sorts of patients.
01:39Chin Lipo's really just trending lately because of Zoom, because of our phones,
01:46because we're constantly looking down and people are realizing
01:49there's more looseness down in the bottom of the neck than they want,
01:52and now there's a really easy solution to take care of it.
01:57I really enjoyed working with Dr. Gabay in the past.
02:00You really do feel like you're in good hands.
02:02But that doesn't change that you're still going through a procedure,
02:06and so you really don't know what to expect.
02:08You're changing yourself forever, so there is some worry about how it's going to end up.
02:17To start the procedure, we give our patient a nice little bit of medication
02:23to keep her comfortable.
02:24We bring her to the operating room and gently cover her eyes
02:29to keep the fluid out of there, we don't want it dripping in her eyes,
02:34and keep her face clean.
02:35I will inject a couple of areas with local anesthetic
02:40to act as access points for all of my instruments to go underneath her skin.
02:46Once I've made the access points,
02:48I will put in the numbing medicine gently underneath her skin.
02:54Once I'm sure that her skin and everything is completely numb,
02:59she's super comfortable,
03:01I put what's called the cannula,
03:03the thin blunt metal tube underneath her skin,
03:07and I use a vibration component of the machine
03:12to get under her skin and just break everything up,
03:17loosen everything up so that we can suck out the fat perfectly.
03:21Once I've opened everything up underneath her skin,
03:25I turn on the suction on my liposuction machine
03:28and very carefully and thoroughly suck out the fat in that area.
03:33Once I'm done with the liposuction and fat removal,
03:37I put in the probe for the Renuvion device.
03:41This is a thin metal tube, same idea,
03:44but at the tip of this device,
03:47it puts out a thin little beam of helium plasma.
03:50That beam acts as actually a little conduit or a road
03:55to allow radio frequency energy to come from the device
03:59onto the undersurface of her skin
04:01and allow and cause the skin to shrink down and contract.
04:05I do that all over the area that we talked about.
04:09I think the best candidate for this procedure
04:12is certainly someone who has a little bit of fullness under the skin.
04:15And the interesting question is, what is that fullness from?
04:20Is it from too much fat?
04:22Well, that's where liposuction comes in.
04:23Or is it from loose skin?
04:25That's where Renuvion comes in.
04:28And then I remove the device.
04:31One last quick run of liposuction,
04:34both to remove any fat that may have been kicked up during the Renuvion process.
04:39And then I turn the suction off and just like at the beginning,
04:42I run the machine all underneath her skin to smooth everything out
04:47and make sure that she has a beautiful, natural, smooth contour
04:51without any lumps, bumps, irregularities, or anything that we don't want to see.
04:56After that's done, I put a nice neck garment around there
05:00to gently provide some compression in the areas that we worked
05:04and to make sure everything sticks down nicely.
05:07I have them wear that for anywhere from two days to seven days after the procedure.
05:16Hi there, it's Lindsey.
05:18I am day one post-op.
05:21I do still look kind of like an elf.
05:24They told me that I can't take this off for another 24 hours
05:27and do the whole wash and reveal.
05:30Here we are, day number two as promised.
05:34Just a little forewarning.
05:36I'm feeling really, really puffy.
05:38I realized the past couple nights I've had ramen,
05:41which as we all know, ramen is so high in sodium.
05:45After getting lipo, you're supposed to stay away from salt.
05:47So, bad girl.
05:49I'm going to do that from now on.
05:50Drink more water.
05:51But yeah, here we go.
05:52This will be a good standard.
05:54So, now we can see how puffy I can get and then in the next few days how snatched I'm
05:57going to be.
05:59But we can see right here.
06:02And it's still a little blowfish.
06:05But it'll go down eventually.
06:09It's been two weeks today since I had chin lipo.
06:12I'm so happy with the progress so far.
06:15And I know these aren't the final results.
06:17But just from when I started to now, it's already looking so much better.
06:21As the weeks go on, I'm hoping that the scar tissue will subside.
06:25It's just a little tight right here.
06:28The incisions are already diminishing.
06:31They're so tiny.
06:31You can't really even see them anymore.
06:34And I can't wait to see what the future holds two to three weeks from now and even six months
06:38from now.
06:39Once you get the chin lipo and skin tightening, the result is actually permanent.
06:44So, it's not something that you need to keep on doing after a while.
06:47It's a one and done thing that will stay with you and then just continue along the normal growth and
06:55aging process with the rest of your body.
06:58I really didn't experience any pain.
07:01Maybe like the first night where I was still kind of like just sore and groggy from surgery itself.
07:06But I really didn't need any of the pain medication.
07:10They recommend getting lymphatic drainage massage.
07:13So, I have a masseuse that I've been going to for a while.
07:15When I see her, we do 45 minutes of a massage.
07:19She works out any of the like stiffness and the swelling.
07:22And then I continue that at home as well.
07:24I think the key after this procedure is really to just take it easy a little bit.
07:29Don't go nuts.
07:29But it's equally important to not lay there perfectly still and just don't do anything.
07:35Live your life.
07:36Be comfortable.
07:37Just follow your instructions and you'll do great.
07:40Working with Dr. Gapay was great.
07:43He has a good bedside manner.
07:45He's funny and he's really, really experienced.
07:48Lindsay's amazing.
07:49She is someone who's just, she's funny.
07:52She's so smart and she knows what she's getting into.
07:55That for me was one of the best things.
07:57She did her research.
07:59She is a fantastic patient.
08:02When I look in the mirror now, it's amazing.
08:05Because I can actually see my jawline come out and more pronounced.
08:10And it reminds me of how I used to look when I was younger.
08:13I feel so much more confident.
08:15So much more myself, my best self.
08:18But it definitely has made a big, big change in my confidence.
08:21It's something that I don't have to think twice about now.
08:24And I can really just like go out and conquer the world.
