01:52Amelia's here!
01:54Told you, no way Amelia could stay away.
01:58I ignored the crowd waiting for a show, walked straight up to Tyler.
02:09Amelia, you can't force my feelings.
02:14We've known each other our whole lives.
02:19I don't want to say anything ugly and ruin what we had.
02:23From now on, I'll still treat you like my little sister.
02:27If you need anything, you can still come to me.
02:33Everyone's watching.
02:35Don't make a scene, just go home.
02:39Tyler.
02:40Amelia, be good.
02:45I just came to give this back.
02:49Amelia, what are you trying to pull now?
02:51Take the bracelet back.
02:53I won't come around anymore.
02:55This amount of money means nothing to me.
02:57If you don't want it, throw it out.
03:05All the gifts I gave you before, just throw them out too.
03:11I didn't look at him again, turned and walked away.
03:14Tyler stood there until I was completely gone from sight.
03:18Come on, Amelia's just saving her pride.
03:20She's putting on a front.
03:21Tyler, you'll see.
03:23Before the night's over, she'll regret it.
03:25Bet you 20 bucks.
03:26Soon as we leave, she'll be back here crying, digging through that trash can.
03:32Let her.
03:34If it weren't for our families, I wouldn't waste a five minutes on her.
03:39All right, all right.
03:40Don't let her ruin tonight.
03:42We're supposed to be celebrating.
03:46He tossed my annoying face out of his head.
03:49He thought I would act as if nothing had happened tomorrow.
03:52Waiting for him at his dorm building.
03:54Pestering him to go to class together.
03:57He'd seen this play out too many times over the years.
04:03By the time I got to the bridge, the rain was coming down hard.
04:06I stood there under my umbrella, thinking about my last life.
04:10Last time, I lost it the night Tyler confessed to Bella.
04:14Cried, screamed, tried to force him to break up with her.
04:18In the end, I jumped off this bridge that night.
04:20And what happened? Nearly died.
04:23Tyler stayed at the hospital for five minutes.
04:27Then walked out without mercy.
04:28The blacks, the family that adopted me, were humiliated by the suicide attempt.
04:34And since Tyler had made his position clear, I had no use to them anymore.
04:38They pulled me out of school.
04:40Sent me back to my birth parents.
04:41A pair of drunks who dealt drugs.
04:44Ran a brothel.
04:45The worst kind of people.
04:46After that, my life just spiraled.
04:49I died alone in some foreign country.
04:52After I died, the one who buried me was him.
04:56The one I'd always been afraid of.
04:59The one I'd kept at a distance.
05:01And Tyler?
05:01He was a newlywed by then.
05:03Riding high.
05:04He never showed up.
05:06Not once.
05:07If I hadn't already lived this once, I'd be blowing up Tyler's phone right now.
05:12I would threaten to kill myself and about to jump.
05:15But now, I have a chance.
05:17A chance to change my terrible future.
05:20The third time I dialed the number.
05:23He finally picked up.
05:25Damon Herdersen.
05:26The name rolled on my tongue a few times.
05:29Then I finally say it.
05:30The rain was coming down so hard.
05:33Shutting out the rest of the world.
05:36Amelia.
05:39Damon, it's really coming down.
05:41I'm stuck by the bridge.
05:44Can you come get me?
05:48The line went quiet for a few seconds.
05:52Last time, the day Damon buried me, he cried.
05:57Even in the dream, I could feel how hot they were.
06:00After the funeral, he gripped a pearl earring, silent.
06:04He stayed alone the rest of his life.
06:07I couldn't help it.
06:11Why are you crying?
06:15I didn't say I wouldn't come.
06:17Then when are you coming?
06:19Wait me. 20 minutes.
06:22Okay.
06:23I'll wait for you, Damon.
06:25He didn't say anything else.
06:27The line went dead.
06:2815 minutes later, I gave my umbrella to a mom and kid trying to take cover.
06:33So by the time Damon got there, I was soaked through.
06:38I grinned up at him.
06:39Damon!
06:40You're right on time.
06:42Amelia.
06:43You might as well just be done with it.
06:45Die of stupidity.
06:46He grabbed my arm and stuffed me into the car.
06:53Dry off.
06:54Don't get my car dirty.
07:00Okay.
07:05I couldn't help stealing a glance at him.
07:07When he wasn't smiling, he always looked unreachable.
07:11Cold.
07:12Tons of girls at school liked him, but none of them dared to confess.
07:15He and Tyler were roommates.
07:17I'd been to Tyler's dorm a lot.
07:19Every time I went, Damon acted like he hate me.
07:22Even now.
07:23He came to get me, but the attitude was still freezing.
07:27When he'd shoved me into the car just now, his grip had been hard.
07:30My wrist still hurt.
07:32A red ring of marks.
07:33There was nothing about him that said he'd been quietly in love with me the whole time.
07:39Everything from the dream had really happened.
07:41But because I'd changed things, a lot was different now.
07:45Would Damon still love me?
07:47If he didn't, wasn't I just dragging him into a mess?
07:53Back to your dorm?
07:54My heart skipped.
07:56Before I could stop myself, I said it.
07:58Mmm.
07:58Back to yours.
08:04Tyler isn't coming back tonight.
08:07I know.
08:11I'm not looking for him.
08:19Amelia.
08:22Don't fucking use me as part of whatever game you two are playing.
08:26I'm not!
08:27I'll call you an Uber.
08:29You go back yourself.
08:30Damon?
08:32Damon!
