00:00Ok, so you would like to know whether you have had time to rest up your legs after the tour
00:29and whether this is the last kind of gold medal that's missing from your handmares.
00:35Yeah, it was quite a short time after the tour to come here but I think it was enough time
00:44to recover
00:45and start this also close to my home so I'm really looking forward and I hope the legs will be
00:54good
00:55and it is one missing goal from my career so I will give my best to try and win.
01:31Okay, so how important is it for you today to win all three Grand Tours and how important was it
01:38for you today to win all three Grand Tours and how important was it for you today to win all
01:38three Grand Tours?
01:38What was it for Jonas being able to win the Giro in the past months?
01:45Well, I don't know how important it was for him to win the Giro but I think any race to
01:51win is quite important.
01:52But for me I think to win all three Grand Tours would be a big goal and dream since a
02:01few years now that I'm doing well.
02:06So yeah, it's a big goal and it's going to be important to be good here at Vuelta.
02:16So thank you.
02:18...
02:18...
02:18...
02:18...
02:19...
02:19In France, the Tour de France is a lot more complicated than what you're going to have in this lap.
02:28You enter the concept of winning with ease.
02:33You have that feeling when your rivals assume that you have everything to do.
02:41You're going to condition the race in a total way.
02:46You won the Tour de France against much more complicated rivals, so to say.
02:52Are you expecting to win easy against this opposition?
03:02I don't know if it's even worth to answer this question.
03:08Because here is a very stacked up competition.
03:13I don't know why would you say that it was a much tougher competition in the Tour.
03:19Because here we have amazing talent on the start line.
03:24And it's going to be a very tough race.
03:29So yeah, it's going to be a hard one, hard battle.
03:35Everybody here, that is here.
03:38I expect them to be in top shape.
03:41And there are very, very good riders here.
03:44And yeah, it's never, never, never easy.
03:48Any questions for John?
03:50Yes.
03:51I have a question.
03:52Last year it was the second year.
03:55This year it comes to Tade.
03:56I don't know if you would like to be a free person.
04:02Or do you think you have to work for Tade?
04:06I can answer in Spanish.
04:07Yes, it's been a difficult year for me.
04:11I think I did well.
04:13But maybe with a little bit of confidence.
04:17And maybe I'll be in my best.
04:19But I'm here to give my best.
04:23And we have a career to win.
04:26And I'm here to help Tade.
04:29And give my best.
04:31And if I can do a good result, if not,
04:35I'll do my best.
04:36And that's what I can do.
04:40Here you go.
04:41How do you get your confidence?
04:43We've seen that you can't finish the last race.
04:46How do you think it's easy for you?
04:47How do you think you think the Vuelta
04:49is a good place to recover the sensations?
04:52Yes, I do.
04:55I like the Vuelta a lot.
04:56I've done a few.
04:58I've done a lot.
04:59I've done a lot of motivation.
05:00I've done a lot of goals.
05:03I hope I can find myself well.
05:06I'll enjoy my career.
05:07I'll spend a lot of time with my friends.
05:10It's like a second family.
05:12And all the Grand Tours have a story.
05:16And I'm going to do one more.
05:21Good question for you.
05:23Hey, thanks if you don't think you haven't understood today, but he's wondering whether your big challenge is to win
05:43from the first to the last stage from Monaco to Granada.
05:46I mean the first stage is not... I will give my best but I think here is the
05:57competition for the TT the first day, it's very high. There are some fast guys
06:03and technical guys that can go really fast through this course. I just
06:09want to start the race to feel how the situation is and I'm not thinking that
06:19the first stage is very suited for me so I just want to go there and and see how
06:26it goes. When did you decide to cancel a Vuelta this year and how important was your first
06:33participation seven years ago in your career? Yeah, I had a wish to do Vuelta since a long
06:44time ago but yeah we sit down in December and we speak that it is potentially to do
06:51Vuelta and then yeah everybody can push back Vuelta before the Tour but in my
06:59mind I wanted really to go because the start is here in Monaco also and it's
07:05time to do it. I cannot skip the Tour so in any case one year it will come that I
07:12need to do Tour and Vuelta so I think this year was the time and it's
07:19going to be yeah good good race anyway because I have good memories from Vuelta
07:26from 2019 and it was my first Grand Tour and I'm here to enjoy that as well.
07:35Tadeja, how it means to you to know you are here in Vuelta as a great favorite
07:42to win and complete these three games and how are you next right now?
07:50I'm really excited for the race, I'm really excited that we start here in Monaco and then go to Spain
07:57and have a long month in Spain and just have amazing atmospheres atmosphere with the fans and all
08:09I really love to race in Spain and yeah the legs are good they are great I hope and we
08:18will see more on
08:22maybe Saturday and then stage four for sure we will see how are the legs and but
08:27yeah I'm I'm really excited and happy to be here.
