01:32etiquette
01:32girl look that's what i was thinking but look see i got i have to pull the stops out for
01:37this one
01:37girl but we gonna see period i'm excited all right so let's get started so frankie today i want to
01:43talk
01:43to you all about your journey being from houston content creation and um what's next for you at
01:49festival so let's get into it um you have built such a strong digital presence um when did you
01:57realize content creation was the path for you well honestly it realized me to be honest like it was
02:03kind of like a thing where i was having this conversation with my best friends the other day
02:06and it was like girl like it's just so crazy people like think that it's kind of like a personality
02:10or like it's an online persona but it's just like girl no this is literally me i just pick up
02:15the
02:15phone and started recording so i was like hey might as well get paid while i'm acting a fool
02:19and you know i feel inclined to tell the people that this is authentically you like this is not a
02:27persona
02:27this is frankie real frankie and i just i love it and i think i feel like houston really gets
02:34to
02:34experience you and how amazing and fun and talented and authentic you are and i'm so excited that the
02:41world finally gets to see this side of you i'm just proud for sure so you've given us iconic moments
02:51but we have to talk about your hell yeah moment oh my god because that really took off into a
02:58world of
02:59its own yeah you know what hell yeah yeah did you think that all these like brands and just like
03:09reuses of the audio would go crazy on tiktok i'm not gonna lie like the original video because it was
03:15kind of like so risque i was like oh it ain't gonna be another girl then i literally woke up
03:20the next day
03:21and we was already like at like 3.2 million views and i was like okay well this is t
03:26and then one thing
03:27lead to the next girl that sound started trending on the tiktok chart it just what it was it that
03:32sound i would say kind of changed my life but the life that i was living was already t but
03:37girl you
03:37definitely added a little extra flavor love it love it i think i saw mac had used it and i
03:43was like
03:44oh frankie's on okay when i saw like i think it was chipotle which when they when they kind of
03:49like
03:50pulled it out and they was like hey we think you want to um use your sound and this is
03:55what we're
03:55offering i was like baby have at it it's all yours okay it's all yours love it love it so
04:01i want to get
04:02back to talking a little bit about houston um how has the city kind of influenced you or impact you
04:11um
04:11to be the person that you are today uh i would say houston definitely like i wouldn't say i don't
04:20know
04:20if mold is the correct word but it definitely like added a little water onto my clay to help you
04:25know
04:25build the foundation it's been very accepting like honestly this city has truly really changed my life
04:30i've been here 10 years now so honestly i was like it's home like it's it's my roots a little
04:37bit like
04:37this is where i feel like i you know i became like a woman you know what i'm saying like
04:41really kind of
04:43really helped me blossom and the city is just so filled with culture it's rich in all aspects of
04:49like my walks of life anybody walks of life and it's just comfortable at the end of the day love
04:55it love
04:55it as a fellow houstonian myself i can definitely attest to that i feel like houston is such a rich
05:02city
05:03full of creatives and influencers and just so many talented people so much i think about kind of like
05:12you know like you nondi me tori and how we kind of like really kind of made our start in
05:19the city and
05:19now are literally taking over like taking over like flooding like flooding i like that flooding
05:27so speaking of houston i feel like um the nightlife has definitely contributed to your rise
05:35um how would you describe houston nightlife and what is the ultimate like houston night like how
05:41would you describe that to describe it charismatic and never ending um
05:50my ultimate night i'm going to probably say girl it gotta be seaside like i love that place and then
05:59so
05:59like my new little routine now i go to this i go to seaside from because that stops at midnight
06:03and
06:03then i leave there and i go to this place called bob kitty and it just makes me feel like
06:08new york like
06:09i just be in there just you know girl rubbing my chest having me a little time so that's been
06:15like
06:15my ultimate go-to right now love it love it so now i kind of want to get into the
06:21fashion because fashion
06:23um and design has really been a part of your identity for so long um like even going back to
06:30when we first worked together um you know we kind of brought you on to help style the models that
06:35we
06:36were doing for our spring i think it was our spring issue at houstonia and you absolutely killed it
06:42um so i want to ask like what made you want to get into that aspect um and also incorporate
06:49that into
06:50your content it really just kind of started naturally honestly i was like i would always
06:56make pieces like when i was getting ready to go out and like so when i stopped i ended up
07:00stop styling
07:01kind of had like a world hall and i was like i need to figure something out and i think
07:05that's when i
07:05was like well let me do see what this content thing is hitting on if it's hot if it's not
