The Downtown Owners and Merchants Association says the entire downtown area is currently without water following the discovery of a major underground leak on Independence Square North, near Richmond Street.

According to the association, WASA has shut off the supply while excavation works are carried out. WASA is currently on the scene but, there is currently no indication when water service will be restored.

Businesses and residents are being urged to conserve water and make alternative arrangements where necessary.
