00:02Hi guys and welcome back to Hello Insider where we're going to be doing a bonus episode all about
00:08Line of Duty Series 7, whether it's going to be happening, any theories and where we think the
00:13show can go. So as a quick recap for the Series 6 finale, we saw plenty of loose ends tied
00:20up.
00:21We finally found out the mystery identity of H and Ted also admitted what went down with Lee
00:27Banks in the prison and we finally saw Jo given her freedom. First things first, Series 7 is actually
00:36happening. Emmy, what can you tell us? Well a lot of people have been talking about this, you know
00:43Martin Compton and Gemma Curio have both said their pieces about whether it's coming back before Season
00:507 and we've also reached out to the BBC to find out whether it's going to be happening or not.
00:55Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the Weed Donkey, can we just move this thing along before it drives us all
01:00round the bloody bend? At the time of us filming this conversation, they haven't commissioned it
01:05for a seventh season. However, it is a massive, massive hit for them. It's been a huge success so
01:12there'd be no reason that the BBC wouldn't want to commission another series and Gemma Curio in an
01:17interview with Rodeo Times said the indications that the BBC remains very sportive without a formal
01:24commission. I would say conversations have been very reassuring from the standpoint of not having
01:28to wrap things up. Yeah, I suspect we probably will have to wait a while. Mind you, I feel like
01:32Lion of Duty fans are quite used to that. You know, we at least have a year, if not more,
01:37between each
01:37series. So as frustrating as it is having to wait, it's kind of always the deal, isn't it? And you
01:44know,
01:44these things take time. But if it does happen, it will absolutely be worth it.
01:48Okay, so let's talk about it. I mean, obviously, at this point, it's very much theorising and
01:54predictions and stuff. But let's start with Ted. So, you know, season 8, Nali, you know, the biggest
02:01problem for him throughout season 6 was that he had been faced with retirement. Do we think he's still
02:08going to be at AC12? Obviously, AC12 was also merging with the other anti-corruption units. Do we
02:14think that's going to happen? Tubby thoughts? The fact that Jed included Ted appealing it at the end
02:21of series 6 kind of sets up quite nicely for that appeal being successful. So I reckon he'll be
02:28reinstated because you can't not. You can't have another season and him, you know, because what would
02:35the alternative be? Him being retired and Steve and Kate going to him for advice and keeping him in
02:41the loop, but him not actually doing it, it just wouldn't work. So I would, I know, it just wouldn't.
02:46In his, like, plot. That's just, no, that's too tragic. That can't happen. Exactly. But I don't think
02:52they'll necessarily get rid of Patricia Carmichael, I think, because obviously, then transpired that she
02:57isn't really, she's not bent, you know, she was just a stickler. You know, I think we've said this
03:04before that we, like, love Anna Maxwell Martin, but her character is so infuriating that it's like,
03:10I don't know whether it will actually, for viewers, be, like, genuinely frustrating if she is in it
03:17throughout the entire series. Do you think you can manage that? So I wonder if maybe her arc might
03:22change in a new series and maybe, maybe her tack would, would completely alter. But I think,
03:31I think you're right. It would be frustrating for viewers because people really don't like her.
03:36They'd have to, they'd have to do some drastic changes in order to kind of get people on her side.
03:42But maybe if she was in cahoots with Steve and Kate and Ted and cooperating and working alongside
03:47them, maybe people would kind of warm to her a bit. Steve, let's talk about Steve. So
03:52the season six finale, you saw him not leaving the falls, he's getting the help he needs, but,
03:58you know, he's sort of very thin ice in terms of, yeah, his career and what he's allowed to do.
04:06Like,
04:06I think he was saying that he might be put on, like, desk duty, that kind of thing. So where
04:11do you
04:11think we will see him in season seven? I think Steve's married to the job, so he will do absolutely
04:17everything he can to going back to his old ways, you know, having to be really active on the job,
04:24being, you know, he's AFO trained, he's not going to want to get away his blue ticket, I think they
04:28call it. Yeah, he's going to be doing everything in his power to, to stay on side. So I don't,
04:34I don't think much is going to change with Steve. I think, I think he'll be back.
04:38I think so too. Speaking of marriage, do you think his relationship with Steph will survive
04:45to season seven? Bless him. I mean, Kate, Kate said to him, you're going to end up alone otherwise.
