00:00You happy?
00:02You're there.
00:04It's so peaceful.
00:05I really needed this.
00:07Realizing how much I needed this after having a baby.
00:11Great place to just disconnect and be in nature.
00:15Eat some good food.
00:18It's not too hot.
00:20Not too cold.
00:21It's not raining.
00:23It's kind of perfect.
00:27Yeah.
00:28Yeah.
00:29Let's do it all right.
01:17I hope you can hear me over the flowing river which is right here.
01:26In case you missed the last episode.
01:28We drove from Hua Hin to a town called Ranong.
01:32Which is kind of like halfway between Hua Hin and Phuket.
01:36Down south of Thailand.
01:37We're on our three week road trip.
01:39We don't have too much planned except for this stop.
01:42And a stop at Khao Sok National Park.
01:45And then we're sort of deciding whether to go to Koh Samui or Phuket.
01:48If you missed last episode we drove for about six hours.
01:52And got here.
01:53Had dinner.
01:54Pretty much went to bed.
01:55We had a really decent sleep last night.
01:58All of us.
01:59Which is surprising.
02:00We weren't sure if Lila was going to sleep well in a new environment.
02:04They just had this little sort of cot next to the bed set up for her.
02:08Which didn't look that comfortable.
02:10But she actually slept really good.
02:11So did Mandy.
02:12So did I.
02:12They just brought us breakfast.
02:14Which is included daily.
02:16It's about 8.30.
02:17So I'm going to sit and have some breakfast.
02:19While Mandy's getting Lila ready in the bath.
02:22So one important thing to note about this property.
02:25Which I should actually say the name of it.
02:27I haven't mentioned it yet have I.
02:28Put it up on screen for you.
02:29Because I'll probably butcher the name.
02:31But it's called Banamong.
02:32And so this is like a tree house.
02:35There's a bunch of them here.
02:36We booked it through Airbnb.
02:38And it's on a river.
02:40Surrounded by nature.
02:42And there's a private onsen.
02:43Which everyone who's staying here can use.
02:45I think it's 300 baht.
02:48For a couple to use.
02:50For 45 minutes.
02:51So we're booked in today at 10 o'clock.
02:53So pretty much right after breakfast.
02:55We're going to head over to onsen and use that.
02:57There's actually a really nice cafe.
02:59Which was open last night.
03:00We got dinner from.
03:01We'll take you guys there.
03:03And we'll show you around Ranong.
03:05We drove past a couple of cool temples.
03:07Apparently it's most well known for its seafood here.
03:11I'm going to try and get some tips on things to do.
03:13But for now I'm going to dig into this breakfast.
03:16Which looks amazing.
03:18It's like this chicken rice sort of soup sort of thing.
03:21So there's the steamed chicken rice.
03:23With veggies.
03:26Soup.
03:29Another one from Andy.
03:31Ojo.
03:34Some fresh bananas.
03:38This.
03:39Is.
03:40Looks like.
03:43Sticky rice.
03:44Something on top.
03:45I don't know what that is.
03:47And.
03:48I don't know what this is either.
03:52Looks like some sort of a cake or something.
03:55Anyway.
03:55We'll give it a go.
03:56And then I'm going to go.
03:57Grab a coffee.
03:58From the cafe.
04:05It's actually really good.
04:09Okay.
04:10I wasn't even going to try either of these two.
04:12Because they look kind of weird.
04:14But they're both delicious.
04:15This is like.
04:16A sweet.
04:17Almost.
04:17Apple.
04:18Cinnamon.
04:19Crumble.
04:20Flavour.
04:21Ha.
04:22Sticky rice thing.
04:24And then this one.
04:25Again.
04:25Is sweet.
04:27Kind of like a custardy.
04:29Flavour.
04:30With sticky rice.
04:31Never had that before in my life.
04:33Almost didn't try it.
04:34But it's actually really good.
04:35I might have to order that again.
04:37Yeah.
04:38Good.
04:40I tried those sticky rice things.
04:42They're pretty good.
04:43This one?
04:44Yeah.
04:45What's that?
04:46I don't know.
04:46It looks funny.
04:47But it tastes good.