08:33Amelia.
08:34But there was no anger in his eyes.
08:36No disgust.
08:38Just something dark and deep.
08:41Suddenly, I felt a sadness I couldn't quite put into words.
08:45Damon, I don't want to go back to my dorm.
08:48The other girls all laugh at me.
08:50And I'm afraid of going home.
08:53Can I just stay at your place tonight?
08:55I hid his phone behind my back.
08:58I mean, if you really hate me, if you really don't want to see me, then forget it.
09:02Damon didn't say a single word.
09:04But he started the car again.
09:07It headed toward campus.
09:09Stopped in front of his dorm building in the end.
09:12I followed Damon inside.
09:14The bathroom's that way.
09:17I showered.
09:19Threw the hoodie on.
09:22Came out bare-legged.
09:31I walked past Tyler's bed.
09:35And sat down on Damon's.
09:37My wet hair dripped onto the sheet.
09:40The shampoo and body wash on me, all of it smelled like Damon.
09:51Going for a smoke.
09:55I looked around his room.
09:57Curious.
09:58Clean.
09:58Neat.
09:59I was just about to check out what he kept on his desk.
10:02Then my phone buzzed.
10:04Tyler's name lit up the screen.
10:05I didn't pick up.
10:07It rang again right away.
10:09Like he wasn't going to stop.
10:11I just switched the phone to silent.
10:15Dropped it back in my bag.
10:17Damon?
10:23What is it?
10:24What is it?
10:24We held eye contact for two seconds before he looked away.
10:27But I caught it.
10:28The tips of his ears were a little red.
10:33I got your sheets wet.
10:35How am I supposed to sleep tonight?
10:37He glanced at me.
10:39Then at the wet spots on the sheet.
10:47Go dry your hair first.
10:50I'll change the sheets then you can sleep.
10:52He went to the closet for clean ones.
10:54I held the towel and thought about how red his ears had just gotten.
10:58I couldn't help smiling.
11:01By the time I came out with my hair dry, Damon had finished changing the sheet.
11:06Go to sleep.
11:07What about you?
11:09I'll play some games.
11:11Oh.
11:13I sat down on his bed.
11:14A little deflated.
11:16Damon picked up his headphones.
11:17Just about to put them on when his phone rang.
11:28Tyler.
11:29What's up?
11:30Yeah, I'm in the dorm.
11:33You're saying someone saw Amelia at our building?
11:35My heart jumped.
11:38I...
11:38I...
11:39I didn't wait for him to finish.
11:40I got up, walked over, climbed onto his lap, and wrapped my arms around his neck.
11:45Damon, tell him I'm not here.
11:54Under my fingers, his skin went hot, burning.
11:57I could see the vein at the side of his neck tense up, pushing against the skin.
12:02His throat was working.
12:03His heart was hammering.
12:13No.
12:14No.
12:15I've been in the dorm the whole time.
12:17She's not here.
12:18Yeah.
12:18Ask someone else.
12:23I could feel it.
12:25Everything burning.
12:27My first instinct was to run.
12:29But Damon held me tighter.
12:31His breath was hot against my ear.
12:33My neck.
12:34And I could do it.
12:45No...
20:01No one could see
28:46No way was he going to piss off the families over a fake heiress.
28:49But they'd known each other their whole lives.
28:54Tyler figured, tonight, if Amelia couldn't take it and came back to him,
28:59he wouldn't even need her to grovel.
29:02A few red-eyed tears, and he'd let her back in.
29:11Guess who I just saw?
29:14Who? Stop teasing.
29:15Who?
29:16Yeah, who? Don't tell me it's Amelia.
29:20Actually, it's Amelia.
29:22Tyler told you! Amelia can't stay away from you!
29:26See? She caved tonight.
29:29Tyler didn't say anything, but the storm on his face was clearing.
29:35Tyler, can you make Amelia leave?
29:39She chased you for so long, it makes me feel weird.
29:43Tyler looked at Bella, and suddenly, she was easier to look at than five minutes ago.
29:48His mood lifted out of nowhere, but Amelia's behavior the past month had pissed him off.
29:54Even if he was going to forgive her tonight, she needed a little punishment.
30:12Damon walked in. Big strides.
30:14His voice wasn't loud, but it dropped like a stone.
30:18There was a kind of pressure to it nobody could place.
30:21The whole room went silent, because every single person saw it.
30:27There was a girl walking in behind Damon, and that girl was me.
30:50The rest of the room cleared out fast.
30:53Blood dripped from Tyler's hand, one drop at a time.
30:57He didn't even feel it.
30:59Tyler was staring at Damon.
31:06Damon.
31:07You gonna explain?
31:09His grip was dry and steady.
31:12It calmed me down.
31:15Explain what?
31:16Why Amelia walked in here, with you.
31:20You invited me to your birthday, with my girlfriend.
31:24Forget already?
31:26Tyler looked like something in him had snapped.
31:30Damon.
31:32You focusing no.
31:34Amelia is mine.
31:36Yours how?
31:37Girlfriend?
31:38Fiance?
31:40Or because a girl liked you once, that makes her your property?
31:44You knew Amelia liked me, and you still went after her?
31:48Tyler.
31:49He didn't go after me.
31:52I started it.
31:55I said, what a girl named tegeninger?
31:55I killed her, and I said, what a girl in the middle of the country.
31:55Because I can see if you've lost and what a girl in the love see you.
31:56Or in the middle of the culture is fist, if a girl like me.
