00:00It's been more than six months and we still don't know what happened to Nancy Guthrie.
00:04New questions are now emerging about the investigation into her disappearance and
00:07whether critical time was lost in the very first hours of the case.
00:11A bombshell report claims investigators found dried blood on the front porch of Guthrie's
00:16Arizona home, but they allegedly dismissed it as a nosebleed or a head bump and failed to secure
00:23the property as a crime scene. The head of the Pima County Homicide Unit, who apparently made
00:27the decision to ignore the blood, is Sergeant David Stivers. And according to the Wall Street
00:32Journal, he'd been reprimanded two months before Nancy's kidnapping after displaying
00:35poor judgment during a previous homicide case. You don't say. Now, detectives spent the first
00:42two days of the Guthrie investigation debating whether the 84-year-old had been kidnapped or
00:46had simply wandered away. During that time, the report says reporters, social media influencers,
00:50and even delivery drivers were able to just come and go from the property before the scene was
00:55properly locked down. Just think of all those people traipsing back and forth. Investigators
00:59later confirmed through DNA testing that the blood on the porch belonged to Guthrie and now believe
01:04it's connected to her abduction, obviously. The report also says a search and rescue aircraft
01:10sat grounded during the critical first day of the investigation because there was no deputy
01:14who was trained to operate its surveillance equipment. Now, Guthrie has been missing since the
01:19end of January, and investigators have since released two ransom notes, including a second
01:24letter claiming she died accidentally after being kidnapped. Her body has never been found,
01:28and the investigation remains active. Serious abuse allegations are casting a shadow over Ohio
01:34Congressman Max Miller, and now they're coming from inside of his own family. Miller's ex-wife,
01:39Emily Moreno, is accusing the congressman of brutal physical abuse during their marriage.
01:44The allegations against the Republican lawmaker are disturbing, including pouring scalding hot water
01:50on his wife, putting a gun to her head, and they're even raising questions about whether he was
01:54responsible for his two-year-old daughter's broken collarbone. Now, Miller has strongly denied these
01:59allegations, insisting he's never abused his ex-wife or his daughter. Now, for the first time,
02:04Emily's father, Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno, is publicly rebuking his former son-in-law.
02:09Moreno says he believes Miller is a danger to his daughter and his granddaughter, claiming that the
02:13congressman needs professional help and should not continue serving in the House of Representatives.
02:18Now, Miller is, of course, pushing back, accusing his former father-in-law, the senior senator from
02:22the state of Ohio, a member of his own party, by the way, of playing politics and insisting the
02:27claims against him are false. The congressman is currently running for re-election as the legal
02:31and political battle continues. Ronald Exantis, who fatally sapped a six-year-old named Logan Tipton,
02:39as the boy slept in bed in 2015, has been released from prison after serving his sentence.
02:44I feel like I need to repeat that so that it sinks in. A guy who murdered a small child
02:49is out of
02:49prison in a smidge over a decade, and it gets worse. During trial, Exantis was found not guilty
02:56of murdering Logan Tipton by reason of insanity, but was convicted of assault for stabbing Logan's
03:02father and aunts during the same attack. Make it make sense to me. Now, after receiving credit for
03:07time served, he was released this week with no further supervision. No parole, no mandatory check-in
03:13with anyone. Now, Logan's father, Dean Tipton, said the decision feels like a life sentence for his
03:17family, writing that the judge and jury gave his son's killer a slap on the wrist while his family
03:22has been forced to live with the loss every single day. Now, the case led to the passage of Logan's
03:27Law in Kentucky, which toughens rules for violent offenders and changes how insanity defense cases
03:31are handled. But because the law is not retroactive, it doesn't apply to Exantis. Now, Logan's father
03:37says his fight is not over, vowing to push for even stronger laws to keep violent offenders
03:41from receiving early release in the future. For more on these stories and everything else you