08:31Tadeja, did you think in this day about how was your first well-done team and how do you feel
08:39to be here
08:39winning almost everything like classic Grand Tour and so on to be here to get this missing Grand Tour?
08:47Yeah for sure I have really nice beautiful memories from Vuelta 2019 and yeah I was a young kid then
08:57back then and now you see a completely different completely different approach to any race than it was back then
09:06so it's a bit different but still it almost feels like it's my first Vuelta so yeah I'm really looking
09:15forward.
09:17Obviously Monaco it's special for you when you were sleeping at home after the first stage and why is it
09:25such a hot spot for cyclists in Monaco?
09:28Yeah I wish I could be I don't think it's possible to sleep in different places in races I think
09:36it's against the rules but I'm not 100% sure but it would be nice
09:41it would be nice to stay in your house until the start of TT as well and yeah it just
09:49feels great to be racing here and it also feels great to train here
09:55really nice nice roads and all year round good weather it's like paradise for cyclists I think you can see
10:07a lot of more and more
10:09amateurs is coming here to train for vacation as well and you have sea you have mountains you have everything
10:15and it's just that it's pretty cool in general
10:21you were very successful as NEM what happened to NEM
10:25to who? NEM
10:27who? NEM
10:29NEM
10:30NEM
10:31NEM
10:32yeah I had to cut short and that's it
10:41hey Tadej, you already said that the parkour of the TT is pretty technical
10:47uh, once Wannert told us just that he thinks it's even a bit over the limit
10:52do you know his roads?
10:54can you agree with what he said?
10:57I mean
10:59yeah you just need to go a bit slower in the corners that's it
11:05yeah I know the roads really really well I go with the motorbike I go with the car I go
11:11with the bike I walk them and
11:12yeah it's not ideal but it's not gonna be 60 per hour flat out time trial but yeah you have
11:20to
11:20use the brakes use the a bit of different pacing strategies than what we used to but
11:28yeah I think if you do recon before the race I think yeah you see the dangerous points and
11:38it just go a bit easier there but uh yeah it's pretty technical I would say it's uh yeah it's
11:44quite uh
11:46but it reminds me also a little bit on uh uh Copenhagen start us also uh city prologue and uh
11:55we also went through one
11:57uh garden I think uh through a sidewalk or something and yeah it's just again yeah
12:04every rider needs to manage their own their own and yeah it can be technical as as it can be
12:11but
12:11it's up to the rider how fast he goes through the corners
12:16hello today uh what can you have about what you remember of your first world time in 2019 for instance
12:23the third stage win was maybe one of the first solo win longest way yeah um now I have great
12:32great memories
12:33uh three stage wins podium white jersey and uh yeah that last uh last victory uh it was stage 20
12:43and it was just
12:45uh yeah I I can still feel the pain uh from that day it was really really hard and I
12:52just decided to go
12:54uh try to attack like 40k to go or something and uh and yeah it was uh and pretty pretty
13:02cool I must say
13:03and uh yeah I will never forget that welcome today we are in Monaco you mentioned the climate and
13:11everything is very good too for cycling riders but uh what do you like to to live here uh lots
13:19of nationalities
13:20uh being like anonymous maybe what do you like to be here how is it actually yeah uh when we
13:27moved back
13:27here in 2019 we were always thinking uh yeah we will go uh finish career or we go back to
13:35Slovenia and uh but yeah
13:37years go by uh you grow you you grew a bit as a person and uh yeah here uh we
13:43create ourself a life
13:45so that's what I like the most we we feel comfortable here safe and uh quality of life is good
13:51um yeah so
13:54we we really enjoyed hearing in general and uh yeah like I said before sea mountains together
14:04there's not many places you can get airports pretty close and uh yeah I was also uh I never lived
14:12in the
14:13city before and uh yeah Monaco gave me new perspective about the city life even though it's not a massive
14:21city city it's just but it's very uh very different than what I used to to live and was used
14:27to so
14:28I really like that change as well
14:33what could be your strategy during this workshop because for you the season is still long after this
14:38race will you try to be very offensive during the first stages or wait the last stages to train to
14:45say I mean definitely um I will have to uh see my shape in the first few stages how it
14:54is and uh
14:54thinking always thinking that I have still uh three big races after well as well words europeans and
15:01lombardy so I cannot uh okay I shouldn't finish uh welta completely destroyed uh but uh yeah I need to
15:11be
15:11we need to be smart and uh uh play the best uh the three weeks race so yeah we will
15:19uh we will have to
15:20see from from the first few days how we how we approach the stage uh stages after that last question
15:32no one okay so that's it thank you very much
