00:00Veteran journalist A. Kader Jasin has warned that Malaysians are suffering from political fatigue,
00:06pointing to falling voter turnout and weak attendance at party events.
00:11In a Facebook post, Kader noted that voter turnout fell from 84% in the 2013 general election
00:18to 82.32% in 2018 and 74.5% in 2022.
00:25He also cited the recent DAP Special Congress, where only 51.2% of 4,264 delegates attended.
00:36Kader pointed to the poor performance of political parties, saying Pejuang was wiped out in the 15th general election,
00:43while PKR, Amanah, Bersatu and Bersama suffered heavy losses in recent state elections.
00:50Kader blamed the fatigue on political leaders toying with supporters' emotions and continued infighting within parties.
00:59He singled out PKR, noting that Rafizi Ramli left the party after losing the party polls,
01:05while Nurul Iza Anwar recently stepped down as Deputy President.
01:09He warned that prolonged political fatigue could have serious consequences for the country.
01:15Kader cautioned that Malaysia could eventually end up under a kleptocratic or kakistocratic government if the trend continues.