07:09what can
07:09it do and i just started like doing stuff that i do day to day so fashion of course is
07:13my day to day
07:14and i was like well let me just record this make cool record me making something and i saw like
07:18a
07:18little inspo pic that i wanted to make i was like well let me just see what it's giving it
07:22gave girl
07:22and i was just like you know this is something good because i wanted to show it's like hard being
07:27a jack of all trades and being able to do everything and being so well-rounded when it comes to
07:30being
07:31able to create and being a creator overall so the aspect of it just kind of like let me showcase
07:36it
07:36in a way that still like resonates with my audience and its niches that they like to get to so
07:41that's how i just it was like a natural marriage almost just kind of like molding it to what they
07:45want to
07:45see or how they want to see it for sure sometimes it's like when i'm watching your videos i think
07:50i could do that but then realistically that's the part that i love like as long as you can feel
07:58like
07:58you can do it you got a little thought my job is well done love it and speaking of designing
08:03you also
08:04have your own brand called rich etiquette um so let's talk about yes let's talk about that a little
08:10bit um how did that brand come together from the name to the pieces that you designed like
08:16how would you describe the creative direction behind it so literally i've never told how i
08:22really came up with that's rich so girl i was living downtown drunk as a skunk leaving a party
08:28and um one i was going like walking past it's a little after hours for my community and it's called
08:35hamburger mary's so we was downtown hamburger mary's and it was my best friend and i was walking by
08:40and a homeless lady was like saying something she was you think you so cute with your ragdoll
08:45fashions i was like well girl that's rich coming from you laying on the side of the road
08:50i like that and then ever since we just i see her often so i like literally to give her
08:55like i
08:56literally just saw her today on the same post because i was living in a restaurant and bought
08:59her some food like that's my girl and we say all the time i was a great that rich she
09:03was that's rich and
09:04that's literally how i came up with that so i kind of rich etiquette came because like i started
09:10once i ended up doing the fashion i was like giving girls tips on dating and how to spot a
09:16man with the
09:17coins and such like that so i was like you know this is rich but i need to give it
09:21a word and that's
09:22it's etiquette so i was oh rich etiquette girl and it just works love it love it it's kind of
09:28like
09:28everything kind of like came together piece by piece literally brick by brick girl and when it's
09:34supposed to happen it blows my mind it literally blows my mind so something exciting um that you're
09:40gearing up to do is you're kind of going on like this mini tour with ken the man um and
09:45i don't know
09:45if you've ever kind of talked about this um outwardly but how did that sort of bond happen
09:53between you and her so ken and i that's my girl i love her so much that we our first
09:59time meeting
10:00was through one of our other mutual friends named ken it was also on a photo shoot it was for
10:04her um
10:05a remix that she did i cannot think of it right now i know the song but i remember what
10:09we called
10:09it i think we called it uh oh and uh it was for that we did the cover art we
10:13hated it me and ken
10:14got into it on the set it was just like whatever so but it we kept on going and we
10:19kept on doing
10:20shoots and then we kind of just in it did it it happened naturally where we just stopped working
10:26with each other professionally like in that aspect at least like we need her stylist and creative
10:30director but we still pitch each other ideas but that just kind of stopped and not even on purpose
10:36but kind of by asking because we just became good friends and we were just like okay hey and then
10:40we
10:40just started doing stuff back and forth she's always been supportive of my career clearly girl so it
10:45just that's how it happened on a photo shoot and girl we just kept it going from there
10:49love it love it funny enough we actually had can the man perform at our first creator's house
10:54so i think that this is kind of like full circle that is like have your own moment at festival
11:00um so speaking of gu you are our official host for both came back in creator's house how are you
11:07feeling about that girl like when when we got that email my manager was like hey so
11:13essence is trying to get you to host something i was okay cool but when we got on the car
11:16we like
11:17went through the details i was like oh so this is like a husband husband like girl that's on my
11:21way
11:21to the to the met red carpet no t so i was beyond excited especially with the history that i
11:26have
11:26there with you and nadi it was just oh girl makes me emotional a little bit just like seeing all
11:32of this
11:32even like sitting here talking to you in this capacity right now and when we had the conversation
11:36when we wrapped the shoe and you were telling your dreams and like sitting here seeing you do it it's
11:41just like so like literally like wait a second girl like we did this a little bit and it's just
11:48literally it's it's an honor it's truly an honor and i could not be more excited to do my like
