00:00Todd Munkin was on his show yesterday.
00:05Todd, how the hell are you going to play these quarterbacks on Saturday?
00:07I anticipate each quarterback in the game they start will play a half,
00:11might play in the second half, just to get in a little bit of rhythm.
00:14You might have one drive.
00:15What are you going to do to take them out?
00:16Two drives, three drives.
00:18Love to get a two-minute.
00:19If you take them out, they're never going to get a two-minute, right?
00:21We've got to find a way to manufacture a two-minute if we can.
00:24I see that.
00:25How much our offensive line will play against the Bears is a little bit predicated on.
00:28Are they playing their starters?
00:30Because it's unfair to the quarterback that if they're playing their starting D-line
00:33and we sub out our O-line to really get a picture,
00:36our twos against their twos, okay, fine.
00:37We've got to live with that.
00:38That will determine when our O-line comes out.
00:42All right, Todd, what's the progression been like with all the QBs?
00:46I think all the quarterbacks have done a great job,
00:49starting with Talon, doesn't get a ton of reps, super smart.
00:53Thing's got a bright future.
00:54Dillon has handled it great.
00:55It really takes everything we ask of him to do from the meeting room to the field.
01:00And then you talk about Shadour, who from the moment I got here until now,
01:05in terms of his drops, working through his progressions, checking the ball down,
01:09eliminating sacks, protecting the football.
01:12And I'm just talking about that part of it and throwing it.
01:14And then in the huddle, the command of the huddle, in and out of it,
01:17eliminating anxiety at the line of scrimmage for himself, really is improved.
01:21And I'm excited to see him play.
01:23They're all going to play in the preseason games, just a matter who starts.
01:25And then Sean, Sean's obviously played a lot of football, been in a number of systems.
01:30Early on, he was certainly going to be ahead.
01:32And that was to be expected.
01:33And I think people fail to realize that he hasn't played a lot of football the last few years.
01:37And so he is certainly capable of improving in a lot of aspects of his game.
01:42Not only operation, but I think he's healthy for the first time.
01:45But then his playmaking ability, his ability to work through progressions.
01:48So I'm excited to see all of our guys play this preseason.
01:51See, I don't think he is.
01:53I don't think he really is capable of those things.
01:55What?
01:56I'm not trying to say nasty things.
01:58I'm just being honest with everybody.
01:59Does anybody else think he is?
02:01How many times are we going to be fooled?
02:04No one's going to be fooled in this city.
02:06Hell, they didn't even trust him to begin with.
02:09So they don't think they're not going to be fooled.
02:11Todd Munkin has to say those things because he's on his show and it's in public.
02:16Maybe Todd Munkin really does feel that way.
02:18You're a coach.
02:18Coach him up.
02:19Maybe that's the case.
02:20Got to get him to that point B.
02:21All those things that we like to say.
02:23I don't think anybody believes that.
02:25It's been six years.
02:26How many years do we have to go before he finds it again?
02:29Like sometimes it's just gone.
02:31And I think it's gone for him.
02:32And you say the physical ability.
02:34Well, I don't know.
02:35He threw the ball a few times and the shoulder's starting to bottom again,
02:38according to the reports from OTAs.
02:42You say the physical ability, getting in and out.
02:45I mean, he has played a lot of football.
02:46Has he played a lot of smart football?
02:48Does he know what he's doing?
02:49Because we found out that story a couple years ago that Bill O'Brien was calling the offense.
02:53Guess who's the veteran having trouble getting in and out of the huddle under Kevin Stavansky?
02:57And now Todd Munkin.
02:59Well, it seems like everybody's having trouble getting in and out of the huddle right now with Todd Munkin.
03:03And I wonder if that's just the pain of a completely new install now that down the road.
03:08Maybe it's Todd Munkin's fault.
03:09Who knows?
03:10But I do think that it's logical.
03:12Like think of how many young or new players they have on offense.
03:16It's everybody.
03:17Who's the veteran on offense?
03:19Like that just.
03:21Harold Fannin.
03:22That's right.
03:22That's the blueprint for a team that's going to have trouble getting in and out of the line of scrimmage.
03:26That's and out of the huddle.
03:27That's not just a Shadour thing or just a Deshaun Watson thing.
03:31Like I.
03:32Andrew Luck could be here.
03:33He might be having trouble with that right now.
03:35Like it just doesn't matter.
03:37Like I just question what the expectation would be at this stage.
03:41You know.
03:42As we just finished the installs at the end of last week.
03:46I must tell you the history with one of the quarterbacks being Deshaun Watson plays into my feelings about the
03:53quarterback competition.
03:54And I think that it does with a lot of people.
03:56Like when I watch this game on Saturday.
03:58I assume he's going to start this game on Saturday.
04:00And when I watch this game.
04:01I'm not comparing him as much to.
04:04I have to compare him to Shadour Sanders to some level.
04:07I'm not comparing him as much to Shadour Sanders as I'm comparing him to the guy that we were supposed
04:11to get that we traded all these picks for and all that stuff again.
04:14Because I'm just telling you right now.
04:15It's going to take a lot for me to be convinced.
04:19And I think a lot of Browns fans are with me on that.
04:21Going.
04:21I ain't going to be fooled again.
04:23So it's not just Shadour.
04:25Or he's competing against on Saturday.
04:28If he were to start.
04:29It's the old Deshaun Watson.
04:32Because now we're at the end of the rope.
04:34And at one point there was an MVP candidate.
04:36Because at one point there were 12 other football teams.
04:40Or 13 other football teams.
04:41That were putting in to see about his possibilities.