04:51So she was like, kind of like, go on, get, you know, get involved. So possibly, I mean, I think,
04:57yeah, I can, I can see it working. So I don't, I don't see why not. If he settles down,
05:02then there won't be, you know, hilarious moments where he finds himself ending up
05:08pursuing a witness or something, which is always classic Steve. So, but maybe he's grown up a bit.
05:13The tease with Kate, I suppose, at the end of season six is that Ted says, you know,
05:18we were always welcome back here. And even though, you know, we know her reasons for leaving and stuff
05:23at the start, it seems like, I mean, I got the impression that she was going to take him up
05:27on
05:27that offer. She, you know, was fed up of chasing bent coppers. She wanted to chase proper criminals.
05:33But I, but I do think there was a little bit of resentment there with Ted, which is one of
05:38the
05:38reasons why she ended up leaving when he was investigated in the season before. So, whereas
05:43I feel like now that that's kind of settled, the dust on that has kind of settled a bit, you
05:47know,
05:47Ted kind of redeemed himself. He owned up to it. He explained the full situation to Kate and Steve,
05:53which I think was quite eye-opening for them, even though we mostly knew it as viewers,
05:57but it was, it was kind of just like setting the record straight.
06:00I think H is resolved. I mean, obviously there's still strands there, like Osborne's still at large
06:08and he's sort of clearly a part of things. But I don't know whether it'd be a little remiss now
06:15if we carried on down that line. I think it's like, it seems like it's been concluded and the show
06:21needs to move elsewhere now.
06:23At the beginning of series seven, I think there'll be a new thread of corruption for them
06:30to work on entwined with a new case, you know, maybe a murder or a missing person or something
06:36like that. But I don't think there's anything wrong with them maybe referencing it in the background
06:43because as you said, Osborne's still at large and they said they were hoping that Buckles was going to talk.
06:50But, you know, there's evidence isn't being taken to the Crown Court because of public interest.
06:56So I think that they're, AC12 aren't going to let that go, I think. So I don't think it will
07:01be the focal point
07:02because I think, as you say, you know, you don't want to drag it out too much because we've been
07:06talking about H since series four when the first code name was mentioned.
07:11We have to talk about Chloe Bishop as well. So, you know, she's introduced to her and I think we
07:17can, we can agree that she was a brilliant character.
07:20There's a lot of theories that she is Tony Gates' daughter and there's more to her than meets the eye.
07:27And, you know, they do such a good job of making, like, she's such a good officer, but you don't
07:32know anything about her personal life.
07:34And, like, normally with the main roles, you really do see an insight into all of that.
07:38So they've done a really good job of sort of keeping her under the radar.
07:41And I'm wondering whether this series was sort of a setup for her character for future series and that she
07:48might take on more of a role about who she actually is.
07:52And God knows, Jared Mercurio likes to play the long game, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.
08:01I'm devastated it's over, personally.
08:04But, you know, TV moves on. I'm just wondering what else you're looking forward to watching.
08:08Wow, I'm very looking forward to watching Anna Maxwell Martin in Motherland, which is out on May 10th.
08:16It is so funny and the Christmas special was just brilliant and I honestly can't wait for series three.
08:23It's so good. And Joanna Lumley is Amanda's mum, which is, I'm sorry.
08:29Oh, and also looking forward to Pursuit of Love.
08:33Yeah, the Lily James, Dominic West drama.
08:38It's kind of like a light, like a light-hearted drama, isn't it?
08:43You know what I actually thought about after I finished Season 6 of Line of Duty was when Body Cards
08:49Season 2 is coming out.
08:51Because obviously it's Jabby Curio as well.
08:55Massive, massive hit with Richard Madden and Keely Halls.
08:59But it sounds like they're nowhere near, like they haven't started filming or anything.
09:03So I think I've got a while to wait for that one.
09:06Yeah, it's been ages.
09:08It's been so long.
09:09So in the meantime, Peaky Blinders is filming at the moment.
09:13Stephen Graham's going to be in the next series.
09:15That's really exciting.
09:17So I'm looking forward to that.
09:19And as well, there's a new Harlan Coben drama coming out on Netflix called Stay Close.
09:28I'm quite looking forward to that.
