After four long months in the workshop, we finally have our car back — and now our big South America road trip can begin! 🚗🌎 In this episode, we leave Cuenca, Ecuador, and start driving south towards the Peruvian border. Our journey will take us more than 16,000 km through Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil over the coming months. We first test our newly repaired car around Cuenca before saying goodbye to the city and beginning our journey. Along the way, we discover a surprising desert landscape in the Andes, fly our drone over spectacular valleys, cross a shaky suspension bridge and drive from the mountains down towards Ecuador's tropical coast. The landscape changes dramatically within just a few hours — from cool green mountains to dry desert, cacao plantations and humid coastal mangroves. In Huaquillas, the last Ecuadorian city before Peru, we explore the fishing harbor and a small mangrove forest before enjoying some local seafood. But just before crossing the border, our car gives us another little scare... 😅 Eventually, we make it to the Ecuador–Peru border, complete the necessary paperwork and successfully enter Peru with our car.