04:44They know the quarterbacks don't fall off the trees.
04:46So that history that we have has to play in to how I watch these QBs.
04:53Can't say evaluate.
04:54It ain't my job.
04:55Yeah, it's best I can.
04:56But it's for entertainment purposes only.
04:58I can't do it the same way Todd Munkin can.
05:01But I will tell you.
05:03There will be a lot more scrutiny with Deshaun Watson from me.
05:06Than there would be with Shadour Sanders.
05:09That's not fair.
05:09I'm just telling you guys the truth that.
05:112-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
05:14Is there going to be the same way with you?
05:15Will you see Deshaun Watson differently than what you would see with Shadour Sanders?
05:20Because I mean I have to be.
05:22I have to have a little bit more leeway with Shadour Sanders.
05:25I want him to start.
05:26I can only tell you guys the truth about my own emotions.
05:29The other guy reminds me of a bad era of lost football for this football team.
05:34Well the one thing I'll just say.
05:35I know you might get to the phones.
05:36I'll just say logically.
05:38Empty promises.
05:39If they started Watson.
05:40I'd be like.
05:41Alright.
05:42I don't expect much.
05:43And hopefully Shadour can come in when everything kind of.
05:48Maybe things get a little steadier with the offensive line.
05:52If it's the other way.
05:53And Shadour Sanders starts.
05:55And doesn't play well.
05:57Then I'm just going to be like.
05:59Alright.
06:01Looking at my watch.
06:03How many games left?
06:04And I wonder how bronze fans.
06:07Are going to be in this area.
06:08I imagine a lot of people will probably feel the same way you do.
06:10Jeffrey in Cleveland.
06:11Hello.
06:12Yeah.
06:12I think the guys.
06:13You know.
06:14I think that Todd.
06:15I think that coach has seen something.
06:18And is sure.
06:19That he hasn't seen before.
06:21This is his first time seeing it.
06:22He never seen it.
06:23And no one else but Shadour.
06:25And I think that Shadour is going to be the starting quarterback Saturday.
06:30Alright.
06:31Jeffrey.
06:31Thank you very much for the call.
06:32Dan and Columbus.
06:33You're next up on the fan.
06:36Morning.
06:36Morning, Dan.
06:39Deshaun will start the first two games.
06:41Haslam and Barry want to go back in time.
06:44And prove that they made the right decision.
06:46And they think that somehow he will beat Baker after starting 0-2, being embarrassed by Baker
06:54and their mistake coming back to haunt them.
06:57There's no way they can start him game three.
07:00Shadour takes over at home in Cleveland and hopefully takes us on a little run.
07:05Do you think that Deshaun can beat Baker Mayfield?
07:10Absolutely not.
07:11Well, then why would they?
07:14Why did they do this in the first place?
07:17That was four years ago, though.
07:19I mean, you got to learn your lesson at some point, don't they?
07:22If they learned their lesson, he would not be getting any of these reps.
07:25Just let Shadour and Dylan, one and two.
07:30And I mean, the money is already spent.
07:32But you can't bring that guy into Cleveland.
07:36I'm a perfect example.
07:37I had season tickets from 99.
07:40The day I canceled was the day they signed Deshaun Watson.
07:45That was for moral reasons.
07:46But it's a disaster.
07:49It's been a disaster.
07:50Just to end the disaster.
07:52I mean, and I thought they would last year.
07:56I really did.
07:57And then, you know, obviously things haven't gone the way they wanted it to go.
08:00But I hope it's not for that way.
08:05Because they have been a team that's shown us that they have almost,
08:09well, not even almost, they have overcorrected previous mistakes
08:12that they have made in the past.
08:14Every rep they give Deshaun is robbing Shadour and Dylan and Green.
08:19Just cut bait.
08:21It's crazy because, you know, Dan, you hit on a point here.
08:24Thank you for the call.
08:27How good does Deshaun Watson have to be this year
08:29for anybody to really want him back in 2027?
08:32I almost, I think they'd have to go to the AFC Championship game.
08:36And he'd have to look good doing it.
08:37He could go to the AFC Championship game,
08:39and I would still talk about drafting a quarterback in the first round.
08:42Oh, yeah.
08:42Yeah.
08:43I mean, he's...
08:43I'll just put him on the 10.
08:44Sending on the other side of 30.
08:46Who's signing him to a long deal?
08:47Yeah.
08:49I mean, honestly, think about that.
08:52Like, the other two, hey, there's understanding.
08:54Young, mid- to late-round picks.
08:57This guy, I mean, honestly, what does he have to do
09:02for Browns fans to turn around and say,
09:04you know what, we'll keep him?
09:05It'd have to be AFC Championship, Super Bowl,
09:08and that is not realistic.
09:10I just wonder if...
09:11So a guy like Dan is justified.
09:13Absolutely.
09:13This is the downside for fans of hiring Munkin.
09:16Had it have been Sheilhouse or Euglizzi, then...
09:20Yudinski.
09:21Euglizzi.
09:22Wasn't it the one that sounds like the hot dog?
09:24This is...
09:25Do the jokes get better as the show goes on?
09:27Because we only got an hour left.
09:28Bad jokes, Yudinski.
09:29I thought...
09:30I thought for sure,
09:32had they have hired those guys,
09:33they just would have played the kid.
09:35Munkin is, like, trying to prove himself
09:36and trying to win right now.
09:38And he continues, according to what we've heard,
09:40he thinks there's a higher ceiling,
09:42and he's a coach.
09:43A coach always thinks he's going to be able to get his players
09:46to that ceiling
09:47because they have confidence in themselves.
09:50Okay.