04:48Looks a bit creepy.
04:50I don't know.
04:51Like.
04:51Food that's that colour.
04:54Don't know about it.
04:56It's sweet.
04:57This one's sweet?
04:58They both are.
04:59But yeah.
04:59That one.
04:59Kind of familiar taste.
05:01I don't know what it is.
05:03It's really nice.
05:04Yeah.
05:04I wasn't going to eat it.
05:06It is sort of cinnamon or something.
05:09Is it cinnamon?
05:10Maybe.
05:11Yeah.
05:12That's so tasty.
05:23This is so pretty.
05:30Just heading to the onsen.
05:32For a 45 minute hot and cold plunge.
05:36I'm pretty sure.
05:37It's so nice here.
05:39Fully in the middle of a jungle.
05:41Mm-hmm.
05:54So peaceful.
05:55That walk through the garden was the most stunning thing I've ever seen.
05:58It's beautiful here.
05:59Yeah.
06:00It's pretty great.
06:00Might do hot first and then cold.
06:03Or cold then hot.
06:04That would've been like that.
06:26In this very beautiful piel.
06:27All the water.
06:28Yeah.
06:29Yeah.
06:30Cool.
06:30I can't remember.
06:31It has to be a good story.
06:31Yeah.
06:31But it's really good.
06:32It is a good story.
06:32It's cool.
06:32It looks great.
06:33a little bit of water.
06:34Lots of natural minerals and stuff in it really good for you. This is super chill. Hey honey
06:47It would be cool if this was a private onsen
06:51yeah it was attached to the cabin we're staying in but
06:53yeah basically you get to rent this whole thing out for 45 minutes
06:58anytime you want 300 baht i think that's a pretty good deal
07:08How's Lila? She's loving it. She's sitting spotting.
07:15You happy? Yeah. So peaceful. I really needed this realizing how much I needed this after having a baby.
07:26Great place to just disconnect and be in nature, eat some good food
07:34It's not too hot. Not too cold. It's not raining. It's kind of perfect
07:58All right guys, we're just going to take a quick break from showing you this amazing onsen in Ranong to
08:03tell you about today's video sponsor
08:05Which is Olafly. So the fact that we can even access internet data in such a remote location
08:11From our phones is an absolute godsend and it's all thanks to Olafly eSims. If you've never heard of Olafly
08:17They offer international eSIM cards for over 200 destinations worldwide including thailand
08:24That means from the moment you land you can stay connected and avoid those crazy roaming fees when you get
08:29back home
08:30So the data packages are super flexible. They have data packages ranging all the way from 1 to 90 days
08:36With unlimited data packages available as well actually to be completely honest the only
08:41Downside to the cabin we've been staying in is that the wi-fi is really really slow
08:47Which as content creators makes it really difficult to work. We have to like upload content and we hold
08:53Weekly school q&a meetings. So we've actually been able to tether our phones to our computers
09:00Using our Olafly eSIM and that's because Olafly now offers hotspot capability in over 217 destinations
09:08Including thailand with 202 of those destinations offering unlimited data
09:14So if you need to share your connection or stay online for work like us
09:18Olafly is honestly the greatest answer and here's a kicker
09:21They also have a super flexible six month refund policy now
09:26So if you buy an eSIM and you don't activate it or use it within six months because maybe your
09:31plans have changed
09:32They will give you a full refund which is absolutely incredible
09:36Just a quick side note though before you go ahead and purchase an Olafly eSIM
09:41Please make sure that you check that your phone is compatible
09:44Although most smartphones are these days
09:47So whether you're road tripping around thailand like us or traveling anywhere in the world
09:51For that matter, we highly recommend using Olafly. We've been using them for almost three years now
09:56If you want to check them out, make sure you click the link down below in the description
10:01Also, don't forget to use code Lloyd and Mandy for five percent off at checkout. All right, we're going to
10:05show you around renong now
10:18I love the furnishings in here and all the natural wood. It's so nice
10:22Thailand's actually really good at cafes. Yeah. Yeah, I feel like that's a lesser known fact about Thailand like
10:29next level good cafes and they're always like really well themed and
