00:13The 30-year Treasury yield has risen more than 40 basis points since late June,
00:19while total U.S. government debt approaches $40 trillion.
00:22The federal budget deficit reached $432.3 billion in July
00:27and is expected to hit $2 trillion for the fiscal year ending September 30th.
00:32Debt financing costs are projected at $137 trillion for the year.
00:37U.S. companies have also issued nearly $1.7 trillion in bonds this year,
00:41up 27% from the same period last year.
00:44Strategists said the added supply is putting further upward pressure on long-term yields.