11:53first
11:53real deal one two with nobody other than home honestly every year we think about who do we want
11:58to host and um last year we had jay mulan and she literally knocked it out the park and so
12:04this year
12:05we were like oh my god like who are we gonna get and the first name i thought of frankie
12:10like i feel
12:11like you've had such a tremendous rise in such a short amount of time um and i feel like you
12:18know how
12:19to work a crowd and i have no doubts that the crowd is not going to be jumping with you
12:23on stage
12:24so i'm beyond excited about that so for my next couple questions i kind of want to talk a little
12:30bit about being a creator and kind of advice to the creators that are going to be on the ground
12:35because
12:35a lot of our attendees they want to become influencers they want to um you know figure out
12:41how they can have their own viral moment right as a rising creative what is something that you've
12:47learned through your journey from going viral to forming relationships growth structure
12:54i cannot stress enough i literally wrote the ebook on it on how to strong making sure that your
12:59your social media structure the one thing that i really appreciate i guess was like my journey with
13:04it and kind of like rising fame was that i always had bullet points of where somebody else could like
13:12see more of me or see exactly what i do how to interact or support however they wanted to do
13:17i had structure so that's the one thing and that's with anything whether you want to be an influencer
13:22whether you want to be a doctor or nurse you have to have some type you have to have i
13:26call them
13:26bullet points which i feel like are like revisit moments to like wherever you want to move and to
13:32get ahead just to like stay on path just structure i cannot stress structure enough love it love it so
13:40one thing about you you know you're very active online you have a really big personality um and not
13:48only are you sharing it within your group but you're kind of sharing it with the world now how do
13:52you find
13:53moments to kind of like protect your peace while still being online controlling your narrative honestly like
14:05the stories that i tell and the things that i tell of course are so inviting so it can make
14:12someone feel
14:13very prone to that pure socialism which is okay and a lot of people need that so it's just still
14:21i don't and that's such a always a tough question to answer because i kind of jade the two without
14:28purposefully blurring them because i my online person is me so it's like i what how do i do it
14:36but i just do it you know like even when people come up to me we take pictures we do
14:39etc they want
14:40they look many advices right there girl i give it to them but i guess i guess knowing the solitude
14:45of
14:45like what i'm doing right now like when i'm in my own home in my own dominion it's mine and
14:50then when i
14:51know if i saw i'm frankie blue and in full throttle you know so i kind of think that's where
14:56i'm able to
14:57separate the two love it love it so winding down to my last two questions um overall how does it
15:05feel
15:06to sort of be on this next wave of black internet culture like i feel like we're seeing this
15:15new wave of influencers this new wave of creators and i truly believe that you're at the top of that
15:21chain um so how does it feel to kind of like be ushered in as like this new class if
15:27you will
15:28sacred no pun intended girl but sacred it feels like because we're in like i don't know i literally
15:38was having a conversation with myself the other day and like out of the blue the revolution is being
15:43televised came on i think that's some whatever song it is and i was like oh that's rich because i
15:49really
15:49feel like that is what we're not only what the world is going through with us as black individuals
15:55and especially creators reclaiming our time reclaiming our moment reclaiming who we are what
16:00is ours it just feels so sacred and important and to be a part of that i feel like in
16:06just a little
16:07way that i do pitch into it it's undeniable i i can't i wouldn't change it for the world it's
16:12it's an honor i'm grateful to be able to offer what i can to what i can yeah for sure
16:18love it
16:19so winding down to my last question for you frankie there are going to be a lot of attendees on
16:24the
16:24ground that's going to want to connect with you take pictures with you um or any you know creator for
16:30that matter what is your advice to them about approaching you or just approaching other creators
16:37in real life just i mean read the room and just kind of like maintain that you can you can
16:42see a
16:43boundary always i think a lot of me especially i love taking the pictures i love giving the hugs i
16:49i
16:49love to exchange your energy because you just never know what people need so that one little hug could
16:55probably save them from their 13th reason literally and you know taking things a little further than it
17:01needs to be so always i am always open but you know just read the room if somebody don't want
17:06to be
17:06touch a different way or if they don't want to hug or just simply just ask if you're not sure
17:10but grow me come on let's get to it get to it love it well thank you so much frankie
17:15for chatting with
17:16gu today and you can catch frankie at creator's house and kickback this year at essence festival of
17:22culture until next time
