00:00Delete your graduation year from your resume, says TikTok account The School of Hard Knocks.
00:05Funnily enough, the justification isn't what I initially thought, the ability to identify your
00:11age. It is actually because a lot of the time traditional hirers or recruiters are going to
00:17base your salary off of how long you've been in the real world. In other words, Elaine Varelis,
00:23a managing partner at a career counseling firm, says you want the focus to be on the skills that
00:28you provide and the value that you bring to their organization. It means you could end up
00:33getting considered for more than just an entry-level role, and recruiters would have no choice but to
00:38judge you on your skills and previous experience. A career counseling employee, Jerry Lee, reiterates
00:45the removal by saying, adding your graduation year can only hurt you. He also suggests job applicants
00:51move their education to the bottom of their resume, below their work experience. Business Insider
00:57reports, this small detail could be what's holding you back from prospective employment.