10:34The decor is always amazing. There's always like a huge drink list like
10:40Lots of like non-coffee stuff, which I really like because I don't drink coffee, but yeah
10:45It's good. It's been 24 hours. So you're an expert on traveling with a baby now
10:50Do you think it's harder traveling pregnant than with a baby? It seems like it
10:56Literally just the thought of traveling pregnant makes me feel like the sickness that I felt when we did it
11:01with the baby is a hundred times better
11:04Yeah, but it's been a day
11:07Let's check back in in a week or two
11:10We might be able to return
11:12I think with this age like three months because she really only needs me
11:18It's not that hard and she's not like walking yet, so that'll definitely get more challenging but
11:22She's so chill at the moment and like every time she got a little bit fussy last night. I just
11:27take her outside and then she'd just
11:29be okay
11:30so like
11:32I don't know as long as you're close
11:34I had someone tell me like the best advice
11:36It was so simple. It's just if a baby's fussy either take them outside or put them in water
11:42And pretty much that's worked with her
11:44next so far and that's sort of just in our theory
11:47Maybe we've just got lucky, but yeah, so keep it simple and it works
11:51I'm
11:53I'm
12:06I'm
12:08I'm
12:09I'm
12:10I'm
12:12I'm
12:29I'm
12:30I'm
12:30I'm
12:31I'm
12:39I'm
12:40I'm
12:48Okay, we just came for a quick drive, about 10 minutes from where we're staying to a Buddhist
12:54temple here which is massive.
12:57It's called Wat Wari Ban Prat.
12:59You can see it from the highway as you're driving into Ranong.
13:03So we thought we'd make a quick stop here before we go get some lunch and it's pretty
13:08awesome.
13:09Today is actually Chinese New Year.
13:13I believe there are a lot of Chinese Buddhists.
13:16It's kind of busy here.
13:17We're just going to check it out and then we'll go get something to eat.
13:21It's like a little city here.
13:23All these different buildings and roads.
13:32There's like little bungalows where all the monks live I think it looks like.
13:38All their robes and stuff are hanging out the front.
13:41It's such a peaceful place.
13:42I can hear wind chimes everywhere.
13:44I just love it.
13:45Is the ground burning your feet?
13:48It's so hot.
13:50The ground is a little bit hot and it said to take your shoes off as you come in.
13:55It's pretty hot.
13:56I imagine it would be too hot to even walk in the middle of summer.
14:07Super strange, there's a statue of a monk with sunglasses on.
14:11I've never seen that before.
14:15Wow, look at the size of a statue.
14:25It's got like all the year, the symbols of the years up there around the yin yang.
14:30I think that's what it looks like.
14:31It's a bit washed out, but I think it's like year of the snake, the rooster.
14:35Is year of the rooster this year, yeah?
14:37No, I think it's snake.
14:39Oh, snake.
14:40Yeah.
14:40It was dragon last year.
14:43Yeah.
14:43She's dragon.
14:50Pretty cool temple, one of the bigger ones we visited.
14:53And it's right off the highway here as you drive into Ranong, so.
14:58And we're the only ones here.
15:00It's crazy.
15:01And it's so beautiful.
15:03Definitely worth a stop.
15:05All right, we're gonna go get some lunch.
15:08Found a place on Google called The Farmhouse, which has really good reviews.
15:13Looks pretty cool.
15:14Might even have a beer.
15:15It's been a while.
15:16Cheat day.
15:44Now we'll join you up.
15:48But you'll find me out.
15:52Maybe the stones will join the fallin.
15:56It needs to come up again.
16:00Maybe the stones will join the fallin.
16:03It needs to come up again.
16:11Really nice thin crust, it's so good, fresh wood fire pizza.
16:22We just pulled a random red envelope out of a bucket and then handed it to him.
16:27I think it was a discount, yeah, I was right, 50 baht discount, say $2.
16:34The bill was about $750, so pizza and two beers, that's not bad, it's Western prices, it's
16:40not a local restaurant.
16:46Well that was cool to see a little bit of Ranong, I'm actually pretty impressed with it, I feel
16:52like it's a really good spot to stop off if you're driving from either Bangkok or Hua Hin
16:59down to Krabi or Phuket, it's pretty much half way.
