00:03Prepare the tongue-a-pult.
00:06Make me fly again.
00:10The croaking cockatoo doth bellow for revenge.
00:13Go get him, tiger!
00:19So, Carlos, why don't you tell us what it's like to work at Blue Sky?
00:22Well, instead of talking about it, why don't I just show you around?
00:36Whoa! Traffic.
00:42So, we spend a lot of time drawing, like doodling, and we have a lot of fun stuff.
00:46Most of this stuff is like ourselves. We draw a lot of caricature.
00:50So, it's a good way to get warmed up.
00:55Hey, Carlos.
00:56So, let me introduce you guys to Luis.
00:58He's one of our top animators, and he was the character lead on Nigel.
01:02And he's going to show you some cool stuff. Take it away.
01:09I was character lead for Nigel, like in Rio 1 as well.
01:12So, finding him again in Rio 2 was like meeting an old friend.
01:15The only difference is, this time, he had a much more prominent role.
01:19He had a vengeance.
01:20We aren't here to snack. We're here to avenge.
01:23I mean, for me, he's the soul of the character.
01:26His voice is so unique, and the way he talks and speaks, just when he's speaking, it's so fun already.
01:33To be, or not to be?
01:36That is the question.
01:37His range is perfect for the character.
01:40Fair point.
01:44It's a little smoother than my regular voice.
01:46This isn't my regular voice that I'm using now.
01:48This is my voice, usually.
01:50But this is my voice for camera.
01:52And this is my voice for Nigel.
01:54There's three different voices I use.
01:56Death, Gabby.
01:58It's about death.
01:59I have a child.
02:00He's four.
02:01I told him that I was the voice of Nigel the other day, and he didn't believe me.
02:08Okay, so let's meet some of the guys who worked on Amazon Untamed.
02:12Let's get started.
02:21There's a lot of talent in the jungle, and I think everybody wants to be a part of it.
02:25It's like American Idol in Amazon.
02:30Next.
02:31That's a good question.
02:32Who would have the best chance?
02:33I like the bird who broke his leg.
02:35That was pretty good.
02:40He went all the way for that performance.
02:42Hi, my name is Clara, the Capa Barra, and I will be singing my favorite song.
02:48I think Clara may be the ranked number one cutest creature in all of the Amazon.
02:59Despite being swallowed whole by a panther.
03:03She's still determined to get through her song.
03:06Touch me.
03:08It's so easy to leave me.
03:12It's like a toss-up between Clara, the Capa Barra, and whatever that little bird playing the alligator teeth was.
03:24He was doing a good job until the alligator crushed him.
03:26Oh, that would be easy.
03:29Oh, that would be easy.
03:29Capa Barra.
03:29They're the best dancer ever.
03:35Capa Barra are pretty much like giant guinea pigs.
03:40And they are the best hip-hop dancers in the Amazon jungle.
03:44Tell me when I go.
03:47They're so good, they might be the next hit boy band.
03:53We still have Eba.
03:56What?
03:57They say love is blind, and apparently it's deaf too.
03:59You won't find it anywhere else.
04:07She's not aware of how awful she sounds.
04:09Almost as if she's singing in the shower all the time.
04:12That was amazing.
04:14Oh no, no one steals my scene.
04:17I think Nigel is definitely the best candidate.
04:19He's, you know, he's appealing, he's charismatic, his song is fantastic.
04:25Watch what I can do without no auto-tune.
04:27Oh no, he didn't.
04:32Nigel is still evil, but he really wants to get back to acting.
04:38We're looking for a new star.
04:41Star?
04:41So, sometimes that can distract his focus on evil doing.
04:47Where is my glitter?
04:48Oh, sorry, sorry.
04:49I don't want apologies, I want glitter.
04:52Nigel is, he's a villain, but in his core he's a performer.
04:56My audience awaits.
04:58Because of that, whenever he has an opportunity to go on stage, he just, that's when he kind
05:02of comes to life.
05:08He's got swag.
05:10If you want to bring out that like cool, like swagger in his performance and everything,
05:15you're going to need animators who also have a little bit of that.
05:20The first thing we did is a bunch of animators got together in a room and we shot some reference.
05:26Everybody had like different takes on how this part of the song could be played or that
05:30part of the song could be played.
05:32To be in this business, you're kind of a ham at heart anyway, you kind of like to have
05:36fun.
05:39My favorite part would be shooting the reference for this dance moves with my coworkers.
05:45First we shoot it in the real speed and then we speed up and we talk about it and then
05:51we
05:51shoot it again and try to get it as close as we can.
05:54The dancing moves that I did were inspired by 90's hip hop dancing from like a lot of
05:59the old hip hop videos that I used to grow up watching so anytime you see Nigel doing
06:05some kind of, I don't want to do it here, but you know, jumping up and down, it came from
06:09me.
06:10Each sequence would come up and we would kind of brainstorm ideas and it was a lot of fun.
06:14I don't have any training as a dancer but I always have liked dancing.
06:17In high school, I danced in front of the mirror.
06:22What a nightmare.
06:26Making these movies take a lot of work.
06:28It's a huge team effort, you know, you cannot make a movie by yourself.
06:33You were just one of the pieces of the puzzle.
06:36I think of Blue Sky, I think of family.
06:48Yes, thank you, I've been Bob the Bird.
06:50Blue Sky.
07:02You