17:04Some really good hotels, really good restaurants, the walking street looks like it would be awesome
17:10at night.
17:11We're going to head back to the hotel, give Lila a bath and a nap, have some dinner and get
17:15an early night.
17:17We're not really night time people anymore obviously, but definitely think Ranong should
17:24be on everyone's list if you're, especially if you're doing a road trip and you need to
17:30stop off somewhere like eight or nine hours drive is too far to go at once and it's a really
17:37good spot to stop off half way.
17:40We probably haven't even scratched the surface, there's probably so much more to it, we got
17:44a little glimpse of it didn't we?
17:45Yeah, we really liked it.
17:59There's like 20 cats, this resort, which is probably a good thing, probably keeps all
18:07on Lila's away huh?
18:08A lot of the other fritters, nah, I actually haven't had any mozzie bites or anything.
18:14Neither.
18:15Lila's have one.
18:16Which, if we're on the river I thought there was going to be a lot of mosquitoes.
18:21Hi sweetie.
18:24Ollie, do you see the cat?
18:26It's a kitty cat.
18:32She doesn't care.
18:34I like it here, I feel like Snow White.
18:37What?
18:38I feel like Snow White because I'm just like, all the animals around me.
18:57Hello baby, hello home, hello honor until it's gone.
19:11But still I love her, scared in late.
19:19It's all from my eyes gone to another place.
19:37Yay, snails.
19:39What do you reckon we do with snails?
19:42I've only ever seen people eat them in movies.
19:45And there's like a teeny little pork usually that they eat it with.
19:51They're freaking me out a little bit, hey.
19:56We've eaten spiders.
19:58No we haven't.
19:59No, we ate a scorpion, we ate a scorpion.
20:01Why would I eat a spider?
20:03We ate a scorpion, multiple scorpions.
20:05Ugh, snails.
20:07It's making a mistake so I'm going to have to try one else.
20:16Ugh.
20:17God.
20:19Yeah.
20:19Yeah.
20:20Yeah.
20:21Yeah.
20:21Just doing it, eh?
20:23Fuck it.
20:25It's just for the rubber.
20:33It sort of tastes like calamari or squid.
20:36Really?
20:36Yeah.
20:37It's salty like seafood.
20:39Okay.
20:41I guess they're sea snails.
20:43Right.
20:43Okay.
20:43They're not regular snails.
20:46That one's got it.
20:48Actually pretty good.
20:50Yeah, you like it?
20:51Okay.
20:52Yeah.
20:54Fuck it, eh?
20:56Yeah.
20:56Yeah.
20:56Once you get over the fact it's a snail, it's actually nice.
20:59Yeah.
21:00Yeah, and it's not like a snail that you would find in your fucking backyard or whatever.
21:04How do you know?
21:06Because it's a seafood buffer.
21:09Barbecue, I mean.
21:10Yeah.
21:10Surely they wouldn't just be rounding up snails from the garden.
21:16That's like the only time I've ever seen a snail, so that's like what pops into my head.
21:22Are you going to try it?
21:23Yeah, I guess.
21:25Do it.
21:26Oh, it's warm.
21:28There's some reason I thought it was going to be cold.
21:30Yeah, no, it's hot.
21:31Okay.
21:32Do you eat this end part?
21:34Um, sort of like the first half is soft.
21:39I'm shaking.
21:39Just go for the first half.
21:48That's nice.
21:49The sauce.
21:52It's calamari pretty much, eh?
21:53Like chewier calamari.
21:55I had to say it's snail.
22:18The food for the seafood barbecue just keeps coming and they just brought out a whole fish now.
22:23So we've got the fish, the prawns, the sea snails, the squid, and tomatoes, and rice.
22:34And both of our noses are running because this chili sauce is so spicy but it's so good
22:39we can't stop eating it.
22:40And this guy's come back.
22:45You want the fish?
22:48Pretty cute.
22:49Yeah, it's so cute.
22:50And everything seems hazy Is there some place for safety I could go?
22:59Run away, run away, run away into your escape Run away, run away, run away, you're never too far to
23:10run
23:10Run away, run away, run away
